I am asking for the actual awards themselves. For example best entry wins a hand drawn avatar, custom signature banner, custom title, a hall of fame, etc.
I'm building an award/trophy kind of system so awards will actually be supported by the forum and you should be able to trivially scroll through the winners of past contests and view someone's trophy case on their profile. I think people should also be able to brag. Not sure exactly how I will implement it yet since I've been working on other features. Maybe you get to pick a trophy from your trophy case to show up in your userbit on each post. Maybe you get a banner in your posts. I'll give it some thought soon, but the idea is that I want people to feel a sense of accomplishment as they accumulate awards on the forum.

@ravenDivinity: I'll push up the new site tomorrow. I'll spend the rest of that day fixing it according to feedback and working on whatever feature/improvement I decide to get done this weekend. I might've misunderstood you, but the sidebar is only going to stack on smartphone-sized devices because it doesn't fit. On anything larger, there's plenty of space to show the sidebar and the forums. It'd be cool to let users collapse/expand the sidebar, but it's prob not worth the effort. @clark: Looks good. I think the solution is to move the status to where you have it in the mockup but just leave it as colored text. That way "apply"/"jump-in" can be green and "full" can be gray without looking like a tag since I agree that red is a bad color for this. @Shienvien: Yeah, I need to improve the tags so they are bearable on our dark background.
Well this is weird, I been browsing the guild for weeks on mobile and it is mobil-friendly, everything is stacked before you even worked on it@Mahz
Some things kinda stack, but it took me a lot of effort the past couple days to actually make things stack appropriately, adjust the margins on content at different sizes, and create mobile-friendly versions of some of our components that will appear as you shrink the page. I'll deploy those changes tomorrow and then add a directive that tells browsers to render the site at device-width. Of course, you'll still be able to zoom. @Shienvien: I'd like to implement a checkbox toggle in the user-settings that lets yall turn that directive off. Being able to view the zoomed-out/desktop view will also be a temporary solution should there be any game-breaking bugs that make it into the mobile view. Cross-browser + cross-device compatibility issues is where time goes to die.

At the moment to write this post I am both scrolling back and forward and seeing my screen scroll just to see the whole text box. So to read properly I either have to zoom out and look at size 3 font or try to scroll back and forth with the feel of reading a newspaper through a magnifying glass. If you don't have scrolling you could reduce the font a touch, take out sigs, and just limit headers to names and an avatar. You'd also may want to think about a static dropdown menu at the top to allow for easy navigation. With some of the really long threads it would become a pain to scroll up to the top by swiping the screen 50 times.
omfg. If I had known it was so bad I would've done this weeks ago. Started making some progress.
@ScarlettWaters16 @Kangaroo: Yeah, unfortunately the current system will only send notifications upon post creation. #willfix

Question for mobile users: I can put some work into the guild so that it renders to the width of your device. No more constant zooming. Most things that are implemented as columns when viewed on a large screen will be "stacked" when viewed on your mobile device. For instance, when viewing a post, the username/avatar will stack above the post content. But that also means that, when viewing the homepage from a mobile device, there will be no sidebar anymore. It will instead stack below all of the forums. Everything will be 100% width on mobile devices. I have a smartphone but I rarely use it for browsing the internet, so I have zero intuition here. What do yall generally prefer when viewing websites on your mobile device? Would you rather just see the non-mobile version and have to zoon, or would you rather I refactor the website so that it things adjust to your screen's width? Here's an example of a sidebar "stacking" below the main content as your shrink the window (or view on mobile device): http://getbootstrap.com/examples/blog/

Just wondering - are there plans to make email notifications an option? At least for PMs and subbed threads? I feel like I'm compulsively checking for a new pm on here when I could just have my email up in another tab. But I might just be a bit neurotic. xD
That's definitely a feature I will add. I've been trying to take a break from working on "boring" forum features like better notifications, so I can't promise a deadline though. These features are important, but sometimes they are just too draining on me.

@NuttsnBolts Thanks, I'll turn the ads off til I figure out a solution. Update: I think I fixed it? I'm going to play with google's resizable ads to see if I can shrink that ad on mobile.

Latest push: - Finally put ads back up.
@MahzIs the etherpad implementation still being developed? I haven't heard anything about it for a while... :(
I made really good progress, I built most of it, and I found out that the feature is possible and should integrate nicely. The hard part about Etherpad is that it runs on its own server and the guild's forum server will have to talk to it. Once I add an Etherpad server to the guild's deploy system (a system that is currently very simple), it's going to add a lot of operational complexity. More of my free-time will be spent on Etherpad maintenance and performance issues, and I'll have less time for other guild features. In other words, it will irreversibly introduce a lot of complexity for a feature that only a few people really care about, so I'm not in a critical rush. I hope you understand. It's still a feature I will implement, and I proved to myself that it's possible, it's just not a good time for it at this moment. Also, since scaling websockets (the tech Etherpad uses) is not something I have much experience with, I may implement a similar but simpler project so I can practice. I was thinking of building a quick chat system for the forum on a weekend and ensure that I can get that to scale to the guild's activity levels.

@Mahz I was made a test co-GM in an RP for one of my friends, and I can't seem to see an edit button for the topic. Where's it supposed to be?
Thanks. #willfix
<Snipped quote by Hank> Mahz still tucks his dick up too, apparently. You'd think that, at his age, he wouldn't be susceptible to random boners any more.
No, it's not a tuck. I use the trouser string to hang it. There's pretty much two factions with men: those that use the trouser string that comes in mens' pants to hang their penis ("hangers") and those that roll their penis into a ball and clench it between their legs ("coilers"). You cannot "tuck" a flaccid dick up into your waistband for the same reason you can't lean a rope against the wall. Sounds like your boy's not being honest with you. Must be a coiler.
