And back I am. Exhausted, certainly, and may need a while for that to wear off, but I'm once more here to read and even write!

There's a lot of backlog here on my end. I'm trying my best to lessen it, but replies might be less frequent for a time. A welcome change from the nothing doing I went through though! Thanks partners!

Bio

I suppose it is about time for me to copypaste fill in some information about myself over here just as well. Only took me a few years to getting around to do it.

I am a married individual in my twenties from the country some people dare claim does not exist. The Finland conspiracy is an old joke, you can stop with it now. Not a native speaker of the English language by any means, though I did begin studying it exceptionally early for our country's standards. I suppose it was some sort of a test case. With that out of the way though, what more should I be saying here...
  • I like being nice to people. If one needs to ask why, well that alone is reason enough.
  • I play and Dungeon Master Dungeons and Dragons, both offline and in the past also over here.
  • I enjoy OOC chatter, be it planning the RP or a more casual exchange (not that RP'ing is that serious). I can make do without, but don't be afraid to talk to me.
  • Whatever the case, I'm here to have fun and hone my writing abilities!
I do think that should about cover it, yes.

Thanks for stopping by I suppose! I do also have a Discord account, but I prefer to start anything RP related on the site. At least with people I don't know from the past, that is! But hey, now if you are a longer time contact of mine and happened to read this, now you know and can ask!

Kenza's attempt at running was met with another peppering shower of projectiles after her, several snapping into her feet and torso with finally a cluster of five or so beat her mercilessly on her skull, knocking her down onto the ground. One of the smaller gargoyles crash landed onto her back, adding its weight onto her to slow her down while the other flew in front of her. The way outside was so close, but the small gargoyles had the advantage in numbers. She could maybe overpower the other, but then the remaining one would get her. If she was to get out of this, she would really have to think outside of the box. Or maybe this was the end of the road?

Likewise, Derrick was in trouble. He ran from the Jailor who leisurely beat its wings as it followed. "Feel the pain of the creatures you sacrificed for yourself", it spoke as one final forceful beat of the stone wings sent forth a giant ball of radiant white energy. "Your soul will share their burden!" The blast started moving slowly, but accelerated to an immeasurably quick speed before colliding with the hunter. On impact, he first felt nothing. He could simply see his body falling onto the floor as he ran on for a few more seconds until something tugged on his back. Only now he realised what had happened: His body laid on the floor and some ethereal form of himself stood at the other end of a silver cord. The Jailor flew next to his body and clinked the shackles in its hands. "Do not fear death. The maze awaits."

As for Mistletoe, after the first sound, there was nothing. The silence was only broken by the creaking of an old house around her, everything within this room unmoving. If nothing else, she had found shelter. But what was this place?

More than happy to leave the rest of the situation with the jester to the hands of the equally fuming dragonborn, Dyn remained on the deck near Jill and Eliza. Or, after a mere moment only Jill remained as Eliza shifted away from the storm outside. While he could not be sure whether she had gone to the caboose which he personally would have preferred in a situation like this, she had still retreated to a safer location for the time being. Good. A minion without their abilities would have been nothing but a burden.

Now that that was over and done with, Dyn listened to the conversation between the wolf thing and the rest. He did not understand a word of what was stated by the Tabaxi, something that unnerved him greatly. What sort of promises were being made? However, it seemed as if there had been nothing too important as the discussion proceeded to moving their vessel into the world beyond the waterspout. The Beholder assessed the situation, taking a moment to think. Soon after Jill's words, he turned to to the de jure captain of the ship and shared an idea his mind had formed: "What if I were to form a spiral of water from that spout to help the ship up? Shouldn't break it apart like so..."

Jill looked to the waterspout, then back to Dyn, then back to the waterspout. "Are you sure you can do it?" she asked with a slight look of worry on her face. Her voice was low so that none would hear her question the potency of the mighty Dyn. "I mean, not that I doubt your magic, but the lives of everyone on this ship depend on it."

A grimace spread across the Beholder's alien features as he held back his loathing towards somebody belittling his capabilities. Soon enough he was capable of opening his mouth without straying from the subject at hand as he confidently declared: "Would you doubt a Beholder, an inherently magical being, known for their superiority and intelligence? If I were not able to do so, I would not even bother saying it. I am not one to babble."

"As I expected," Jill replied. "Make your preparations, and let me know when you are ready. I hope you won't think poorly of me if I make preparations just in case. Not that I doubt you, but it is possible that the wolf turn on us at the worst moment. You wouldn't want us to be defenseless without our Beholder to assist us, right?"

Dyn tilted his floating body back and forth in a gesture that resembled a nod, ceasing his concentration on his earlier spell in the meantime. The tentacles vanished from the side of the ship, making it possible for the Bladesinger to practice one of the more taxing abilities he had learnt during his studies. "No, I do not believe that to be a desirable outcome. I am ready as soon as we get the course set. Turn ship to port, so that we'd narrowly hit the spout on the starboard side. I am ready whenever." With that said, he began to float towards the front of the ship where he would have the best view of his target.

The prow of the ship turned back towards the waterspout, the wizard gathering the energy he would need to for the following feat of magical might. The events on the deck behind him, Koan returning as a hood ornament on the cranium of the dragonborn that had carried her inside now carrying her back out and so forth going unnoticed. Probably for the best of everyone, since that would surely have put a damper on the Beholder's focused mood.

As soon as the ship entered the range he knew his might would reach, Dyn'yer'zhead bellowed over the howling wind and rain: "Behold, peasants! Quake, the very elements! My command transcends the might of the elemental plane itself! See the water twist before me as reality itself bows to my whim!" Now being done with his starting speech, Dyn stated the magical words that assumed the control he sought while his gem decorated eyepatch shined as his arcane might was driven through it.

And lo and behold, nature obeyed. From the side of the waterspout, an upward travelling slide of water as wide as the ship split apart from the pillar of water, carrying the ship upward as faster than it had travelled on the surface of the sea itself. Dyn laughed his horrible laughter as their journey brought them closer and closer to their new destination. "Ahahahahhaaaah! I ascend!"

@Big Dread@JBRam2002@Ms Ravenwinter@Lauder@Zverda@Gordian Nought - We are going on an adventure!
The prisoner shook her heard as the bird clawed on it, a natural reaction from anyone. She registered Brannor's mocking words, but merely laughed at them. "Have you seen our main force? If we wanted this keep to go down, it would not be standing before our might. We are merely interested in what this town had to offer in treasure" There was no hint of lies in her voice, she truly believed in what she was saying. And given how the defenders of Greenest were vastly outnumbered and their only solace was in the walls of the keep, there was no reason to doubt her word either. At least it promised a quick end to this, rather than the situation evolving to a war of attrition where the invaders would starve Greenest to death.

As for the rest of what her adversaries had to say, the woman simply sighed. First of all, had this female voice not listened at all? The eggs were at their base camp. She had no need to go any further on that. And then the one person that had brought their bird to sic on her spoke, all of his words were the common heroic shebang that one could expect to hear in a cheesy saga by some minstrel, how heroes always won and the evil they were fighting would be driven to the night. Thing was, these people were definitely on the wrong side.

"I get it, I get it. Do your 'hero' thing if you so will nonbelievers. I have done my part. Kill me if you so will. I ain't in no position to change your mind", she finally stated in an annoyed tone. They had clearly dragged her here with no intention to leave her alive as had been evident from the moment how they did not even react to her dismissing their hollow promises of freedom. She had accepted death might follow as she headed out tonight. And now it had come to her.

Governor Nighthill lowered his hand from his chin and shook his head. "We'll need to discuss what this entails." That was all what the man said before tapping Sergeant Longwater on the shoulder. "Come. They seem to have an idea on how to deal with her." With that, the two men native to Greenest walked out, giving their nonverbal blessing on the adventurers going forth with their plan on how to deal with the prisoner now that she had ceased talking.
Welcome to the guild! I hope you find what you have come looking for!
Creft listened to the conversation going on behind him while keeping an eye on the streets before him. Vropda shared knowledge of their past, possibly a little more than the man had been expecting, but it was he who had asked. Ceraun's face showed she would have showed more restraint than Vropda did in her answer, but Creft merely shrugged back. IT was nothing he would mind the outside world knowing. The Scroungers were not known to hide their story, even if it was one of the rare things they really put out there in the open.

If it was not the third time going through this street today, this walk might have gone by faster. But now with most of what there was to be seen already seen, Creft could only find something to occupy his mind in the events of the street. In a cafe nearby, some metal creature of other species poured water all over itself, winning a disappointed shake of the generals head as a prize for their actions. As that gesture was finishing up, a loud sound blared from behind, kicking in the automatic audio dampeners of his exoframe. All sounds dulled down for a moment as a simple algorithm lowered the intake volume for as long as the shout lasted. The message came through clear, however: "I didn't do it!"

"Gradot, take front as your sector", Creft instructed the bodyguard next to him as he turned around to face Ceraun once more. Her report to him was simple: Nothing to be worried about. "Indeed, if whoever shouted that did do nothing, there should not be anything to be worried about. Let us carry on, there is no use going running in these streets we don't know. Who knows what sort of an ambush there may lay." With those words, he relieved guardsman Gradot from his multi-sector lookout duty and resumed the walk forward.

Not respecting the law might become a problem within the Ragnarov Fleet as their army is trained to be extremely obedient and not to question a single order given to them. Other than that, I do not see a problem in including a solo-operator like her, as the Fleet is not above using dirty tactics to gain advantage.

Let's talk more about it once her sheet is finalised and approved, shall we?
@Hekazu Nice concept. One thing I'd recommend is the Regeneration -- it is a can't die/heal all wounds ability, which is pretty darn powerful. You'll need to bump it up to level 4 (as that is the max allowed at this time) and try to tone it down to be consistent with that tier.

Well, Slammy is not that powerful of an entity even when active and it already taking a few weeks to recover should be enough of a tone down to my eye. But very well, I will bump the ability to tier 4 if you so wish. The one way to slay Slammy would be to slay its host, which I probably should also explicitly include, now that I mention it.

EDIT: Requested changes made to Regeneration ability of Slammy. Overall tier has not yet budged due to the actual combat effectiveness of the tentacle remaining the same.

EDIT2: Nah, just looking at the numbers on the sheet calling him a 2 on that basis just doesn't look right. He's overall on tier 3 now.
Dyn could not follow Koan's shenanigans at all. Nothing she was doing was making any sense, everything only served to make the situation worse. Whatever she was aiming for, the Beholder knew nothing good would come out of this. First she performed some shenanigans on the gnome's arm, looked like harmless illusions which he could somewhat tolerate, but by the time it came to freezing the fellow Wizard on the spot and using fire on her frozen arm, Dyn (and let me tell you, this term is only used figuratively on this occasion, no matter how fitting it might seem to be literal) exploded with anger, dashing right into Koan's face.

"You cease this tomfoolery right here and now, imbecile!" Dyn bellowed, turning momentarily to call upon his magic which freed Eliza from her paralysed state. "It does not take the Intelligence gathered in several centuries to be able to tell that fire and ice don't mix together! Or are you willingly trying to get one of us out of the picture when there is a giant ice wolf that just a few seconds ago was still barking orders at us?! Because if so, you are even dumber than your shenanigans just made you look!"

The Bladesinger pulled back a single centimetre, glaring into the eyes of the jester with all of his. It was very uncharacteristic of him to devote all of his eyes on a single purpose, so if she had followed the habits of her fellow crewmate she would know that she had royally pissed off the Beholder. One of his tentacles tapped the half-drow on the throat to accentuate each of his next few words: "Think. Before. You. Act."

Dyn understood that there was nothing Koan could do about her wild magic in itself, but she could have contained even that by not casting all those highly unnecessary spells there either. Given one of the lightning bolts had struck Ble-whatever, she could well have ruined everything the others were trying to build up here. At times, he was unsure why they kept this wild card around. But it was what Jill wanted and she was one of the few, if not the only one Dyn did not really feel like arguing with.

Theodore nodded at Wick, crouching to help her in retrieving her hawk off his shoulder. She was the only one he would have to do something like this for, her being the only member of the party shorter than him. While a lesser man might find it troublesome to be shorter than one's allies, Theodore paid it little mind. He had grown in the grace of Light and the Light had chosen him to remain at this length. It helped in hiding, too, when the optimal strategy came to it. Leaving these thoughts behind, he followed as the fellow Aasimar sent her familiar on its way towards the settlement they saw further before them.

On the order to be still, Theodore reflexively hopped down on one knee and prepared his crossbow. Realising that it might be a bit too much he slowly and somewhat awkwardly placed the crossbow back on to his back and followed the hawk's mission with naked eye. The templar prided themselves in their quick combat reactions, but right now might not be the moment to be quite that prepared. "Wick, I don't think it's that dangerous to be honest..."

To be fair, the settlement didn't seem like there would be that much threat to it. There would likely be warriors that knew how to handle their weapons, but there was no reason to outright assume them to be hostile. If they had a hall like that, it could well be a gathering place for many, thus meaning outsiders would not immediately be thought of as thieves. However, he let her have her moment and soon enough she muttered the words "I see."
