MetropolisChristmas EveCollab with @ThatDeercatThor hovered over to the window to make his escape into the night when he heard a knock coming from it. He looked and saw Koriand'r floating outside. He knew immediately why she was here. She must have heard about Santa's evil twin ruining the holiday. He opened the window to let her inside.
“Hey, Kori! I was just about to head out and deal with Santa's imposter. If I'm correct about it actually being the Toyman I'm next on his list.”Kori drifted backward slightly, giving Thor space to come outside, frowning at his explanation,
“That is certainly not what I had hoped to learn from you, but perhaps we can use this to our advantage to draw the imposter away from harming people. So we are on equal footing, what can you tell me about this Toyman?”Thor floated through the window and hovered in front of Kori.
“He loves making things explode. He has friends in high places, literally. The last time I encountered him he claimed to be working with a god and had the armor to prove it. That's probably how he ended up being able to get the drop on Santa. Some kind of magic. I don't know what he looks like, though, but I'm guessing tonight he'll be easy to spot in a flying sleigh.”Nodding along as Thor explained, Koriand’r made a mental note to read up on the existing troublemakers if she intended to continue on as one of Earth’s superheroes. It would be helpful to have some background knowledge on whoever she might encounter in the future.
“Ah, yes, the flying deer,” she commented offhandedly.
“I assume he will be dressed in red like Santa, too. Perhaps we can lure him to the park? Surely it will be empty now that the children dance with sugarplums?” Kori had no idea what a sugarplum was, but she assumed it was something pleasant since the story of Santa said the children would dance with them in their beds before he arrived. She assumed the story was some kind of traditional ritual for children meant to summon the Santa Claus to bless them with treasure. It seemed a bit far fetched given what she knew of Earth, but then again she was still learning so perhaps she was just misunderstanding.
Kori was mostly right and Thor decided not to correct her on the parts that she wasn't. It seemed she was getting well-adjusted to Earth already.
“Kori, you're a genius. He better hope Rudolph's leading the sleigh tonight. Follow me.” He then sped off towards Centennial Park to summon a snowstorm the likes of Delaware had never seen.
Kori beamed at the compliment, and despite not quite understanding his reference she took off after him. She’d familiarized herself with the most well-known spots in Metropolis already, so it was easy to keep pace and follow Thor to the park.
Thor and Koriand'r landed softly in the center of Centennial Park. Thor looked around to make sure there weren't any civilians who'd get caught up in the storm he was about to conjure. He noticed a homeless encampment and flew over to them. It was already cold out because of the season, but he didn't want them to freeze and be stuck in snow.
He landed softly in front of their camp and spoke loud enough for them to hear, but not enough to startle them with a shout.
“Hey, it's your favorite weatherman, Thor. I'm about to conjure up a snowstorm to lure a madman here, but I'm going to give you all your own personal biome. Merry Christmas!”Thor wished that he could do more for them. He wished he could provide a place for them to stay, but he knew they weren't the only people without a home spending their nights in the winter's cold hair. He did have some settlement money left over. He'd see what he could do for everyone after he saved Christmas.
Thor went back to the center where he left Kori and lifted Mjolnir in the air.
"Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!" He conjured a snowstorm that focused primarily on Centennial Park. He did this for two reasons. Toyman would be drawn to it knowing that only Thor could conjure up a random snowstorm and because he didn’t want to rain down snow on the whole city when there were so many people unprepared for it. He made sure that none of the cold wind or snow touched the encampment in the park. If they wanted to play in the snow they could, but he refused to force it on them when they just wanted to sleep and stay warm.
