Oshiro Shin

7:30 - 8:20
Oshiro Residence

The high pitched shriek of the alarm had woken Shin. His slow rise out of bed had been hastened by the sharp pains he felt along his ribs. His body contracting, he quickly grasped the source of his pain. Deep breaths. It was the only way he could cope with such a thing. But in his mind, the pain was worth it. It made him feel. While not savoring it, he accepted his injuries. They were worth it. But the pain began to subside. Once it did, he got up and entered the washroom.

Gauze, tape, scissors, and bandages were already littering the countertop. All had been haphazardly used. Shin looked into the mirror and at himself. His body was covered in bandages hastily put on. A piece of gauze on his cheek, one on his ribs, one on his neck and a cut on his nose that he had missed. Each one was caked with dried blood. One by one, Shin pulled them off. Crackling as the tape was pulled off, the gauze seemed to stick before finally coming off. Taking a wet wipe, he cleaned his cuts. He carefully replaced the gauze. A single bandage was placed on the bridge of his nose.

Finishing his morning routine, he brushed his teeth and got dressed. Entering the kitchen, it was hauntingly empty. Rather, it looked like nobody had used it in months. The only thing on the table was a ¥2000 bill.

"Not even a note..." Shin said in a hollow tone.

The pocketed the bill and left his home. His walk towards the school was uneventful. He heard some things about the end of the world, rabies, and general panicking but that was normal. Shin didn't live in the best of neighborhoods. Hearing people freak out about things being stolen or people fighting was normal. Approaching the school gates, Shin stood still. He was on his last chance. He couldn't skip out on any more classes or else he couldn't graduate. He entered the school, ready for the day to simply pass like it always did.

Name:
Oshiro Shin

Gender:
Male

Age:
18

Appearance Description:
Standing at 179 cm, Shin is taller than average. His hair is unkempt and his style is lazy. It's easy to tell that he wears whatever is clean. Despite his eyes being so sharp, his expression is unexpectedly soft, yet feels void of emotion. His body is constantly covered in bandages. Every time a bandage is removed, another crops up in a different place. His body is covered in mostly small scars, save for a dog bite scar on his left forearm and a series of short scars on his knuckles.

Former Life:
Third year

Clubs:
"Literature" Club

Gear:
Whatever he can find around him right now.

Skills:
Rather than being actually trained to fight, Shin is good at brawling. While not the best at hand to hand combat, he uses sand, bricks, sticks, and anything he can get his hands on to surprising success.

On account of his constant injuries, Shin has learned to use first aid patch himself (and by extension: others) up. While he can't deal with something like a broken arm or a large gash, he can do minor stitching and treatment for smaller things like broken ribs, cuts, and twisted ankles.

Seeing how he's of age, Shin can drive a car. He knows basic maintenance - nothing special. He's especially adept at not driving into walls and killing everyone inside. However, he's no Fujiwara Takumi.

Shin is tenacious. Not because he's durable - he stands his ground based purely on his desire to live in the fight for just a bit longer. Even if his knuckles break, he'll still punch. Even if his ribs crack, he'll still take blows. He only stops a fight when he's unconscious or his morality ends up overtaking his bloodlust.

Likes & Dislikes:
• Pain - both ways
• Hanging out with friends
• Smoking

◦ His prospects
◦ Himself
◦ Others being unjustly hurt

Personality:
An emotionally dulled youth, Shin doesn't really feel much. He feels little joy, sadness, or anger. While some feelings do surface for a while, those moments are brief. Instead, he aches for violence; the solitary sensation of suffering is one of the few things that makes him feel alive.

However, he hates this part of him. He knows he's wrong for thinking of it. He self-loathes, but he can't stop his fantasies. But his hatred of himself has only made him wish he was a better person. As such, he consciously makes efforts to be virtuous. His natural fearlessness has both helped and hindered him.

Biography:
For as long as Shin could remember, he was like this. He loved fighting. It made him feel alive. It was better than the nothingness he felt before and after the brawls. He first felt it when he was no older than his first year in junior high. Attacked by a stray dog, he fought back. When the dog finally gave up, Shin didn't stop.

He continued for a long time.

Shin was disgusted, but he couldn't lie to himself. He loved it. His path quickly degenerated. What average grades he had dropped. What little time he spent alone, he fought. He lived for the fight. He couldn't tell anyone, of course. It was only him. He fixed his own wounds, picked his own fights, smoked to deal with the stress. It wasn't long before he stumbled his way into high school.

At first, he joined the mixed martial arts club. It worked for a while, his violent nature overcame the rules of MMA. He was kicked out. His teacher, willing to give Shin a second chance, forced him into the literature club. Consisting of mostly upper classmen who actually liked books and freshman delinquents the school wanted to help. Shin slowly got better. He wished to help others. He wanted to change. The president and other upperclassmen helped him understand himself. The other delinquents, of course, are his only friends after everyone else graduated.

While still a delinquent, he's a better person than he once was.

Other:
Loves the now-graduated president of the literature club.
Has three friends.

Sorry for not saying this earlier. Most likely bowing out. Kept on saying I'll sleep on my answer, and I accidentally done a ton of sleeping.
Just as a warning, runes drain the user's energy while active, and draw more the stronger the spell is. Coupled with his means of fighting, that's really risky. Are you sure about the powerset? Don't wanna turn you away, but I do just wanna give you a warning just in case. c:

As I said, he's not a smart man.
I'd be down if I get to make a character like my waifu Ash

I'd give it a whirl.
