With regards to the discussion, I'm going to vote on a tech-based cause. Mainly because Crescent City seems to be a hub for Hyperhumans and the like. So given that there are organizations, namely the Constantine's Guard, who oppose the Hyperhumans and have been working on new weaponry to level the playing field, it wouldn't be a terrible plan to create technology that could literally alter the playing field in their fight against Hyperhumanity similarly to how the Hypes can.

I'd be disappointed if it were some cliché child-prodigy Hyperhuman or something.

I think it's two-part. I think the storm is symbolizing the coming storm approaching that's gonna cause all our characters to get together and interact and be one, but I also think there's something darker, something that realizes this and the storm is just the first step. Possibly a warning.

Some interesting answers here. After the first three secondary plots wrap up, I'll be updating the IC as the events take their toll on the main story and some clues for the mystery will be dropped.

Thanks for the help, I think I know what kind of character I want to make. I did have a question though. @Lord Wraith Since the Venari are all but gone, does that mean there's no current council and Guild Master active?

There would still be some semblance of a council left just not like it was during the glory days. The Venari are scattered and broken up into much smaller guilds across the globe now. Since becoming a Venari pretty much relies on having a mentor and a scribe, there would likely be some sort of base supporting any current Venari. It might just be a council of three people instead a council of twelve.
