Ed Penior

Runa Baldurdattir

Ed was going around the Mansion collecting anyone's hair that was willing to give him a few strands. He had gotten Bethany's with no issue. She had been thankful for him saving her life during the fight on Liberty Island and with the explanation that it made it possible to heal her from a distance without getting some of her blood that was likely leaking from her, she was fine with it. He expected a few people would think he was weird or have issues with it. Runa was one of the people he expected issue. She knew how magic worked, knew that he could easily turn healing to damage if he decided. Not that he would. He couldn't. His moral code wouldn't allow it. First, he had to find her though.

Runa was sitting underneath a tree outside with Lance. She had set her shoes on the blanket they had brought out with them, but she was curling her feet into the grass. She had carefully plucked a dandelion and turned to Lance with a mischievous smile, before blowing gently, sending the bits of white fluff directly into his face.

"Wow Runa really?" he said to her with a bit of a laugh, giving her a smile. A few of the bits of fluff were stuck in his hair and he used his hand to brush them out.

Ed heard Lance's laugh drifting from outside so he made his way through the porch. He saw Runa and Lance sitting under a tree. He smiled. They were cute together. He didn't really know their story, but when Ed met Runa it had been clear that Lance and she already had a history. He wondered what it was, but would ask some other time. For now he had a specific question. It was convenient that both of them were together because he did need a bit of hair from both of them. "Hello Runa, Lance." He said with a smile as he came within earshot. "I have an odd question."

Runa glanced up at Edus, tilting her head ever so slightly. She felt it would be rude to be seated while he was standing, so she got up to her feet so they could converse properly. She didn't know very much about him - truthfully, she didn't know very much about any member of the X-Men (a name which confused her to no end, as the team seemed to be mostly women). All she knew was that he was magically inclined, something that apparently was becoming more common on Midgard these days. "How can we be of service to you, master wizard?"

"Hey there Ed," Lance said to him with a slight wave when he walked over and shrugged slightly, "What is it? And honestly, I've heard some strange requests, so it probably won't be considered too weird..."

"I realized during the fight on Liberty Island that having the ability the heal the group from a distance is good for the team. The easy way for me to do that is to have a few strands of your hair, root and all. I understand if you're against it, but if I can't get to you to heal you in time with the blood that might be escaping your body..." He trailed off not wanting to think about what would happen if he failed to heal someone during a fight. They needed each other to survive fights.

Runa pursed her lips slightly, thinking it over. Her grandmother was a witch and had taught her a great deal of her magic - she knew the risks of giving her hair to someone she did not know very well. Yet she knew that he was sincere and he wasn't lying about his motivations. "Very well. I'll require an exchange. A hair for a hair."

"Oh, uh, okay... Though I typically don't end up needing it, guess might as well prepare for the odds of running into something that might succeed in killing me, I'm fine with that," he said with a shrug, before pulling out a few hairs, not really wincing or anything at all as he held them out to him.

Ed nodded, it was a reasonable counter request. It gave her leverage over him just as much as him having her hair. Not that he would ever use it in an untoward fashion. That wasn't his style and would be against his moral code. He pulled a few vials from his pocket, offering one to Lance to place his pulled hair strands into. Then one to Runa. He proceeded to pull his own hair, just a few strands but enough that if someone wanted to cast sympathy magic on him they could. Then gave Runa the vial he put his hair into. "Thank you. I have no ill intention. I will only use this to heal you. Or if you go missing and wish to be found I can cast a tracking spell on you. Please leave me a note if you don't want to be found. I will assume no note means you've been kidnapped and require assistance."

She smiled ever so slightly - he reminded her a bit of her older brother, Forseti. "I promise you the same, master wizard," Runa said sagely, accepting the vial he had given her of his hair. She pulled a few strands of her hair, careful to make sure she got the roots, and she placed them delicately into the vial. Although, this was all giving her a bit of an idea. She didn't typical think about magic that required hairs and whatnot, as she preferred to rune cast - and lately, most of her magical uses were combative. "Perhaps we ought to go see if we can locate some of your father's hairs, my light," she told Lance.

Lance simply took the vial from Ed, put a few of his hairs in it, and handed it back to him. He turned to look at Runa when she made the comment about his dad. "...I don't know if that would really work, or if we'd be able to find anything like that in order to try and track him that way..."

"Happy to hear that." Ed smiled at Runa's promise to not use his hair maliciously. If you're able to find a hair of his I would be happy to help." Ed searched his memory if he had known that Lance's dad had been missing. There seemed to be quite a bit he didn't know about the people in the mansion.

Runa nodded morosely. She didn't like how often Lance had to search for missing loved ones - she blushed slightly, realizing she was including herself in that category, when she didn't know if Lance loved her. He was certainly fond of her, she was sure of that, but love? That was such a serious topic. She was scarcely 688 years old - she hadn't yet reached her eighth century of existence.

"...Who honestly knows at this point," he commented, looking at the ground for a moment, he knew that at least Guin knew the full story about his dad being missing, kind of hard not to know since her father was with the Avengers anyway. "You hear about that Skrull Invasion a little while back? Immediately after that he just... Disappeared, and no one knows where he went..." he explained to Ed, not sure what else to say about it.

"Hmm, that is curious." He thought about how he had read once that a far back grand-father had used the blood of a child to locate the parent, but it was a complicated spell and he didn't think he could perform it alone. It would be best to have some of Lance's father's hair or better yet some fresh blood. The fresher the better. However, considering how long ago it had been since Dr. Banner's disappearance there was unlikely to be fresh blood that Ed could use. "Yes. I would love to help. I can use blood or hair. Well technically I can even use nail clippings but never was fond of that. I should be able to track him anywhere. Though the compass I use only points in a direct line." Ed didn't even consider that Dr. Banner might not be on the planet.

Runa nodded, considering what Edus had to offer. The news that the compass could only function in one direction was a bit of a disappointment. Runa was accustomed to systems where spatial coordinates went beyond the two dimensional. She pulled her staff from her belt and Gandr expanded, until the staff was nearly as long as her. "I can see about Asgardian tracking spells, in order to give us more information - perhaps combined, we can receive information in a more three dimensional manner."

"Not entirely sure what we would really have, I mean there might be blood or whatever back at Stark Tower that's his, but I seriously doubt we'd really be able to get much... Never really thought about that sort of thing... Then again this might just be a waste of time or whatever... Might not ever be able to find him..."

Ed nodded at Runa's idea. "That's a good idea, Runa. It doesn't take much blood for the tracking spell. Though if he is really far away I might need more to recast it occasionally. It isn't a waste of time. This is a good chance for you to find him." Ed also didn't want to point out that spell wouldn't work if Dr. Banner was dead.

"Shall we go look for something then, my light?" Runa asked Lance. "We should have plenty of time to search before my parents will expect me for supper."

"Sure, guess we can go, head for Stark Tower see if there is anything there... Only place where there might even be something like that... Let's get going then if you don't mind..." he said, and since he had still been sitting on the ground during the conversation, he got up off of the ground.

"Would you like assistance?" He offered genuinely, but willing to not if Lance said no. It didn't bother Ed either way. He had other hair to collect around the mansion from the other X-men.

"I would not protest," Runa said, smiling ever so slightly. She didn't mind the idea of a chaperone. She knew that some on Asgard would have found it incredibly necessary to have one at all times, but her parents were rather lax, not caring if she spent time alone on Midgard with a mortal boy as long as she was home by curfew - which tended to be rather changeable and lax itself.

"I'm fine with it," Lance said with a slight smile, "Any help I can get would be useful... The Avengers have been keeping an eye out but they haven't found anything still..." With those words, Runa was able to teleport them to Stark Tower. Lance instantly headed towards the lab area, and once he entered the area started going through things. Eventually, he found something that might be helpful as he pulled out what looked like a vial of blood of some sort. "Tony tends to have blood from all of the Avengers, but considering how often my dad tended to run tests on his own blood, figured there would be some here anyway... Though it probably isn't as fresh or whatever that you were wanting for the spell Ed."

"I've used dry blood before. It is just ideal to be fresh. And if it is still liquid that's even better. I can't say I've used old liquid blood before. That's why I asked for hair from. Everyone just makes for the cleanest spell." He explained. He hadn't talked to many people outside his family about their magic before. "Lead the way. I've only been here the once."

"I can reduce the age of the blood, worry not, Master Wizard," Runa assured Edus. It would be as simple as stating a lie and then having one of her companions reject the claim. She didn't imagine it would interfere with the process of Edus' magic, but she was planning on ideally splitting the portions into two so that way one of them wouldn't be tampered with just in case.

"Well, let's hope it works," Lance responded, handing the vial of blood over. "Just be careful, it technically is radioactive I'm pretty sure..."

Ed nodded. He was a bit nervous about the radioactivity. But it should be mild enough that it wouldn't hurt him. As long as he didn't get exposed for too long. He poured a couple of drops onto a compass and said a few words. An orange glow emanated from his hands the compass. He let it lay flat and stared at it confused, and a bit of worry, as the compass spun uncontrollably before flipping on its edge and the red north pin of the compass pointed straight up into the sky. "Oh...I believe you haven't found your father because he is in space."

"Do you have anything more specific than that?" Runa asked. Space was a very large place - it wasn't much of a location. There were millions if not billions of planets, teeming with life, and they had only eliminated one planet in particular so far (Midgard). "Such as what territory? Perhaps the Shi'ar, Kree, Skrull, or Cotati Empires? Or the Nova Corps?"

"Guin and I could build something that might be able to help track him... But honestly, that does explain a lot, no one has even heard from him, and how he got there I don't know... Remember Runa, Ed already said that he might not get anything too specific... But at least that's a place to start... How do you two feel about going to space?"

Andy's jaw dropped when Glimpse drove her fist at super speed into Tarot's head. They were doomed. SHIELD watched. There was nothing to say, Havok said enough. Sapphire protected them and then Veil made them invisible again. A power Andy would have loved to have had while she lived on the road. Maybe there would be more people alive who weren't because of her. She didn't blame Glimpse for killing, sometimes it happened. She just was surprised, surprised she had done it in front of SHIELD especially.

She followed the group until they couldn't travel anymore. And whispered when Stareyes said she could carry her on her back and maybe two more. "If you think you can. I'm pretty small." When Stareyes affirmed Andy climbed onto her back. Putting her right arm over her shoulder and her left under her arm. It would keep Andy from strangling her if something went wrong. Andy was a bit nervous about this. She had never flown before.

Ed smirked listening to the bickering of Pietro and Wanda. It was reassuring in a strange sort of way. But it also hurt. The pair of them were twins just like he and his own sister. He hoped for their sake neither outlived the other. The suffering they would feel would be insurmountable. He looked over the group. The physical wounds healed.

He was concerned about the mental anguish some of them would experience. Especially Klara and Runa. The pair of them had been controlled. The type of magic used on them was forbidden among his family. The story of a cousin who had used mind magic and controlled people to do his bidding had been the childhood boogie man for his family. The terrible parts of the tale emphasized until none of the children would dare do mind magic. The strict laws in his family were to keep them in check. Before Thanos destroyed Cardiff with most of his family there was a tribunal and a few of the family had even been executed over the years for breaking the family laws. Now they were unenforcible. There were only a handful of men left in the family. He drew a slow breath. Bringing himself back to Liberty Island. He didn't want to think of his family's tragedy.

Ed forced a smile nodding at the thanks for the healing. It was the least he could do.

Location: Camelot: Sewers (again)
Skills: Bow Hunting, boxing

Rose hoped they wouldn't be discovered, but unfortunately, they were. She loosed her arrow and it stuck into one of the guard's shoulder. She was okay with that. She didn't actually want to hurt any of the guards. Chaos erupted though as the group started fighting the guards. She was capable of close-quarter fighting, she just preferred her bow.

Rose knocked a second arrow and shot at a guard's leg, she was trying to keep her attacks as non-lethal as possible. Yeah they were enemies they were fighting but she didn't want murder on her conscience. Her arrow missed and a guard tackled her to the ground. Red kicked the guy. Rose tried to punch him but failed...three times. She was looking like a fool and she hated that. Her mom wasn't going to have any faith in her being able to take care of herself now.

"You are certifiably insane!" Colby said, but kept surprisingly still while Rosalia had the knife out and near his hand. He wasn't about to pull and make her slip. Thankfully, Merlin seemed to see some reason. And made the handcuffs disappear. The dog went for Colby, grabbing his leg and biting down hard. It hurt like hell. Colby yelped and then out of reflex hissed.

He didn't like dogs, and this wasn't helping the situation any. He wanted to push the dog off of him, but he couldn't bear to hurt an animal even if it was actively hurting him. "Get your dang dog." He told Rosalia. Hissing again hoping that would get the dog to let go. The others needed to get here so they could leave this damn city.

Andy was torn between going with Madalyn to get the gem and records or waiting. She decided to wait though because she didn't want to leave Arthur alone any longer than necessary. She did tense when Madalyn said that Hecate was her mother. Andy gave Arthur a side glance trying to gauge if he was okay. Would he want to be around her? Rebecca was also a child of Hecate. She wondered what it would have been like for the two to meet. Would they have gotten along as sisters? Or would the divide or Roman and Greek get in the way? Or would Rebecca's general...creepiness have gotten in the way? It was hard to tell.

The group was starting to disperse. People going off in their separate directions. She looked to Arthur and said quietly. "I've got your back." They fought well together. She was going to make sure they stuck together to make sure he didn't lose anyone else as best she could.

Em took a few deep breaths. "The madness in that place is like a miasma." She told Marco. "It feels...alive." She didn't know how to explain it, how it twisted and turned and would not allow itself to be dormant for long. "I don't trust it." She said, wildly understating how she felt.

"Whatever you do Waverly don't wander off." She wanted to warn Demi about how dangerous that place could be. How the Labyrinth was...hungry. She didn't want to say it so Waverly could hear her though. Didn't want to scare the girl any more than was necessary. She just had to stay close to camp then things could be figured out. But they had a war coming to them they had to protect their home. Unfortunately, that meant Waverly would have to wait.

"Please lead the way." Niah said and started to follow Alannah out of the Senate house. She was thankful that Nancy had been able to muster a bit of a grin back at her, though she could tell how hard it had been. Niah touched the bracelet that was the reminder of all the three of them had been through to get to this point.

"Don't take off without me." Andy said.

Niah checked her armor as they started walking to the Greek ship. She had no desire for something to go wrong with her armor while in the air. That was a death sentence for her. The ship was, she had to admit, impressively built. She wondered how it flew. Maybe Alannah would give her some information on that. She had a decent grasp of how magic worked, but nowhere near as good of an understanding as Mads.

Niah grinned as Ryanor called her psychotic. It was really funny actually and she had to try her best to not laugh. "I'm Niah Bautista. Born in 1997 and raised in the Philippines." She told the truth of this version of reality the version that until the fight with the demon bear she hadn't remembered. "My sister is Dalisy wanted by SHIELD for acts of terrorism, and for what is probably completely legitimate reasons on Doctor Strange's watch list. I am a mutant, product of Phase Three." She said. All details anyone part of the Secret Warriors would know, and not a single lie.

She was sad about Maria and hoped that the Skrulls were taking prisoners. It would be worth having to deal with Flynn again if Maria returned to them. She removed her glove and touched Cass's clothing, her power didn't work on people it had to be objects. She got a flash of Cass kissing Matt, she had known they had gone on a date, but really gross. There were a few other flashes of things that confirmed that Cass's clothes hadn't been summoned or previously belonged to a green-blooded alien trying to take over the world. "Cass is good." Niah just caught Matt's shoulder release a little tension.

Matt had a conundrum as the group was telling truths about themselves. If he said he was born 'Matt Moss' it would be a lie. Did he out himself like that? Part of the group had to know. At least Cass did. He decided to word it carefully. "My name is Matthew Moss. I was born in London in 1991. I joined the SBS where I encountered the Terrigian Mists and found out I was inhuman. During the fight on the moon I was exposed again but thankfully didn't die." He figured he'd be kind to Oliver and not say his exposure was Oliver's fault.

He felt better knowing that both Niah and Raynor had cleared Cass. He held out his jacket for Niah who when she touched it she made the same face she had when she saw Cass's memories. "Seriously how much do you guys make out?" Matt rolled his eyes. "Yeah he's not a Skrull. I was gonna say he's human, but he's actually a descendent of aliens that lived on the moon so that wouldn't be true."

"What has gotten into you?' He asked Niah she was never like this.

"General anesthesia." Niah said with a grin. "They really wouldn't have discharged me if Dr. Larson hadn't been there. Who's next?"

Loki was down and Klara was talking like her normal self again. Rambling. It was nice to hear actually. Reassurance that she was okay. He had felt bad every time one of their group had hurt her or Runa knowing that underneath the spell they wouldn't have wanted to hurt the group. They had come here to defeat Loki just as much as the X-Men had.

"Klara, make sure there is no impending tsunami to worry about." Ed said and dropped his concentration on the shield spell around the civilians. He was going to need his full concentration for his next trick. He had seen his sister do it a few times when there were a lot of people hurt. He frowned at the memory.

Then made his way around the group gathering a bit of blood from each injured person and set about his task of healing all of them. He paused at Neil confused. He had been stabbed, fallen at the same time Mary had, but he couldn't get to both of them, and here Neil was standing looking healthy. "You okay?" He asked waiting for the answer and set back to his task.

A soft orange glow emanating from Ed's hands spread out and touched each person that he had collected blood from. They would feel their wounds knitting back together and when the orange glow disappeared they all felt amazing. Ed blinked. That had been easily the most powerful healing spell he had ever cast. They all looked so much better too. He smiled, trying to hide his surprise.

The fire wasn't the type that pulled fear deep from inside Andy. It was green, but it was still like a blast furnace. Veil protected them with her shield. Andy stood up from the section of the wall that she had hit. Taking slow breaths to make sure she hadn't broken a rib or something. Everything hurt, but not in a broken bone sort of way. She looked for the girl with the Tarot deck again and was considering her next move. There was no way she'd get up to the dragon and punch it, which left her with just the people on the ground.

But whatever her next move was going to be didn't matter. S.H.I.E.L.D. arrived. Her heart started racing. Andy had gotten into plenty of scrapes and mild trouble. She had been in and out of foster homes and even a special school, but never in real trouble. Never in go to jail...or worse trouble. Well, there had been that one incident, but no one had blamed her for that except herself.

Would they send her into some other foster program? Or would it be worse? Would she go to jail? Mutant jail at that. She heard rumors. She knew about mutant supermax. Andy didn't want to go there. Her hands were shaking. She forced them into fists trying to keep the shaking down. And looked to Veil. Their next move was up to her. With the guns trained on them she didn't want to move to try to destroy the vaccines, she could only hope that the vaccines just wouldn't be trusted considering what happened in that room. If shooting started she planned to duck under one of the metal tables in the room. It was the best bet for getting to safety.

Rose smiled. The touch on her back was reassuring and her mother's voice was pleasant. It was nice to hear it from her mother that she knew she was okay. That she cared. Even through everything her mom had cared. She hadn't realized before seeing her mom how much she needed that.

When Hansel told them to hide she slipped into the aclove with the others. She listened to the guards coming, notching an arrow. It would be a little difficult to get an arrow off in the crowded space. Rose was used to having a lot more open space and she didn't want to hit any of the group.
If Rose has a clear shot she is going to shoot one of the guards if they notice the group. (Bow hunting)

Rosalia fought back. Colby had expected that so he had been able to keep her from getting him too bad. Though she did pin him. There was a whole lot going on. With the dog barking and people yelling. "Oh shut up no one gives a shit." He was about to try to get out of the pin when Merlin came over and put him in a pair of handcuffs with Rosalia.

"Hell no!" He yelled. "I refuse to be handcuffed to her." He said. He knew the basics of getting out of handcuffs. It was a simple trick, just involved dislocation of your thumb. The handcuffs were on tight so he was unable to do it. He was thankful for the time he had studied normal magic. Now he just had to spend the time to learn magic in this world.

Niah nodded. A lot. She nodded at Dr. Larson telling her to not share about the multi-verse experience she had with others. She nodded at the explanation about why the Skrulls were trying to take over Earth. Would that make it a strategic place for the Kree too? Would Earth become a battleground between two highly advanced races? They had to keep that from happening. Humans weren't really ready for an outside threat like that. Heck, they were barely able to handle the differences of mutants and inhuman from themselves. She did not want to think about what humanity would be like if they realized there were body snatchers out and about.

When the ship landed and the ramp lowered Niah said, "Thank you. I'll happily talk with you more about my experiences sometime." Then she went down the ramp. She spotted the gathering group and waved. Rolling the wheelchair that was sometimes a leg carefully. "Hey Sparky! You found Raynor. Hi Amelia, turns out things were totally funky, and jumping out a window probably was the sanest thing you could do." She was clearly still a little high. She waved at everyone else joining them.

"Raynor did getting kidnapped by shapeshifting-aliens get the chip off your shoulder?" She asked, grinning, showing that she was mostly joking with Raynor. Somewhere between three realities, her sister being a multi-dimensional terrorist, and demon bear Niah seemed to stop being so tense, or maybe it was the drugs in her system. It was probably the drugs in her system, which were painfully starting to wear off. "We fought a demon bear that fed off fear and it ruined my leg." She said and held up the stump for the others to see.

"Where is Maria? Oh and Sparky you've got to check out this wheelchair later. You're gonna love it. It is cooler than any sci-fi book I've ever read." Niah had honestly not read much recently, her life was more sci-fi than she could handle. Escaping into a sci-fi novel was not what she considered fun at the time being.

Matt hadn't unbuckled at any point after they took off again. He had come to the decision that he wouldn't ever be unbuckled when Hawkeye was flying again. Even though he hadn't been tossed around the ship he had seen enough of the others do just that. When the ship finally landed he was happy to be getting off. "You might not need a vacation, but I think I'm going to take one. Go home and just enjoy some hockey or something." He told Bonnie grinning, before leaving the ship after Cass.

Niah was rambling at Sparky as he walked up. Cass was already there. It was dumb but he had liked her kissing his hand. It had been a sweet tender moment when right now nothing seemed so vulnerable. He hoped he hadn't been wrong to decide to trust the group completely. He hoped that Cass was really Cass and hadn't been replaced, he wouldn't want to have happy memories like that with someone who wasn't his girlfriend.
