Twelve years ago, I said something on this website that continues to embarrassing me to this day. I was a stupid kid, like most, but I've never quite gotten the taste out of my mouth. Anyone who knew me at the time can tell you about it.
I love this website. I'm pretty sure my phylactery is stored wherever the webserver is and a significant chunk of me will just disappear when it ceases operation. Until then, it comforts me. I should go to the hardware store and paint my bedroom walls with the same soft, brownish grey that the background color has been for the last twelve years. Some of my friends can't wait for the site to go offline but I don't know of any other places that offer the same sense of community.
I'm an omni-gamer. I like board games, tabletop roleplaying games, admire tabletop war games, suck at riddles, and have an absurd library of video games. Survival horror is basically my favorite genre. Otherwise I'm a fan of esoteric, occult bullshit and punk rock. But disco's cool. Disco is what humanity sounds like when it chooses to be happy. Between you and I, I'd like to hope that the days of my life can sparkle like a disco ball, accreting like sparks from a grinder held up against the unwavering dark of deaths own shadow. Burn baby burn.
You and I, we're gonna die. We should be friends first, though. Write some checks we can't cash and make eachother smile. Make believe for a while.
@Nightrunner I feel the same way! A very cool character, and an interesting one for DC to move away from, because personality wise, he is quite different from their other heroes. Also, thanks again for letting me know about this.

@Grayghost Ted Kord is sorely neglected by the fan community. In all honesty, I've considered using Daniel Garret. I love Blue Beetle, his part in Infinite Crisis was downright beautiful.
@Byrd Man This wouldn't be the first time I compare Byrd to a role playing father figure and call him old in public. He GMd the first game I ever played in, checked all my early games I wanted to make, and helped me in general. I've only recently really split from him in the last few months, more by circumstance than conscious choice, though.
Master Bruce of the Superherohype and Oldguild. Best. Writer. Ever. He showed me how to tell a good story, gave me his blessing, and let me butcher every work of art he ever made. The guy fleshed out his concepts beautifully, wrote like every line was a poem, and energized me in my early days, too. I still hang onto concepts for a Batman/Daredevil crossover we never got around to doing.
@Gowi Gowi learns from his mistakes. He used to be kinda strict, but now it's loosened up. We've generally worked closely, though not necessarily together. While Master Bruce taught me brilliant burnouts, Gowi taught me dedication. He's thoughtful to his games, and has a sickeningly plotted Batman story to tell. We have gotten into little spats and stood on opposing opinions, but I think our differences have helped me grow a lot.
@Lord Wraith What can I say, he's a caring guy and a real friend, even though I've never met him. He, like Gowi, is very detail oriented, but somehow manages to play looser. He's got a meticulously crafted original superhero universe (Vigilance) that he's expanded into a sort of brand by putting it across multiple sites, in cities that are apart in players, plot, and events, but linked in world history and universal fact. I've heard about him linking up crossovers and whatnot. It's really impressive.
My fifth, tbh I can't choose. Maybe @AndyC for his strong concepts I've looked to with envy? @HenryJonesJr for setting up games I've played in for most of my tenure as a player. @Hillan for opening my horizons a bit. Or my sidekick from the oldguild, @Archangel89. Maybe @DeathstrokeSW, he definitely affected how I look at the games. Perhaps @Bounce, even.

| Origin & Backstory | 1970-1980: Sins of The Father
Jack Murdock had been an adventurous teenaged hoodlum who grew up in Hell's Kitchen. Through intensive study and intensive fundraising as a boxer, he paid his way through law school before becoming a prosecuting attorney. After prosecuting against a man he knew was innocent, he began to attend church regularly, specifically frequenting the Clinton Mission Center and paying attention to one nun in particular. A hectic turn of events and the burdens they both faced drove them into each other's arms. Shortly afterward, Matt Murdock was conceived. A blind eye was turned to the nun's pregnancy, even to the act of giving birth. But she ultimately left her son's care to Jack.
Not one to shrug off his responsibilities, he raised his son, swearing he'd do so to the best of his ability. Early in the days of Matt's upbringing, though, a small crew of fame-seeking kids declared war on another gang, specifically to move in on their territory and take over Hell's Kitchen, sparking a trend of chaos that rivaled the LA gang wars. As a result Jack was constantly inquired of by scoundrels. Dreaming of a better life for Matt, he accepted bribes and caused several innocent men to spend years in prison because they couldn't pay the criminals that laid siege to the neighborhood.
1980-1993: Purgatory
Jack actually had no reason to stay in Hell's Kitchen. The neighborhood was dangerous, poor, crime-ridden, filled with sorrow, and riddled with the scars of countless gang wars and crime. Jack subscribed to the belief that what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. Being mortal anyway, he could justify the way that their neighborhood would strengthen his son. Plus, it was Jack's home, more so than any place in Queens could ever be. The entire time Matt had been alive, Jack told him that he needed to study hard to be successful and avoid ever being a fighter, to go to college and be a lawyer, although his social status would suffer massively because of this. Matt was intensely teased, called a 'Daredevil' in an irony filled emotional gut punch.
Meanwhile, Jack had fully changed his ways, to his own detriment. Instead of prosecuting anyone who'd be profitable through bribes, he targeted the dirtiest sinners he could find. He'd been at least partially responsible for the sentencing of nearly three dozen hit men, drug traffickers, shot callers, and money launderers.
1994-1997: Break my Bones
February 1994 was the month that Matt Murdock's life began to change. Having spotted a man crossing the street in front of a semi truck en route to a government facility, the fourteen year old tackled the old man out of harm's way, startling the driver. Swerving dynamically, the truck dodged the pedestrians, but it spilled a load of chemicals designed to emulate the original Captain America's stamina. Matt was soaked by the mixture, ingesting some of it through his eyes, ears, mouth, and nose. His body went into shock as a result of the entire scenario, and he was taken to the St. Vincent Hospital. While hospitalized, he was visited by the old man he'd protected, a blind ninja named Stick. Sensing something special within the boy, he decided to train him in the way of the ninja.
Beginning March 1994, upon Matt's release, Stick properly introduced himself before discreetly paying him regular visits, helping him to learn to walk again, to see beyond what could normally be seen, to dial the sensitivity of his ears to a point where it was normal. The first month of training was basic, though completely necessary.
Come May, Jack had been prosecuting a hit man who was involved in the war between the Kingpin Syndicate and the Foot Clan. The defendant had been targeted by The Foot, but behind bars their revenge would be more difficult. Because he'd targeted many of Fisk's other men, without knowing himself, he was assassinated by a shuriken toss through his throat when he stepped through the doors of the courthouse.
Matt saw his dad die on live television. Stick, recognizing the Foot's involvement, immediately took Matt away from the city to begin intense training. Taken to a dark cave, Matt went blind in a period of weeks, sustained by Stick, who taught him to use his other senses, more useful ones. He learned to sniff like a bloodhound, echolocate like a bat, run like a leopard, pounce like a cat, and fight like a demon.
In June, he was returned to his home. But Stick managed to have a false identity created, Mike Murdock. 'Mike' was the name of Matt's nonexistent older brother. He returned to school, picked on for roughly five minutes before fighting back and scaring his classmates to death. With unprecedented speed in developing skills, Matt managed to defeat Stick in unarmed combat in 1996. Then, he was taught to use a variety of weaponry, swords, staves, boomerangs, shurikens, escrima sticks, clubs, claws, bows, and even a gun, though his ears sensitivity limited his use for them. When Stick had decided he had nothing left to teach, he disappeared, never to be seen again.
1998-2003: Sage Counsel
On his eighteenth birthday, Matt received his inheritance, heading off to Columbia University. There, he met Foggy Nelson, Anthony Quinn, and Elektra Natchios. Without a doubt, Matt had been the top of his class. He led a romantic relationship with Elektra, developing powerful feelings for her that led him to do ridiculous things: starting bar fights, driving cars off cliffs, partying, and breaking and entering into her father's heavily guarded mansion to visit her and prank the guards. Before long, he'd grown uninterested in Law School and felt being a lawyer was pointless. So in 2001, he dropped out, losing touch with Elektra when she left the country with her father.
He lived off of his inheritance for a long while, heading to Fogwell's regularly, he ended up becoming good friends with a teenaged girl named Mickey, who hung out outside the gym. Every day they'd have brief chit chats, shooting the breeze and the like. But one day she went missing. Then again. And again. Out of worry for her, Matt tracked her house down by tracing her blend of perfumes, laundry detergent, and shampoos. She had evidently ran away or been abducted. Unwilling to accept her disappearance, Matt began to shake down local crooks and pay for leads. Before long, he'd been directed to a man who was known only as The Question, who'd likely have useful information. He did. In a matter of days, Matt contacted him before finding a storehouse of teenaged girls hidden in an illegal brothel. Wearing a mask, Matt broke in, rescued the girls, and overpowered the thugs.
Days later, The Question woke Matt in his sleep before offering him a sum of cash in exchange for investigating crimes around Hell's Kitchen. Matt accepted the investigations, rejecting the money offer. After several subsequent successes The Question revealed himself to be Victor Sage, a private investigator, and offered Matt a partnership at his firm. Accepting, Matt saw that the name was changed to Sage & Murdock.
Towards the end of 2003, Matt had a chance meeting with Foggy Nelson, in which he fended off a crew of deadbeats robbers. Foggy gave him a business card, stating that he owed Matt a favor before departing. They kept in close contact, developing a true friendship.
2004-2010: Guardian Devil
When Sage informed Murdock that it might be beneficial for him to fabricate an alias of his own, he did so. He'd initially wanted to be called The Jersey Devil, to build onto an existing urban legend, but later decided to go with Daredevil, to demonstrate he would be completely fearless. He'd initially wore a black skintight cloth uniform with a black mask over the top of his face, decorated with interlocking Ds centered on the chest. An enforcer and general puppet for organized crime by the name of The Gladiator made a ruckus in Hell's Kitchen, causing massive property damage while causing minimal injuries. Daredevil outfought him before discovering that he was being blackmailed into his life of crime, and while he never stopped, he actually expressed appreciation for DD's intervention, doing him a favor by preparing him a scarlet outfit because, conveniently, he was a tailor by profession. A closely timed adventure saw him foil the ridiculous Stilt-Man, a burglar who made use of hydraulic stilts that enabled him to escape the confines of his anatomy and common sense.
The first powered supervillain Daredevil ever tackled was an electrokinetic soldier of fortune named Voltaic. Meeting by chance, they did battle inside Javits Convention Center, during the reveal for a next-generation power supply for the city. The project was destroyed, and a plethora of bystanders were harmed due to Daredevil's inexperience and clumsiness. Voltaic was defeated when Daredevil shot him with a pistol after playing possum. SHIELD made the arrest. Because of the collateral damage, Daredevil decided to act with a lower profile.
From 2004 to 2006, he was less than a nuisance to large scale crime operations. His effects were invisible. But in 2006, Sage & Murdock began to close in on larger crime organizations, investigating Leland Owlsley. Daredevil went to war on Owlsley, The Owl as he was nicknamed for a then unknown reason. But when Owlsley began distributing designer drugs with bestial side effects, Daredevil shut him down, raiding his supply, and damming his revenue stream before anonymously donating evidence against him to the FBI, resulting in an arrest. His apprehension was problematic, because no one had been prepared for The Owl to literally take flight by his own power and raze the officers involved with talons. Fortunately Daredevil pursued him and trapped him inside a water tower.
In 2007, Sage & Murdock hired Karen Page, a fetching blonde, as their receptionist. Later in the year, Daredevil had been prowling the neighborhood before hearing cries of a fire. Spurred to action, Daredevil saved all the civilians before finding the arsonist still on site, a pyrokinetic named Chato Santana, also known as El Diablo, before successfully defeating him, partially by intimidating him with his devilish form and tricking the arsonist into believing he was a supernatural judge. Once again, SHIELD made the arrest. Matt found comfort in the fact that he handled the challenge far better than the Voltaic attack years before.
In 2008, Sage & Murdock began to investigate a series of spontaneous assaults by people with no motive. As they got closer, Victor Sage was assaulted by Karen Page in his own office. No harm was received, but Karen was arrested. After Foggy attacked Matt, with a similar result, they worked doubly hard on the case, finding that they'd all been manipulated by The Purple Man, a criminal capable of hypnotism. Because of Matt's blindness, he was uncontrollable, and he trapped the mastermind in a crate before depositing him in a police precinct. This year, Foggy and Anthony Quinn graduated from Law School, cofounding Nelson & Quinn Law Firm.
In 2009, it was decided by the Kingpin that Daredevil was causing too much change, so he sent Typhoid Mary after him. As simple as the assassination could've been, one of her multiple personalities developed a crush on the vigilante. Her mental instability allowed Daredevil to escape before capturing her and having her arrested. To follow up, Kingpin utilized Bullseye, only to have him fall by Daredevil's hand as well.
At the beginning of 2010, The Kingpin saw a compromise as the prime option, The Kingpin arranged for Anthony Quinn to mediate between himself and the vigilante, which Daredevil rejected before punching Quinn in the face. Living up to his moniker, Daredevil boldly positioned himself as an enemy of The Kingpin Syndicate.

Gear: His cane splits into a pair of billy clubs, one includes an airsoft grappling line that fires one of the clubs into the distance. It can be used to increase mobility or in a combat situation.
Powers: His senses all operate on a superhuman level, barring his completely absent sense of sight. He is generally more able to balance and is all around more sensitive than a regular human, as well as being gifted with peak human stamina and conditioning by the chemical incident in 1994
Skills: He navigates using a radar-sense, processing echoes in a way that paints a colorless picture for him. His sense of smell can be put to use in tracking. He is also trained with a variety of weaponry and an expert in hand to hand combat. His gymnastic ability is trained to a point little improvement can be made, and his reflexes are ridiculously fast. Last, but not least, he has an explorative and powerful mind and deductive ability made better by meticulous studying and higher education.

Clinton Mission Shelter: A church run by Sister Maggie, generally visited by law abiding citizens, the poor, and devout Catholics. But, a few snakes certainly find their place in its walls. It acts as free housing and soup kitchen for a portion of the homeless community.
Fogwell's Gym: A long closed gym that Matt frequents despite it being locked up and condemned. It's roof is damaged with several wooden boards covering a broken skyfacing window.
Javits Convention Center: A large building that facilitates LARPing, concerts, and gatherings of all sorts. It has four floors and two glass walls, eastward and westward, that meet at a point. Additionally, there is a large yard that is mostly covered in cement, with paths for biking, and a picnic area.
Nelson and Quinn: A modest building from which Foggy Nelson, Tony Quinn, and Becky Blake work. It is more affordable than most other law firms, though they make a large amount of money from a largely unknown (except to Quinn) and undocumented source.
Paradiso Dance Club: A strip club frequented by low-lifes. Out of their desperation, many of it's dancers are hired underage. Without being advertised, it has a hidden brothel available to certain criminal clientele. This was raided by Matt in his rescue of Mickey before he became Daredevil.
St. Vincent Hospital: A hospital full of hardworking and underpaid medical experts, many volunteers, and alternative treatment advocates. It has a helipad with no helicopter, but is located near a train and bus stop. For much of the staff's work, they are not compensated. It hinges on bankruptcy because of its generosity to the community.
Sticks Billiards: A pool hall frequented by various gang members and general lowlifes. In total it has eight tables, a bar, skyward windows, and a VIP room upstairs, formerly the office of The Purple Man.
Anthony Quinn | Defense Attorney | Antagonist A crooked lawyer who's defended criminals in the name of financial benefit. He never meant to defend bad guys as much as he was simply seduced by the massive profitability. He doesn't like to get his hands dirty, so he sticks to white collar work, partnered with the comparatively innocent Foggy Nelson.
Bullseye | Assassin | Antagonist His name is Lester and he never misses anything he throws, unless they cheat. He's verifiably insane and obsessive over the fact that Daredevil made him miss. To this day he roams free because he escaped arrest.
Copperhead | Vigilante | Rival (To be Introduced)

Devil Ray | Teen Hero | Fan (Yet to be properly introduced. But he's an Atlantean Ray Connor, taking the identity of the JLU villain)

Elektra Natchios | Ninja | Antagonist, Love Interest The daughter of an esteemed lawyer who was spoiled from her early youth. Ravishing beauty and massive wealth made her desirable, but her status as one of the few Adepts of the generation makes her a treasure. In college, she had a whirlwind love affair with Matt Murdock, who she felt inexplicably drawn to. Leaving the country, she came in contact with the Hand Clan before joining them.
Foggy Nelson | Defense Attorney | Friend Franklin Nelson was a law student from New York City who had been bullied from Elementary on, and when none of his classmates stood up for him, he decided to become a lawyer. He met Matt Murdock in college, and that acquaintanceship may have saved his life. Years later, he opened a firm partnered with Tony Quinn, still friends with Matt.
Gladiator | Tailor | Reluctant Antagonist Melvin Potter was a tailor, pressured to be a machinist by his father, who lived out his dream of crafting clothing for cosplayers all over New York. Financial hardship led to him coming to blows with Daredevil on numerous occasions, because of blackmail threatening to harm his daughter.

Jester | Criminal | Antagonist Nowhere as famous as Gotham City's Joker, the Jester is a more agile and physically advanced variety of clown criminal.
Karen Page | Secretary | Love Interest The secretary for Sage & Murdock, once arrested and charged with attempted murder. The charges were dropped after it was revealed that she was manipulated by The Pyrple Man. A true blonde, she doesn't realize that either of her employers are vigilantes despite the fact they regularly investigate supervillains.. or does she? Matt often wonders.

The Owl | Crime Lord | Antagonist Leland Owlsley was born a mutant with an appropriate name. He grew up wealthy, but wanted to be wealthier. Initially using his physical obscurities, flight and talons, he gained enough status to call the shots under The Kingpin's rule. But he was eventually caught by Daredevil, like his replacement, The Purple Man.
The Purple Man | Crime Lord | Antagonist Jebediah Killgrave was a spy who was exposed to a chemical mixture that turned him purple and gave him the ability to command people through visual cues. He eventually worked his way to being one of The Kingpin's 'Generals' before being incarcerated.
The Question | PI | Partner Victor Sage is an expert investigative vigilante with significant informational resources and an unexpected fighting ability. How did he get that way? That is The Question®.
Typhoid Mary | Actress/Hitwoman | Antagonist/Love Interest Mary Walker had been a Grammy Award winning actress and closet mutant with psionic, telekinetic, and pyrokinetic powers, but after a traumatic experience in New York's streets, she killed a man before developing a sort of Dissociative Personality Disorder that resulted in blackouts where her consciousness manifested as four different women total. Two of which were assassins, one was a pacifist, and the fourth was the actress she'd always been. Daredevil accidentally knocked her out of a window before trying to save her, which caused the pacifistic personality to develop a crush on him, hindering an attempt on his life. Only her pacifistic side is aware of his secret identity.
Voltaic | Mercenary | Antagonist He was designed to be the ultimate weapon, capable of manipulating electrons. In order to build himself a name and great wealth, he sold his power to the highest bidder. Eventually employs for a terror attack, he was defeated by a completely unknown vigilante, Daredevil (Substitute for 616 Electro, taken from New52 Suicide Squad).

Having fun is my number one goal. Daredevil and his life are vehicles for this. I've written an intense Daredevil before, a ninja-centric app, a supernatural app,and a thousand spins on him. But being a detective just seems to better fit the character. DD hunts for justice, but lawyers don't do as much pursuing as they do arguing. Accordingly, I've tweaked his history to accommodate this. Plus, a lawyer can only have so much free time.
Changes have been made in response to universal events and other characters involved, or where I feel the story works better. My posts are going to deal with characters and life events, with a bit of slice of life thrown in. Anthony Quinn, pulp antihero The Black Bat is also set to be a special guest, with no other Indies (no promises, but he's my only planned Indie), and Ray Connor, who I'vetried to shoehorn into my DD saga, but I have a different story for him this time, you can probably figure it out if you try, but I want to capture the fast-paced high-flying spirit of classic Daredevil mixed with the emotional drama of Bendis' run, touched by Waid's optimistic streak. Things may be familiar, but not the same as what's already been written. Put simply, I want to scribe a very personal piece. As long as this run goes, my posts will be longer and more meaning than what I've written before. I want to take the Scarlet Swashbuckler to places he's never been.
If anyone is interested in having The Question, I welcome them to him. For the most part, he won't be doing the same thing as Daredevil. And it wouldn't be a bad thing if he went off in his own direction. But I'll use him as long as I have him. The same goes for my rogues.

[Daredevil:_The_Man_Without_Fear]
It's ten o'clock PM. I can't read a watch, but I can feel the warmth of the sun gradually laying down on my suit's fibers and the stench of the garbage man rolling by like he does every Tuesday. I can feel the bottoms of my shoes begin to peel off the sidewalk as the heat glues them down. Nearing the office, I can hear the sound of construction workers goofing off, like they do everyday as soon as their supervisor steps away to take a smoke break. People might not be trustworthy in New York City, but you can have faith in them to maintain their own habits like clockwork.
Sliding through a steady stream of people, I cut to the left side of the sidewalk, brushing the edge of a stair with my cane before smoothly stepping through the door of Nelson & Quinn.
"Hello, Mr. Murdock. Mr. Nelson's in his office at the moment, can I leave a message?" the slightest hint of rubber pressing on tile, squeaking a bit, told me exactly who I was talking to. The paraplegic paralegal herself, Rebecca Blake, had leaned towards me in her wheelchair.
"Thank you, Becky, but I'd just like to see him personally, if at all possible." Even as I spoke, I knew something was off. Every time I've come to this office, the smell of Swiss Rolls and Nutty Bars have lingered from Foggy's late nights of paperwork. But not today. Today all I can pick up on is cologne and mints, probably from excessive volumes of tooth paste. "I see Foggy has a date tonight," I cracked a smile, picturing him choking her out with inverted hygiene.
But Becky just looked at me, I'd assume with an eyebrow raised.
"We're actually going to meet a client tonight. Not a date, but Foggy probably is going to treat it like one."
"Who's the lucky girl?" I asked, with advice for Foggy in mind.
"Gail. Simone." It all made sense, he wanted to be written into a comic book as some kind of swashbuckling attorney who assaulted the criminals he was too incompetent to prosecute. Then, he could never die. Every day he'd be able to brag about how famous he'd be. And I'd be there.. listening.. forever.. I have to sabotage his chances.
"What's the case even about?" I asked.
"I can't tell you, confidentiality and all."
"I see, well I guess-" interrupted by the crash of a zealous litigator escaping his fresh-scented prison, I awaited the arrival of Franklin Nelson. But he brought company, Quinn. "Eeek, quite a shiner there, Tony! I squealed, referring to the black eye I'd Daredevil had given him for pushing The Kingpin's agenda on me. He just huffed, dejected by the comment.
"Hey Mattie, what's up?" he asked, evidently overlooking my snark.
"Just helping people track down their dogs and remember where they went after Happy Hour."Assassins, moral pathogens marauding as lawyers, and Karen Page, the best reason to ever walk into an office, all crossed my mind.
"We get to protect Gail Simone from the worst crime ever, copyright infringement," Quinn said, expressing a far different philosophy towards confidentiality than Becky. The steady beating of his heart confirmed his story.
"Great, good luck with that," I generically said before turning tail out of the office, saying my goodbyes and stepping back into the swarm of people that make up the NYC.
Still needs a sample and fleshed out notes, it can't touch the Bat or Supes, but it's something. I'll pretty it up later. Whataya peeps think? Point out any problems if you spot them ASAP.

| Origin & Backstory | 1970-1980 Jack Murdock had been an adventurous teenaged hoodlum who grew up in Hell's Kitchen. Through intensive study and intensive fundraising as a boxer, he paid his way through law school before becoming a prosecuting attorney. After prosecuting against a man he knew was innocent, he began to attend church regularly, specifically frequenting the Clinton Mission Center and paying attention to one nun in particular. A hectic turn of events and the burdens they both faced drove them into each other's arms. Shortly afterward, Matt Murdock was conceived. A blind eye was turned to the nun's pregnancy, even to the act of giving birth. But she ultimately left her son's care to Jack.
1980-1993 Jack actually had no reason to stay in Hell's Kitchen. The neighborhood was dangerous, poor, crime-ridden, filled with sorrow, and riddled with the scars of countless gang wars and crime. But it was Jack's home, more so than any place in Queens could ever be. The entire time Matt had been alive, Jack told him that he needed to study hard to be successful and avoid ever being a fighter, to go to college and be a lawyer, although his social status would suffer massively because of this.
He'd fully changed his ways, to his own detriment. Instead of prosecuting anyone who'd be high profile, he targeted the dirtiest sinners he could find. He'd been at least partially responsible for the sentencing of nearly three dozen hit men, drug traffickers, shot callers, and money launderers.
1994-1997 February 1994 was the month that Matt Murdock's life began to change. Having spotted a man crossing the street in front of a semi truck en route to a government facility, the fourteen year old tackled the old man out of harm's way, startling the driver. Swerving dynamically, the truck dodged the pedestrians, but it spilled a load of chemicals designed to emulate the original Captain America's stamina. Matt was soaked by the mixture, ingesting some of it through his eyes, ears, mouth, and nose. His body went into shock as a result of the entire scenario, and he was taken to the St. Vincent Hospital. While hospitalized, he was visited by the old man he'd protected, a blind ninja named Stick. Sensing something special within the boy, he decided to train him in the way of the ninja.
Beginning March 1994, upon Matt's release, Stick properly introduced himself before discreetly paying him regular visits, helping him to learn to walk again, to see beyond what could normally be seen, to dial the sensitivity of his ears to a point where it was normal. The first month of training was basic, though completely necessary.
Come May, Jack had been prosecuting a hit man who was involved in the war between the Kingpin Syndicate and the Foot Clan. The defendant had been targeted by The Foot, but behind bars their revenge would be more difficult. Because he'd targeted many of Fisk's other men, without knowing himself, he was assassinated by a shuriken toss through his throat when he stepped through the doors of the courthouse.
Matt saw his dad die on live television. Stick, recognizing the Foot's involvement, immediately took Matt away from the city to begin intense training. Taken to a dark cave, Matt went blind in a period of weeks, sustained by Stick, who taught him to use his other senses, more useful ones. He learned to sniff like a bloodhound, echolocate like a bat, run like a leopard, pounce like a cat, and fight like a demon.
In June, he was returned to his home. But Stick managed to have a false identity created, Mike Murdock. 'Mike' was the name of Matt's nonexistent older brother. He returned to school, picked on for roughly five minutes before fighting back and scaring his classmates to death. With unprecedented speed in developing skills, Matt managed to defeat Stick in unarmed combat in 1996. Then, he was taught to use a variety of weaponry, swords, staves, boomerangs, shurikens, escrima sticks, clubs, claws, bows, and even a gun, though his ears sensitivity limited his use for them. When Stick had decided he had nothing left to teach, he disappeared, never to be seen again.
1998-2003 On his eighteenth birthday, Matt received his inheritance, heading off to Law School. There, he met Foggy Nelson, Anthony Quinn, and Elektra Natchios. Without a doubt, Matt had been the top of his class. He led a romantic relationship with Elektra, developing powerful feelings for her that led him to do ridiculous things: starting bar fights, driving cars off cliffs, partying, and breaking and entering into her father's heavily guarded mansion to visit her and prank the guards. Before long, he'd grown uninterested in Law School and felt being a lawyer was pointless. So in 2001, he dropped out, losing touch with Elektra when she left the country with her father.
He lived off of his inheritance for a long while, heading to Fogwell's regularly, he ended up becoming good friends with a teenaged girl named Mickey, who hung out outside the gym. Every day they'd have brief chit chats, shooting the breeze and the like. But one day she went missing. Then again. And again. Out of worry for her, Matt tracked her house down by tracing her blend of perfumes, laundry detergent, and shampoos. She had evidently ran away or been abducted. Unwilling to accept her disappearance, Matt began to shake down local crooks and pay for leads. Before long, he'd been directed to a man who was known only as The Question, who'd likely have useful information. He did. In a matter of days, Matt contacted him before finding a storehouse of teenaged girls hidden in an illegal brothel. Wearing a mask, Matt broke in, rescued the girls, and overpowered the thugs.
Days later, The Question woke Matt in his sleep before offering him a sum of cash in exchange for investigating crimes around Hell's Kitchen. Matt accepted the investigations, rejecting the money offer. After several subsequent successes The Question revealed himself to be Victor Sage, a private investigator, and offered Matt a partnership at his firm. Accepting, Matt saw that the name was changed to Sage & Murdock.
Towards the end of 2003, Matt had a chance meeting with Foggy Nelson, in which he fended off a crew of deadbeats robbers. Foggy gave him a business card, stating that he owed Matt a favor before departing. They kept in close contact, developing a true friendship.
2004-2010 When Sage informed Murdock that it might be beneficial for him to fabricate an alias of his own, he did so. He'd initially wanted to be called The Jersey Devil, to build onto an existing urban legend, but later decided to go with Daredevil, to demonstrate he would be completely fearless. By ordering costume pieces from various tailors around the city, he pieced a striking red leather outfit together with a scarlet sheen, horns, and trunks that hold to the outside of his outfit in the style of twentieth century and resurgent superheroes.
The first supervillain Daredevil ever tackled was an electrokinetic soldier of fortune named Voltaic. Meeting by chance, they did battle inside Javits Convention Center, during the reveal for a next-generation power supply for the city. The project was destroyed, and a plethora of bystanders were harmed due to Daredevil's inexperience and clumsiness. Voltaic was defeated when Daredevil shot him with a pistol after playing possum. SHIELD made the arrest. Because of the collateral damage, Daredevil decided to act with a lower profile.
From 2004 to 2006, he was less than a nuisance to large scale crime operations. His effects were invisible. But in 2006, Sage & Murdock began to close in on larger crime organizations, investigating Leland Owlsley. Daredevil went to war on Owlsley, The Owl as he was nicknamed for a then unknown reason. But when Owlsley began distributing designer drugs with bestial side effects, Daredevil shut him down, raiding his supply, and damming his revenue stream before anonymously donating evidence against him to the FBI, resulting in an arrest. His apprehension was problematic, because no one had been prepared for The Owl to literally take flight by his own power and raze the officers involved with talons. Fortunately Daredevil pursued him and trapped him inside a water tower.
In 2007, Sage & Murdock hired Karen Page, a fetching blonde, as their receptionist. Later in the year, Daredevil had been prowling the neighborhood before hearing cries of a fire. Spurred to action, Daredevil saved all the civilians before finding the arsonist still on site, a pyrokinetic named Chato Santana, also known as El Diablo, before successfully defeating him, partially by intimidating him with his devilish form and tricking the arsonist into believing he was a supernatural judge. Once again, SHIELD made the arrest. Matt found comfort in the fact that he handled the challenge far better than the Voltaic attack years before.
In 2008, Sage & Murdock began to investigate a series of spontaneous assaults by people with no motive. As they got closer, Victor Sage was assaulted by Karen Page in his own office. No harm was received, but Karen was arrested. After Foggy attacked Matt, with a similar result, they worked doubly hard on the case, finding that they'd all been manipulated by The Purple Man, a criminal capable of hypnotism. Because of Matt's blindness, he was uncontrollable, and he trapped the mastermind in a crate before depositing him in a police precinct.
In 2009, it was decided by the Kingpin that Daredevil was causing too much change, so he sent Typhoid Mary after him. As simple as the assassination could've been, because one of her multiple personalities developed a crush on the vigilante. Her mental instability allowed Daredevil to escape before capturing her and having her arrested. To follow up, Kingpin utilized Bullseye, only to have him fall by Daredevil's hand as well.
At the beginning of 2010, The Kingpin saw a compromise as the prime option, The Kingpin arranged for Anthony Quinn to mediate between himself and the vigilante, which Daredevil rejected before punching Quinn in the face. Living up to his moniker, Daredevil boldly positioned himself as an enemy of The Kingpin Syndicate.
| Attributes | Gear: His cane splits into a pair of billy clubs, one includes an airsoft grappling line that fires one of the clubs into the distance. It can be used to increase mobility or in a combat situation.
Powers: His senses all operate on a superhuman level, barring his completely absent sense of sight. He is generally more able to balance and is all around more sensitive than a regular human, as well as being gifted with peak human stamina and conditioning by the chemical incident in 1994
Skills: He navigates using a radar-sense, processing echoes in a way that paints a colorless picture for him. His sense of smell can be put to use in tracking. He is also trained with a variety of weaponry and an expert in hand to hand combat. His gymnastic ability is trained to a point little improvement can be made, and his reflexes are ridiculously fast. Last, but not least, he has an explorative and powerful mind and deductive ability

Clinton Mission Shelter: A church run by Sister Maggie, generally visited by law abiding citizens, the poor, and devout Catholics. But, a few snakes certainly find their place in its walls. It acts as free housing and soup kitchen for a portion of the homeless community.
Fogwell's Gym: A long closed gym that Matt frequents despite it being locked up and condemned. It's roof is damaged with several wooden boards covering a broken skyfacing window.
Javits Convention Center: A large building that facilitates LARPing, concerts, and gatherings of all sorts.
Nelson and Quinn: A modest building from which Foggy Nelson, Tony Quinn, and Becky Blake work. It is more affordable than most other law firms, though they make a large amount of money from a largely unknown and undocumented source.
Paradiso Dance Club: A strip club frequented by low-lifes. Out of their desperation, many of it's dancers are hired underage. Without being advertised, it has a hidden brothel available to certain criminal clientele.
St. Vincent Hospital: A hospital full of hardworking and underpaid medical experts, many volunteers, and alternative treatment advocates. It has a helipad with no helicopter, but is located near a train and bus stop. For much of the staff's work, they are not compensated. It hinges on bankruptcy because of its generosity to the community.
Sticks Billiards: A pool hall frequented by various gang members and general lowlifes.
| Character Goals | Having fun is my number one goal. Daredevil and his life are vehicles for this. I've written an intense Daredevil before, a ninja-centric app, a supernatural app,and a thousand spins on him. But being a detective just seems to better fit the character. DD hunts for justice, but lawyers don't do as much pursuing as they do arguing. Accordingly, I've tweaked his history to accommodate this. Plus, a lawyer can only have so much free time.
Changes have been made in response to universal events and other characters involved, or where I feel the story works better. My posts are going to deal with characters and life events, with a bit of slice of life thrown in. Previously I've tried to shoehorn Ray Connor into my DD saga, but I have a different story for him this time, you can probably figure it out if you try, but I want to capture the fast-paced high-flying spirit of classic Daredevil mixed with the emotional drama of Bendis' run, touched by Waid's optimistic streak. Things may be familiar, but not the same as what's already been written. Put simply, I want to scribe a very personal piece.
Twelve years ago, I said something on this website that continues to embarrassing me to this day. I was a stupid kid, like most, but I've never quite gotten the taste out of my mouth. Anyone who knew me at the time can tell you about it.
I love this website. I'm pretty sure my phylactery is stored wherever the webserver is and a significant chunk of me will just disappear when it ceases operation. Until then, it comforts me. I should go to the hardware store and paint my bedroom walls with the same soft, brownish grey that the background color has been for the last twelve years. Some of my friends can't wait for the site to go offline but I don't know of any other places that offer the same sense of community.
I'm an omni-gamer. I like board games, tabletop roleplaying games, admire tabletop war games, suck at riddles, and have an absurd library of video games. Survival horror is basically my favorite genre. Otherwise I'm a fan of esoteric, occult bullshit and punk rock. But disco's cool. Disco is what humanity sounds like when it chooses to be happy. Between you and I, I'd like to hope that the days of my life can sparkle like a disco ball, accreting like sparks from a grinder held up against the unwavering dark of deaths own shadow.
