Is the rioting and BLM brought up yet?

Honestly, I don't get the grief given to SAO when there's stuff like Mushoku Tensei where the MC actively lusts for underaged girls. And it's the most popular isekai in Japan.

Also, it's kinda annoying going back and forth writing short replies since I got other stuff to do and that just interrupts my rythm.

"Well, I am British after all. Of course I wouldn't look like a Japanese," Clara responded when Minato said she didn't resemble anyone from the Japan he knew. From what tales she had heard about them, they had yellow skin and slanted eyes, being an Oriental.

"Hmm? Perhaps you're right." Clara replied when Minato said her outfit would attract attention. "I'm wearing an apron dress after all. Such a Western clothing would be quite uncommon in this Eastern lands. I wouldn't really be that bothered by the attention though. And I think your outfit would attract attention as well. I don't think the Japanese people wear something like that either."

"And what is the JSDF? An acronym?"

"Well, if you want to do it normally, then we could--" Her sentence was cut off when she heard the loud sound of Minato's bike. Her eyes widened. She had no idea what sort of machine he was sitting on top on.

"Umm, what is that, if I might ask?" she asked him. "It's the first time I've laid my eyes on such a machine."

Suwako watched as her vines did their work. Slowly but surely, the enraged monster girl lost her strength and eventually, one of her vines landed on her throat. And from that, it was an easy matter of choking her into unconsciousness.

"Hmm, that was easier than I thought it would be," she said to herself.

She noticed however the ring of flames surrounding the weakened magical girl, thanks to her burning her vines. She sighed. She had to save her now, or else she would die. She heard the Beacon's order, and Alicia's, meaning that she had to save her, now that she had transformed back to her human form. Thus, she created a bridge of wood from her vantage point towards the rooftop, intending to procure the unconscious former monster girl. However, before she could do so, the boy had already gotten to her first. He quickly retreated to the ground floor, putting barriers behind him to prevent, or at least delay, anyone who tried going after him.

Well, whatever. That's goal accomplished, though not with her own hands.

She returned her attention back to the other magical girls present. One of their opponents had just attacked Alicia. Luckily, she managed to dodge it before retaliating with her own arrows. She decided she would take the opportunity and join on the attack, firing off a series of her own arrows towards her. She should have difficulty dodging them all, as her attack came from a different angle from Alicia's. Her attacks didn't carry the intend to kill, or seriously damage however, as she didn't put her magical charge into them. She wanted to immobilize her first, before sending off her real attack. No sense in wasting her mana right away.

"Ah, I almost forgot."

She stomped her left feet to the tree stump she was standing on. It was more of a gesture than anything else, as she willed her magic to cut off the wooden bridge she had created, making her safe from any close range attacker once more.

Too bad Suwako is Beacon and Thalia is a monster girl.

Kanako ran as fast as she could, not noticing, or not caring, for the pleas of her partner whom she was dragging along behind her. As Jideh separated from her grasp forcefully, she ended up running away on her own. However, she was unable to run for long as a rumble of energy suddenly shot out from the spider-like creature, creating a wall that blocked her path.

"Gah!" she shouted in frustration before turning around to face the monster once more. She then saw her partner in front of her, so she quickly approached him to regroup. She still thought it was in their best interest to run, but Jideh quickly said otherwise, as he suspected foul play were in the works, and that they should use their elemental powers, rules be damned.

"F-fine!" she replied. "J-just a warning though, my control of my element isn't that great yet! I can only create strong gusts! And I don't think it would be very effective against... whatever that is!"

She then heard him saying that he had a trick in his mind.

"W-what is it? Speak, before that thing got on top of us!"

Clara sighed. It seemed it was a folly to expect the clown jester to answer her questions honestly. At least he gave her some directions before leaving, she thought.

She returned back to where her partner was, landing smoothly with her dainty two legs. "Well, it seemed we're now in the same boat. The jester told us to head to a village northeast of here to gain more information. There should be a library there. And a computer, whatever that might be." Being from the 19th century, she was certainly unfamiliar with the more modern side of technology.

"Ah, I suppose I haven't introduced myself. My name is Clara Witherfield. Pleased to meet you." She then gave him a polite little bow. "I trust it's in our best interest to join forces for the time being. So if you're willing... hmm, can you fly? If not, I could carry you along. Ah, do not worry. I might look little but my strength is quite considerable, thanks to my magic. Umm... you are a magic user, are you not?" She had a feeling that the jester wouldn't have kidnapped ordinary people.

Just waiting for clown to post.
Kluuto

"Ah, I see..." Kluuto responded to the boy's answer. Now she felt dejected. She realized that she really didn't have that much in a way of employable skills. It would be hard for her to get the job she wanted at her current state. She formed a plan in her mind however. If she couldn't get employed, then at the very least, she could frequently visit the library and visit the books there. Who knows? With enough knowledge, perhaps she would gain the needed criteria to evolve. Probably to some bookworm creature but as long as it could cast magic, she didn't care. Sure, she preferred to have a humanoid evolution, but knowing magic was the most important thing now.

Kluuto then watched as the others got their examinations as well. It seemed like their results were mostly the same, though of course they had differing gifts. However, he remarked that it was strange for a bunch of the goblins to be born with souls like them, with information that even he couldn't grasp. Well, she couldn't argue with that. She had a feeling that they were a special bunch.

Iris then asked why he thought of Yggdrasil as "a freak". He answered with a pretty good explanation, how it was pretty much a really strong tree monster and how it managed to do something that should be impossible with its methods. She didn't understand it very well, but now she knew just how strong Yggdrasil was.

Hmm, so there were others like them as well. That felt somewhat comforting. They weren't the sole ones with this oddity after all. The boy then warned them not to get cocky. Of course they won't, or at least she won't. She had no plans to go out there and fight monsters. Her evolutionary route and her gift preferred a nonviolent approach after all.

Yep, duty noted. Won't go near this boy's father's tower.
Esther von Degraff

Esther watched as Gradon took out another wolf. As usual, he made it look so easy, she thought. When he reassured her that he wouldn't let any of the wolves get to her, she nodded to him, trusting his ability wholly as a partner, and most importantly, a friend.

She then heard the captain's command to push up the hill. Before she knew it, Gradon already grabbed her hand, guiding her towards the shorcut. She blushed a little at his brazenness. She had never held hands with a boy before. Her grandfather didn't really care for courting her with the other noble kids.

"Are we still counting?" he asked as he slayed another wolf as they climbed up the hillside. "Y-yes, I suppose..." she answered, flustered.

Finally, they rejoined the others with the downed Wagnil. Unfortunately, as Gradon talked with the others, he forgot to release her hand, so Esther had to ask, "Umm, Gradon, c-can you please release my hand?" She felt terribly embarrassed now that the others could see him holding her hand.

After that, they finally managed to go through the storm and arrived at Orello. She was relieved that it hadn't fallen to the enemy yet. See, there was indeed no point in thinking the worst, since most of the time, things wouldn't actually get that bad.

After the Captain gave her closing briefing, they were dismissed, free to have the rest of the day to their own.

Aaah, finally, she could rest at last!

She immediately headed to the assigned dormitory, saw that no one was there, changed to her nightgown, and then threw herself into one of the beds available. The bed wasn't that soft, but she didn't care. She just wanted to rest. And soon after, she fell asleep.

She didn't like this, not one bit, thought Suwako as she surveyed the battlefield from a safe distance, standing atop a tree branch she had created with her power. She didn't take this job to fight other magical girls. But alas, her hand was forced as they were forming an anti-beacon squad, hunting any Beacon members they could find. And she just happened to be a member of said Beacon organization. So now, here she was, fighting against them with her Beacon comrades.

And then, to complicate matters even more, there just had to be a pair of magical girls (one a boy) who strolled into the scene, seemingly taking the approach of a third party. And now, the leader of the Beacon hunters, Helga, had wounded one of them, the boy to be exact, turning the girl into some sort of a monster girl. Transformation triggered by rage, she supposed. Her power sharply increased, and with one blast of lightning, she turned the leader of the Beacon hunters into ash.

Terrifying. Absolutely terrifying. She had to be pacified at once.

And so, she summoned a horde of wooden tendrils around the crazed girl, with the intention of binding her with their wooden body. Wood had a somewhat decent resistance against electricity, at least before they caught on fire thanks to heat the electricity generated. But she only needed one of them to wrap around her body and knock her unconscious. And with her spacious mana pool, she could grow more tendrils as necessary without needing to worry about exhaustion.

She didn't want to use her arrows for this. She didn't wish to kill her after all.

So, who else are gunning after the Beacons?
