Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

Yeah, I think I'd be fine in joining Midnight Squad, however, it seems like most of the team members haven't really been online very much. Akashi Mayhiro hasn't posted in the RP for 25 days and Trevor1001 in 28 days. Really, Abillioncats is the only one that has been able to stay on the RP, but he/she has no teammates for Violet to work with! So, I'm not sure if they took a break or something else, but I'm still up for Valin joining. However, can someone tell me a quick summary on Midnight Squad? Are they actually apart of the school? Are they trying to kill any specific team? Do they work for some big bad corporation or criminal organization? Stuff like that.

The both of them are still active, actually, they're just working on a collaborative sparring match in PMs. I'll get you in on the collab so you can talk to them and see what's up.
Isn't the new contest a lot like Contest#8? We alteady had a convert your character to a fighter game.

And three people participated in it, including a person who's now gone and not including you. I specifically acknowledged that there was already a contest like it, but this one is different. It deals somewhat more with a character's personality and a little less on the gameplay.

So, while I'm working on one post, I might as well ask if I need to change anything or even have any room for me? I saw the debate of my character and it seemed that one of the Co-GM's had a disagreement with him. So, any suggestions? Also, sorry for causing a debate, didn't mean for that to happen.

It seemed fine to me. Your character seemed a fit for joining the antagonist team, right?
Can planned upgrades be used in Instant Kill moves

Yes, Rule of Cool is in effect.

@Lugubrious

Am I allowed to make win quotes for every character in Beacon Academy? :o (or is it only four?)

If you want to you ca, but I'll be choosing only the four most representative of your character/best to judge off of.
Saw the contest, was completely ready to start going full Tekken with it.

>3 Special Moves
>One Hit Kill
>V Trigger

Well crap. No more going full Tekken.

Tekken doesn't have any interesting types of moves tho
@Contest:

I feel like we've been here before, have we been here before?

It's mostly new stuff.
New contest up. I expect much participation.

Contest #19 – Get Ready for the Next Battle

Judge: The main man Kaithas
Type: Crossover Combination
Deadline: Friday, September 11

Your character has moved beyond the realm of mere words, beyond even the ascendancy of medium that is the official RWBY TV show; your character, in all its badassery, is now a playable character in a fighting game. It is your task to reimagine your character's specialty, skillset, abilities, and persona to fit into the uniquely formulaic, yet infinitely potential world of the fighting game a la Skullgirls, Injustice or Street FIghter. You will be evaluated based on how well you adapt your character and their various abilities and how kickass your concept is overall. Show me your moves!

no extra credits is given for unique formatting of a response to this prompt

Intro: Your character arrives, stands up, or prepares their weapons, and probably says something, and afterward he or she is ready to fight. It need not be assertive or aggressive, but many are. Check out various examples

Playstyle: Yeah, this again. If you competed in the first contest, go ahead and copy-paste.

3-7 Special Moves: Normal attacks are great, but what really makes a character unique is his or her special moves. These typically require more complicated control inputs, are flashier, have extra effects, and have more of an impact on the game. They can be projectiles, counters, command throws, mobility options like teleports, enhanced attacks, and much more. The most well-known example is the classic Shoto special moveset: fireball, hurricane kick, and uppercut. Remember, these are what primarily define your character's playstyle. Don't ruin the playstyle you've created for yourself by giving a certain character the wrong moves.

Instant Kill: Hailing from Guilty Gear is the 'instant kill' move. If this hard-to-hit attack lands, the round ends after a short cutscene that depicts the attacker destroying the opponent in one way or another. To be sure, not all kill the opponent; many even do something silly, like Faust's 'This is Me?' and May's cannon thing. Take a look, then think of something that only your character can ever do. Rule of Cool is much in effect for this move. Oh, and if you like, you can specify certain reactions that are specific to other characters if your Instant Kill is used on them.

V-Trigger: A powered-up state that lasts a short time. This should not be a general, overall increase in power. It should be something that has a specific bonus. In Street Fighter V, Birdie's increases his damage and his the ability of his special moves to put his foe into a stun state. Cammy gets faster recovery time on her attacks and one of her specials is improved greatly. Ryu's attacks are electrified, giving his specials new properties, including the ability to charge and inflict massive blockstun on landing a charged Hadoken. Rainbow Mika, a wrestler, is able to call upon her tag-team partner for assists.

Taunt: A pose and a quip, most often. Though Dudly tosses a rose, Q gains increased defense, and Deadpool can actually hit people with a text box with the word 'taunt' in it.

Win Animation: What does your character do after a victory? Polish his glasses? Eat some donuts? Bury the opponent? Demand to see a marriage certificate?

Win Quotes: Choose four or more characters and create a specific quote to give to each when yours beats them.

Oh
and there's a new system being put in place. If less than six people enter a contest, the rewards will stay the same. If seven enter, a third place will be added, and all reward values go up one. If fourteen or more people enter the same contest, a fourth place will become available, and #1 will receive 4 c, #2 3, and so on. This is to encourage massive participation in contests and I will not be reasoned out of it for at least two weeks.
<Snipped quote by Invisible Man>

I don't understand his semblance, exactly how does luck help you reload a gun.

Also ANOTHER character who has a variation of blue as there color...? I just want everyone to know that I was one of the first ones to choose that and all the others that came before me have since dropped out.

You, Prince, are a wrongman. Abel Fulgurate and his Azure were in the first chapter.
Fleo Plector – Phoenix Wing Stands

@hatakekuro@zarkun

Much to Fleo's relief, it didn't take too much time for Nolan to work himself out of his funk and arrive back at his more or less usual level of surliness. Thinking about his question, she ran back in her mind the match that had just taken place. It had been, she decided, so quick and confusing. Without a particular need to appear knowledgeable to her friend, Fleo mused to him and James, ”That one was real tough to follow. I didn't know where they were half the time, or what was happening. This isn't the first time I'm glad I decided to pass up the games. I woulda gotten de-stroyed. I mean, I know Maddox can teleport. Haven't seen him around much since I joined the guild, but he's talked about a bunch, yeah. I couldn't really get a read on that Grant guy at all. Anyone who fights with blood is a weirdo in my book.”

James had yet to speak, it seemed. Fleo decided to supply him with something. ”Whaddya think? Could you have taken him?” With the beginning of the new match, Fleo cast a glance at the two ladies now in the ring before shrugging. ”I've never heard of those people before. They look kinda like models. There's not gonna be the 'glamour battle' from a hundred years ago, right? Yeesh, I cringe just thinking of it.”

Above the arena, perched upon the precipice of its outer limb, was a figure not at all distinguishable from a statue. It stood, more still than stone, its mixed jackal and human features in utter defiance to any known being on Fiore. With the sobriety of an ancient god, forgotten and forced to observe the ignorant throngs of humanity for a painful and empty eternity, it presided over the Doma Flau. Pitch-black and glossy was its exterior, with sapphires inset in the eyes of the metallic headpiece, all save for its long and tattered tail. Only the steely blade of a long, curved knife, embedded by the point into the stone around its feet, could gleam with the reflected rays of the sun and possibly betray the existence of this strange and lonely statue up on high.

Torn between helping Ayame along and making sure Eve seemed alright, Nero moved slowly along the Crocus street. People, or at least those with no interest in the Games, were now out and about, and while the strange trio received a few appropriately dubious looks nobody interfered with their travel. The genie was more than happy to leave the rotten brothers behind. With no true goal in mind, he landed upon the notion of just continuing until he found something that interested him. Crocus was, after all, a huge city. Surely it contained something to stir the intrigue of three dark mages?

After about twenty minutes, the trio stumbled upon a store that sold antiques. Ceramics, books, paintings, pottery, and much more could be seen on the front shelves alone, though there appeared to be no trace of magic about the place. ”Perfect,” the genie decided, and led the way in, holding onto his young, distraught companion with a guiding hand.

Inside, aside from the various objects of intrigue that littered the two-story shelves, there was what looked like a card table from seventy years ago set up in one corner of the shop, basking in the light of a nearby window. At the table was seated a woman, alone and preoccupied with shuffling and reshuffling a deck of cards. On the other side of the shop was a young, bespectacled man leaned against the wall with a serious and even nervous expression, appearing to read a book but sneaking a glance every so often at a headphone-wearing, punkish sort of girl browsing the antiques. Farther back in the shop, in a close group and speaking in low tones, was a group of five students. Nero hoped that Ayame and Eve would find something diverting in here. With all the interesting sights and even smells (machinery, wood, wax, and porcelain, and more) it seemed impossible that they wouldn't. The dark mage had his eyes set on the lady at the card table. People on their own were easiest to work with, and if her nature mirrored her image as a player, she might be willing to bet. He whispered to Eve, ”Tell me, do you know much about poker? If nothing, find someone who does and send e my way.”

Nero walked over to the card table and seated himself, receiving barely a disinterested glance from the lady. He grinned. ”Nice work shufflin' there. Those cards will be in great shape when it's time to use them. Do you know how to playpoker?”

With a wry smile the lady collected her cards with quick, nimble fingers. When she spoke, her voice was husky from smoke, and she occasionally said the wrong word. “It is my second favorite gain...uh, game. Are you thank...thinking of challenging me to a game?”

Her potential opponent grinned widely and nodded. ”Yepper-doo! It's my first time, though. You looked pretty serious, so I thought I'd see if you'd teach me a lesson.”

The woman now treated Nero to a smirk. “You will defiant...definitely learn something when you are defeaten...er, beaten by Leah Miles.” Moving her fingertips faster than the eye could track, she began to deal.
Name: Valin Nash

Age: 19

Gender: Male

Race: Human

Weapon: Slot, his completely ordinary revolver. A brand of revolver that could quite easily be constructed and sold right off the counter in any shop that could legally sell guns. Yep, just his not out of the ordinary gun that he carries around, nothing to really see here.

So, with that out of the way, we can get to the fun stuff! Now, there are two reasons why the gun is called slot. First, he calls his bullets coins, and pretends the 'coins' are going into the 'slot'. He likes to imagine things. Second, the orderly and simplistic design of his weapon makes it quite easy to add any attachments into his gun, thus, making it so that his gun has tons of slots for add-ons! He came up with that name all by himself. There are several variants of his weapon, all attachments are kept within his light weight pack with other things crammed inside.

Whew, with so many combinations to choose from, how do you make the probability tree even larger? Why, use different coins of course! These coins will just make things more hectic also combined with dust! Just what is this boy thinking? Why does he have so many choices to choose from? Why do I keep talking when I should be explaining the types of coins and dusts? Find out, in the next hider.

Wow! That is a lot of stuff to handle! Amrite!? Well, nothing that Valin can't handle. He likes being random, or make people think he is random. Either way, with all that amount of variations for guns and bullets. Can't wait to see it in action.

Specialty: Fighting style? Well, like many teenagers and young adults inside of the fine establishment, he uses a gun! Revolvers are mainly preferred to be used in short to medium distances. However, with the right set of add-ons can really change the fighting style of the boy and the field around him. So, he prefers to be close to the action, but not too close to be stabbed or slashed at from close combat range. He isn't the best at agility and stamina, but he could hold on his own if necessary. Just not for too long.

Semblance: Luck - Just as the name says, his semblance gives him the ability to get lucky. Now, you might be thinking, can't he use that for any type of situation? From getting the right answer on a multiple choice test to getting a girlfriend? Nah, it takes a immense amount of focus and strain to activate his semblance. Valin can maybe use it three or four times for reloading, and any further would be very dangerous for his health. So, he only uses it in life threatening situations.

Personality: Valin loves the chaotic life style that he has chosen. Disorder flows through his veins and confusion is the type of aura that he usually gives off to others. He is the type of person that likes to cause trouble for others, be they friend or foe, all are the same to him. So, with that kind of attitude towards people, he doesn't really make friends very often, and many dislike him for his reckless and negative attitude. However, he ignores this all while giving the same crooked smile and chittering chuckles.

So, the enigma of Valin can't be broken, very surprising. Or maybe, people haven't tried hard enough to break through that hard shell of his. There could be something under the vast amount of layers of cynicism, irritation, and confusion. Who knows? He might actually just be crazy, you figure it out.

Color: Ultramarine

Emblem: Placed upon the back of his clothes is the image of a skull with a cross going through the left eye socket.

Appearance:

Well, that came out of nowhere. It might be difficult finding you a spot. Actually, it seems to me like this Valin (that some sort of reference to a color?) might work on our antagonist team, Midnight Squad.
