Sage accepted the Pokedex from the Professor with a smile and a, "Thank you," thrown in, before turning back to the two girls he'd bumped out of the way. The blonde answered his question first, bright and bubbly, just like he'd suspected. He smiled a small smile, then answered her follow-up question.

"Hoenn, huh? That's pretty cool. I'm from Alola, myself. Not as much of a trek for me as it was for you, I think- I'm not great at geography and such. I just... go places."

Reynardine looked up at him with what almost might have been a skeptical expression, and Sage rolled his eyes in response. Even only been partners for a couple months, the Fennekin knew him far too well.

"Well," he said, rubbing the back of his head in embarrassment, "I do now, anyway. I didn't do a whole lot before coming here. Kinda hoping that changes."

Before he got an answer (or even a name) from the blonde, she was addressed by some other new Trainer who'd just arrived, and she turned to strike up a conversation with him. Sage shrugged to himself, before a voice nearby startled him out of his reverie.

“Your Pokemon is cute! What’s their name?!” Sage turned to see Halloween girl standing up from presumably petting Rey, which was the most likely scenario, considering how the little fluffball was preening. He raised an eyebrow and addressed the girl.

"This is my partner, Reynardine. He's a, uh, Fennekin. Kalosian, I assume, since I got him from my uncle." He looked at the girl's own Pokemon with interest. A Drifloon, he thought, based on the books he'd speed-read before arriving here. He looked back at the girl.

"I'm Sage Monsoon. From Alola. I'm here to take on the Pokemon League. I, ah, assume that's what you're doing here, too?"
