Maybe I'll play Cyberpunk 2077 some more. My brother maxed out my character a year and a half ago. Haven't seen him since. Miss him.

”Mr. Dawson, why don't you have a seat?” He said, gesturing to the brown leather chair he had his hand resting on.

The men behind Adel stepped forward. They each placed a firm hand around his upper arms, half-guiding, half-dragging Adel to the seat. If Adel struggled in any way, their plan would have been quickly subduing him with a blow to the cheek - but besides tensing up, the man didn’t fight.

They shoved Adel into the seat, twisting it so it faced the mirror. Vincent still had that smirk on his face as he picked up a bowl of shaving cream and an applicator brush on the counter.

Slowly, methodically, Vincent applied shaving cream to Adel's face while speaking.

”Now, my men tell me that you and your spies have decided to make it your home in White Pine. Not that I care too much about that.”

He set down the bowl, picking out a barber's blade instead. He opened it, the fresh gleam of a clean, sharp blade within.

“What I really care about, though, is who set you up to do this.”

The blade pressed against Adel's neck as Vincent leaned over, staring at the man through the mirror.

”So, what'll it be, Canary? You gonna sing?”

Nocturnal Memoirs (2024)

"A million times I have done this charade. The moment people figure it out, I get the boot." she thought.

"But don't you want to see the fear in their eyes when they see who you really are...? Don't you want dominion of this place, just like how you were unchallenged in Vaal Kastrix?" said the Voice.

Ciara scoffed, immediately thinking of Gulliver and Valen. "I'd love to wipe the smirk off their faces."

"It starts by building a rumor. A rumor of power. This could be the place to start."

She took a deep breath, narrowing her eyes resolutely at the Undermage. "Head Advisor, with all due respect, you have no right to ask me about my intentions. If you want answers..."

She stood from her seat, rising to her full height.

"You'll have to duel me for them."

The eyes on her were apparent.

"Quand le chat n’est pas là, les souris dansent."

She mumbled under her breath, trying, yet failing, to appear unnerved.

"... Sure thing, babe! But, Violet doesn't work here," the bartender said. "She quit a few weeks ago, but I'll get you your drink if you still want it."

Alizée took a step back, pale eyes watching the bartender carefully, before she leaned her elbows on the counter, ignoring the performers and mens' eyes on her. Her fingers drifted over the bills she had placed on the counter, before reaching into her wallet and slapping a hundred on top of the stack.

Her eyes went dark when she stared at the bartender again, lying through her teeth. "Real shame, that. My boss was looking forward to booking her for a good gig."

That's when Void swirled in front of her vision. His voice echoed in her mind. "We're looking for a biker gang, right? I got someone that fits the description, and they can't stop staring at you."

"Hm?" she thought.

"And they just sent a text."

"Did you see to who? Or what?"

"No. Just that they sent it damn quick."

Her eyes flicked to the side, eyeing her red-haired companion. Muscled, rough around the edges. How did Alizée not see this beast of a women when she first walked in? Her hands were large enough to wrap around Alizée's throat without much hesitation.

The real concern that made Alizée's heart quicken a beat was the text. There was only two possibilities she could think of. Either one, the muscled woman sent a text to Violet directly. Or two, and unfortunately, more likely, she sent a text to her 'friends.' Possibly the Wolfpack. A one-way ticket straight to Father Wolf, if such was the case.

Damn, she hoped she was wrong. What a way to send yourself on a silver platter.

She took another long moment, silence stretching as her fingers pressed on the hundred on the counter. With a click of her tongue, she slid it over, eyeing the bartender again.

"Come on, I know you know more than that. Why did she leave?"

A pause. "And uh, two gin and tonics. And a beer, same as her." She gestured to the muscled woman beside her.

"That sounds about right, right about now."
@Lexisheeps All good! It's Angel next, and then your turn so you still have some time, there's no rush. And of course, IRL comes first. :)
@WhiteAngel25 No rush and no pressure, I can't wait!
Echoing what Angel said, absolutely fantastic round! So much character development, and the drama.

There is a bit of planning that will be going into this next post, so I will likely have it ready tonight or tomorrow, depending on how everything plays out. :)

Very excited!

”You think I should give Britney a rest? Well, that’s fine, are you offering to help me instead? Maybe you can start by helping me pay for my next phone."

Alizée pulled a whisp of platinum hair from her vision, tucking it behind an ear as she considered Luca's words. Same old Luca.

"Shame, if only they saw the world like you do." Said the metallic voice of the Void Heart.

"Like I do?" She thought.

"Why yes, being in absolute love with your fate, and with me."

"Go to Hell, Void."

"Where do you think I come from? From your books, where I wander is very close to what you describe." His cold smile split the orb wide.

She pushed a frustrated hand to her temples, wiping her hair back, before turning to Luca.

"I can see when my advice isn't appreciated. But I will say this: you're asking the wrong question..."

And she left it at that. If they had anything more to say, it was cut off when Auri spoke.

"What is most interesting is that their leader, Judas, uses the Father Wolf alias."

Alizée swore under her breath. There's more than one Father Wolf, isn't there? Just what this story needed.

"I am suggesting that we simply investigate the Wolfpack. If Judas or the Wolfpack are not involved with the murders or Father Wolf, we move on to the next lead." Auri continued.

"So we night-stalk some girls? The next victim is Violet." Said the cold, sickeningly sweet voice in her mind.

"Absolutely not." Her thought snapped back.

The Void Heart swirled menacingly around Alizée's shoulders, wide purple and red eyes with their black sclera narrowed at her. "Talking back now? Need I remind you the last time you thought talking back was a good idea with me?"

She remembered. Ashley Stone had been the one to break up that fight before the police got involved. Damage to property, among other charges, would have been the least of her worries.

She glared at Void from the corner of her eye, watching as it slithered around her. "That was a long time ago. And I, for one, am sick of letting you have your way all the time."

Void simply chuckled. "Have it your way. I have a feeling I'll get what I want in the end, though."

"Shut up."

Just then, the door to the flower shop swung wide open. Staring at the group with an intense gaze was non other than Kali. Alizée blinked, recognizing him. The abscised one of the group, last she remembered. One of the more level-headed ones. One that she had some amount of confidence in before everything went south.

That was, at least, until he pulled out the badge.

THUD.

The folding chair clattered and fell behind Alizée as she shot from her seat, wide-eyed and panicked. A badge? Kali was a badge? Since when? Was he here for her? No, no, not possible. She kept herself low-key on purpose, leaving minimal traces. And it wasn't like she killed anybody, her night-stalking just left victims hospitalized.

Auri seemed to read the room and moved Kali into one of the back rooms. But the damage was done.

Swallowing hard, she shoved past the seats and group members in her way, but just as she was about to barrel out the front door, she ran straight into Jack. Her breath caught, staring up as he Void-walked right into the flower shop.

"Jack...?" She said, trying a smile. Before looking over her shoulder, swallowing again. "I... have to go." And she pressed a scrap of paper into Jack's hands. Her phone number. And she fled out the front door.

She didn't stop her panicked, almost-running walk until she reached her car, a modest, old model camero, and slid in behind the driver seat. With shaky fingers, she started the engine and took off.

There were many moments of silence before Void eyed her, slinking around the passenger seat. "You're that scared of getting caught, huh?"

"Of course I am. What would my father think...?"

"Relax, they wouldn't have any evidence on you anyway. I've made you a wicked night-stalker, one that's near untraceable."

"Near untraceable."

There was another moment of silence. "Where are you going?"

"Where do you think?"

She pulled up on the opposite street of the Veni Vedi Veni, neon lights flickering in the night. Taking a breath to steady herself, she turned off the engine, tossed her keys in her purse, and stepped out of her car, locking it twice. She double-checked her surroundings before stepping towards the strip club.

"You're just gonna walk through the front door?"

"You got a better idea?"

"Sneak around the back."

"Not necessary. This might turn out to be nothing."

"What if it isn't?"

"Then you'll be watching my back, right?"

"Humph."

She smirked at that, and opened the door to the Veni Vedi Veni wide, stepping inside. She made her way to the bar, ignoring the glimmering lights and staring faces, throwing down a few bills.

"Gin and tonic." She paused, then leaned in closer to the bartender. "And I'm... looking for someone. Someone by the name of Violet. Personal business."
Since then, Drake has been hoping to run into her while doing his vigilante work and put an end to her.

Drake what? D:

My reaction to @Days and @WhiteAngel25's posts. Epic is an understatement. The intro to Sabrina and Auri is tear-jerking. And the dragon really did open up Pandora's box. ;)
@Lexisheeps We should definitely make that scene happen, lol.
