I think to sell someone on an interest check, it's really important to seem enthusiastic about your own idea. That means writing more than a single sentence to attract potential players.

Did you know that Dante's inferno is called a divine comedy because things work out for the protagonist? Back in the day, the only two genres were comedy and drama. The only difference was that in a comedy, the protagonist is better off at the end, and a drama is the opposite. So that's why a story about going through hell can still be considered a comedy, even if it's not funny.
Name:
Broken Promise, BP, Boss
Age:
Old enough to know better, too young to care. (that is to say 30's)
Preferred RPs:
I Prefer to make my own, but will occasionally join something if it looks interesting. I'll join just about anything so long as it isn’t overly edgy/sweet, though it's rare for me to do. I don't do 1x1s too often either.
Preferred Roles:
I tend to play adorable characters everyone wants to befriend or proper assholes everyone wants to stay away from. I try not to play moral paragons or prime evils.
RP Conquests:
I've completed quite a few RP's off site, but most of them are on private forums or have simply been lost to the ravages of server crashes. As for stuff here, I'm sure everyone who sees me post in the off topic sections has seen me find an excuse to talk about Danganronpa: Tower of Carnage. It's a project that took over 4 years to complete and I feel pride not only for myself but all the wonderful people who helped make it enjoyable during its run. Re: Zero: The High Council Is technically my first, but it was just something I kind of took over and ended up ending the story after just six months. It finished, but eh...
For some reason I can't seem to stay away from Ari's magical girl RP, even if I'm not sure why I'm still in it.
As for my own projects, I'm doing Symphony on High to continue the gigachad adventures of the espers in Pax Septimus.
RP Graveyard:
I've been pretty fortunate on this forum. I think I joined one when I first came on the site that didn't really do anything, and there are a few 1x1 things that didn't go anywhere. It's disappointing when an RP ends before it can be finished, but I've come to look at them as learning experiences.
And then there's that london magical girl RP, and that dark magical girl RP. I think I'm done joining magical girl RPs for a while.

Videos
I watch a lot of educational videos on youtube. Usually as research for something I’m writing or purely because a topic interests me. I like channels like Tier Zoo and Daryl Talks Games, and I’ll also watch things like Critical Drinker or Literature Devil to deepen my understanding of story telling. Though I also like memes and jokes, to which I’ll find myself watching stuff like Sseth, but usually find myself surfing through meme videos. I gotta work on that.
Games
I have a rather long history of playing virtually every platformer to come into existence during the indie boom, as well as quite a few other indie games. I’ve played Meatboy, Binding of Issac, Gunvolt, Cuphead, Princess Remedy in a World of Hurt, Classic Metroid, Warcraft 3, Final Fantasy 7,8, and 14, Left 4 Dead, Shantae, Celeste, Danganronpa, God Eater, the list goes on. What I’ve played is kind of all over the place. I don’t play many games these days, I tend to pick things that look interesting and go on a decent steam sale.
Painting Minis
I do this in moderation. Otherwise, it's a pretty expensive hobby to start...
Music
I listen to everything, save most country/rap songs. I have too many favorites to name.

Not one to take life or the internet too seriously. Is only serious about writing well and having a good time.
@reaping Adder when you make a thread, you can select if you want it to be ranked or not. If it's ranked, you can call a moderator in once the fight is over and points get distributed. At least that was how it worked in the past.
My RP characters have killed lots and lots of people, and I don't feel like a murder yet. so I don't think characters having sex is the same as, say, the players having sex.
Though I keep plenty of distance between myself and my characters. I'm usually not living vicariously through them, doing things that I'd like to do. If you look at the other person's character as their player, then your feelings of guilt will likely only get stronger after your character bumps uglies with them. Worst come to worst, you can talk to your partner about it.
”Excuse me?” Viridian had not been addressed, but you can bet she had an opinion of it. ”When I said you could do whatever, I didn’t mean pitch your strongest girl against Justine to buy time! Look honey, ya gotta get Justine and Sonya apart before they over take you. Right now there ain’t nothin’ preventing them for calling for beacon reinforcements!”
That was when a stray shot actually damaged the STRING, causing part of it to break apart. It immediately returned to string form and fell into Viridian’s waiting hands. A minor inconvenience. Aside from being able to freely communicate with everyone, the downing of the tower would do little to hamper Viridian’s ability to communicate with her agents, who were still aware of the enemy’s exact position.
”Seems like Mariette doesn’t have the salt Veronica thought she did. We might just have to stage a coup, agents.” Viridian sunk into one of her shadow portals and appeared…elsewhere. ”Silhouette, Ronin is likely going to try and save Mariette. You have my permission to help her when that happens. It’s true that Veronica gave her word that she would do nothing to go against Mariette’s plans, but that’s why I’m in charge now, haha! Oh, but do make sure Mariette survives all this. We need her to ensure Justine doesn’t get away.” The cradle agents could practically feel Viridian smile. ”I ain’t leaving without that bitch’s head.”
Dusty was struck and killed, adding another tragic death to the doppleganger’s string of misfortunes. Both her body and gun blew into dust. None of Trixy’s clones remained.
Helga and Su came through the portal before the former familiar responded. “I agree Helga, but there wasn’t much we could do on our own. I hadn’t even anticipated I’d get to Justine.”
Then they listened to Mariette.
”Heh! Guess those weretigers are stronger than they look.” Trixy rubbed her nose. ”I still wanna get back out there, but you can drop me wherever. I can support from afar, and I can bite.” She used the brief respite to load up her gun.
“Mariette, this is unwise.” Su folded her arms before leaning against the wall. “If you’re not safe here, your best option is to move to a new location. Their forces are divided, meanwhile you can be wherever you’d like. While we fight defensively, Justine is going to keep attacking the mansion until you’re forced to reveal yourself. Dan isn’t preventing Sonia from teleporting, and as a result, Justine is unstoppable. Wiping out Beacon is not the goal, stopping Justine is!” She fret her brow and lowered her eyes to the ground. “ I’m not sure Justine needs to die. She honestly believes that you are responsible for what’s happened to Penrose. I’m not sure how to break through to her though...” Her eyes rose back up to meet Mariette’s. “Regardless, if everyone’s in the mansion, it seems like the perfect time to attack Sonia. If we can get rid of her, Justine will be vulnerable. Leave a crew here to distract Beacon if you must, but the real threat is outside, hurling bloody spear after spear at your home. Us fighting Beacon is exactly what she wants.”

Gunna tell ya about that time everything was going wrong in my life. Without getting into details, work and home life were kind of crappy, and roleplaying was the only thing I could take solace in. I wasn't old enough to drink, give me a break.
Oh and this happened about a decade or so ago on another forum.
Now I'm not going to say I was exactly fun to play with in that mental state, but it wasn't made any better by the fact that our GM was, for lack of a better word, a cunt. He liked to press buttons and get people riled up. He was unable to sense the mood and didn't really have the ability to tell when he had gone too far. Much to his surprise, this type of behavior made me angrier and less likely to post. I was also becoming extremely vocal about the shortcomings of both him and the other players. It could no longer be contained in our messenger and spilled out onto the forum. No player was safe from my wrath. Naturally, others tried to tell me that I was being too negative and I should lay off, even pointing out my own shortcomings as an attempt to fire back. It got so bad that one player eventually wrote a meme IC post that addressed me and how "bad" I was for point out his shitty grammar. At that point the GM closed the RP.
Internet Drama: Not even once.
Looking back on it, I think the situation was handled poorly by everyone involved. I was probably the one most responsible for bringing the RP to its knees, but looking at it from the outside, there were things the GM and their players could have done better. This is a cautionary tale, because I now know how to deal with (and have dealt with) people who were in my position.
Firstly, if one of your players is acting a bit off, talk to them. In private is best, as no one likes to talk about personal stuff out in the open. Don't worry about trying to help them. Most of the time just listening is enough. A simple "That really sucks" lets them know you feel where they are coming from.
If they insist nothing is wrong, or continue to act out and bother people, then you might have to make the hard choice and let them go. One angry roleplayer can sink an RP, I've both been that roleplayer and had roleplayers like that in my RPs. Your other players will thank you for kicking the bully off the playground.
I used to spend so much time just playing pointless "games" on Spam. Why did I do that? Fuck if I know, but I definitely missed out on some good RPs due to that weird fixation with numbers n shit.
When someone puts effort into their interest check, often they will put effort into the RP itself. A good check shows you are willing to put in that effort.
If it is a chore to finish a RP, shouldn't you call it quits before it gets to that point? If you aren't having fun and are just doing it to be a completionist it just seems weird to me. Sometimes the best thing you can to do is pull the plug and move on.
Why learn how to play the guitar? why learn how to draw? Why play ultra-difficult videogames? Why pursue a hobby you will never perfect when easier alternatives exist?
Because nothing worth doing comes easy.
For me, completing my Danganronpa RP was a very rewarding experience. But it's not something I recommend for everyone. I'm not sure I'll run another RP like that any time soon, not for four years anyway, haha!
I suppose around the 2 year mark there was a lot of drama and it was tempting to pull the plug because things were getting hard. But if I did that, I never would have been able to experience all the highs that came in the third and forth years of the RP. The energy levels are lower now that there's just a few players left, but it's really fun to see how excited they are. I still keep in touch with many of the old players, and I don't think they would remember me as fondly if I pulled the plug on the RP while they were still having fun.
I only bring up that some RPs are a chore because I think a lot of people think you just start an RP, have fun, and then the end just sort of happens. But the truth is most RPs that finish require some amount of sacrifice to get to the end. You need to compromise and work with others even if you are the GM. I think there are some people who will never complete an RP because they just want to follow the fun, and that's fine.
Something else I'd like to say that didn't get hammered home enough in my other post is that sometimes finishing an RP just isn't fun. You feel accomplished when it happens but it can be a drag to get that far. You're not always smiling and hugging your RP buddies, sometimes you're slouching in your chair, vodka in one hand and an empty mug in the other, thinking "Glad that's over!"
