Countess Rivianne

"Welcome to my home. I hope you have the finest stay for this evening's party."
The youngest daughter of the Rivianne family who somehow became the master of their household after the mysterious vanishment of her close relatives.
@The 42nd Gecko

You aren't getting what I mean. What I don't want is people making things up where there should be nothing for the purposes of the story. Don't add unnecessary complication where it's not needed. A narrative Occam Razor.

There are characters like the Celestial Spirits and Eldritch Beings that are certainly linked to space, but it's mostly in a metaphysical way. What I tried to say is that, unless you go really out of your way looking for Yog-Sothoth's bedroom, all that miyu would find there is the same thing that astronomers find when they look at the sky, huge balls of gas and dust floating away in an endless vacuum.
@KoL
Considering the vast technology that the Machina have shown (including wipe-people-out-of-time-and-space) wouldn't it make sense for FTL travel to be old news for them? I mean, they've somehow managed to completely ignore traditional physics to construct giant mecha suits with laser guns, they should be able to reach at least close to lightspeed with advanced vessels.

The sword Eos used wasn't Machina technology at all. Only the act of she recreating it was, but the weapon itself is a far more complex entity.

I never said that they can't have it. What I've said is that Miyu can't possibly have got her hands on this kind of technology, since the last battle took place in a weapons factory and the and, interstellar weapons are pointless on the Nexus (as is FTL travel technology).

To the Triumvirate, there's nothing worth of interest out there, outside of the main world where they inhabit and fight. Thus, even if the Machina have this kind of technology, it would not be in a place like KC-00032 or be readily available to steal without consequences.

I really don't get the amount of effort put on trying to subvert the setting, since this isn't a space opera RP. After all, you all don't suppose that we will go out of our way to narrate this kind of stuff that we have no interest in/is completely outside of the story's subject, do you?

Spin-offs are best handled as their own thing.

However, if you really have any big interest in space exploration, ask @Lonewolf685. He has a "character" in reserve that might become very interesting for you. In fact, this is potentially the best chance to introduce it to the RP in a relevant way. I'm sure that you guys can work something out.
Alrighty, so with Katlin accepted, when/what/where is everyone and what's going on? I've been reading here and there in the first few pages, but ya know. Time and all that.

Well, I have a planned idea for her to get in. I'll fill you win tomorrow.
What is the weather like outside? I should probably have asked before sending Althea out there.

Cold, but not necessarily harsh at this time. It's probably a bit cloudy and, if Althea knows even a bit about weather in high mountain ranges, she will know to not trust it since mood swings at the weather in this kind of environment are kind of common. Also, I should add that the air is rarefied since the fort is somewhere high in the mountains.

But, if she doesn't strays too far, she'll not be in danger.
By the way, we haven't heard any words about when to move forward. If there's no objections, the next battle will begin within short order.

Try to say something if you want more time.
@KoL Miyu's just desperately trying to find something to continue living for. Figuring out the stars without Ciel's help is her current goal.

If you're saying she'll never figure that out within the lifespan of the roleplay, then, given no one interrupts her, she's out of the roleplay too.

Which leaves me with Alexi, who gets up to decently fun shenanigans.

Even though I haven't denied it (I was just explaining how things are up there), that's an unreasonable goal, specially since Miyu has no astronomical knowledge worth of note, even if she may be well-versed in physics and math, she still needs to learn astronomy by herself.

If you wanted to mean that she can go to another star she'll need more tech to do it. Nothing on KC-00032 has ever been said to be able to reach relativistic speeds, specially (spare parts she picked here and there). I'm not really being unreasonable here.

Miyu can do her thing, but it has to have at least some basis.

Character Sheet Example
Name: Charles Alexander Flamel.

Age: 67 years.

Appearance: Despite Charles' age, his years have in fact been very well lived. An almost six feet tall, finely dressed gentleman of chiseled features and stout built, whose eyes betray a keen insight born of a long life.

Backstory: Charles was born and spent the majority of his childhood at his family's hometown at the Northwestern regions of the country. They led a bourgeois lifestyle, dealing with banking, whose primary clientele were their region's many mid-sized shipyards, propelled by the extensive whaling industry of the northern seas. It was on this lively, yet cold region that Charles was raised and —up to this day— it keeps on being the only place he considers himself at home. In fact, his favorite entertainment is sitting by his loft's ample windows and read a good book with the crashing of waves and the rambunctious cries of the port workers as the only background noises.

Regardless of his passion for his homeland, once Charles came of age, he left everything behind and went to study at a prestigious college, dedicating his following years to the subjects of Law and Accounting. A few years into his education, Charles decided that he needed to broaden his horizons even further. For such, he enlisted in the military where he served for the next decade and a half, joining many campaigns on the Southern and Eastern overseas colonies.

Once his time in the military came to an end, Charles returned back to his hometown: An accomplished man. These days he dedicates most of his time to transcribe his journals into an autobiography as well as acquiring rare volumes for his library, the testament of his existence that Charles seeks to leave behind once he expires.

Inventory: A brass pocket watch, previously owned by his father and grandfather.

A six-shot, single-action military revolver which has been with him ever since his time in the army.

Twelve spare cartridges.

A pair of bifocal eyeglasses.

A cane topped with a brass owl effigy.

Intro/Sample Post: "Hmm, I must really be getting old," those were the fist words to leave Charles' mouth as he exited his coach. The trip from his homeland to the old mansion was indeed a taxing one, and not just because Charles was starting to feel the weight of his age pushing him further and further close to the grave. The weather itself was terrible with chilling rain and howling winds. He had seen worse in his youth, far worse, yet Charles was indeed getting too old for this type of journey.

"That does not mind, anyway. If the volumes which I seek can be found on the Rivianne's library, I'll have not lost my time," the gray-haired man said to himself before rapping at the engraved mahogany doors. Yet, as soon as the doors were answered and he stepped inside the main hall, greeting a peculiar scar-faced maid... everything went black. The one thing Charles wouldn't forget is the ringing in his ears, almost as if his skull were being drilled into.

Countess Rivianne

Hermiana

"Your memories are the keys that shall free you."

[Industrial Age/Victorian] [Psychological] [Lovecraftian] [Horror]

"Come, join me on this night. Dance under the Moon: Celebrate Their awakening."
Countess Rivianne

Somewhere in the countryside of a dark nation in the brink of great revolution lies a city, like many others of its kind, so small to the point that it would have being forgotten long ago where it not for its rich coal mines, prime fuel for the factories of a rising Industrial Age. In this city, so small that it may as well be still called a village, there exists an old mansion over a steep hill overlooking a lake so still that even the smallest stone cast on its waters is said to cause ripples noticeable through all of it.

This mansion is known as the Rivianne Solaire, owned for generations by the Rivianne family, the lords in charge of the valley where both the city and its coal mines are located. In recent years, about as soon as the coal began to take an ever expanding share of the local economy, the owners of this sinister state have been seen outside of their residence with little frequency. In fact, no one has seen the Count Gregorius Rivianne, his wife, children; any who ever went to the Rivianne Solaire has come back the same —if they come back at all, for the whole of the past two years.

In face of such a story, it's no wonder that tales saying that the old mansion is cursed began to spread around the region. However, they are widely disbelieved by the local populace, since their whole living depends on the mines owned by the Riviannes, they can't afford to spread ill rumor about their lords. Food, drink and mail still reach the mansion, and life keeps going as normal.

Not very long after the Riviannes retirement into isolation, a legend —more consistent than any of the others— began to circulate among the locals. It's said that during the New Moon, any who find their way to the old mansion and manages to make it back will be granted riches an power far beyond anything they can imagine. Other stories say that such people are consumed by an unfathomable darkness. This and many other rumors hang over the Rivianne Solaire, tarnishing it as much as the ashes and fumes of the coal which became the city's black blood.

"Truth's in the eye of the beholder. Are you ready to your own?"
Introduction
Welcome to the Rivianne Solaire, a place where the limits of your sanity, that which make you yourself, shall be tested. Here, every shadow holds unspeakable dark secrets, but not everything you see or hear may be true.

Through the force of Fate, a group of people from different walks of life found their way to the cursed mansion during a stormy night of the New Moon. Stranded there, with no way to go back to the nearby city until the weather gets better, their minds began to play tricks on them —or so it looked— strange sounds and lights and voices coming from nowhere.

It's just a matter of time until they began to lose their very minds, their sense of self and memories vanishing as if they were being sucked through the great proboscis of an horrifyingly enlarged insect. How long will they be able to endure while searching for a way out of this land of nightmares?
Characters
The characters of this story can be normal people of all walks of life, from a humble farmer or mine worker, to a soldier, nobleman, or priest. The sting binding them to a common fate is the fact that, somehow, each of them found their way to the Rivianne Solaire, passing out just as they arrived. Once they recovered their senses, they found themselves sitting at by the table at the mansion's dinning room, before them laid a great supper —partially eaten— while a powerful storm trapped them inside the sinister mansion.

The story starts with the characters being introduced to their host as they learn the dark truth of what waits for them. And, from there on, their fate is in their hands.
