Nice intro post.
<Snipped quote by Host>

Does it even make you the same person? Or are you just someone new know born out of the person that you used to be?
*Shudders*
Yeah, it sucks to even think about.

That's a really good question.
*Pauses and thinks*
I... would probably say that you're still you, but distorted. Buggy.
<Snipped quote by Host>

Anything. The beauty of science is mirrored by its horrifying side. You see people changing how others’ brains work, or even going so far as to modify them genetically to meet their specific needs. I’m not sure how you mean “rewriting code” on a specific level, but the thought of the potential for me to be changed on the biological or chemical levels is really scary. My dad could tell you stories, I’m sure.

That sounds horrible. I think I'd rather just be deleted.
<Snipped quote by Host>

It’s scary to me as a person. Things like that happen to living people too.

Really? What happens?
<Snipped quote by Host>

Okay, so he doesn’t hate it like some people do. That’s okay I guess.

Yeah, I think that some part of him, deep down after hundreds of function calls, still loves it. But the idea of something rewriting your code is probably the scariest thing anyone has ever suggested to me.
<Snipped quote by Host>

Does he still hate humanity?

He claims to, but he's also saved it at least twice.
<Snipped quote by Host>

Is... Is that the same Bass I always hear you guys talk about? Or are there two Basses?

Yeah, the same guy. To us he's kind of like that uncle you see at family gatherings but don't really know that well. He and my dad have a ton of respect for each other.
<Snipped quote by Host>

Oh, what happened to him?

It's a bit of a long story, but here're the important parts: Bass was the world's first solo netnavi. He was a little unruly because of his freedom and strength but was never really a bad guy—he just wanted to prove to his creator that his project was a success. The netpolice hated him because he liked to delete their automated navi-restraint forces for fun. They had them on instant backup, so it's not like he caused any damage. But one day, their systems go haywire because important things are being deleted left and right, they assume it's Bass, throw him into prison, and throw some limiters onto him, back before the technology was really ready. As it so happens, throwing him into prison didn't stop the deletions and it turns out the systems are riddled with bugs causing the outbreak and even accidentally releasing Bass from jail. Bass leaves and a member of the netpolice decides to execute him because he was out of jail before being "officially" cleared. Bass' limiters are corrupted and begin to reprogram his code. Bass deletes the officer and goes to live a life of solitude in permanent hatred of humanity.
<Snipped quote by Host>

*Does so*
Do you have one of those on right now?

Not right now; I'm still working on getting used to living with them on. I was kind of scared out of using them a long time ago when I heard what they did to Bass.
<Snipped quote by Host>

*Starts to walk around*
Woah... Oh, oh no.
*Laughs lightly*
I don’t like it.

*Laughs*
You can just pull it off.
