I'm EchoicChamber, though I mostly go by Echo.
I'm in my twenties, and returned here on a whim.
I have no idea what's happening at any given moment.

On two city walls, many miles apart, two recruitment posters have been put up.

One, the first, is printed on glossy paper, a black chess-piece, the of a king, into the bottom. It it set on a wall of rustic brick, similar in many ways to the defensive town walls of old Europe:

Do you love your faction?
Do you love your King?
Do you want to be a hero?

Now is the time to join the proud Erubesco Military.
Become a proud Knight, a stoic Acolyte, a studious Alchemist.
Fight for freedom and individuality!

In Liberty, there is no art. No culture. People live only to work and die.
We of Erubesco refuse to debase ourselves thus. We refuse to be held back by the petty notions of small minds.
Trust in Our King and crusade for what is right.
Our decisions may be difficult ones. Sacrifices may have to be made in the name of the cause, but within each Erubescian beats the heart of a hero, and we will never, ever surrender!

Join the Knights, Join the Fight!

The second is set up on a noticeboard on a clean, grey wall in a well-kept square.
It is in greyscale and formatted for complete clarity:

Notification of Draft

Notification that all Liberty Citizens of fighting age not assigned to exempt career positions are required to aid in the war effort.All Citizens of our glorious faction must stand together against the degenerate menace of Erubesco. This debauched and decadent monstrosity will soon collapse under the weight of its own greed, and the world will be a place of unity, equality, and uniformity. This is a dream we all share.

Trust in the wisdom of The Council to lead us to victory.

Reminder to all Liberty Citizens: The penalty for draft evasion is immediate detention to re-infer Liberty ideals. All department members must report for their assigned duties.

Hundreds of miles away from the hustle of both cities is ash. Decimated buildings squat like apes among filth and rubble, with the occasional tree or patch of shrubbery giving a much-needed splash of color to the landscape. In one forgotten corner, a small group splits its meager findings of the day and hunkers down for shelter in an old supermarket. In another, a mercenary strangles his quarry, then kneels to search the body.

It's a lonesome, empty place. Survival is difficult, and living takes backbreaking work. But any place is better than under their noses.

Hello, hello, everyone, I'm Echo, coming to you with another potential RP. This plot in particular has a decent amount of history to it, having existed on other sites for a few years before I decided to move the concept over here. I first tried it out on the Free board when I was starting out, and, seeing how it's slowed down tremendously since then, I decided that it might be a good idea to try my luck here and see how people liked it. There's a fair amount of plot stuff connected to this RP, so if you have any questions or need to clear things out before I post the actual Roleplay, feel free to ask.

At any rate, Age of Gifted takes place in a large, bleak world, set after the complete genocide of non-powered humans, and taking place in the middle of a war between Erubesco and Liberty- two world powers that have been decking it out for eight years now. The setting offers something for just about anyone. Looking for some good old war preparation, corrupt authority, and inhumane experimentation? Want for your characters to explore a complete wasteland, fighting to survive in poor conditions? Bloody fighting? In-depth character exploration? This RP hopes to offer all of that and more.

Also, everyone has superpowers.

In short, Gifted hopes to offer...

- Detailed open world, with a wealth of possibilities and character opportunities.

- Rich lore, with opportunities to contribute your own as time passes.

- A friendly, open-minded GM (I hope).

What I ask of you...

- Reliability. Please don't join and then immediately leave without saying anything, putting the rest of the players in the dark. I understand that everyone has their own responsibilities, and I have no worries about players not posting constantly, but I would prefer players that stick around instead of disappearing. Vanishing players makes things very difficult to deal with.

- Maturity. Both in that you can handle dark themes of violence, death, and other grim, future dystopian stuff, and that you can deal with OOC issues calmly and politely.

- Creativity. There's room for all kinds of characters and plot. Be creative!

So if all this interests you, feel free to drop me a PM, or just post your interest/questions on here, and I'll get to them as soon as I can. :)
Hey, this message goes out to everyone, but how would y'all feel about skipping to nighttime? I think things have slowed down considerably, and skipping might free stuff up and allow things to move a bit more freely. There's also some plot based events that will happen during the night, so the main plot will get a chance to move as well. Does that sound alright to everyone?
@LorelleQuips Tatia's approved!

Erica wasn’t alone in her desire to catch up. The two had gone over half a decade without so much of a glimpse of each other, and it was hardly any day Dawn encountered someone from her childhood so suddenly. Nevertheless, orientation marched on, and she turned her attention from her fellow Trickster to listen in on what their professor had to say. The rules seemed fairly standard for most school systems- no sex, no drugs, no harassment- although the comment regarding weaponry caught Dawn’s attention specifically. The Memoli patriarch had pushed her into bringing a handgun to go along with her school luggage, “just in case”. Given the...nature of their family, it hadn’t been too surprising of a request, but it was very relieving to know that she wouldn’t be having to hold onto the thing illegally. She made a mental note to head up to check in before grabbing her keys, and, as the room resumed its earlier brightness, Dawn turned back to Erica with a smile.

“We really should.” She returned the kisses with her own, then gave a little wave. “I’ll, uh, catch you later, then. Good luck getting settled and, um, everything.” She doubted Erica would have much of a problem establishing herself at Marchand. The girl had always had a knack for people, after all. She’d do fine. Watching her off for a moment, Dawn glanced up at the board, scanning through until she caught sight of her name and room number.

She’d be rooming with one Dinah Fox. Dawn supposed that she should have been somewhat alarmed or bothered, but given the fact that her own family was nearly synonymous for “major crime lords”, it wasn’t really in her place to judge. Rolling her shoulders, Dawn grabbed her keys, and had just stepped in line for the luggage count when another, thickly accented voice piped up from behind her. Turning, Dawn immediately caught sight of a figure looping around her on what looked to be an ice surfboard. She got a better look at both board and rider as they halted in front of her, and she quickly perked up.

“Oh, Malik! It’s good to see you. You’re, um, going here, too?” It was a bit of a stupid question, in hindsight. After all, she doubted that he’d be hanging about inside a school for the atmosphere. But it came out nonetheless. Dawn’s nose wrinkled slightly as Malik brought up the idea of romance, and she returned his jab with one of her own.

“You, uh, might want to hold off on any ideas, there. Erica’s family.” She couldn’t blame him for not catching the link right off the bat. They were hardly twins, but the blood was there, nonetheless.

“But, um, anyway. How are you? It’s, uh, it’s been a while.”

@Dodi do 900@Mr Allen J
@Rage Lonethorn Mr Allen J did an excellent job of summarizing things there. c: I just wanted to add on that if it helps, you could have your character be one of the late arrivals (i.e., by being driven to the school by family, or even by riding on a late bus), so that way you don't feel pressured to have your character react to everything that's happened right off the bat or anything.
@Mr Allen J Mmmm. Dark by some standards, but not all. Might look into buying it eventually, if it works on my computer. :D

Also, pardon my pitifully short posts, haha. I didn't know what else to put without dragging things on, but I also didn't want to leave anyone hanging for too long, either.
Esperanza’s head cocked slightly, like a bird catching sight of something gleaming in the earth. “That is very strange, yes,” she said, frowning slightly. “Do you think that we should go ask the professors? I do not want you to be left out of having a new friend sharing a room with you.” To her, having a roommate was an integral part of the high school experience- just like the occasional student brawl, and prom, and parties that were forbidden, but happened anyway because the popular kids didn’t care what anyone thought. The idea that having a room wholly to yourself would be a good thing didn’t cross Esperanza’s mind whatsoever.

The key ring travelled in lazy circles around Percival’s finger, the metal clicking together on each slow rotation. It was an unpleasant sound, but the Pelacour didn’t seem to particularly mind the sound as he reclined in his chair. “Well, they won’t be all buddy-buddy anytime soon, that’s for sure. Can’t remember the last time they were in a room together and didn’t wind up trying to throttle each other. Good times.” He sighed almost wistfully, cracked his neck, and brushed some of his bangs out of his face- only for most of the mop to fall back into place not a second later.

“Anyway. Noah. What classes are you taking, anyway? You look kind of like a Runes guy to me. Just have that sort of look in your eye for it. I’m Defense, myself.” Percival seemed content to chatter away, talking like if he was on a timer instead of making idle chit-chat. It was a far cry from the soft, gentle pace the rest of his kin possessed, but it suited him well enough. Even if it made him somewhat difficult to understand at times.

Just another case of gaining some, losing some, really. In this case, comprehension for speed. A fair trade.

@Slendy
@Mr Allen J Just looked it up for a bit. Seems kind of dark, but also really cool, not gonna lie.
@Mr Allen J Ah, that makes a fair bit of sense. I feel like the Memolis have probably attended a few of the Jakanes performances, maybe donated some money so that way they can keep doing what they're doing. If the Jakanes are still performing in modern times, it wouldn't be too surprising if Dawn's parents took her to see a few shows to try to family bond when she was younger.

Also, out of curiosity, what's your avatar from? It looks really neat.
@Mr Allen J Mmmm, that could work Would the Jakanes believe the rumors of the Memolis still being prominent figures in the mage underworld, or would they ignore them?
