Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

The engine was never turned off. The problem is that the ship was out of control. Attitude control is shot, and the ship's weight is uneven. If she turns off the engines, it at least won't try and wrest itself out of his grip anymore.

He, she. We. Tea.

Zaaaarkuuun, let's wrap the thing up already.

Fleo is in the guild seating at the Arena, I assume?

Nope. She's above it on a pillar of her own dust.

Were you even talking to me earlier? It seems like you were addressing Raven.
Lugu, we are going in comically opposite directions, here.

She'd run into the cloaked woman we all know is Regan in the control room.

Who and what? Xyster was never aboard the ship. She's talking to people from Frenzy Plant, in the park where Salvoy's setting the ship.
Hyun Sasithom– Frenzy Camp

As far away as they were, the events surrounding the plummeting airship did not interrupt combat practice. The Frenzy Plant soldiers continued training at a good pace, experimenting with different weapon types. When Zander brought out a war hammer, several of the trainees were surprised to see the hammerhead wasn't much larger than a candlestick. On this, the Ruby Knight was happy to elaborate. ”Hmm, yes. From all of the giant, ridiculous weapons you see all the time, you'd never expect actual hammers used in war to be so small. The principle is simple: for people without the use of physics-defying magic, weapons have to follow certain rules. Even for the mightiest men, huge weapons are impractical because as size increases, volume increases faster than surface area. In other words, a big hammer may deal twice the damage of a small one, but it takes three or four times the strength to swing. The workaround is to use less dense materials, but that lowers damage capability. So why use a huge, clumsy, light weapon when you can have a much denser smaller one? That smaller the point of impact, the more concentrated the force. On a giant mallet, the force is so spread out that even if you could hit, you'd be knocking the opponent back more than crushing their vitals. Here, take it. Get a feel for its heft.”

Even Hyun accepted a hammer, if only for a moment. Everyone else experimented a little with the hammer on training dummies. It was obvious that blunt weapons were the way to go against armored opponents. The swordswoman was, however, the first to pipe up with a new question. Evidently, being humbled again even after her power boost and attitude change had brought her back down to earth. ”Zan...uh, sir. How do you deal with a person larger and heavier than you, who attempts to grapple?”

After setting two of the other trainees to practice parrying, the Ruby Knight considered the question. ”I know you are referring to Damian. You did well, actually, to turn his own force against him. All muscles are bound by the same rules. A grip may be unbreakable in one position, but if you're able to twist a foe's wrist in a certain way, you can slip right out. If you're lighter and faster, you can reposition more quickly...”

”Yes, yes, I know. Sir.” Hyun interrupted. ”Holds were taught in my country. I mean holds like what he used to...to finish me off.”

Frowning, Zander thought about reprimanding her for interrupting, but knew that this was a touchy subject. In the end he decided to answer her. ”Hm. I know you're too familiar with the nature of physical ability to get mad at me for saying this, but grappling like that is something women typically have a hard time counteracting. It is why in professional wrestling women and men do not often compete. Best course of action would be to never let him get too close. Are you familiar with the concept of spring-heeling?” She was not. ”Well, if you lift up one foot off the ground slightly, you can spring off your back to take a very quick step in any direction. Since it doesn't disrupt your balance, you can immediately change direction for another step. Use that to backpedal out of the way if a man you're fighting attempts to grab you.”

Hyun nodded sagaciously. ”Or to move to the side. If his hands are up, his ribcage is unprotected, and most armor has a weakspot below the shoulder for arm mobility.”

”If I may say so, it seems like you're really thinking about Damian. Are you planning to fight him again?”

An unexpected question. Hyun guessed she hadn't really thought about it. Now that she considered it, a rematch was mandated by her deep-seated principle of honor. That, however, was an dilemma in and of itself. ”I...well. In my mind I had already decided that I'd have to fight him again. That was honor speaking for me. Hmm...” She paused, thinking. When she seated herself on the grass, legs crossed, Zander joined her, taking his helmet off to see more personable. “Back in Seven, I could afford to live by that code, but here I can choose for myself. I'm not honor-bound to beat him or die trying. Beating him wouldn't even be much of an accomplishment after losing once. Even so...I think I will challenge him again. Perhaps on the last day of the games. It will help clear my head of any lingering demons.” Her eyes rested on the trainees, who had stopped to listen to her. They flinched guiltily, causing something strange to happen. Hyun cracked a smile—not a wry one, or the crazy one that she'd worn when she trumped Zander earlier. This one was true. ”In the mean time, I think I will spend some more time with you all. Now that I will never get my kingdom back, you are the people I care most for. I think I knew this a while ago, but I couldn't spare enough focus to realize it.”

She stood up and grabbed a warhammer, flexing her fingers around the handle. ”Enough lollygagging. We all have a lot more to learn, and only so many hours in the day.”

Xyster - Crocus Streets

@CirusArvennicus

Xyster watched, wide-eyed, as Salvoy struggled to raise the ship. After a few moments, it became clear that the task was growing less strenuous. New and lively noises from within the ship supported the theory that whatever bizarre and miraculous magical contraption enabled a boat to sail through the air had been reactivated. With his burden eased, the World began to walk forward, searching for a place to put the ship. He spotted a park in the distance and began to make his way toward it. Huge legs and a long stride made for good time, and in short order, whale, ship, and everyone on board were nearing the park in which Frenzy Plant had made its camp. Spotting the bright green tents, Xyster shouted, ”It's my mates! Put the boat down over there, whale man! You can count on our bunch to sort this out.”

Salvoy obliged, not hesitating to step on any maze creatures that got in his way. As he was walking over to a convenient patch of grass to place the ship on, Xyster jumped down from his arm to land on the ground. Naturally, she tripped, and her head flew off. Fortunately, her guildmates were on hand to retrieve it for her. ”Friends!” the head cheerfully and unnervingly exclaimed. ”I thought that everyone was supposed to get indoors for the maze? Nevermind! I brought you guys a present!” Her ribbons unraveled and lashed out around her body's hand, pulling the head back to her. Grinning, she pointed toward the ship that Salvoy was just now letting go of.

Nero the Genie – near Dragon Fang

@Caits @Invisible Man@liferusher

The news hadn't particularly surprised Nero, though he did duck out of the Time Lord's hand as soon as possible, muttering, ”No touchies.”. Chances were that the Games would be going to take advantage of the sprawling city layout sooner or later. After readjusting his shirt following Ayame's tugging, he gave the child a pat on the head before saying, ”Looks like we're in for a sweet in-guild breakfast. I'll hold you to it about those omelets, time man. I've sto...had enough hotel omelets to know that most aren't egg-xactly edible. Nyeheheh.”

Without further ado he waltzed right into the establishment. His gaze landed on a painting hanging on the wall, which depicted dogs playing poker. The dark mage shivered. ”So unnatural.” Fortunately, his nose managed to get him back on track, steering him straight toward the meal area. ”Hey, Aya. Would ya mind finding a seat? I'll grab food for ya. Whaddya want?”
So, the ship is pretty much flying again, and Salvoy doesn't need to carry it?

im sorry I think I'm just feeling a little out of it. I also don't really have the feeling like my posts are any good for some reason just like they are to plain and regular ugt

EDIT

so maybe some tips and advice can help me improve from basically anyone

Hm. It's true that on their own, what a character can do is limited. Sometimes, I just have one of mine start talking to some player character or another in hopes of spurring an interaction. If that is not an option, usually because people are devoted to their own business, I usually turn to NPCs. The world is full of people; some of them, doubtlessly, can play off your character in a way that is either interesting or developmental. Heck, it's one reason why I spent so much time making the individual people in Frenzy Plant. You might consider creating NPCs to interact with your character in a way you know would bring something out.
Ah, I see.

I'm just rather surprised that nobody else has even mentioned the airship.
@Caits@Zarkun@Lugubrious@Amaya Tamashii@Conmhara@Lmpkio@YipeeXD

Figured I'd add mentions of anyone in the audience who might be watching the fight as well as possible guild masters

Okay. Frenzy Plant's focus is elsewhere unfortunately. The only one really interested would be Fleo.

That reminds me, though I mentioned Amaya in my previous post with Fleo, there was no response.
Irish and I just finished a collab.
Xyster- Crocus Streets

Unwittingly, and in anticipation of the next obstacle to appear before her, Xyster passed Merlina right by. She continued her trek down the emptied Crocus streets, trying to put aside the vibe of loneliness that emanated from between the cracks of cobblestone. All in all, she hadn't been in the beautiful capitol of Fiore for long, but it still felt acutely wrong to see shuttered windows, unmanned carts, devoid cafes, and an overall paucity of the people that made a network of bricks and mortar into a living, breathing city. In the maze formerly known as Crocus, there was only adversity to be found, instead of the brimming and inspiring events of vestiges that the Dullahan loved. Her face betrayed a growing worry. Where were the enemies? Was something big, even bigger than one of the largest carnivores to ever live, slouching its way toward her even now?

Xyster both craved and dreaded finding an opponent that would push her to her limits. As with all users of Reaper Magic, she had a contract with the forces of death, and when it expired, so would she. The Dullahan was living on borrowed time, and the clock was ticking. That, however, wasn't the half of it.

The smile had long since vanished from her face as she powerwalked through the city, replaced by a sharp-toothed frown that made her look rather sharklike in a strangely comical way. Her roving emerald eyes took in every detail in sight, even as her concern mounted. The sense that she was doing something wrong had become a tangible presence in her mind, a stinging pain...or was that a headache? Either way, it was irritating and distracting. It did not, however, prevent her from looking up and discovering an enormous flying boat diving straight toward her. Finally! A new, wicked ear-to-ear grin appeared as she cried, ”My next opponent, at last! Prepare to meet your maker, vile contraption!” The Harvester appeared out of thin air, and she flourished it, imbuing herself with that protective black aura. Her weapon was leveled at the incoming ship, menacing enough to cause deep fear, if only her foe wasn't an inanimate object. After a moment, this realization settled in, and Xyster rolled her eyes. ”Lord, I'm such an idiot,” she moaned, banishing the Harvester, “That thing must have people on it. Probably up there for camerawork. Something went wrong. Instead of wrecking it, I'll save it! But how..?”

Well, first things first. Some elevation was needed. Xyster scrambled to the top of the nearest building, nimbly making use of a planter, the doorframe, and several windowsills. Once on the roof, she considered her options. Potentially, she could leap to the ship in-flight, grab anyone she saw, and get them to safety one by one, but that wouldn't prevent the ship from crashing into the city and causing billions of Jewel in property damage. As the image of the boat plowing through buildings and homes, potentially with people inside, flashed through her head, she winced. There would be nothing redeeming in deaths like those, and only bitter tragedy. ”No,” she muttered, thinking aloud. ”I'll have to move the ship somewhere else. But where can I put it...and how will I move it? My magic isn't suited to this.” In tune to the chaotic noises from above growing louder and more intense, so too did her state of mind. There was nothing really that she could do, personally. She needed help.”[/color]

Fortunately, Xyster wasn't the only one drawn by the calamitous spectacle. A few streets over from her, towering above most of the buildings, came the familiar gigantic shape of Salvoy the World, with his middle-aged summoner Nash sitting on his shoulder. From the looks of it, the dynamic duo had already seen the careening airship and decided to step in and stop it themselves. They certainly had the brute strength to stop the out-of-control vehicle, if such a thing could be done. Still, their arrival ticked Xyster off somewhat. Saving the ship had been her idea! ”Hey!” No response. Xyster began to run across the roof, every step threatening to send loose shingles flying, and leaped across a narrow back lot to another roof. When she was in range, she called to the pair again, and this time they turned toward her expecting a fight. ”Hey! I know we're opponents, but we ought to work together to save that airship. Both our guilds were scoring low yesterday; if we do something cool, we might both come out of this event with great scores!” Xyster was very pleased with her line of reasoning.

Nash was convinced. ”Fine by me. But we've got a problem. Salvoy can carry the airship, but it's coming in too fast for him to grab. Do you have a way to slow it down?” His eyes were on the ship—there wasn't much time left.

Putting a finger to her chin, the Dullahan considered. ”Keheheh, I'll see what I can do. But I need to be in a certain mood to do it; prerequisites and all that. Give me the best insult you've got, sailor!”

Shrugging, Nash obliged. He did, however, add in a clever bit of his own. ”That ship thinks you're a bony freak and your parents never loved you!”

A sudden fire sparked in Xyster's eyes. Truth to be told, it was difficult to tell if she was angry or laughing. ”You take that baaaaaaaaack!” She rose off the ground, floating like a marionette, silhouetted in a purplish umbra. ”Balberith!” A wave of purplish force blasted forward and intercepted the crashing ship seconds before it would have bulled into Crocus. Immediately the entire vehicle was wreathed in a deathly corona, and for three seconds it moved slower than tar, as if caught in a dreamlike trance. In that moment, Salvoy jogged forward, reached up, and grabbed the bottom of the hull. Grunting in effort, he said, ”Where....do I put it?” Xyster climbed up the giant whale and onto one of his arms, looking for a safe place. She appeared quite recovered from her momentary...whatever that was. ”Hmm...find a park or something, or use the moat thing that's around the mountain with the Doma Flau!”

Salvoy groaned and began to walk. The ship, now freed of the worn-off, Balberith suspension, was exceedingly heavy. ”I don't know if I can make it that far...too heavy! I feel like the weight of the World's on my shoulders.” He grinned as he plodded forward. Even in dire times he could pull out a joke. ”Seriously though...if we run into any more elephants, we might be...done for. We might...need more help.”

not sure where at any point i was crapping on his opinion, or adopted anything but a "wait and see" attitude, but i really didn't even want krayz to let this continue, so

whatever

let it go bruh it's too late for us

Aw, I don't want you to feel too down. I was getting onto Here more than you; you did keep it businesslike. Technically, if you were arguing in favor of the Japanese dub to be objectively better, you were proven correct, so there's that at least.
