If you are a fan of Warhammer 40,000 or Age of Sigmar, let me know. Maybe we can put together an RP. I play Ironjawz & Kruleboyz in AOS and Salamanders & Drukhari in 40K.

Bio

I am a veteran of the United States Army and the US Army National Guard. I spent three years on Active Duty serving in the 4th Infantry Division (Mechanized) at Ft. Carson, CO, and the 3rd Armor Division at Kirch Göns, West Germany. I spent 18 years in the Army National Guard with the 26th Infantry Division "Yankee" and 29th Infantry Division (Light), "The Blue and the Gray". I was deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina with the 29th ID (L) in 2001 - 2002. I have also been reading military history articles and books since I was 10 years old. I do prefer Military Role Plays over all other genres, primarily because I have a vast knowledge of the subject including personal experiences. At the very least, my characters are always veterans.

I have been writing for pleasure for at least 35+ years but only got into forum-based Role Playing about eighteen years ago. I do enjoy Nation Role Plays and get into minute detail when designing my military. The only reason I enjoy excruciating detail in my militaries is because for me, it is fun. My education and experience on this subject afford me the insight to see the depth of the structure. It is not just a General and a large pile of soldiers. If someone wants assistance in designing an army, navy, or air force, please send me a PM. I will help. Please specify what level (echelon) or depth you would like me to go. When I say echelon, I mean Army, Corps, Division, Brigade/Regiment, Battalion/Squadron, Company/Troop/Battery, Platoon, and Squad/Section.

When I was a student in High School, I used to play Dungeons & Dragons. Recently, I have been DMing a 5e campaign of my creation for my son and his friends. 5e is so much less cumbersome than earlier editions of D&D. I do have an interest in Tolkien-esque fantasy-styled Role Plays as well. Time travel has always been a fun genre for me, but to do it well, one must have a firm grasp of historical facts.

There are only a few fanfictions I will participate in; Star Wars and Star Trek are two of them. I want to do an exclusively Klingon RP one of these days. I also avoid Canon characters.

I have real-world martial arts experience. I would love to write an RP about hand-to-hand combat, no fantasy magic chit, just hands elbows, knees, and feet. Maybe the occasional head butt thrown in to mix things up. I trained in Krav Maga for six and a half years. I earned a first-degree black belt in Krav Maga on 3 June 2017.

Krav Maga is an Israeli martial art form that employs practical self-defense techniques drawing forms & techniques from Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Taekwando. It is very brutal, demanding, and aggressive. During the seven years I trained, I have bruised two ribs, sustained several muscle pulls, and various lacerations and bruises over my body. I have received a sprained ankle and a fractured wrist. Before the first black belt test, I received a bone bruise to my right shin; where my roundhouse kicks impact. Yet, I am stupid enough to continue training. [Regardless of the physical pain, it is more fun than any other physical activity I have engaged in. Fortunately, the bone bruise healed up prior to the third and final test. EDIT: I did leave the sport over five years ago. :(]

Over two years ago I completed my first novel, a science fiction set in the 24th century. It focuses on a Private Military Corporation solely employed by the earth government. I started a second book in November 2022 and hope to work on that this summer when I have more time.

Send me a PM for a Role Play or if you would like to see what sort of an army I could build for you.

Loden nocked another arrow, pulled the bowstring back, aimed at a soldier dressed in studded leather and standing seemingly dazed in the kill zone. He was no one Loden knew, not a brother of the Nightwood. He let his arrow fly, true to its mark. He repeated the process at least a dozen times more, maybe more. Some arrows found their mark, killing or wounding his prey while others simply flew past to be lost in the wood behind. He would retrieve whatever arrows he could later, even if they were coated in the blood of his victims.

Curiosity did take him to consider the condition of his brothers in the kill zone. He watched their progress with some feelings of trepidation. He whispered a simple prayer hoping they would fare well in this maelstrom of flying missiles and flailing steel. He could not afford to lose another family member so soon after the loss of Brand.

Loden spied a well armored man-at-arms charging towards Varrick, who had recently dispatched a foe. He pulled back on his bowstring, aiming carefully down the shaft at this imposing threat to Varrick. He allowed the string to retract, hurtling the wooden shaft towards the charging man. It struck him in the chest. The man appeared to stumble, but did not fall. Varrick in turn stepped forward, separating his head from his shoulders with one slash of Varrick's sword. It was a clean cut with the severed head rolling onto the ground.

The battle may have lasted fewer than five minutes and appeared to be dying down. Loden stepped from his position behind a tree. He failed to see the close call Masef had recently survived, even though his brother stood only a few feet away. Apparently, he did get caught up in the moment, seeing only those events in his point of view.

Once the last of the King's men had hit the ground, Loden called out, "Is everyone all right? Is anyone injured?" He looked around and tried to count his brothers and sisters present in the ambush. But an interloper fell upon the group, distracting him.

This was no stranger, it was one of their brothers who he had not seen in many years. "Razan Ter!? is that you!?" Loden smiled and ran to his brother. They grabbed heads and bumped foreheads in the Orcish way. Loden never cared for real orcs, killing several in those years between leaving the Nightwood and today. But Razan Ter, was his brother, never considered as a real orc. This one was special, at least to him. He was his friend, confidant and brother. He would die for this man, who only looked like an orc.

"So he's really passed?" Razan Ter asked the question. It served to bring Loden back to reality. The joyous expression of a hasty reunion, rapidly replaced by the grim expression of sadness.

"Yes, my brother. Our father has passed," Loden looked at Razan Ter and then up at Masef inspecting the corpse. "Go take a look for yourself." He pointed at Masef, then turned toward Krayton Mott holding his right hand pressed over his left bicep.

Always ready to help anyone injured, Loden rushed to Krayton's side, "sit down!" he ordered.

Krayton sat upon a fallen timber. Loden eyed the laceration to the outside of Krayton's arm. "I will need to sew it up. You are cut pretty deep." He pulled his pack off his back and retrieved a needle and thread. After pushing the thread through the eye of the needle, he began to pierce the pointed end into Krayton's flesh. The larger man winced at the slight pain, but bore it bravely. Slowly, Loden worked his fingers back and forth in an attempt to close the wound. Once he was complete, he cut the string, returned the needle to his pack and retrieved a white powder. "This will reduce the pain and prevent the wound from festering," Loden attempted to calm him down knowing that if the wound began to fester it could go bad. "Let me know if this starts to smell liked old rotten cabbage." He finished it off by wrapping a strand of cloth around the wound, binding it tightly. But not too tightly as to cut the circulation off.

Man all you badasses taking martial arts, all I do is try and work out and not be fat. But, I'm enlisting, so the army will teach me how to kill soon enough.

Hua! I spent 21 years in the US Army. I retired 13 years ago. Infantry, all the way!
Yea, I sat behind Jesus in First Grade.
Thanks for the advice. I do Kickboxing two to four days a week and Krav Maga two to three days a week. We do plenty of those. Try doing 50 burpees as fast as you can go.

Try the Sally Challenge. This one sucks. :(
I can go just shy of half the song.

This is my school...

We should probably get Sachevia on there as well.

Updated the preceding chart to include Sachevia.
I also adjusted Hara's departure year.

@The Survivor I finally finished reading Razan Ter. Wow! Excellent Character sheet. That's coming from someone who disdains the use of "monsters" (i.e. Orcs and Goblins) as a playable race in D&D. I really like your character. well done! I will have to review my age graph to include Survivor's and Hellis' characters.

Your interest in military RPs gives you a +1, but then you had me at Don't Fear the Reaper one of my favorite songs of all time.
Hopefully, I can catch up tomorrow and have a post up then.
May I offer a suggestion? About a year ago, I created an RP about a Private Military Corporation called "Alamo Scouts". It is set in the "not too distant future"; and loosely based on the video game Call of Duty: Advanced Warfighter. I ask for non-canonical characters and intent on using the COD;AW weapons and equipment as well as organizations used in the video game. The name Alamo Scouts is based on the WWII unit, 6th Army Special Reconnaissance Unit, which operated out of Australia and performed similar operations into the Pacific Theater of Operations (PTO). This RP is an example of borrowing lessons from the past and thrusting them slightly into the future using a quasi science fiction setting based on theoretical technology of today. Below, in the hider is the In Character post I wrote up about Alamo Scouts. This seems to fill the idea @NickTrano came up with.

I'm just going to stick this here in case someone would like to take a look. I know @POOHEAD189 and @R31GN share this interest.

Military Role Plays
I have attempted to present various military Role Plays over the past five or more years and have experienced varied responses. It is my favorite subject, I enjoy reading and writing about. I have had an interest in the military all of my life, I am a veteran and can generate material from several resources to write about for my posts as well as personal experiences.

If you share this interest with me, please post here or send a PM with an idea of what you would like to write about. I can cover historical fictions, present day, the not so distant future, fantasy and science fiction. Even a post apocalyptic setting with a military theme is appealing.

Share your ideas and we can discuss in PM how to work them into an RP. I can work with dialogue, personal accounts, small unit tactics (squad, platoon, company and battalion), Brigade and division operations or strategies at the Corps, Army or higher level. If you would like to work with naval or air units that is acceptable too. I am open to discussion. I don't mind if we deal with inexperienced, experienced, veterans or elite personnel. I can accommodate either request.

Also, if you would like to do a 1x1 with just two "Joes". We could do a slice of life for two veterans that have been off active duty for some time and having to deal with physical or psychological issues related to a combat tour. What about the idea of Role Playing a military academy like West Point, Sandhurst or the Citadel; fictitious school of course. Then have some plot going on at the school. That is fine also. Not a big fan of the Prisoner of War (PW) concept, but other than that, I am open to just about anything even steam punk.

Send a PM or post an idea here. I prefer advanced settings, but also participate in casual. I do not have the luxury to sit at my computer with enough frequency for free play.

If you are looking at this and know of an active military role play you believe I may be interested in, send me a PM with a link and I'll check it out.

Thanks for reading and send me your thoughts.
