Current They call it science "fiction" when there are currently more planets inhabited by robots than planets inhabited by humans.

If you're ever lonely, dim all the lights and put on a horror movie. After a while, it won’t feel like you're alone anymore. Problem solved.

Who I Am

Just some scrub nerd who happens to RP on this site. While I tend to gravitate more towards building worlds and GMing and all that, I join RPs from time to time as well. I tend to stay in the casual section of the Guild (though I am open to trying other things) and my preferences tend to lean towards slice-of-life RPs and superhero RPs, along with the occasional fandom RP, depending. I enjoy trying new things, though, and I'm willing to hop onboard any genre if I find it appealing.

I consider myself fairly lax and friendly, so if you wanna chat, my PMs are always open.

@Hitman Then excellent, when can we expect the OOC to be up?

Hopefully by tomorrow, if not sooner!

@Hitman

I've been toying around with the idea of making a Communicator of either Acat (Mayan god of tattooing) or one of Laverna (Roman god of thieves), would either of those ideas be alright with you?

I'm not planning on including the Roman gods just because of the similarities between those of the Greeks and Romans. Mayan Gods are fine though, Acat sounds cool.
This could be interesting, could your chosen god be someone like Cupid or Athena perhaps? Or Morpheus. Another option is Apollo God of Music.

All of those are certainly options.

What does the status of being a Communicator actually confer? What level of autonomy are communicators actually allowed?

Being a Communicator means being a God's personal soldier, in essence. They are the liaison between the God world and the Human world, responsible for communicating the message of said God and eliminating any existential threats to the human/God realms.

They're like soldiers in respect of autonomy. When required to do a task, they must be sent out to complete it soon, but when off-duty, they're given free roam across the entirety of Avalon, which is in essence a mythical paradise. They're also allowed to visit home for a good amount of time per year, and all their needs are provided for.
Also, dumb question but if faith powers the gods, does that mean that the communicators of gods from Shinto be generally stronger than the rest due to Shinto having a relatively large following?

No. While more people follow the Shinto faith than the ancient Greek polytheistic one, the idea of this loss of power is more heavily attributed to a general shift by the public away from a religious focus on life and more towards a technological focus. Among other things, which'll be explored IC, and the fact that having one pantheon clearly outclassing the rest in power is a no-go.

Welcome aboard, all! I should have the actual thread up soon, so stay tuned!
@Hitman

I have a few questions; the first would be 'Can I play a non-Communicator?'; the second would be 'Can I play a moderately modified Mythological monster?' (say that three times fast); the others kinda take a backseat after those two.

I like the idea, though!

Oh, also, since Avalon is a thing, are we including Arthurian myth in the story as well, or is it an unrelated thing with the same name?

The answer to the first question is no, unfortunately. It would simply be difficult to fit you into the story.

The second one will depend on which mythological monster you choose. PM me for the specifics if you want to go that route.

It'll probably be an unrelated thing with the same name for the most part. Arthurian mythos doesn't have much to do with Gods, put simply, or worship.

Thanks for your interest!
Interesting, though I'd like to know more about these Communicators.

What would you like to know?

Thanks you guys for your interest

Many, many years ago, the planet was ruled by many pantheons of Gods, their divine presence forcing order upon their respect lands. These Gods were from different origins and ruled different lands, and they each respected each other's claims for territory. The Gods used their might to administer justice and ensure tranquility over the people of Earth, in return for continued sacrifice and belief of the Earthly mortals, as their beliefs were the source of power for these Gods.

These Gods ruled undisputed over the Earth for many years, but times did change. They found people were moving away from their religion and their lands of worship. The Gods realized that their power was dwindling. They would have to turn to a different way of connecting with the human world. Soon, an idea came to their minds.

That was the origin of the Communicator Program. Each major God of every pantheon would choose a Communicator, a human person, to imbue a fraction of their powers into. These humans would represent these Gods in the world, able to infiltrate the ranks of the mortals easier than the Gods themselves and continue the God's quest with their new human aids.

The Gods then quickly went about setting their plan to action. First, they seized the mythical island of Avalon, a place no human or beast could simply wander upon, and designated it as the Communicator Headquarters, the place where the Gods would teach the Communicators their powers and limits, while also giving them a safe place to rest and a home base, so to speak. Then, the Gods appeared to their chosen mortals across the globe in a dream, telling them of this role, and then, transporting them to Avalon to train.

These Communicators would have a heavy task before them, but a future of being a champion of the globe and protector from evil awaited these young warriors.

That is, if they don't get them first.

If you already have a character idea in mind, feel free to clear it up with me! I'll be accepting characters from the major ancient religious pantheons (Greek, Egyptian, Norse, Shinto, and Celtic most likely).

Thanks for reading, and I hope you join!

Great society could never sustain itself. The Macedons, the Romans, the Mongols, the greatest of empires all crumbled once their best leaders perished, and bad men took the throne for themselves. The power-hungry always shoot themselves in the feet.

But in all these cases, from the ashes rose new kingdoms. But not this time.

Anarchic revolutions began in 2049, large mobs rising up against the armies of the world. Of course, the government had these mobs eliminated with ease, thanks to their superior technology. That would change once the corporations decided to switch teams. Withdrawing all support from the government and putting tech in the hands of the people, world governments collapsed one by one. By 2052, 90% of the world's governments had collapsed entirely.

The corporations, now with popular support of the people thanks to their aid in the Great Uprising, declared themselves the inheritors of the globe. Meeting in Switzerland (still absolutely neutral), the corporations split up the globe. Pinnacle situated themselves in Europe and Oceania, Automatons in North America, Uteti in Asia, and F&O in South America and Africa. Relations were at first peaceful, but the corporations realized that their was, in fact, a major threat to their power- each other. Opposing harsh authoritarian laws and funneling funds out of the economy into their weapons development program, the corporations cracked down on dissidence and created an arms race.

Each of the corporations was armed to the teeth, and an attack on each other would lead to disastrous ruin. None of the people in charge wanted that. They needed a third party, somebody that could air out their dirty laundry unattached, unaffiliated.

Enter Agency X.

A private intelligence corporation, funded by a mysterious man named the Director. The corporations have tabs on every man, woman, and child in the world, but somehow the Director's real identity has managed to escape them. A scientist working in Antarctica, the only place left where free speech is even an option? A disgruntled corporate employee? An alien? An android? Nobody knows. All the corporations know is that the Director runs the small Agency X, a crack team of hand-picked specialists from across the world. They also know that the Director's men are superhuman- somehow, the Director got his hands on an Augmentor, a device that allows for the modification of the human body for increased functioning. And the last thing they know is that if a mission file and some cash is wired his way, good things will happen for the corporation.

What they don't know is that the Director doesn't want to be a pawn in the corporation's game. Soon, it will become time for Agency X to strike back. Set up a new world order. Hopefully, this time, one that will last forever.

If we succeed? Maybe the craphole the world has become might change.

If we fail? That's why we give you those pills. You don't want to see the insides of the corporate re-education chambers.

I won't see the inside of another.

The odds are stacked against us, but the Director and I have faith in you.

Good luck, agents.

Count me in.

Name: Allegra Octavia Fuguetta
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Appearance: Allegra is a petite young lady, standing at around 5’2” tall with a thin, slender body. She has natural shamrock green hair and piercing orange eyes. With a toned build from dancing, Allegra usually wears layers from what seems to be perpetual coldness, and displays a different fashion trend every day.

When switching into Pirouette Form, Allegra’s hair turns scarlet orange, her eyes turn bright red, and she gains a ferocious aura about her.

Biography: Born into a very musical and very optimistic, albeit financially uncertain, family, Allegra was raised in a loft in the hustle-and-bustle of Castelia City. With her parents spending most of the day working to make ends meet, Allegra spent most of her free time relatively alone, roaming throughout the city and enjoying the sights while also working on music. She could often be found sitting at one of Castelia’s piers, strumming her guitar, or inside the Cafe Sonata, tickling the ivories of the piano there. While she played a majority of instruments she touched quite well, it was her voice that was her pride and joy. She was gifted with a powerful voice with great range and deep emotion, and her vocal talent was quickly recognized by many. At the age of 14, she had been signed by a minor record label in Castelia and recorded an EP, and she began touring in her free time.

She found out that her musical talents were more than just talents while playing for a small crowd in Castelia Park, whereupon after reaching the climax of her first single, she belted a note that caused all present to instantly fall asleep. She quickly went from rising star to ostracized and accused of being a “maker of disaster” in meer moments, and she quickly hid away from the world.

Upon receiving notice of a “Reincarnation Tournament,” she contemplated the request before finally agreeing to join. She was never really much of a battler, but she felt drawn to whatever this activity was. If she was a reincarnation, she was supposed to do what reincarnations do, after all.

Original region: Unova
Other:

  • Along with singing, Allegra plays the guitar, piano, harmonica, and ukelele very well.
  • Her debut (and only) EP, titled "Five-Leaf Clover," experienced fair success in Unova and was a minor hit outside as well.
  • Strangely seems to have no fear of any type of Pokemon.
