@Blu Ty is glad you have faith in him. Haha.

I'm rooting for Ty but the Gaara vs Rock Lee comparison has me worried for our little cub. It's all speculation anyway. We'll see what happens once your collab post is up.
Oh, for sure. Sophiel did her thing. Unfortunately, as far as shounen tropes go, she was set up as the villain. Fists filled with anger and jealousy are no replacement for true fighting spirit.

Sekhandur and Alberta need a slice of humble pie but I have a feeling it won't be during these battles. Nyx is cool though, no psychological problems there.
Just to clarify some things about the Festival of Champions:

1. It's a one-per-decade event. Like Nyx said, it didn't happen for his academic generation. This current semester happens to be that 10-year mark.
2. When the bottom five classes are expelled, it only means the students in those classes are expelled during that semester; those classes aren't purge completely.
3. This event is part of that mindset of Avalice only wanting the best to graduate, so they cull the herd so to speak to prevent wasting time and resources on those they deem won't have any chances for graduation.
4. Avalice has been doing this since its conception but that will be delved into later on when we reached that story arc.
How are tomes created?

New mages start off with a generalized tome containing some common knowledge spells. As they use the tome more, their mana helps reshape the tome into something unique and it goes from there as they grow stronger. If you want to talk about the manufacturing side, refer back to KoL's explanation.

Damn Sophiel is getting some awful luck right at the beginning of the semester. Let's see if any Might users can turn this around.
>just ignore the other fights

*collateral damage intensifies*

Is Nyx going to intervene when indirect magic attacks fly towards someone who the person isn't fighting? Or will he just let it happen?

Nyx would expel them if they can't handle it.

@Blu I was pretty much thinking of the sand magic specifically, so it's good to know we're on the same page.

I'm imagining our fight to be pretty similar to Gaara vs. Rock Lee, ie the single best fight in all of Naruto.

Gaara vs Rock Lee sold me on Naruto 👍
So it's a preliminary Dragon Ball tournament style, eh? Like sectors of the arena devoted to these simultaneous fights, etc?

Yeah it's a huge arena that comfortably fits the entire class, including the npc students so everybody has ample space to let loose. Just pick your own corner and ignore the other fights.
@Dead Cruiser All fights are happening concurrently, otherwise we'd be here forever lol

Feel free to conjure up ghosts but you'll be hard pressed to make any shambling corpses.

And yes the spells you have listed in the CS are only the notable ones. Your character can have weaker spells or variants of your notable spells that isn't often used e.g. let's say Sekhandur can use his sand magic in a different way that wasn't listed.
Let's not blow our load on such prime storytelling early on. Plus it's the rng that's to blame.
<Snipped quote by metanoia>

judging by their very conflicting personalities there probably won't be a courtyard anymore after their match is done

Oh just a quick note: the arena that they're using is magically enhanced to minimize the damage to the surrounding environment so that's why Nyx told them to go all out.
@TheWendil Either way is fine. Decide who will win with the person(s) you're paired up with. You can decide how lengthy the fight will be. At some point I will have everybody wrap up their fights if it's gone on for too long.

EDIT: @ERode lol yes as much as a coincidence that one seems!
