Name: Yrhen (ee-rehn) Oharra

Appearance:
At 5'5" and 95 lbs. Yrhen has a very slight build to say the least, but despite her low weight she does not seem unhealthy. As she is always wearing loose fitting clothes her physique is not as apparent as her height. She has long, light brown hair, medium brown eyes, and tan skin. Her hair is long and only slightly wavy, almost always tied in a low ponytail with a red elastic band. She is reasonably attractive but generally more plain in appearance than most. She can be mistaken for a young or effeminate boy by the less observant.

Yrhen is seen wearing the same outfit almost 100% or the time. She favors a dull grey, baggy pair of pants and oversized jacket of an almost military uniform style. The jacket and pants have several large pockets, and are tucked into brown leather boots and gloves respectively. The jacket has a high collar and she wears a beret of the same grey color on her head. Her hair is usually tucked inside the jacket.

She insists on keeping her rifle with her at all times or at least as much as is permitted. The large, 13mm bolt action is mostly painted in white and mottled grey. Yrhen takes meticulous care of this weapon which she has named Blind Intervention.

Personality:
Yrhen is one of the most unpleasant and antisocial individuals one could have the misfortune of meeting. She seems to foster at minimum a quiet, simmering hatred for the world and everything in it. Her face generally switches between only three expressions: disgust, a deep scowl, or blank and emotionless.

Yrhen comes across as irritable and disagreeable when interacting with others, but a very 'by the book' kind of person as well. She is meticulous and focused on her work and surprisingly well behaved as a student, at least where the teachers are concerned. However, this behavior is simply a strong value for professionalism and less a positive note of her personality.

Maintaining a standoffish attitude or being outright mean she keeps her peers at a distance. While actually quite bitter from life experience this behavior is a defensive front; at her core Yrhen is simply afraid. She is afraid of getting close to others and of certain things about her coming to light. Most of all she is afraid of getting close to someone, enough to trust them, only to have history repeat itself. At her core Yrhen is an insecure, anxious, emotional mess; albeit with more empathy and concern for others than she lets on or even realizes.

Biography:
Yrhen was born in an isolated town and grew up without a father and not much of a mother. Yrhen's mother even abandoned her for several years when she was very young. Even when she returned the woman was more interested in drinking herself into a stupor than raising a daughter. Her only positive relationships were with her grandparents, who also taught her valuable practcal skills. Pe'pe and Me'me, as Yrhen called them, raised the girl as best they could, but there were some things they could not protect her from.

Yrhen has spent most of her life mostly isolated and moving from town to town. Being into a very poor family Yrhen often tried to make up for what her family lacked by helping out where she could. Yrhen insisted on learning how to hunt, hoping to help provide food and a little extra money. Her grandparents taught her how to use their old weapons and the basic principles of magic to make sure she made it back home. Having given up on making friends and disgusted with her mother Yrhen spent most of her time in the wilderness despite how dangerous it was.

Yrhen's life has not been a pleasant or easy one. Several harsh experiences, mostly involving interpersonal relationships, have left her cold and bitter towards others. Following the death of her mother about a year ago she has decided to take the few skills life has given her and put them to use as a military mage.

Whether they find her attractive or terrifying most beings with eyes agree that Q is an exceptionally beautiful... whatever she is. That is to say she is distractingly, inconceivably, pretty. Her human features could be described as 'smoking hot' even with four eyes. But her monsterous parts make her look more like some kind of alien artistic masterpiece than a functional living being.

The monster genes come from a creature thought to be extinct, the Koatyl. One of the earliest monsters they were very beautiful but also very dangerous predators, with powerful magic abilities. Fortunately for the human race they also had low intelligence and a weakness to poison that was easily exploited.

Much of Q's upper body looks human with smooth, soft skin, long hair, and what you would expect of a beautiful human face. Her arms are mostly wings covered in feathers. The smaller feathers near the upper edge are actually leaves, and like all the leaves on her body they allow for limited photosynthesis. She lacks properly formed hands and has only a thumb at the joint of each wing. Because of this using things designed for humans is very difficult for her.

A crest of long feathers starting near her forehead traces down the middle of her skull. A tuft of feather like leaves protrude from just behind her long, pointed ears. She has the four eyes natural to monster races though her side eyes are somewhat small by monster standards. Also from behind her ears grow thin vine like tendrils tipped with a small leaf. These tendrils have a range of motion similar to tentacles but are weak and have very limited use.

At about where the hips would be Q's body widens into a serpentine form about twenty six feet long covered in snake-like scales. At the end of this tail is a fan of massive feathers kept folded close to her body most of the time. From the end of her tail grows a tentacle like vine also with poor grip strength. Growing from this vine are leaves along the sides and several soft, beautiful flowers that emit a very sweet smell much like honey. From these flowers come puffs of spores when Q wills it, and these spores have a mild sedating and anesthesic effect on most things that breath them. At the upper section where the serpentine body begins are two much larger wings with no digits whatsoever unlike her smaller arm-like wings. Despite the wings flight is just barely beyond Q's ability, though she can glide and boost her jumps or speed.

The majority of Q's scales, feathers, and floral parts are irredescent and all colors of the rainbow. The color pattern usually starts with a black base and goes to purples, blues, greens, yellow, orange, and reds. Greens are, unsurprisingly, much more common on her plant based parts and red is more prominent in her scales. The whites of her eyes are black while her irises are mostly silver-white and have striations in every color of the rainbow. Her hair is black but also shines several different colors when the light hits it a certain way, mostly red and purple. Her soft upper body skin is a golden tan with some black markings here and there, most notably around her eyes.

It should go without saying that Q cannot wear much in the way of human clothing, and apart from very large shirts she needs everything custom tailored.

BIOLOGY

Q's anatomy as a first generation chimera is unique and she requires special medical attention sometimes. Also human facilities and equipment are very challenging for her to use. She tries to be very careful but she is prone to dropping things or knocking stuff over.

Her tongue is long, prehensile, and many times more complex and sensitive than a humans. Most of her senses are sharper than that of a human. Notably her nose, tongue, and floral parts can detect pheromones from any species that produces them. Q's own pheromones are quite potent but can vary in their effect from one species to another or even between individual creatures.

The upper wings have the same skeletal structure and proportions as human arms until they reach the hands. A clawed, humanlike thumb allows for some gripping ability against a vaguely hand-like wing joint. However, what would be the finger bones on a human are long multi-jointed wing bones. The smaller upper wings provide much less lift than the primary lower wings but still aide in enhancing movement speed and direction.

Q's upper torso is very similar to that of a human except for the size and placement of organs. Her heart is much larger than that of a human and forces the left lung to be smaller. Her right lung is very large and so long it extends past her abdomen. As she needs to eat quite a lot to support her body Q's stomach is large, and her digestive system is both simple and efficient. When well fed her body is far richer in nutrients than a human, but with an extremely fast rate of natural healing she can burn through this extra energy when hurt. Unfamiliar with the use of condensers Q will also use up this extra energy when casting.

The lower wings being much larger provide a significant boost to jumping or land speed and can even allow her to glide. However, they are not quite enough to allow flight as Q lacks the fully hollow bones and lightening gas bladders of the Koatyl. The wings are in the position of becoming humanlike legs in future generations and even for Q the skeletal strucure is already similar. She also sometimes uses them to move around on land better.

Several parts of Q's body are plant based such as certain sections of her wings and the small vines behind her ears. Any of her plant body parts can photosynthesize but this is not enough to keep her more than minimally energized. The most obvious flora based body part is the long vine at the end of her tail. This is covered in both leaves and flowers that have elasticity similar to skin. The flowers produce a fine powder which has both mild sedating and anasthetic properties. Her plantlike nature gives her a faint, sweet smell much like honey.

Q's lower body is like that of a snake though the scales are softer and provide less protection than one might expect. Q has several notable weaknesses like this. For instance her liver is undersized and makes her vulnerable to poisons, especially synthetic toxins. She is also more susceptible to extreme temperatures than a human. Thanks to her lack of hands she can use almost no weapons or tools any human would find easy to weild. Q may also be unable to fit her whole body into small spaces.

BIOGRAPHY

Q's mother was fully human, and not biologically capable of properly giving birth to such a large infant. Born prematurely in the wilderness she only survived thanks to her monster parent and his magic. Not known as a species that cared very long for its young, her father nevertheless raised her to the point where she could survive without much aide. He then left her with a community of chimera and has not been seen since. Q cannot remember that she even had parents though logically she knows she must have been born of a father and mother. To her the people of that village are all family in some way.

Raised as a child of the village she didn't receive a good education and, not very bright to begin with, she never managed to learn to read or write. In short Q is uneducated and simply very very dumb, though learning is not completely beyond her. Fortunately for her even though she was a largely unwanted child she was raised in an environment that accepted her for what she was. This encouraged her carefree and optimistic nature and her life in the village came with few negative experiences. Most humans she met were visitors to the village and generally were more tolerant as people, sparing her the common racism most chimera were familiar with.

In an amusing twist of fate the chimera of the village learned that Q had a strong and intuitive talent for magic. She had been discovering and developing her magical abilities completely on her own until they became apparent in her everyday life. With a love of fixing broken things, in particular damaged living tissue, Q suddenly became a valuable asset for a village that had mostly considered her a burden.

It seemed like a happily ever after situation but as chance would have it a misunderstood conversation led her to leave without warning. Unfamiliar with... everything of the wider world, Q quickly became lost. She stayed lost until a chance encounter led her to the doorstep of Mordhaben's institute. When she found out the institute could make her smart and feed her for free while she continued to help people, she quickly put aside trying to find her way home. As the institute adopted her as a student Q in turn adopted the institute as extended family, if only in her own mind.

PERSONALITY

---

Q, similar to her father, is an extreme exception to her race, but even more so being half human. She very rarely behaves violently or aggressively unless she has no other choice, and even then she still may try to avoid violence, instead letting herself get hurt. She is essentially as soft-hearted as she is stupid and has even been known to try to heal people that attempted to kill her.

Q is very friendly and loves people and animals, even if they don't love her back. She does not grasp personal boundaries very well if at all. Her lack of any single strong parental presence in her life coupled with a poor memory has caused her to invade random rooms quite often. Having lived with multiple families at different times in the past she often stays in whatever room she wanders into, even if she realizes it's not hers. More than that Q will even go so far as to cuddle up to whoever happens to be sleeping there at the time. This has been met with very mixed results but she still has trouble understanding the concept of private space.

Though omnivorous Q is primarily a predator and familiar with the fact that she sometimes has to eat other creatures to survive. She hates this aspect of her life and avoids it as much as she can, trying to scavenge off things that have died naturally. When she must hunt and kill she must take time to steel herself and tends to be very sad when she succeeds. Q may sometimes ask to drink some of a persons blood to satisfy her carnivorous needs. For those that agree she makes the process almost entirely painless and has a very good sense for not taking too much. She is very happy with the kitchen as it is full of all kinds of meat that is already dead and there seems to be an endless supply, all for free.

Q is predictably scatterbrained and has difficulty following instructions, sticking to plans and schedules, and learning in general. She does not understand complex concepts and her memory is often selective as well as poor. She does not speak very well and her voice makes a subtle trilling sound which, while not entirely unpleasant, sometimes makes it hard for others to understand her. She also has a weak vocabulary and words thing poorly, or misinterprets what others say or mean.

In short Q comes across as a simple, empty-headed child with a ridiculous talent for magic. However, one should not forget the truth of her existence: she is a fully grown, mature individual that simply lacks enough experience to conquer her mental and physical limitations. That and she is genetically half monster... Respecting these facts one could draw a very different conclusion from her behavior. Or several depending on perspective.

Little is known about Leere's actual appearance, down to gender, age, skin color, and even their voice which is androgenous. Leere wears a pale face shaped mask and is otherwise covered head to toe in clothing. Their hair is silver, thick, straight, and shoulder length hanging down either side of their face. Their eye color is impossible to tell for sure through a pair of shades and even seem to change color or have no color at all the closer someone looks.

Leere's professional wear looks like a blue military officer's uniform featuring a long coat and pants tucked into long brown boots. They also wear black gloves and a slick looking military officer's hat. Underneath their coat is a white dress shirt and underneath this is a black shirt with a very long neck. Despite the neat, official appearance of Leere's uniform there are absolutely no markings of rank anywhere on it.

Leere wears no obvious weapons whatsoever and rarely if ever display their magical talents.

Personality:
Professor Leere is a very difficult person to read. Not only does the mask conceal expressions and distort speech but much of their behavior and statements appear contradictory. Leere also will sometimes say and do things that are plain strange. Yet at the same time all of Leere's words and actions seem to have some underlying meaning or purpose. Leere is undoubtedly very smart, giving even the most senior mages across the empire a run for their money. Some suspect Leere is even more intelligent than they let on, though why they would hide the depth of their genius is as much a mystery as anything else about them.

Leere seems perpetually amused thanks to the slight smile on their mask and the tone and way in which they speak. This is supported by the fact that Leere seems relaxed and impossible to surprise or rattle. However, Leere's true thoughts and feelings are possibly, and even likely, hidden behind that mask and strange demeanor. Their words sometimes hint at emotions that are not openly observable.

Heroes of Beacon - the Next Chapter

Though she remained dubious about how helpful her presence had actually been Ben's compliments made her feel better. Here was what had to be one of Beacon's best students smiling at her of all people and assuring her she had done well despite her mistakes. Against that smile she felt a little warmth come to her cheeks and she couldn't bring herself to dispute what he said. In fact she couldn't think of much to say at all. She looked dumbly between Luke and Ben, imagining the two of them regularly taking on enormous Grimm. How are we even in the same year as students again? Despite the thought she was glad to have people like them with her.

"T-thank you."

She nodded without thinking when it was suggested she get started. She felt ridiculously tired and did not want to move anymore but she didn't even consider protesting. Besides, being soaked through as she was it was getting very cold, and she was sure keeping on the move would help with that.

She stood reluctantly, sluggishly as she listened to Luke. Worn out? She held up a hand, opening and closing it a few times. It was shaking a little, but from weariness alone or how cold it felt she wasn't sure. After the past few weeks, yesterday's emotional crash, and grimm studies...

A casual greeting from an unfamiliar voice drew her attention and she turned to greet the newcomer; one of Luke's friends, she assumed. She was surprised that she recognized him, though it took a moment to remember where she had seen him. She was also surprised by the cold shiver that traveled down her spine upon meeting his eyes. She hadn't gotten that sense from him the day before, in the Cafe, but standing just a few feet from him now she felt unsettled.

She realized she had taken a step back and was staring at him wordlessly. Rude, Skye. This is one of Luke's friends, and a classmate. Writing off the feeling as general nerves Skye bowed to the newcomer and thought to introduce herself.

"He-hello-"

The intension vanished in an instant and she literally jumped at the booming voice that seemingly came out of nowhere. Instincts again almost overrode common sense but she managed not to do anything embarrassing. Barely...

Heroes of Beacon - Contest of Champions

Personality:
Skye used to be a very positive, energetic, passionate, and fun loving individual. These days one would assume Skye to be a depressed, strange, and antisocial individual, which would be an accurate assessment. The destruction of her village, family, friends, and the events immediately following that night left her a shell of her former self. Shame and regret overshadow her life and she has yet to resolve her issues.

Though haunted and morose, Skye is naturally a kind and helpful person that is loath to hurt anyone or see anyone get hurt. She would rather jump in front of danger to protect someone than do nothing. She keeps to herself when not actively working or helping someone and avoids forming any close relationships. She does not speak which can make interacting with her frustrating, though she may communicate with easy to recognize gestures.

Appearance:
Skye stands at 5'10" and weighs about 140 lbs. Her hair is black, past her shoulders and slightly wavy. She normally keeps her hair tied in a high ponytail as it tends to get in her face. Her eyes are bright blue with the barest hint of silver. Her skin is a medium tan with a series of script tattooed over her heart and arms. The black tattoos are in her old village's language and are a list of names. Skye's ears and tail are red furred with black tips, not far from what one might expect of a red fox faunus.

Skye wears very simple clothes in dull colors, usually a full sweater and long skirt with heavy boots. Shades of tan and brown are the usual colors. During colder months she adds a long coat and scarf, but during the warmer summers Vale has she might be seen wearing a plain tanktop instead.

History: A simple choice, right instead of left.

Skye's village (Rokhang), a very isolated place with mountains and cliffs as its main defense, one night fell to an ambitious attack from the Grimm. Skye and her sister Lily were out near the cliffs when the attack began, and Skye had to make a decision: run back towards the village and try to find the rest of their family, or grab Lily and take her to the docks. The second option, though the cowards choice in her mind, was the best chance to save at least her younger sister and escape on a boat. She decided on the ocean as their only chance, even though Lily fought her every step of the way.

Skye got them aboard a fishing boat with several others and they waited as long as they could, hoping against hope but none of the rest of the family came. There was only Grimm and in the end they were forced to leave everything precious to them behind. This act was the beginning of the rift between her and Lily but it would not be the only hard choice Skye would have to make for her sister.

Along the trip towards Atlas the boat ran out of fuel and with very little supplies to begin with the situation quickly became desperate. Adrift aimlessly, people began to die and with so little food... Lily has never forgiven Skye for the choices she made during this time, and Skye believes she deserves her sister's hatred.

Eventually the boat drifted near enough to Atlas for them to be rescued, but they were the only survivors at that point. Both of them were placed into foster care and Skye took on both a vow of silence and nonviolence, haunted by her own guilt. She took on a lot of extra charity work hoping to make a harsh world a little bit better, but none of this prevented Skye and Lily from drifting further apart.

Though they have not dealt with the divide between them Skye continues to follow Lily whenever she moves and Lily does not stop her from doing so. Most recently the two have moved from Atlas to Vale following Lily's acceptance into Beacon Academy, where Skye does extra work to support both herself and Lily.

Weapon: Rokhang's Revenge (Primary)
A simple looking katana with a strong metal sheath, Rokhang's revenge does not look like anything special. The blade and sheath are fully white and adorned with script almost identical to Skye's tattoos. The pommel is hollow and designed to fit Dust crystals giving the blade whatever elemental property Lily desires.

Apart from it's excellent craftsmanship and durability there is indeed nothing special about the sword itself. However it is a superb conduit for Lily's semblance and when swung fast enough can throw that energy in a cutting wave for a certain distance. The Dust used at the time further augments the energy from her semblance and Lily can cause a lot of damage very quickly to Grimm at close range.

Deadly Sin Wrath (Secondary)
A thick bracer on Lily's left forearm solves the problem of her lack of range and high powered attacks. Deadly Sin Wrath is a truly devastating compact beam weapon, but must be used very sparingly as it consumes Dust crystals rapidly. Very rapidly. The weapon fires a highly concentrated beam with superb range and damage at a maximum duration of 1.5 seconds before a full sized crystal is used up. Tiny bursts with respectable damage output may be used though the energy consumption is less efficient and shaves .3 seconds off the maximum duration.

Wrath was originally designed to use fire Dust and sears through many materials on contact, providing a lot of penetration to go with its raw power. Other crystals like lightning or steam Dust may also be used but with a notable loss in overall damage. Also some types of Dust completely lack the ability to cut through things as a beam.

Replacing an expended crystal is quick and easy but Lily has to carry a large number of spare crystals if she wants Wrath to be anything more than a backup weapon. Wrath also lacks the ability to conduct the energy of her semblance like bullets or melee weapons can.

Semblance: Defiant Star
When facing Grimm Lily's aura shines a with a brilliant white light. Any Grimm that touch this light begins to disintegrate though not instantly. In fact the less Grimm nearby and the weaker those Grimm are the less damage her semblance can even do. Against most humans this ability is almost useless.

However, in the worst situations against numerous powerful Grimm the light of Defiant Star becomes brighter and the contact damage much more potent. She may also focus for a second or two and project the energy of her semblance as a limited ranged attack. Melee weapons and even bullets may also conduct the energy adding more damage to her attacks against Grimm.

The light itself at its strongest can be difficult to look at directly, but it seems to have a mild blinding and stunning effect for lesser Grimm she gets close to.

Personality:
Lily, like Skye, used to be a carefree and funloving person until the fall of Rokhang. Though Skye saved her life that night, part of her can't help but see what she did as an act of cowardice she had never expected from her older sister. Skye's following methods to keep her alive left deep mental and emotional scars Lily never fully got over. Even knowing Skye only did what she did to save her life Lily can't yet bring herself to forgive her.

Today Lily is a jaded, reserved person fully dedicated to the fight against the Grimm. Her innocence having long ago been lost Lily is determined to become a Huntress. She works hard towards this goal with a singular focus that leaves room for little else in her life. In short Lily is driven by the hope of sparing others the kind of pain she went through, but also a burning desire for revenge.

Much of Lily's personality is repressed either passively or willfully as she focuses on her combat schooling. However, on very rare occasions the bright, friendly, and sweet person she used to be is drawn to the surface.

Appearance:
Lily is 5'5" and weights about 120 lbs. with long silver blonde hair. Her hair is mostly straight but kept in a braid half the time. Her eyes are silvery blue just like her older sister but the fur on her ears and tail is a lighter golden red with white tips.

Lily cares little for fashion these days though it used to be something she was interested in. Generally she wears her school uniform most of the time, seeing little reason to wear much else outside of combat or training. In fact on missions it almost looks like Lily simply tossed the uniform jacket and traded the skirt and shoes for shorts and boots.

History:
Lily's home and family were lost in a Grimm attack save for her older sister, Skye. Her sister was responsible for saving her but at the cost of abandoning the rest of their family. They were then adrift on the ocean for a time and people began to kill each other and starve to death. Though she would have rather died Lily was forced by Skye to survive, no matter what it took.

When they were finally rescued by a passing Atlesian ship Lily was forever changed by what happened on that boat. Unable to fully blame or hate her own sister who was just as traumatized, Lily turned her feelings against the Grimm. With a vicious determination Lily applied for combat schooling as soon as she was able and put all her energy towards becoming a Huntress.

Recently Lily has been accepted to Beacon Academy as a promising student and moved to Vale with her sister.

Ok, so in light of the fact many people have not even been online in several days we are going to wait at the very most two more days. After that we might as well officially call it and restart. Az and I might need some extra time to fix things up all nice like.

@Etranger I feel the same way, believe me, there's a lot of great writing for just the short time since this started. But if most of us agree said reboot is for the best I'm prepared for that. Already spoken to hagroden who had some good ideas on improvements. @thewizardguy Glad you're still interested and flexible with how things go.

I'm going to keep waiting a bit longer to see if anyone else wants to put in their thoughts.

Akay everyone, discussed things with Azereiah and there's a few ways we could get things rolling more smoothly again. Would like your help by letting us know what you guys would prefer to do.

Option A) Completely restart the whole RP from the first post or so with a break between now and then; giving Az more time to develop and restucture things, in particular teachers and the exams.

Option B) Keep everything written so far and simply time skip over this particular test, that way nothing already written goes to waste but we can get this rolling along again.

Option C) Take a break to restucture the exams, back up a little, and pick up around the time following the written exam.

Any thoughts or suggestions would help, too.
