I'm EchoicChamber, though I mostly go by Echo.
I'm in my twenties, and returned here on a whim.
I have no idea what's happening at any given moment.

What had previously been a bewildering, but relatively sane scenario had swiftly descended into madness. What was once day was now night, a creature- a demon- had taken the place of a young boy, and several of her classmates were at each other’s throats, among others. Even from where she stood, Dawn could see a younger woman fly from the sky, sinking daggers into the chests of the innocent captives of the Prince. If nothing was done to stop this, it would only take a slight push for the meeting to become a bloodbath.

Where was the headmaster?

Acting on instinct, Dawn ushered Kuro behind her, her free hand planting itself firmly on the butt of her gun. Silver bullets. She didn’t plan to use them- not until there was no other choice, at least- but she felt better keeping it in her grasp. Safer. “We don’t have to kill it. Necessarily. We just have to confine it for now, I’d say.” Already, she could see several students working to fight both the creature Kuro had called “Heartless”, as well as the demon- most by themselves. It would be hard to see if their efforts would be enough until they face retaliation, but regardless, there was still much to be addressed.

The detective breathed deeply. Her eyes became unfocused, staring into nowhere at all. Magic flowing through her veins, Dawn sent her power to the woman who had so ruthlessly attacked the slaves, and was now clawing at the Prince himself. Alex, her name was. She felt it now as acutely as it was her own. She took another breath, then buried herself in the fold of Alex’s thoughts, keeping her presence as hidden as possible.

”Tired.” That was the thought Dawn planted in the girl’s mind. She was so very, very tired, wasn’t she? It was such a nice day. There was little light now, but the warmth of the morning still lingered. There was no point in fighting, not now. Just walk away, and take a nap somewhere else. You’ve earned one.

The whisper of ideas, of course, where not Alex’s own. However, they would likely feel like it. The blood-wielder would likely begin to feel just as tired as the kitsune suggested, just as apathetic towards the battle. It was in her hands if she would go along with persuasion, or attempt to resist.

Of course, that only took care of half the problem. Even if Alex chose to step out of the fight, the Prince still posed a problem. Dawn prepared herself to swap to the man’s mindscape if necessary, fingers digging into the cold steel of her pistol.

I'm not sure what to have Dawn and Esp do, haha. It seems like everything has been taken care of when it comes to Shade and Rika and Ali getting pounced on, and I don't wanna step on any toes.
@The One S'all good. I'll take that as a sign that I need to make my characters more memorable, haha.
@The One Hey, One, is Kuro not reacting to Dawn this round? It's fine if he isn't, but I just wanted to know so I can have Dawn react appropriately. c:
Luckily, the girl didn’t seem to be bothered by Esperanza’s sudden charge- in fact, she even seemed interested in Chu. Esp blinked again for a moment, surprised by her friendliness, before beaming happily and quickly grabbing her pet away from her shoulders (along with a fair bit of flesh and blood, Chu had a tendency to sink his claws in deep when he was startled) and into her arms. “Yes,” she chirped. “His name is the Chupacabra, but I call him Chu because it is shorter that way. My sister says that he is very ugly, but he is my friend and very good.” As if for emphasis, Esperanza gave the thing a little scratch behind its...ears? It seemed to please Chu regardless, if its gurgles and grinding of teeth was any indication.

Esperanza’s words were awkward, choppy at best. They were heavy with her accent, but regardless, they were genuine as she blurted out “I like your rats. They look soft.”

Much to her surprise, she and the masked girl weren’t alone for long. Before she knew it, a strange, shadowy weasel-cat-skull had popped out of the ground, introducing itself as “Shade”. Esperanza took an instinctive step back at the sudden movement before kneeling down, giving the Heartless a curious look.

“Hello there, Shade. You are a very cute shadow cat.”

If it wasn’t clear enough by the unidentifiable abomination cradled in her arms, Esperanza didn’t seem to have the most normal standards for what qualified as “cute” or not. She rose to her feet, but in the same movement Chu had sprung from her grasp, landing silently in front of Shade. All of his eyes focused upon the Heartless as he crept forward, drooling greyish ichor from his lips. Chu leaned forward, gave Shade a wary sniff, then proceeded to let out a wail alarmingly similar to a human infant.

“It is okay,” Esperanza murmured, idly scratching Chu’s back. Her tattoos were blatantly visible with the movement- rich ink that covered nearly every inch of her arm. She had just pulled away when yet another person approached, large, fluffy tails trailing behind her. Esperanza’s family had told her that she would be meeting some interesting people, but even still, she felt herself visibly gape at the sight in awe.

“You are all so- you are-” She licked her lips, struggling to think of the proper word. “You are cool! I did not know that people had the tails like animals!” Esperanza’s excitement blossomed further as an entire parade crashed into the clearing, blaring music and song and dancing about as if they hadn’t a care in the world. The man leading the whole procession seemed rather stuffy, but strangely enough, almost as soon as he had announced himself he- as well as his group- suddenly changed to become...shabby. Worn, like an old cloth.

Regardless, Esperanza was impressed. She fumbled in her pockets for a moment before yanking out a phone and aiming it at both the Prince and his People. “My sister wanted me to send her the videos,” she explained, before suddenly going stock still.

She had forgotten to introduce herself.

That was the most important thing.

Turning abruptly on her heel, Esperanza thrust a hand towards her company, eyes wide and alarmed. “My name is Esperanza,” she stammered. “I am sorry for not saying so before. It is very nice to meet you all, and I hope that we become friends.” She gave a shy grin, before reaching down and plucking a shrieking Chu into her arms. Poor thing had gotten scared at all the commotion.

The man was a quick thinker, Dawn couldn’t deny that. His explanations for his “brother’s” lies were reasonable enough, and he seemed genuinely protective over the child, for all it was worth. The flattery was a nice touch, although Dawn had run into her fair share of men and women alike who had tried to butter their way out of a pitch that the effect was lost on her. She smiled regardless, eyes glittering like stones in her hat’s shadow.

“It’s a habit that he’ll likely need help breaking out of, then. I’ve found that the more someone lies, the better they get at it. He might end up digging himself into a hole he won’t be able to get out of so easily one day.” She let the man take the young pickpocket without comment, but made no move to leave. Dawn had no intention of returning to her table until the urchin was relieved of his stolen goods.

“Well, your client is certainly a kind man. And I’m sorry for your loss.”

A pause.

“Take care of him. It’s a hard life for children down here.”

Even if the man wasn’t the boy’s brother, it would be good for the little one to get something to eat, at the very least. While the stranger’s lies were well thought out for how swiftly he had come up with them, the child’s skinniness was particularly noticeable in the face of his study build, among other things. However, at the sound of a sudden crash, Dawn found herself turning away from the man- right towards the table he had been gesturing at, where a woman now lay, smiling dreamily at the ceiling as if she wasn’t currently surrounded by shattered dinnerware.

Spiced wine gurgled onto the floor.

Whatever “fresh, warm meal” had been awaiting them, it had quite unfortunately been cut short.

The red-headed woman’s sudden appearance wasn’t overly surprising. When one had spent their life in the Neath, seeing random passerby pop in and out of honey dreams was as commonplace as the passerby themselves. However, most dreamers didn’t reappear on anything that wasn’t a flat surface- and certainly not in a manner to make such a loud clamor. It was bizarre, to say the least, and it left a large possibility of the woman being injured without even realizing yet. Giving a glance towards man and child alike to indicate that they weren’t in the clear, Dawn made her way over to the table, giving an apologetic look to its current occupant before turning her attention to the lady sitting among the wreckage.

“Are you alright, madam?” She asked. “That was quite the entrance you had, there.”

“I’ll admit to hearing it in passing, yes,” Madison replied. Some of the cheer had gone out of him now, replaced by a certain sobriety that didn’t seem to quite fit the man. The woman was holding all her cards close to her chest, but whatever what was on them, there was little chance of it being anything good. Even her name seemed to be a topic that she had no desire to breach- or, even more concerning, something that she possibly couldn’t. Regardless, Madison found himself straining to read the woman’s expression behind those irrigo shades, even as he felt the faintest hazing of his memory as he gazed into them.

“I’m sure that having a stranger try and offer you assistance out of the blue must be incredibly suspicious, miss, so I don’t blame you for not wanting to take it. Especially what with the Oblivion you have there.” Madison gestured absently at the bottle, then rested his hands in their former position onto the table. “And whatever it is that you’re trying to find out North, I do hope that you find it.” He tapped his nails on the table beneath, drumming out an irregular rhythm.

“However, would it be alright if I bought you something to eat, before you leave? Coffee, maybe? I’d feel terrible letting you leave without doing anything to help you out, although I suppose that’s a bit selfish of me.” Madison gave the woman a sheepish smile, before casting a glance over his shoulder at the sharp clattering behind him.

A woman. Honey-dreamer, if the sudden appearance was any indication. Although most didn’t appear so violently.

“Odd,” he murmured.

@VitoftheVoid
Seems fair enough, tbh
@CollectorOfMyst Should I be concerned that your character sheet will try to murder me? :P
@knifeman Momo is precious, not gonna lie.
@CollectorOfMyst Oh, that's true. I don't want to put pressure on you or anything on that front, though, haha. College can be rough as hell.
