There Gowi, now you don't have to post a response, I did it for you. Much love <3

I also hate the aftertaste of certain kinds of tea. Just awful bitter hell.

I do not know if you are ribbing me playfully or not. Heh.

That sounds useful as a way to segue things into the story that characters need to know but might not know how to get, and I feel like it fits Xega's nature as a researcher, so if it's alright with you I'll go ahead and change the Gift to that and put him in the IC tab.

You mean CHAR tab, I hope. But yes, accepted if so.

@GowiOkay, so how about Edoric's "normal" GoR is the normal Mythic Compass, but it has an uber form (that I'll call soemthing stupid like Mythic Exploration) which you can dictate when it goes uber?

Gifts tend to be more abstract and not concrete; so I'm having problems justifying it existing in a compass. Then again we could write that away is that the compass is a piece of junk and it is only Edoric's perception and gift that makes it useful or something. I'm not sure, ha.

MIRIAM PRYDE

PRYDE RECORDS, 10:00 AM

“So what do you think you’re going to do about college, Miri?”

The voice that was talking to Miriam was that of her eldest brother, Jeremiah, who had done a lot of the bulk managing the record store part of the family business whilst their parents focused on keeping it generally afloat. Even in a small town like Millington there was a challenge of selling physical copies of records, especially to people who were Miriam’s age or younger. But somehow as a unit they seemed to break a little over even. A fact that Miriam was thankful for; she didn’t know what she would do without their little record store and music studio. Music had been the only thing she had to cope with the depression that existed underneath the soft smiles and kind gestures she responded with. A depression that she wasn’t sure any of her family or friends even remotely had a clue about considering she had tried her darndest to keep it that way. Had she approached anybody in her family of how she felt and about what was hanging over her head they would’ve reacted in the old-fashioned Pryde way— by overreacting.

Miriam’s gray-blue eyes looked over to her brother who stood casually behind the counter leaning against the register with a meek smirk on his face. He may have been just making conversation to her, but the question was one that had an ulterior motive— a very obvious ulterior motive. The thought of extending her education was one that she had considered and there were many accessible options for it. As much as she was “content” with a high school degree and her current job there was a longing for something, especially when she noticed her friends going off to pursue their dreams. But… Miriam’s dreams weren’t in education. She smiled back at her brother as she attempted to word a proper reply.

“I guess I haven’t really thought much about it. A lot of my friends are going through with it, but I guess I’m not sure its what I want to do. There’s plenty of time to think about it, right?”

Jeremiah nodded, “Just don’t wait around too long. The universe isn’t going to wait around for you, y’know?”

“Right, I’ll… keep that in mind.”

He wasn’t wrong there. Whatever her decision would be she couldn’t really afford to wait around to make it. With the back and forth financial stability of the family business there was a lot of risks— especially considering that her father didn’t exactly offer many digital options; they didn’t even have a website and if they did it would probably state “Get off your damn computer and go outside, you know where the store is.” In some sort of laughably blunt magniloquence. Perhaps thinking about something in website design or general business would help the family? But then there was the option of some sort of music-leaning degree… that would be the closest thing to representing her interest in the matter.

She discarded the thought as the chime of a customer entering through the front doors of the record store was apparent.

“Good Afternoon. Can I help you with anything?”

“Something heavy… something raw.” The leather jacket-toting customer commented nonchalantly, a look of delinquency about him.

She looked at him a bit more closely— unkempt black hair going down to his shoulders, leather gloves, a pack of opened cigarettes tucked into his top jacket pocket, Motorhead patch, and a devil may care attitude. If she was a more devious person she would’ve smirked slyly as she nodded.

“I have an idea.” She commented as she shuffled through the new release CD’s before sliding on the counter a option reading ‘SPIDERGAWD’ in swirling pink letters.

It wasn’t really her type of music; but it seemed to fit the vibe the customer had given her. It had the sort of bite the older Motorkill records had with a stoner sheen— like a piledriver of guitars and aggressive drumming. She wasn’t much for over-generalizing through genres and scenes, but it was definitely a “heavier” rock sort of thing that had a sort of “raw” meaty production value going on for it. She hoped it was what he was looking for.

“Spidergawd III, I think you’ll like it.”

He looked down at the record, impressed by how quick she had pulled something out for him before fishing a few dollars out of his jacket’s lower pocket as she rung him up. “Better not suck.”

“I hope so, too. You have a full week to return it if you think it sucks.”

As the jacket-bearing man walked away he gave a half-wave as he made for the door— content with the buy for now. Miriam didn’t find it odd that he didn’t decide to browse more blindly or pick up a few more records or idly chat but it would’ve been nice to have some conversation outside of her brother’s quips.

“I swear, Miri, you’re like the witch doctor of music. You sure you’re not a person-sized iPod?”

She giggled as she shook her head.

“I'm just a girl, take a good look at me.”
@Zeroth

Truesight could definitely be an interesting dynamic, though I’d wonder how I’d utilize it as a GM myself. Possibly could have it glance into the past as a sort of perception into what once was as to give hints or lore dumps at crucial times.

@ClocktowerEchos

Do you think I'd be able to add something like Edoric is less affected by the laws of gravity or friction but doesn't fly? (It'd be like him running on walls, scaling walls quickly without proper climbing tools, moving faster and making incredible leaps through the air).

It would activate by a little button on the compass similar to that of a pocket watch's and would have a certain duration/cool down (obvious) but could also be activated in short bursts allowing Edoric to "quick step" to escape and out maneuver people?

That could be something we went “ham” with, for sure and it fits the power scaling of the gifts of rebirth— though him activating it willingly would probably not be a thing. Could workshop it a bit. Like I implied, gifts are… fickle and inconsistent on when they want to reveal themselves to the user. Like, just because we’re fighting a giant skeleton or something on that unholy magnitude doesn’t mean that Syrenia’s Gift is going to “turn on” y’know?
Not sure if I should post up right now, or what -- are we clear for posting independently now?
There is most certainly a plot to be played with the gifts of rebirth, yeah – but that’s not to say they’ll be particularly rigidly tied to the plot either. A lot of the utilization of gifts of rebirth will be in certain moments of despair and will focus more on characterization and plot purposes then just “time to use my special power!” syndrome that is often seen in scenarios like this. But I will state that the idea behind it is to give powerful albeit dynamics abilities that are untapped to the party at a given time.

That probably sounds like a mess, though.

As for suggestions, the only tertiary powers I came up with during the "alpha" stage of the RP was:
  • The ability to become imbued with the full power of divine holy energies; so Holy Conduit.
  • The ability to become invulnerable for a limited window, impervious to all damage; sort of like stoneskin.
  • The ability to become lightning fast for a limited window, easily traversing around an enemy.
  • The ability to become invisible for a limited window, etc.
@Zeroth

This is a fantastic start, I’d wager. Whilst everything is sufficiently explained through your inventory and your skills & talents, are you sure you want to go with the Gift of Rebirth that you went with? Whilst it is workable and perfectly fine, I imagine having a little diversity might be viable. As the CS stands I could easily accept it, though.

@ClocktowerEchos

Edoric looks fantastic and I’d be interested in how he will play out, though I am particularly concerned that you went with a rather under-powered (comparatively) Gift of Rebirth. While the idea of having a compass that works in such a way is fascinating, wouldn’t you want to build up the gift that was granted by the gods given the nature of such rebirth? If you are fine with the gift as is, I won’t contest it as this is just inquiry at this point— your CS is plenty acceptable otherwise.

@Zamokra41

Unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to give off any of the vibes I was looking for and seems to be contradictory to the pre-apocalyptic tone where our characters descend from. For example, while this is a fine CS on its own it doesn’t really fit for a character who has been reawakened. I wrote nothing of “The Void” and I imagine necromancy wasn’t really a point of study in the old world nor was the concept of raising skeletons, horrors, or the like— understand that the abominations that we often see in Dark Fantasy settings came with the dawn of the Inalienable Dreamless which was an event that happened sometime after your unfortunate demise. There’s also the problem with demonic whispers and such. Lastly, there’s the whole “new gods” statement which makes no sense. There are no mention of new or old and… well, it’s incorrect. I’m not sure if I like the prospect of an “eldritch horror” transformation either.

For those reasons I’d have to decline the concept you’ve presented, sorry.

A little drunk, lol.
Also, for Season 2's OP, I am making a short summary of important events from Season 1. I have a rough draft below. Could you please let me know if I am missing anything or there need to be any corrections (particularly for the Avengers)? I know I need to add on a line in the last entry about Iron Man, but I am not quite sure what his role is.

Season 1:

August, 2012 - Hulk is engaged by the forces of General Ross in New York. Havoc and mass destruction is caused, only to be stopped by the intervention of three heroes: Miss America, SThor, and Loki.
August, 2012 - At the same time, Spider-Man, Hawkeye, and Mockingbird engage a Machine Bem, called Killer Unicorn (who is actually a triceratops). Unknown to the heroes, this monster was created by the evil Professor Monster.
August, 2012 - The Brotherhood of Mutants attacked Senator Kelly's political rally in Boston. However, the Brotherhood's plans were thwarted by the combined efforts of the X-Men (Jean Grey, Beast, Storm, and Quicksilver) and Ms. Marvel.
August, 2012 - Herbert Landon kidnaps two X-Men (Firestar and Nightcralwer) with the help of the Chameleon twins. However, the X-Men (Cyclops, Colossus, and Iceman) and Spider-Man were able to free their friends and stop Landon's anti-mutant plot.
August, 2012 - The Avengers first assemble. They include Captain America (Sam Wilson), Loki, Ms. America, Antman, Hyperion, and Valkyrie.

You know Ant-Man is a part of those Avengers, right? Unless you don't want me to join back up...
IC/OOC is up, feel free to move questions there.
