Back when dinosaurs ruled the Earth, I got started with writing online on the Spore forums. Man, those were the days. We're talking like 12 years ago 2010-ish!

I've been here on and off for almost as long, and have GM'd a bunch of different things to varying success.

Perhaps. Apparently I need to start as a demigod (is this correct? it's the impression that I'm under) which means that my domain will probably be somewhat dependent on who mommy and daddy are.

I specifically chose pride, ambition, and envy because they weren't so stereotypical, though.

Go find a 50 Shades of Gray RP! Don't do this here!
Nice to see some more people in here!

@Guilty Spark

The only limitation on actual characters that I had in mind is their power. The Dungeon Keeper might empower them or give them armies and such later on, but at the beginning when we're raiding little hamlets it would be somewhat absurd to have a character that can destroy entire armies. If you make a sheet or even just share a concept, I will tell you if it's too OP. (The two characters that we have so far are fine.)

As in for participation, standard rules basically. If your character does quarrel with another and a fight breaks out, I'm mostly trusting the people involved to talk it out OOC or via PM to determine the outcome, or to just flow with it. Keep in mind that one character doesn't have to die; the fight could get broken up, one could flee, etc. If a character does die, I could just have the Dungeon Keeper resurrect them or something, or the person could make a new character. Hopefully we won't have a problem where one person seems to be metagaming or powerplaying, but if that happens I'll tell them to stop.

Did that answer you, or did you want to know something more specific?
@Hael

Mine wouldn't be insane, he would drive others insane via his hallucinations and nightmares. In any case, I doubt we'll have the conflict because the pride one is my first pick.

I don't expect for pride guy to have any allies whatsoever. He'd be too jealous to like anybody.
@Hael

Sounds like a nice guy

The ideas I'm tossing about are a rather evil (demi?)god of pride, ambition, and envy, or a slightly nicer one of dreams, illusion, and insanity.

Tin Man!
Hael

Man with incomplete history for Tin Men! :P

And on that very serious note, don't forget to read the OP and second post! If you have any ideas concerning your potential future character, wrath you would like to one day unleash upon the universe, comments on anything, or any questions at all, don't be shy.

Yeah, what's UNDATEC?

Is it Hael's little Kraken god?
The main thread is now up!

Everybody who's still interested, let's start getting all of our character sheets into the character section over there and using that OOC to talk instead of this interest check. We still aren't quite ready to begin the IC, but that will come soon enough.

The land has existed in relative harmony for the past thousand years. Great kings and powerful sorcerers exist and have created monuments to stand the test of time. There have been several conquests and civil wars within the realm of the humans, and occasionally the humans have even battled the elusive elves and dwarves. Most of the monstrous ogres, trolls, dragons, demons, and such were slain centuries ago, with the survivors having cowered in the dark for so long that many humans have forgotten that they ever existed. At the end of the day though, war is rare and far between, with plague and famine near nonexistent and most of the peasants not even knowing what it is to feel terror. Disgusting.

Fortunately for the likes of us, the ones capable of and more than willing to fix this 'problem', a blight has befallen this world. This blight is a Dungeon Keeper, a dark overlord, the one destined to rally the forces of evil. What's more is that he is seeking out champions for his cause, and has issued out a summons. A summons for those like you.

So if it hasn't been made abundantly clear yet, we're the villains that you would traditionally have your hero fight against in most traditional fantasy apocalyptic roleplays; however, here we are that apocalypse. As you may have guessed, in this roleplay you'll be some sort of rather powerful evil monster or person. Your character could be just about anything: a bloodthirsty steampunk robot that was built by dwarves but ended up going crazy and killing everything, an orc warlord, a necromancer, some kind of psychopath human lord that wants to get revenge by burning down his entire homeland... You get the point. If you want you could even start out as something really weak like a tiny goblin, an ordinary little grunt in the evil army trying to work his way up the ranks.

In any case, right now the great Dungeon Keeper is more or less just sitting in a cave plotting to take over the world. He'll need you to help him conquer, enslave, and grow more powerful, and so a good portion of this roleplay will be you following his orders. Preferably you would fulfill his tasks in a timely and efficient manner, as if you succeed you will no doubt be rewarded, and failure will have consequences...

The other major portion of the roleplay will be the internal politics of this evil horde. You no doubt would like to be rewarded with a pile of treasure, a huge army at your command, and the status as the Dungeon Keeper's right hand. Unfortunately, the same can most likely be said for all of your friends and rivals (the other plays in this RP) so there will likely be a fair amount of intrigue, backstabbing, and attempts to gain the master's favor.

The world is called Gaia. The region we're in is Ardebit. Here is a map of it:

Here's the standard character sheet. You can post it here or wait until we start the actual thread.

Name:
Physical Form: ((Here you can put your person's appearance, and some brief info on your character's species/race as well))
Abilities: ((Any magic that they're good at? What about melee? If they can fly or something, mention that. You get the picture.))
Personality:
Wants/Needs: ((Is your character driven by bloodlust? Greed? Do they just want promotions? This will help determine how the Dungeon Keeper rewards you.))
Relationships: ((If you want to start off with friends or rivals you can. Otherwise this can be filled out as we go along.))
Backstory: ((So what has your character done? How did they arrive at this wretched cave where our Dungeon Keeper is now located?))
Other: ((Anything else that you want to mention?))

Hey guys! I'm that guy that Hael and Lugubrious were asking about a few pages back. Until there's a decent opportunity to open this up (no hurry, I'd actually rather wait a little bit) I'll just lurk and see about reading through the IC. Maybe I'll occasionally talk here in the OOC, but otherwise I'll just try to keep up with the crazy pace of this RP and start thinking about an idea for a character.
@BBeast

Hmm. Name can be discussed in the interest check, I suppose.

For the map I had the idea to use an altered version of Cyprus. Maybe I will make the scale of the map larger for a bigger area, and throw in some of the old cities from Elysium. But anyways, I'd modify Cyprus by horizontally compressing it to be a big (long but narrow) valley with us starting on one end and this huge, rich valley with Amplus in the end. Between Amplus and us would be a lot more human settlements, as well as some of those minor nations. So in this way even the map would have clear progression: as we march foreards through the valley, it becomes less rural and the armies and cities we face get even bigger.

For the Keeper I was thinking of a powerful human warlock possessed by some sort of demon. Quick temper, evil, sadistic, extremely powerful magic, yet with a body fragile to the point that he has to send all his minions to do his fighting for him. As in for grandiose speeches, maybe he could just be one not much for words, but other than by summoning everyone to the dungeon heart for a nice sit down I'm not sure how he'd issue all the needed orders when he's ready for a new invasion.
