Current Sorry for my lack of posts lately. I've just... been struggling to get the energy to write something up. I'm trying some new meds through so hopefully that will change soon.

There were times when Draco would look around his kitchen and simply take in the atmosphere without saying a word to anyone. How like the universe a kitchen was; When there was no life within it was orderly and calm, but once the cooks arrived it became a chaotic mess of conflicting sights and smells and flavors as different cooks focused on different dishes and tried to get them as perfect as possible before sending them out to be consumed by those beyond the kitchens walls. It wasn't a perfect metaphor and thus the young noble kept his thoughts to himself in order to avoid the possibility of looking like a fool but it worked for him.

Today was Stew Day at the Noble Soup Kitchen.

Walking around the kitchen in order to have a look at the massive pots that the stew was cooking in, an intelligent man that thought about it might have noticed that the pots seemed to be divided into two groups, through what divided them was not easily seen. Draco knew all to well through; While most of the pots were simply containing a normal hearty stew to feed to the starving masses, the meat in the others had come from animals that had been diseased before they had been slaughtered. Nothing world ending but it would cause an outbreak of lesser illness among those that ate from it that would spread to those around them. An offering to Grandfather Nurgle.

Those had were tasked with serving the stew into bowls had been instructed carefully that every seventh bowl was to be filled from one of the Nurgle pots; A task that Draco was happy to see was being taken as seriously as any other holy ritual. In truth he doubted that this offering was going to be enough to earn a blessing from Grandfather Nurgle, but if pleased him enough so that the Lord of Despair would ignore the Hope and Change that Draco was bringing about then it would have been worth it.

Besides, Draco couldn't help but feel something akin to kinship with Grandfather Nurgle; Out of all the gods, Nurgle was the one who spent most of his time slaving away in front of a pot, trying to cook up new and wonderful flavors of illness and plague to offer up to a hard to please galaxy. The God was a chef at heart.

Stepping out of the kitchen and walking into his office in order to have deal with the parts of running the Noble Soup Kitchen that didn't require him to be working in a kitchen, he took a moment to look at his meetings for the day before he started to work on the logistics paperwork to make sure that there would be plenty of supplies for the offering to Khorne tomorrow; Rare, spit roasted meat dripping with blood with a collection of hot and spicy spices in order to give it that flavor kick... combined with a limited amount of water jugs in the serving area which will no doubt result in numerous fights over who got a drink to try and cool their mouths down throughout the day that will no doubt result in several deaths when they escalated. Pausing in his work for a moment, Draco made a memo to ensure that the serving knives would likewise be limited but that they would be nice and sharp.

Done. I decided to stay up a bit longer then I planned but at least its up and good.
Province 7

After almost a full year of holding back the ever evolving tide of dark monsters that had been pouring in from the East, Autumn had finally brought a much needed reprieve in the form of reinforcements. With their somewhat tattered ranks not only restored but swelling beyond the numbers that they had come to the province it, the veterans of Province 7 finally had the ability to go on leave so that they might rest and recover from the nearly year long ordeal.

The signs of their last, despite defense of the Province in order to buy themselves, Tushienia and the rest of the world more time still burned several months later; In front of the first line of defense stood the still burning swampland that the defenders had created, pouring oil, tar and even using earth magic to move coal deposits and funnel gas pockets to it to ensure that when they lit it up with fire magic, it would stay burning for a very, very long time.

A time that they themselves were cutting short.

With the influx of new troops and the ability to rebuild and redesign the various lines of defensive without being harried, the fire wall had served its purpose of stalling the enemy advance in the north; If they left it up, the dark monsters of the east would simply head south and go around them, overwhelming one of the southern provinces. Better to cut the fire off from its fuel and let it mostly burn out to divert darkness forces into a nation that was entrenched and ready to face them instead of overwhelming a battered one.

It might take until the winter snows set in for the fire to die down enough for the darkness to begin assaulting them new, but they would be ready for them.

....................................

There was an old saying in Tushienia: 'If you understand yourself and the enemy, you will be the victor even after one hundred battles. If you understand yourself but not the enemy, for every victory you achieve you will also suffer a defeat. If you neither understand yourself or the enemy, you will succumb in every battle.'

Tushienia had been fortunate when it came to the battles with the Darkness; While it had been an unknown foe and good solders had died due to it's evolving tactics and units, not an inch of Tushienia's territory or that of her allies had been lost to it yet despite its best efforts. The bodies of the foul, unliving creatures were torn apart in order to be studied, patterns starting to emerge in their design that could be exploited in order to bring about their swift ends while the nature of their design was discussed and debated openly in coffee shops and universities across the nation.

What had once been an unknown foe had been dragged out of the shadows and into the light; They were still a threat, but the fear and horrible awe that the creatures relied upon to break resistance was no longer present in Tushienia. The unknown enemy had been made known to all and it could be killed.

@Romero

I'm sorry, things got crazy for me! One more day and I'll get a post up I swear!
@Muffinator

Maybe a little.
@Muffinator

More like a heroic, non lethal version of this.
@Drifting Pollen

So people would notice him 'comically' fall backwards.
@Romero

The time really does fly these days. I'll get a post up tomorrow. I do confess that I look forwards to seeing what you're up to...
And Gutter is now hiding under the table. Crowds of people and being in a lit up area worry him greatly.
The transformation of the human woman into a RAPTOR of all things seemed to have been a bit to much for Gutter. Squeaking loudly as he pushed away from the table, the ratman throwing himself back into the chair and flipping it over, causing Gutter to vanish from sight as the chair hit the floor; Strangely enough, those that bothered to look to see if he was alright would find that the rat was gone!

After his 'accident', Gutter had used the broken line of sight with the humans to dart underneath the table and into the shade. Granted it wasn't exactly the darkness that he was used to or wanted to be hiding in, but just being out of sight of the humans above seemed to make him more at ease. While he liked and wanted to help humans, he found being in sight of them... difficult. They were always quick to judge him a monster just at the sight of him and thus he just found it easier for all concerned to simply not be seen at all.

His ears twitched as he listened to what was going on above quietly, not really feeling in the mood for asking another question again. Not yet anyway.
