I think to sell someone on an interest check, it's really important to seem enthusiastic about your own idea. That means writing more than a single sentence to attract potential players.

Did you know that Dante's inferno is called a divine comedy because things work out for the protagonist? Back in the day, the only two genres were comedy and drama. The only difference was that in a comedy, the protagonist is better off at the end, and a drama is the opposite. So that's why a story about going through hell can still be considered a comedy, even if it's not funny.

Name:
Broken Promise, BP, Boss

Age:
Old enough to know better, too young to care. (that is to say 30's)

Preferred RPs:
I Prefer to make my own, but will occasionally join something if it looks interesting. I'll join just about anything so long as it isn’t overly edgy/sweet, though it's rare for me to do. I don't do 1x1s too often either.

Preferred Roles:
I tend to play adorable characters everyone wants to befriend or proper assholes everyone wants to stay away from. I try not to play moral paragons or prime evils.

RP Conquests:
I've completed quite a few RP's off site, but most of them are on private forums or have simply been lost to the ravages of server crashes. As for stuff here, I'm sure everyone who sees me post in the off topic sections has seen me find an excuse to talk about Danganronpa: Tower of Carnage. It's a project that took over 4 years to complete and I feel pride not only for myself but all the wonderful people who helped make it enjoyable during its run. Re: Zero: The High Council Is technically my first, but it was just something I kind of took over and ended up ending the story after just six months. It finished, but eh...

Last RP I finished was Symphony of Espers which turned out pretty good.

RP's in progress:
For some reason I can't seem to stay away from Ari's magical girl RP, even if I'm not sure why I'm still in it.

As for my own projects, I'm doing Symphony on High to continue the gigachad adventures of the espers in Pax Septimus.

RP Graveyard:
I've been pretty fortunate on this forum. I think I joined one when I first came on the site that didn't really do anything, and there are a few 1x1 things that didn't go anywhere. It's disappointing when an RP ends before it can be finished, but I've come to look at them as learning experiences.

And then there's that london magical girl RP, and that dark magical girl RP. I think I'm done joining magical girl RPs for a while.

Other interests:
Videos
I watch a lot of educational videos on youtube. Usually as research for something I’m writing or purely because a topic interests me. I like channels like Tier Zoo and Daryl Talks Games, and I’ll also watch things like Critical Drinker or Literature Devil to deepen my understanding of story telling. Though I also like memes and jokes, to which I’ll find myself watching stuff like Sseth, but usually find myself surfing through meme videos. I gotta work on that.

Games
I have a rather long history of playing virtually every platformer to come into existence during the indie boom, as well as quite a few other indie games. I’ve played Meatboy, Binding of Issac, Gunvolt, Cuphead, Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt, Classic Metroid, Warcraft 3, Final Fantasy 7,8, and 14, Left 4 Dead, Shantae, Celeste, Danganronpa, God Eater, the list goes on. What I’ve played is kind of all over the place. I don’t play many games these days, I tend to pick things that look interesting and go on a decent steam sale.

Painting Minis
I do this in moderation. Otherwise, it's a pretty expensive hobby to start...

Music
I listen to everything, save most country/rap songs. I have too many favorites to name.

Personality:
Not one to take life or the internet too seriously. Is only serious about writing well and having a good time.

People to Insult:
Dalton is a Dingus.

Hello, Mono… yaaawwwwwwn.

R E D A C T E D

A while ago…

Makoto had done it. he was the principle of hope’s peak high school. He was sitting in the big principle chair in front of his big imposing desk. He had a gold name plate, a picture of Koyoko, and a few pens arranged on his desk. He had finished going through all of his paperwork, which was resting in a tidy pile on the corner of his desk. He was wearing a black suit, which made him look pretty sharp if he had to say so himself, and his office was spotless. This level of tidiness was not limited to his office. The rest of hope’s peak was just as emasculate. Friendly teachers, clean classrooms, he had it all. The only thing that might have seemed off was that Makoto did not look happy. He was worried, and for good reason. Despite all that he offered, he was missing the one thing that would make this school really work.

Students.

Byakuya had entered the room just a few minutes ago, and was explaining the situation to Makoto.

”My funding is not unlimited.” Byakuya placed a sheet of paper in front of Makoto. It was a simple pie chart showing the school’s spending, along with a few bar graphs to make comparisons between income and expenses. ”I thought it might be easier to absorb if pictures were involved.” That was likely a slight towards Makoto’s intelligence, but he ignored it. ”I’ve had no luck finding angel investors for your project. The public at large is not interested in Hope’s Peak high school so it is difficult to get students. Even if we shut down all the labs, there isn’t enough income to keep your staff employed.”

”Can we make them more interested?” Makoto placed his hands on his desk. ”Schools are one of the things that we’re going to need in order to build a brighter future, and few were as good as Hope’s Peak!”

”Still an enthusiastic high school student.” Byakuya clicked his tongue. ”Junko did a number on our reputation. It doesn’t help that Hajime and his classmates were formerly remnants of despair and you openly let them help you run things. Everyone is concerned that the whole thing could happen again.”

”But Hajime is a hero!” Makoto sighed. ”So what do we do?”

”Our options are pretty limited.” Byakuya pushed his glasses up on his nose. ”We could rebrand, but the students of Hope’s Peak is always going to be associated with Ultimate Despair. Our best bet is to sell our assets to someone unaffiliated.”

The door to the office opened up, and another voice chimed in.

"That won’t work either."

A younger Davis looked at the two men, a broad smile on his face. "The public isn’t going to trust an unknown to run Hope’s Peak. It’s too much power for one person to have."

Byakuya fret his brow. ”Please wait outside. I invited you, but you still need to wait.”

”Wait, I know who you are!” Makoto stood up. ”You’re from America! You’re part of the group everyone’s calling Neo Slayer. You were once a student here too!”

Davis shrugged, but continued to grin. "Davis is fine. But if you want to keep things formal, Mr Gallo also works."

Byakuya groaned. ”Is there something you need?”

"It’s less what I want, and more what we want." Davis stepped out of the way, and the door swung open again.

What walked into the room was a slightly disheveled school girl. Her clothes looked to be on the finer side, clearly marking her as a wealthier person. Though the buttons further down her blouse were left unbuttoned. Her jeans clashed with the otherwise refined accessories she wore. A silver necklace and studded earnings were classy. Her pink phone covered in key charms was not. And then when she opened her mouth…

”Oy! Ya wee cunt!”

”E-excuse me?” Byakuya stepped back.

”Ya bloomin’ idiot! I can hear ya flappin’ ya cunt mouth on the other side of the door!” She sipped her coffee through a straw. It was loud, and no one dared speak up. ”When are ya gunna learn that doin’ things behind closed doors causes fuckin’ problems? The cunts before you did it, and ya doin’ it again now!”

"She’s a riot, isn’t she?" Davis laughed. "This is Olivia Smith. She lead the orphans responsible for ending the saints and sinners killing game. She’s no less deserving of standing here than any of us." He grinned again. ”You know I’ve never been much for swearing, but there is something therapeutic about watching a little girl call someone a cunt, isn’t there?"

Byakuya folded his arms harder. ”I don’t appreciate eavesdropping.”

Makoto cleared his throat and stood up straight. He was still a principle, and he couldn’t let a little girl get the best of him. ”It’s nice to meet you, Olivia.” Makoto smiled. As dire as things were, he realized how absurd the present situation was. ”So why are you and Davis here.”

”Haven’t figured it out?” More slurping. Oddly smug slurping. ”It ain’t just Japan, the world is fucked. The government cunts have fallen and we need a symbol to unite under. Somethin’ beyond ultimate.”

"Something infinite." Davis added. "I hope you don’t mind, but I invited the survivors of every killing game around the world to your facility. There’s a few hundred of them."

Makoto's eyes shot open. ”Everyone’s here?”

"That’s correct." Davis’s face became more stern. "Look, we’re all survivors of a killing game. Apart we’re nothing, The three of us are former Hope’s peak students, while Olivia is just an orphan. Together though we’re the guys and girls who saw Ultimate Despair and kicked its ass."

”Right in its arse!” Olivia kicked the air before looking at Byakuya, who just rolled his eyes.

”It sounds like you have an idea. Are you going to stop glory standing and tell us what it is?”

Davis nodded. "Sure! I can't take full credit for it. It really won’t work without everyone’s cooperation." Davis scratched his chin. "I guess I’ll start with the name first. We’re calling it the Infinity Initiative…"

"I see…"

Shona took her hand off of her sword and fell against the wall before closing her eyes.

Cyrus kept his distance. ”What do you think?”

"Without a shadow of doubt, I died. Or at least, I thought I would." She opened her eyes to look at the group. "I decided a long time ago that if I was going to die before old age, I wanted to go out a certain way." She looked to Daimyon. "And one detail was that I would say those words before I parted this world."

”You wrote us a letter too. It also ended with those words.” He gestured for Daimyon to hand it to him, then he could hand it to Shona.

Her cheeks flushed red as her eyes scanned the letter. "It’s so personal." Her eyes shimmered. "I must have known I was going to die, but I have no memory of writing this." She turned to Cyrus. "What does it mean?"

Jezebel stepped around Zachary to aproch Shona. “Did you, like, get amnesia and junk?”

It wasn’t difficult for Alice Masson to catch up with Alice Parker. Parker was taking her time walking to the top floor. She had taken the stairs to the second floor and had made little progress in her search for Davis. She destroyed any carnage sister she came across though. It didn’t matter how many of them came, or what type they were. Carnage sisters, champions, chassis, a swing from her arms was enough to turn most of them into scrap. When they were too far away, she’d simply fire at them with one of her arm mounted guns. Parker was so thorough with her executions that Masson hardly had time aiming, let alone shoot, at anything.

”You wanted to protect someone, didn’t you?” Parker didn’t look at Masson when she spoke. ”Tell them to hurry up. The higher I go, the more likely my sisters are to bypass me and attack the lower floors.”

Where shaman girls?

— Su Fang

@ERode

Seeing the girl’s ring helped Su relax. Since they were both in a relationship, she didn’t have to worry about getting hit on. Not that Su would normally be concerned about such things, but raves were strange places. Though Su did have to wonder how marriage worked with magical girls. Unless the shrine maiden’s spouse was a normal human, which had too many different implications to name. Though it was hard not to admire someone who respected their vows. She resisted the urge to point out Helga, if only because marriage could be a sensitive topic. Maybe once she felt her out a bit.

“Baijiu?” Her smile widened. Of course Su was familiar with the liquor. It was a product of China after all. “Thank you, but I’ll have to decline for the moment.” Baijiu could be anywhere between 80-120 proof. Not something she could handle on an empty stomach.

“Lei Zi? Ah, like the Chinese god of lightning, Leizi.” Su thought this magical girl was a little different than most. She seemed to be Chinese, just like her. Though she really hoped this one wasn’t another chuuni. “Well, you know how it is for us. Missionary, hotel manager, we’re doing it for our patrons.” She chuckled. “If Boteg felt safer in a shrine, I’m sure I’d be a missionary too.” The dragon lady folded her arms. “We use to travel a lot before he decided to settle down here. I do miss the changing scenery, but you can’t beat a home. Knowing you’ll have a place to sleep is great. Though I think I could have pick a better city.” Lei Zi wasn’t making much effort to maintain eye contact, and neither was Su. Her eyes were scanning the rave, keeping track of where her family was. “Does Tian Rong guides you to 'storms' because they want you to quell them?”

"Dance Dance Revolution: Magical Rave Edition!"

— Trixy

@Flamelord@FamishedPants

When Trixy entered the rave, she knew she wasn’t going to be able to relax. Such a feat was impossible, given her very reason for going there was to carry out an operation. But Veronica’s most recent message over magicoms had her shaking with worry. She could handle operations. It was being forced to wait for things to unfold that upset her. Then there was Justine’s presence, the possibility of Katelynlying in wait, and Eliza confirming Maura’s grim prediction. But when she looked to Samantha, she appeared to be calm. It didn’t make Trixy’s worries go away, but it remind her that she was surrounded by the best of the best. If something happened, her fellow agents and her could handle it. Hopefully. With a sigh, she looked to the girls.

"Ehhhhhh heh!" Trixy used her sleeve to wipe some sweat off of her head. "A dance off? I don’t think that’s very beginner friendly." Though it seemed like Samantha was leaving for drinks. There was no getting out of this one. "Something to drink? Ah, how about a pizza?" Trixy was still a bit nervous. "I-I mean, something fruity! I don’t really know of many drinks. But yea! I think they were selling pizza slices too. Thanks Sam!" She watched Samantha vanished into the crowd.

That was when Alicia approached. "C-chaotic? Ha!" Trixy laughed and placed her hands on her hips. This was the girl she wanted to film, she just needed to be cool and she wouldn’t run off. "You must be new to these things. It’s normally so chaotic, why, you’d struggle to hear an assassination attempt. " Trixy placed a reassuring hand on Alicia’s shoulder. "This party is so lit, you might think that Justine was in attendance." Trixy chuckled to herself. "Why, I bet if Beacon showed up-" Oh, Samantha came back with a drink and pizza slice. Now the pizza slice that was not requested in the previous post. This has to do with the fact that Famished did not consider the possibility that Trixy would ask for such a thing. I mean who eats pizza before dancing? Trixy does, cause she hungry AF. If the Pizza was not purchased or prepared for any reason, just read through the rest of this post as Trixy being mildly upset. It’s a choose your own adventure now baby, you be the judge! Look I needed to sleep, you won’t make me feel bad about it.

"Ahhhh ~ <3" Trixy opted to enjoy her food without using her devour to consume it. The babe in blue seemed like she could freak out over watching her eat her meal in one go. So she just took a sip and a bite for now. Trixy nodded at Samantha before setting everything on a nearby table. "As you command, bringer of pizza and drink!"

Even in the fringes of the party, the floor was a bit crowded. There wasn’t a ton of room to do the jumps and spins that a normal ballerina could muster. But that hardly mattered to a magical girl. Trixy stretched one last time before getting a running start. She hopped, skipped, then leaped into the air. There were a lot of lights in the rave, and those lights had to be held up by sturdy brackets. While some were mounted directly to the ceiling, others needed plenty of clearance to function properly. It was on these brackets where Trixy had all the clearance she needed. After a dizzying array of spins and flips, she locked her legs around a vertical pole and hung upside down, grinning at her competitor below.

“This sucks.”

— Mika Sarraf

@Rune_Alchemist

The caramel dance wasn’t difficult, but it was more complex than most people give it credit for. Sadly, rampant weebs who only watched the music video would have you believe the dance is far simpler than it actually is. Just a simple two step dance repeated for infinity. Mika was a weeb. Mika also bored easily.

“Mmmmm…”

This was stupid. Mika was aware of it. The main reason why she came here was because she knew it would get Su and Helga off her back. The fact of the matter was that neither Rina or Mika wanted to be here. They would have been just as happy doing something in the beach dimension. The music planet was at least a million times better than this dump, and she was sure Rina wouldn’t feel awkward about the whole thing. Heck, Rina offered to help clean her room, yet had reservations about coming to the rave. All Mika had gotten was a sympathetic head rub and a back handed comment about her dancing. If this was how the rest of the night was going to go, something had to change. That was when Mika sniffed the air a bit…

“That was fun!” She smiled at her dance partner, and her tag waived back and forth. “You know what would be really fun? If we played hide and seek!” She leaned forward and tapped Rina. “Boop! You’re it!” She didn’t even wait for a response before diving between some dancers. The cat girl shape shifted into whatever she needed in order to get through the heart of the rave. A panther, a snake, whatever shape squeezed through the easiest. In just a few seconds, Mika managed to blend into the rave. Though it was still possible to spot the occasional dancer looking at their feet. Something was moving around the rave, and it looked to be heading for Silhouette and the beacon girls.
I mean sure, my Danganronpa RP is, of course, a Danganronpa RP. I mean it has a lot of differences that fans will notice, but it has 1 cannon character and lightly touches on the lore.

I play in an RP that's all about magical girls. Doesn't really rely on any type of IP. Just some random city in America loaded with magical girls and the occasional magical boy. There are dragons, gods, cosmic horrors, aliens, etc. If that sounds farcical, that's CYOA RPS for you. It's original, but magical girls aren't. The idea of characters having powers attuned to an element or force is also 'unoriginal.'

Ultimately, I think people use fandoms because it's easy to communicate an idea. I can say "Hey, I've got an anime RP where you can be ninjas, b-but the ninjas have magical powers and get into big fights!" or I can say "I've got a Naruto RP, come look." Problem is you can't really talk to people about your RP in the topic title very well. Both RPS I've described have been going for about 3 years now, so I don't really look at the rest of the forum much.

Query 'o mine: What is a weird habit of yours that you enjoy in the extreme and is not something you share with others? Doesn't have to be due to its shameful nature, could just be quirky or superstitious.

I'm not even sure how to answer that.

I don't really have anything that fits that description. Closest I can come is how I go autistic when it comes to planning out certain aspects of an RP. I like planning things, and sometimes the details are so small that nobody notices them. Sometimes things change and I need to go back to the drawing board, or cut away things that might have seemed important at the time. But I enjoy it and that's all that matters. Does that work?

Another question: What is your favorite card game and why? Or if you don't have one, what is your favorite game?

@Mateotis @Majoras End @FamishedPants

Another update, because woohoo, why not?

Cyrus was preparing to give everyone a speech when Zachary left like he had no shits to give. ”Zachary!”

Jezebel walked after him. “Like, it could be a trap!” She rubbed her eyes. Her tears from earlier still hadn’t dried. “Whatever, I’ll cover you!” She reached into the chest for a hammer before catching up with him.

”Wait here!” Cyrus ordered the others before walking after the two.

Zachary didn’t have to walk far. There were three elevators right at the end of the hall, and he was sure one of them had monokuma's "reward."

"Abandon hope all the who enter here?"

Zachary would not have to walk around the corner to see who was in the elevator, as they walked out in front of him first.
