But in a capital-S kinda way.

I invented necromancy and the windmill. I beat the sun in a poker match during the summer of 1273 and God hasn't felt the same since.

Take two supernatural boogaloo

Kara never really bothered to look behind her when the big shockwave hit, mainly because there were two big ass abstractions banging knuckles behind her, kicking up all manners of dirt and debris as Kara continued to book it while being only partially mesmerized by the orange light from Mariah’s abstraction. Sure, it was weird to look at, but that didn’t matter because Kara had the flag and Madison sure as hell didn’t throw her for nothing, right? Kara swore she heard someone yelling at her, but with all the commotion going on, this bitch wasn’t about to slow down and get crushed by Jurassic Ghost. In the corner of her eye, Kara saw a girl moving towards her, she didn’t register it since she was on the other team, so she tried to outrun the girl.

That very clearly didn’t work.

In the middle of storming across the field like there was no tomorrow, Kara felt a pair of legs come and absolutely dust her side. She got tackled to the ground. It was kind of painful considering the fact that she got slammed into the dirt. ”Ow! What w-“ Of course, in the sudden daze that felt like an eternity, someone got her flag. Honestly it felt some that woman broke her ribs, but Kara was fine. ”Great...” Not great. Suddenly Kara couldn’t move either!

A purple glow wrapped itself around Kara’s body like a a cage, and Kara couldn’t move. There were no two ways about it. Kara tried struggling all she could, the most she could do was shake her head back and forth and try to squirm, but somebody on the other team had her on lock down. Kara’s tree arm began to slowly slide back into its normal state as the bark dissipated. ”What is this? What’s happening?” The pain from getting finessed like a child was still lingering in her side as Kara’s eyes darted across the field trying to think of something. Meanwhile, the girl who called checkmate was already running off with the flag. It was funny, really, Kara’s abstraction was meant to protect people and she couldn’t protect herself from the least supernatural attack she had seen all day.

Smashing.

Fuck

Before Kara had time to do much as breathe, her marked arm was being gripped as whiplash took her body over. She couldn’t get a word out before the apparently very strong woman hurled her through the air. Straight at the flag. In a split second she could see that one of the women around her that was also launched like a fucking arbalest had already landed but Kara was still going. She made a mental defrost ration in her head that Mariah was there, and she still didn’t quite understand was was about to happen if Mariah got involved since she still didn’t know how Mariah’s abstraction worked. Apparently, one of them had some kind of telekinetic power, since when Kara locked her eyes on the flag, it was levitating in the air...perfect opportunity...”Almost...Got it!” She flailed her entire arm in the general direction of the flag, wooden matter violently forming around her sleeves in an instant to form some kind of connection around it, her arm had essentially been stretched by a foot as the flag made a sharp dink against her wooden hand, she flew forward another second or two - directly into the middle of everybody - when she landed flat on the ground, her arm still stretched and tree like as she had the breath knocked straight out of her... There was dirt in the air when she stood up, realizing that she not only had the flag, but she was in the middle of the field. Off to the side she could see a yellow...orange? Something that was probably aimed right at her.

The worst part was the tallest woman she had ever seen in her entire life was
running right the fuck at her!

Oh shit... ”I got it!” She turned around yelling to Madison, raising her bark covered arm that was visibly disproportionate to her body. Unfortunately, she just made this clear to everyone. She took a second to register her surroundings, Mariah, Emily in the ground, Grace over there...she wasn’t going to stand there and let a bunch of unknown powers get the best of her, she locked eyes on her “team” and started to run. Kara ran as fast as she could, the problem was the darkened sky put up by Claudette. It made it just a little hard to see, but she wasn’t tripping over things. She held her wood-covered arm close to her chest as she made a mad dash back to her side of the field, the entire time she had her back turned to literally everybody else, bolting past Emily. If she could get close enough she could stretch her arm further, but she needed time and she didn’t have that.

On the bright side...Kara didn’t get grabbed by her pants in a definitely, but subtle, gay way.

Not yet at least.

Seeing this...flighty woman...climb into Tolan’s lap sure as hell wasnt amusing to say the least. She probably thought she was going to seduce him or something, little did she know it was almost midnight and he should’ve been intoxicatedly asleep by now. He didn’t even notice the orc’s words were meant to be intimidating as a result of that wild accent, and he didn’t humor the magician with the mask, all he did was violently grip Nieth’s shoulder and fling her off of him and onto the ground. He was just a little annoyed by the harlot they packed around. ”Go sell yourself someplace else, wench. You’re not my type.” Of course, Micah’s attempt at magic would only slightly help. To the outside world there was nothing to be noticed, but across the inside of Micah’s mask were entirely esoteric images. Expressions of Tolan’s mind flashing in Micah’s.

It was all a mess, and it wasn’t until Neith was on her ass in the floor that Micah’s hand got thrown off of him. ”And keep your magic to yourself.” Tolan acted as if nothing happened, like nothing at all happened. Did Tolan actually notice Micah’s attempt to see inside his mind, or was he simply assuming based on his perception of Micah?

Adder

Minutes after minutes passed as things died down a little outside. Adder was still hunched over the radio inside with everybody, but it felt like forever once the boys in brass got here. All she could hear outside was a few isolated gunshots and heavy duty vehicles wheeling around a little, she couldn’t quite see anything given the positions everything was in, but there was a hell of a lot less commotion than before. Either Adder was locked in with a few of the only non-raiders left alive, or the Brotherhood won. Adder didn’t feel too comfy either way, she was a sitting duck here. Any stragglers could come blasting through the moment things relaxed enough and that put her in edge. Keeping her ear to the radio, she couldn’t hear anymore incoming messages, so surely it wouldn’t hurt to try again, right? ”Hello? Can anybody hear me? Anybody at all? What’s going on out there? I repeat, are the raiders gone?” Her stern and serious voice went through the radio as very clearly ghoulish, and just a little on the thirsty side. Surely someone in those big ass gun cars down the road had a receiver. ”We’re still boxed in back here. Is it safe to come out yet?” Probably not. Honestly, being stuck inside for two days straight a while from home while raiders tear the place up wasn’t exactly Adder’s idea of a solid work day. She came here just to fix a few things around the town for the Marshalls and the Tarheels, and then go home. She was in the middle of fixing up a car’s axle when shit went south, and she would have been able to go home if it weren’t for the fact that some dumbass gunked it up with radroach and decided it would be a genius idea to call a mechanic before the roadkill was out of the way. Not that Adder cares that much, after all, she was always paid well for working in town, but it would sure as hell be nice to not be sitting holed up waiting for the raiders to die off. The longer she waited, the more she’d check in on the radio. And the longer she messed with the radio, the more someone was probably going to give her shit for clogging the airwaves. Not that the airwaves would be clogged in the first place if she had any idea what was going on outside safe place she was stuck in, she couldn’t complain, after al, it was safe in there with all those people, and she had a gun at her hip...But it got boring in there, she already finished off the two cans of cram she packed for the day, hopefully they’ve got something good to eat in town...

”Anyone?”

"Yo Grace, and the new girl, come here!"

Who was this woman? Oh well. She sounded like she knew what she was doing so she went along with it. She didn’t know the other girl at all. She had a few similar features to Kara, that was all she could discern from this girl. The other one, who seemed to be their new leader on this team, however, did not have any similarities to Kara. She sounded just a tad bossy but then again this was capture the flag so you kind of need a boss. Walking over to her and the other few girls, away from everyone as the sky went black over their heads. It looked like that thing Claudette did at the park.

"Okay, so they're probably going to open up with that teleporter chick immediately warping over to the flag. If I get the flag, you damn well know they're not going to get it back. Problem is my sistas is that I won't be able to get over there in time, but Grace probably can and..."

Teleporting? When Kara thought about it, that made sense considering all the weird things she heard today, she never really considered that one though.

"... And I'm just gonna make a long story short and say I'm going to throw you at the flag."

”Throw?” The hell?

"And what exactly can you do?"

”Well, I make trees and wood grow out of myself.” Kara put her hand out for the third time today as the skin along her hands turned rigid and brown, taking on a texture of bark that covered her fingers and parts of her palm. There were no leaves, but her hand looked like a tiny tree. ”It’s pretty strong stuff, I’ve tried breaking it over something really hard a few times, but I’ve never really done something like this with it. She was referring to the whole capture the flag with your supernatural powers thing. ”I could pull it out of the ground too, it that’s not as easy.”

Come to think of it she didn’t know the other three girls’ abstractions either.

”How...are you gonna throw us?”
Kara Samson

Kara kept to herself the whole time until they got to the forest. In a way, this vast open mess of leaves and wood meant she was right at home. Maybe someday Kara would learn to shape wood from an outside source, but for now, she couldn’t do such a thing. Claudette explained that they were going to play a capture the flag game. How? That Emily girl somehow grabbed it from her hands quite violently and inhumanely, Kara wasn’t expecting that, and she herself could just stomp her foot into the ground to grab it, granted she’d have to get that Emily girl out of the way, but this wasn’t gonna be hard when her abstraction involved making something that’s really sturdy.

Know what? Fuck it.

Kara made a mental note of that idea, so that when the flag was out of somebody - anybody’s hands, she’d snatch it up near or far. ”Well. Who’s going where?” She didn’t really know anyone, so she was probably the last person to get picked to go to one side or the other. Emily seemed to have an abstraction based on closing a distance, assuming it was just that grappling hook thing she just did. She pondered charging at Emily to knock her to the ground and kick the flag away to trap it in a wooden box, but it seemed to be just a little too early for something like that. ”How do we decide leaders?” It was strange to be in the woods practicing this type of thing. What would happen if something went terribly wrong? How do you explain a supernatural tree impaling your knee when apparently most people can’t even see an abstraction? Maybe this was a part of Claudette’s plan, perhaps she was planning to make the coven a lot more organized and turn it into a more proper “organization” instead of a bunch of idiotic lesbians who practice magic.

”I just got here so I’m probably not good as a captain.”
