“Big. Yes. I have been walking for a long time. You are the first person I have seen.” As Alastair drew closer to the woman it became clear that she was much taller than he had expected seeing her from afar; although used to being shorter than most of the men he met, even without his slouch, it was rare to meet a woman who towered over him to this extent. If this fact bothered him in slightest it did not show.

The stranger, Ash, fell into step beside Alastair and indicated that they should continue in the same direction that he had been walking; a path that would bring them closer to the accursed light. Reluctantly Alastair took a step forward, then another and another until he was walking with the same stilted gait as before. “Alastair. You may call me Alastair. You do not know how you came to be here Ash?”

@Illiren
@Gentlemanvaultboy like a regular human male, albeit one that doesn't take care of his hygiene particularly well. Absolutely nothing strange going on with that guy, no way.
“We are not alone.”

There was a person ahead. A head with long blonde hair poked itself out of an alcove in the wall. There was also light ahead, the mere suggestion of it on the walls enough to cause Alastair to duck his head further inside his hood. “Prisoner or jailer? Yes. I agree. Another person trapped in this labyrinth.”

Continuing his shuffling walk forward, Alastair drifted over until he was brushing against the concrete walls beside him with each step. It felt darker somehow, more sheltered from the searing light that was up ahead. “Should we? No? But you are weakened and it might help. No. You are right, as always. There is no need for haste. And we should learn what we can.”

Abruptly, Alastair slowed to a stop. If it was even possible he seemed to curl even further in on himself where he stood, head dropping nearly to his chest as his knees started to bend. “You, you want to do to that? But you know I am no good at it. Yes, yes. Of course. It needs to be done.”

For a few moments Alastair stood still, slouched against the concrete wall as he took deep breaths, as if preparing himself for something. After a moment he straightened, standing completely upright and at his full height, his hunched posture completely erased. He walked forward with his head held high, the slow, ambling steps replaced by a more normal walking gait. His movements were stiff, as if he needed to consider each step carefully, but it was still far more normal looking than his previous zombie-like cadence.

As he grew closer to the blonde-haired figure he called out to her, his voice loud and clear, if a little raspy. “H-hello? Are you – are you lost here as well?”

@Illiren
“Oh, shit… Ok, no problem.” Oberon stepped forward and knelt next to the prone creature. Now that he was closer it was easily apparent that this Dire Rat was not doing too well; the voice that had responded to him had sounded worryingly weak and he didn’t like the way it was curling in on itself. Unfortunately, his options right now for healing were somewhat limited; Minor Heal would help restore the rat’s health to full, but unless something was done about the poison, depending on what kind of poison it was, that might just be a delaying action more than a cure.

“I can restore your hit points, but I’m afraid I can’t do anything for the poison. Not yet anyway.”

Reaching out and placing a hand against the Dire Rat’s flank Oberon cast Minor Heal. As he did so he used his Magic Analysis to try and observe the Mana being used, trying to see if there was anything different about this Mana compared to the non-elemental Mana he had been trying to shape earlier. He already knew his Minor Heal used Nature Mana; the question was whether or not he could work out how it did that and whether or not he could use that Mana for his other spells.

“Can you do me a favour and say ‘Open Status Menu’ and tell me what it says?”

Oberon cast Minor Heal again for good measure, once more observing the way the Mana was produced and what it looked and, potentially more importantly, felt like as the spell was formed. When he felt like he had a good grasp of what he needed to do Oberon cast a Shield I spell on the rat, but instead of casting in the normal manner and letting instinct fill in the gaps he tried to do it manually and he tried to cast the spell using Nature Mana.

“Finger’s crossed this makes a healing aura or something. A ‘heal over time’ spell would be great for things like this.”

In a separate part of the underground structure, the only sounds that could be heard were the low scraping of Alastair’s shuffling footsteps and the frantic mutterings that poured forth from his mouth. Walking with his head held low his gait seemed unsteady as he wobbled from one step to the next, almost falling forward before catching himself a few times, as if he was drunk or disoriented.

“Your voice is so quiet, I can barely hear it. Barely hear it.”

Coming to a stop in the middle of another intersection Alastair paused for a moment, swaying on his feet as he turned this way and that before deciding at random on a direction. “You do not know where we are? Strange. You know so much. I know so much, through you. Too much. But you don’t know where we are.”

Alastair let out a grunt of pain as he suddenly bent over double, clutching at his left arm with his other hand as something underneath his jacket began to bulge and writhe around, the fabric stretching and twisting to accommodate it. After a few seconds the spasms subsided, Alastair straightening and resuming his shuffling walk as if nothing untoward had occurred.

“Yes, yes. Sorry. I know it is not your fault. Something is suppressing you. Something in this place you do not know. Strange. Your voice is so quiet.”
@Gentlemanvaultboy

"Warp Spasm", called "Dog"... is this Cu Chulainn?
@MikkishtheLeprechaun

The point about durability is a fair one. I'd prefer to play my cards close to my chest for now as to what exactly this guys deal is, but I can say his strength is not coming from a magical buff. However it's also not coming from any kind of super power or physical conditioning.

He definitely doesn't have super speed though. He might be a little tougher than an average person to hurt but he can certainly be wounded which is why I went with regeneration.
Name: Alastair Matthews
Age: 24
Species: Human
Appearance: A Caucasian male in his early twenties with short but messy dark brown hair and light brown eyes that occasionally seem to take on a yellowish tint in the right light. Alastair is below average in height at 5’ 6” and has a slim build, though it is hard to tell given his typical manner of dress, choosing to wear thick, baggy clothing such as oversized hoodies and boot-cut jeans.

Alastair’s skin is pale and his complexion pallid. His clothing is dishevelled and worn, faded in colour and a little threadbare in places. He walks in a slouch with his hood pulled up and his head down, meaning that most of the time the only parts of Alastair that are even visible under his heavy clothing are his hands and the lower half of his face.

Weaknesses: Fire, Slashing damage
Phobias: Fire, Light, Certain Holy objects/symbols
Skills: Languages, Knowledge (Arcana), Knowledge (History)
Supernatural Abilities Tier 1: Regeneration, Enhanced Strength
Supernatural Abilities Tier 2: Partial Manifestation, Consumption
Supernatural Ability Tier 3: Full Manifestation
Other: Alastair has a habit of talking to himself
@MikkishtheLeprechaun

He is something.
@Strong Potato and here I thought I was going to be the first person to post a weird one.

@MikkishtheLeprechaun, here's one of two character ideas I had rolling around. If this doesn't look suitable I'll throw up the other one.
