Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

What? How'd I manage that oversight? Yeesh.
Hey I've got a former hunters team I need to name. The names I have for it are:

Janus Rode
Melanie MacDonald
Daniel Steele

I don't have a fourth member so his or her name could be determined after the team is named. I also want the team name to relate somehow to chess as each member of the team has a chess piece as their symbol.

J'ADoube - A player says "J'adoube" as the international signal that he intends to adjust the position of a piece on the board without being subject to the touched piece rule.

ADJudication - Decision by a strong chess player (the adjudicator) on the outcome of an unfinished game. This practice is now uncommon in over-the-board events, but does happen in online chess when one player refuses to continue after an adjournment.

That's the best I got.

Classes are going to begin tomorrow afternoon.
Filia – Chinese Eatery

To Chao, Filia listened with rapt attention. At the moment, none of the ridiculous or frightening strangers surrounding her mattered anymore. Before her, veiled within this teasing waitress, lay the answers. Even the wafting aromas of delicious dishes, including the surprisingly-appetizing meal served to Wario, failed to distract her now. Hidden still beneath her hat on the back of her head, Samson listened with equal intensity. As they came, the words pricked at the two like pine nettles, but to avoid missing anything they avoided dwelling on individual statements. A few moments later, Chao finished, and Filia exhaled slowly, having not realized she'd been holding her breath.

She mulled over these new revelations in her head. The changing expressions present on Chao's face hadn't escaped Filia's notice, but even with those extra hints, the schoolgirl couldn't help but feel that something important remained unknown still. If a super-powerful being truly held control over this 'dimension', and the very City itself aligned itself against her, she and Samson would have to be very careful indeed. Luckily, there was no duo more powerful. “I guess we're up for it, then.”

A glance to her left confirmed both the presence of a serious-looking soldier man and some sort of squabble between the flying pony and a random red-haired maid. Having her fill of information for the time being for now, and not committed to satisfying her hunger with so much commotion around, she got to her feet. After saying to Kino, “Gonna go get some air,” and leaving her to speak to the maid, Filia turned her back on the Chinese place and headed back in the direction of the school. On the way, a lock of hair slithered out from her hat and speared straight through a large piece of chicken in Chun-Li's lo mein, and pulled it into an unseen maw.

Once out of sight of the main group, Filia became aware of a smacking sound behind her head. “Samson, did you take someone's food?”

”Sure I did. Did you see the thighs on the chick I swiped it from? She doesn't need any more meat.” Samson erupted suddenly from beneath the hat, hair flying in every direction like a cat stretching its limbs. One tendril of hair grabbed the hat and stuffed it into the parasite's mouth for safekeeping.

Filia crossed her arms indignantly. “Samson, that's so mean! She looked really strong, too.” Her train of thought derailed when a yelling noise greeted her from a nearby dumpster. Instinctively, her hair bunched up into long strands like tentacles, ready for action. “Uh, it's probably just another stranger. We should let him out, right?”

”Whatever, kid. We can't trust anything 'round here. Anyone could be this Viewer's toadie.” Quietly, the pair approached the container of trash. One strand of hair formed itself into a fist and knocked against the metal. “Hello? Anyone in there?”

DIO – Roanpur

An air of finality accompanied DIO as he stepped from the wall onto the ground. Six feet and five inches of power surveyed the Overlord and Marchesa, one after the other. The metal warrior, at least, appeared to acknowledge the vampire's presence, even betraying the ego he obviously held so dear to bestow upon DIO a nod of recognition. Seeing this made him smile. Here stood a creature that could be bent to his will, for if even the tiniest crack existed in a dam, sooner or later the water would begin to break through. Even if the Overlord would not permit himself to become DIO's subordinate, he would still doubtless be of use as a partner. Either way, if the Overlord proved himself worthy of respect, DIO would never betray him. Too often did those unbound by typical morals turn against one another in pursuit of their own goals, never imagining that honor among thieves might prove the most stalwart of all.

Meanwhile, the woman had, of course, survived. Furthermore, she'd prostrated herself and proclaimed her eagerness to serve...but not for DIO. Evidently, his aura had yet to intoxicate her, and she focused more upon the armored behemoth. Well, DIO couldn't fault her for that. At first glance, a blonde man in yellow with green hearts as his emblem did not appear quite so commanding as a hulking knight in steel, to a strong will at least. No matter. DIO could practically taste the tension coming off her. As she knelt, he simply strode, moving slowly but taking long steps, toward the better-preserved of the two corpses. Using his nails, the vampire nicked himself, and allowed some of his precious blood to drip onto the body. A moment passed before the carcass before him started to change. The flesh, already sagging and wan, regained its lost vitality. The wound that had been his undoing closed like a zipper. Before a moment had passed, the huge man opened his eyes and bared fanged teeth to the world. Effortlessly, DIO reached down and helped him to his feet, then turned toward Marchesa and the Overlord. One hand behind his head and the other resting on his collar, he said, ”It is wise, is it not, to take advantage of every life to the fullest? To flippantly waste strength, will, and ambition, is more tragic than a thousand deaths. You both strike me as exceedingly gifted, and no gift is to small to be useful to me. My followers are my treasure, but so too are the friendships I create. Tell me: what precisely do you know of this city? Of its layout, its intention, and those of the oh-so-grand Viewer who rules it? This knowledge would be only the first gift I might give you. Others -freedom from the shadow of death, respite from any wound, physical strength beyond compare, and above all the peace of mind that all mortals so desperately crave- await you. Though I wish for your servitude, I would be no less happy to call you two...my comrades.” he purred. Anyone, from most terribly gullible to most keenly acute, could sense the truth and conviction behind his words. Every promise he made, he meant utterly. Clearly, DIO desired absolute loyalty from those he worked with, and to do so would earn it however necessary.
Looking at you @Dead Cruiser.
If anyone wants to interact with Ed just have him fall nearby.

Introduction's up to you buddy. Is Ed even in Mahora, or Roanpur?
I dunno about a wholesale PW theme song, but I found Nero's for sure.

I'll see if I know anything that might work for a total song.

Edit: I like this a whole lot. Might use it for Frenzy Plant though.

Cripes, that was me longest post in a while.
Mercury Marowit – Frenzy Camp

@Invisible Man

Invisible? ”Great,” Mercury mumbled as he hefted his kamas. Nevertheless, he continued to look from side to side in quick succession, as if his personal acuity could pierce whatever hex hid the enemies from the naked eye. When Magni fell under attack, Mercury hopped forward and swung upward with both weapons, but hit nothing. The blades of his arms slashed through mere air, and Mercury growled in frustration. Clearly, it was up to him and Hyun. By downing Magni, however, the enemies had made it personal, and ushered in their own destruction. No soldier of Frenzy Plant would allow their ally to be struck down on their watch, particularly Mercury--to do so was to embrace personal failure. Magni's shout alerted him, and he rushed toward his seven o'clock with a frenzied yell, but again his kamas failed to connect. ”Bitch dodged me!” he roared, ”He thinks he's so much better than me 'cuz he's an inch taller! But he's don't appreciate my ability to hit everything!” The next instant Mercury launched himself into a wild and berserk slew of attacks in every direction, weak but fast, turning into a whirlwind of rage and steel.

Meanwhile, Hyun stood still, a single blade poised horizontally above her head. At some point during the last minute, she'd discarded her hairband, and now her brown locks blew freely in the wind. Her eyes were shut and her breathing was deep and rhythmic. Looking at her, one could be forgiven for assuming that she was trying to pinpoint the locations of her adversaries via sound, but she'd heard Magni's warning loud and clear. With neither her eyes nor ears of any use to her, Hyun now relied upon a third sense to reveal the enemy to her: touch. Though more hidden than a master shinobi, and more silent than an owl's tomb, the people who attacked Magni could not avoid churning the air around them as they moved through it. ”I can feel it with my hair,” she whispered. ”I can feel it on my skin, and in the rustle of my clothes...” Motionless, she waited, but not for long. Slowly, the edges of her mouth curved into a smile. ”That telltale wind!” Springing off her feet, Hyun lunged to her right, swinging her katana in a ruthless horizontal slice, a deadly crescent moon.

Ni Rensa – Restaurant Exterior

@lmpkio@raijinslayer@hatakekuro@caits

Like someone had flicked a switch, Ni Rensa's face turned beet red. Her claws balled into spiky fists, her tail went straight as an arrow, and even her pigtails seemed agitated. For a few moment she fumed silently, unable to articulate words, and when she finally spoke it was with utmost scorn. ”Y-you moronya! I'm nyot...! I don't...! Kilo's just a big nyincompoop. B-barely even knyows how to use an axe, yet I'm stuck on his team! He's got more meat for brains than he has for muscle, and have you seen that guy? Eats like a t-total pig! No wonder he's like sevenya feet tall. How could anyone like him?! Especially me. 'Cuz I don't like him! At all! And he's not evenya a furry, you dumbo! If he goes around thinking we're like, a pair or something, and we're nyot, it's because he likes me as a person and not because I'm a War Sphinx! How dare you evenya? Idiot!”

It occurred to Ni suddenly that Argus was nowhere to be found. After scanning every direction with tawny gold eyes, she turned back to Enma and glared at him ferociously despite being substantially shorter than him at a mere 4ft 11 inches. ”Now where's he gone? Come and help me find him. Looks like they've abolished arenya fightinya anyway.”

The two rushed off, as much as an Oni and a War Sphinx could. Fortunately, the extended pause in the Games had resulted in a thinned crowd and easy navigation. In no time, Ni and Enma arrived at the restaurant into which Argus had intruded, just in time to see him plummet from the roof into the street and Marlene appear beside him. ”What? He's gottenya into a scrape alread...whoa!” Ni Rensa swerved to avoid ramming into a familiar figure in blue. The sudden motion led to her placing her bladed heel in a poor position, and immediately afterward, Ni tumbling to the ground, winded and gasping. It took only a second for her to regain her footing with catlike precision, and only after did she recognize the individual. ”Hey hey hey, it's Gabe! So sorry about that, I nyearly clocked ya! You okay?” Speedily, Ni patted him over, checking for cuts and bruises. He seemed fine—physically, at least. His downcast expression told a different story for his psyche. ”Is...is there something wrong?”

Argus and Marlene, of course, had been forgotten for the time being, leaving that problem to Enma.

Nero the Genie – Bold Tone Creamery

@liferusher@invisible man

Still grinning, Nero held open the door for his friends, and observed the other points of interest around the street all the while. He'd just turned back to follow Eve and Ayame in when a female voice called his name. Immediately Nero froze, his mind racing to recollect exactly who those tones belonged to. Despite his best efforts, he could not identify the voice before the approaching footsteps behind him signaled the arrival of the time to turn around. The Genie spun on his left heel, his purple cape flapping in the faint breeze, and beheld a face totally unknown to him. Of course, if this girl knew his name, he'd known her at some point...how could he have forgotten, particularly a young lady with white hair and heterochromia of all things? Heh, that's easy, he rationalized internally, smiling at the new arrival all the while. I've only got eyes for one chick now. Rather than a personal greeting, Nero resorted to a less-specific, ”Ah, hello again! Yeah, it's been ages. One sec!” He peeked into the interior of Bold Tone Creamery and called to his companions, ”You ladies find out what ice cream ya want. I'll take anything. If you're fresh outta dough, just wait a minute.”

The parlor door slowly swung shut, leaving the Genie and the Bard alone. Nero leaned against the colorful brick wall of the building, hands behind his head in thoroughly relaxed position. ”Wish? Sure, I got wishes for days.” A few moments passed, with the wind and the steady chatter of man and animal alike in the background playing accompaniment to Trinity's voice. In the course of her explanation, Nero happened to partially see her left clavicle, and the marker there that identified her as a member of Phoenix Wing. At that, he needed to put in substantial effort to avoid rolling his eyes. Not much remained from his experience at Phoenix Wing several months ago, but everyone he did manage to remember he certainly didn't like. When Trinity was done, he replied, ”Fate? Bologna. Dudes who say ya can't escape fate just don't have the power to change their lives. Then again, death comes for us all now and again, huh? Anyway, maybe I got something in my bag of tricks to help this sick person. Affliction, Augmentation, Manifestation, whichever it takes, I can help. Let me tell ya though: I'm not doin' this for free. I fix this dudeman, he owes me. Or you do. Phoenix Wing types are all about sacrificin' for one another, right? Find Sickie McGee and bring 'em to me in like ten minutes. I'm busy at the moment."

Without brooking any further comment from Nero, he went into the parlor, effectively dismissing her for the time being. Hastily he made his way over to his companions, dealt with the ice cream situation, and settled down with Eve and Ayame to enjoy a tasty treat. About five minutes in, a thought struck him. The very idea of it caused his pale skin to flush and his black eyes to shine. For some time now, there'd been something he wanted to do. Could now be the time? Trying to suppress his eagerness, Nero cleared his throat and spoke in a conversational tone to Eve. ”Hey, Eve. D'you mind if I...there's a sort of magical spell I'd like to try. It'll change ya a bit, but it's only temporary, unless, um, you say otherwise. Should be a fun, interestin' sorta experience. And it's totally safe. You up for something like that?”
Waiting on the players of Marchesa and Overlord to post.
I know nothing about this. How am I meant to know this, when it hasn't been written in?

And it would still stand in any case, cause Gabriel hasn't, in what I've had for him, gone out with anyone else since the last quest

I thought it was implied that people did jobs during the two months without it being written in. I could have been jumping the gun with that assumption though, so I'll concede on that point.

Well, okay, but then that's his fault and not Frenzy Plant's. I can see why he might think it to be the guild's from his perspective, however.

@lmpkio @raijinslayer I'm a bit slow to post due to an ongoing correspondence between me and IM but do you think you could wait for Ni to arrive before the fight continues?
