It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. In my first ever roleplay I created a character who was experimented on when he was eight years old along with other older children to become biological weapons by a mad scientist and he was the only who survived since the others either killed themselves or literally melted into a puddle of blood? He then blows up the lab and escapes to wind up in a village where he's adopted into family, but there's a problem. His adoptive father is an abusive alcholic that beat my character, his wife, and his daughter. In a drunken rage he beat his wife to death and in a fit of anger my character murdered him. At that time his adoptive sister was very ill and he decided that he would carry her to the capital all by himself. When they arrived after weeks of hardship they were denied entry to the capital and his sister died in his arms.

And to sum up the next part, mad scientist is alive and had become an evolving mass of darkness and my character finds out that he is his clone and thus his 'family.'

I can go pretty dark myself.

A couple of my past characters have been dark, but I haven't really gone all out yet.

Lets see...

One of my characters was a little unstable, but had a kindly adopted father who looked out for him. On his birthday, he took him out for a special surprise treat. But they get attacked by a demon, who tore his adopted parent to shreds and ate him in front of his eyes. It the proceeds to drag him to a parallel demon world. -rp plot stuff- basicaly humans that go into this world can sometimes gain powers. Once there, his power and madness awaken, and he destroys the demon...only to fuse with it. Out of his mind mad, he wanders the world, seeking death, but he became so strong that none he encountered could kill him. He eventually recovers some semblance of sanity, and finds a way bace to the human world, only to find that it is several centuries later.

... That is the cliff notes version, Unfortunatly I never got to go further because the rp died in infancy...twice.

So far, my favorite may actualy be Valak. XD But Ferrin is going to be my focus. My personal main character, if you will.

Edit;: Kind of an interesting note, I usually like the "secondary character" I make the most. The one who ends up partnering with my "main character", but plays second fiddle. For example, there was a fire emblem rp awile back where I had a brilliant, but conceded tactician "main" and a tough female mercenary "secondary" where I liked the mercenary's character better. In this case, it is Valak who I like.

Not to say I dislike Ferrin, but with Valak I feel there is so much I can do with him.

I'm not sure if any of this makes sence. Its 2 am here... =.=
