Mark Hansen leaned against an aging truck, his hands cupping a warm mug of black coffee. To his left and right, a few other Hvassians stood, drinking their own share of the coffee's pot.

He had already been up for a few hours prior, still unable to break the workman habit of an early morning even in the face of the apocalypse. Before, it had simply been to pay off monthly bills; to earn a yearly salary. But now, his morning routine had a greater purpose: to ensure his family's survival. How could they improve the walls? What were they to do about rationing? More importantly, what if the fog came back? Such concerns regularly floated about in the back of his head.

His thoughts harkened back twenty-odd years ago, back to when he was a draftee at the tail-end of the Vietnam War. Some of his experience, he felt, was still applicable, although they weren't dealing with an opposing army nor were they were a trained group of GIs. No, the town of Hvass was dealing with something far, far more dangerous; something he doubted the small rabble left in Hvass could survive. Had Copeland, the local pastor, been here, Mark figured he'd tell him to cast these worries away; to put his faith in God, that He would save them all. But whatever speech Copeland would've had prepared wouldn't have mattered. His faith in a higher power had long since been shaken. For all Mark knew, it seemed God had already cast them into the fires of Hell.

"Bring out your dead! BRING OUT YOUR DEAD!" A cyclist—Maddox, he and the rest of Hvass had recently come to known for his antics—shouted, interrupting Mark's solemn coffee drinking as he rode past the group and towards the crowd now leaving the furniture store. Almost immediately, Mark shook his head in disapproval, like a parent who had just watched his kid do something absolutely stupid.

"Kid's got some screws loose." He commented, taking a sip of his coffee. "One of these days his humor is going to get that smirk knocked off his face by the wrong person."

I think I'm going to go ahead and pull out. Rolling a little too slow. I've already got a slow RP that I am fond of and would rather fill my card with something a little more active to keep me entertained in between. Was hoping this was going to be it with the 1 or 2 posts per week rule, but that rule is clearly out the window, lol (I suppose there is a disclaimer noting such could be the case).

No hard feelings! It's a really interesting concept that I think you all can have a lot of fun with. Good luck and I hope it's a blast!!

My apologies; been terribly busy lately and have been trying to fit my various RP commitments when I can. Currently dealing with the fallout of my grandfather dying to covid (getting his body home from another state, funeral services, etc.) as well trying to reschedule a five odd hour trip I was supposed to take this weekend (more around 10-11 hours in total back and forth).

1) I see your JP references.

2) Please, PLEASE change your font to the default font on the site. I am struggling to read it without squinting. Even brought it up to some of my friends and they're also having issue reading the sheet. Once that's done I'll give it a once over again so I can make sure I didn't miss anything.

The Status Bar

@A Ticklish Ralt Well, there is nothing stoppimg you from creating a "chat room" type thread in that case. There used to be a couple of those floating around but I haven't seen one in months, probably a few years, really.

Wait! I HAVE A PERFECT SOULTION! Why don't we make the status bar only for... well status's I guess and make a 'social bar' above it that can be used in the way we all currently use the status bar. To be honest, since being here I just assumed the status bar was just like a live chat thingy, hahaha, that's how I use it and was the thing that made me join up in the first place as it felt like a community here!

It technically isn't a live chat. People just use it that way. We used to have a chat room on the guild, but that's been replaced by discord.

The Status Bar

This is just a repurposed "does the discord hurt/help the community?" argument, which means we'll be going in circles here because nothing will fundamentally change on the guild but:

Personally, I don't think removing the status bar is worth it given that unregistered/newbie members can browse threads too and see everything that goes on there. The same people who post there post on the forum, after all. Hiding it automatically? Maybe, that could work if people are worried the status bar is scaring people away.

Alternatively and to better fit your own opinions, it could—and this would require Mahz to show up again—be updated like RPN has their statuses. Their status are profile-only that people can reply to, which would remove the concerns of entire convos being had on the status bar. And if people really miss the traditional status bar, you can still see a list of new/recent statuses, it just isn't on the front page.

@Izurich@Yankee vent threads are perma banned on RPG. They have been dor several years by now. Whenever one happens the mods auto lock it as soon as one is able.
