Yes, that's fine.
David Levitski | Haven

A sigh left David as he walked forward, hands shuffled in his pockets, the morning light blaring down on him. David Levitski had been up long before the sunrise, a sort of habit that the aged detective had previously programmed into his everyday functions. The events leading up to where he was now didn’t change it. Apocalypse be damned, it wasn’t going to change how he operated and functioned no matter how old he got. Then there was the thought that he wouldn’t have a choice about it when the time came, especially with the physically demanding role that David lived for decades— eventually at the end of the line it would all catch up with him unless he was exceptionally lucky. David quickly dismissed such a stupid thought.

Because that was what the thought was: stupid.

The chances are that he was already falling apart, he just didn’t know it. He refused to see some “doctor” at the camp they had set up here at Haven, and it wasn’t out of some fear of doctors or medicine; it was out of a feeling of extreme apathy. If he was going out, it was pointless to worry about it and honestly? He couldn’t care any less if it was painful or painless when it came. There was a void out there when it would happen and it wouldn’t really matter one way or the other. This line of thinking wasn’t one that came out often, but when it did it certainly put him harshly against those who believed in heaven and god.

But to David if they had an issue with how he thought it was their problem and not his. Not exactly a “team player” line of thinking, but sometimes you had to be honest with people and not sugarcoat how you felt. That kind of bottled up anxiety only led to you wanting to jump off a cliff and go splat against the pavement below. The sort of anxiety that had caused people to meet their supposed maker plenty of times before… and that was before the epidemic that they called an “apocalypse” happened.

A sigh left David as he walked forward, hands shuffled in his pockets as he heard a commotion in the house across the church-- seemed like they were into it again. Leaning against a shoulder-tall wooden fence he wondered what argument it was about this time… probably the same as last time.

Again?” He muttered as he waited for the door to fling open.
@King Kindred
With this in mind the ISF officers decided to offer him a spot in their Academy. It was either that or be arrested

I'd take this out and replace it with: "Given his heroic actions the ISF offered him an official pardon and offered him the opportunity to join their ranks in the ISF Academy if he wished to join them defeating other planetary and interstellar threats like the men he had defeated." Otherwise it's pretty solid and I have no issues with it!
Yeah, you are sort of the AGM so it should be no surprise to say you can just plop it on the tab.
One of OOC's many points is to facilitate random chatter to promote social activity that indirectly keeps people interested, active, and committed. OOC is not just a place to post setting inquiries, Q&A, and character sheets.
Small rule: Play to your level. If you aren't up to advanced, or somewhat of an average of what everyone else is posting(insofaras not being the low outlier), then don't try it.

See, I’m going to have to give this comment a big side of “Yeah, no.” Discouraging people from trying is ridiculous. For my entire time role-playing in the last fourteen years I can only imagine where I would be if I prescribed to the concept of “Don’t try it”. I can probably tell you where my writing would be and that would be in the damned gutter. People react to the writers around them, growing and improving as they see the expectations or standards of their peers posts to try to meet those same standards. I would have never made the jump to advanced and taken lead from my co-writers to bring my writing to an “advanced” level —and that’s only the most recent example.

With that said I can go on to the topic question.

My standards vary with the game’s requirements. If I’m running a casual game I’m not going to expect deep characterization or long prose standards. That’s not to say I wouldn’t welcome it, but there’s a line I draw with leniency and expectations since whilst it is a cooperative story that is meant to be fun to be involved in I do think there should be a degree of quality concern. I like to work and play – it’s why I develop deep settings and look after it with a big red pen. Perhaps that’s the editor’s mindset that I have, but it is mind.

At the end of the day all I’m working is some effort into grammar/spelling/punctuation, a cooperative mindset, and a writer who doesn’t commit to power-playing or god-modding. I’m pretty easy to please... most of the time.

Ugh, that's especially bad when they seem to ignore everything else going around them. Newsflash people; no one wants to read a ten paragraph essay into your characters inner-turmoil if the entire thing could be boiled down to "I drive down the street", and that goes double when you seem to be writing a personal novel or something and not actually interacting with the other players.

Depends on the circumstances or the RP, imo. Filler is fine if it's particularly good filler and it works quite well in either case in sandbox RP in my experience.
They are built in with the thread through tabs now.
@TheUnknowable
I think it's malleable enough, yeah, you're good.

@Dead Cruiser
I'm a bit cautious, but I have no reason not to trust you regarding it. Personally, I'd prefer the mind-breaking to be significantly (or cut) nerfed, but within reason that's about it.
@Gowi They are. When people enter the settlement they have to relinquish their guns while in the settlement. When they leave it for whatever reason they are given back their guns which are once again taken when they return. No one is packing heat while in the settlement, the firearms are tucked in storage to prevent any accidents.

If Haven were to come under attack then the guns would be quickly handed out.

So you want to know what we relinquished for the good of the community, gotcha.
