I did it, finally. It wouldn't surprise me if some of you guys predicted the adventurer's guild making a move like this. But just so you know that signing up isn't mandatory and that this move was made with the GMs' approval.

From the moment he first heard the news, he knew he had a long couple of days ahead of him; At least that was his estimation from his lengthy experience, though it was under the assumption that the teams sent in to clear out the monstrous incursion were capable enough. It did stand to reason however, considering the level of importance resting on the festival. Mind you, that was his impression even before the onrush of whining merchants barged into the building and demanded he take action.

The amount of self control it took to patiently hear them out aside, Rowan did indeed see little recourse but to issue an open contract for anyone so able to join the village's hunting party, members of which will travel together to the festival grounds and coordinate with other hunting teams to rout the intruding monsters. Applications have been coming in steadily, and it is estimated that around a dozen hunters will be set to depart tomorrow morning.

Till the festival's finally underway, the guild hall would continue to have its hand's full. One couldn't ignore the sheer number of people who came this way only to be stranded due to the delay, and that only meant more problems that needed sorting on top of the usual amount of jobs that always comes their way. It therefore hardly came as a surprise that the guild employees that requested time off for the festival had said petitions temporarily suspended until the predicament was handled, while everyone on the whole saw an increase in their hours. Rowan needed all hands on deck, a matter he made next to no effort to sugarcoat to his staff, though he did mention a fair bonus to their next paychecks.

The frail older gentleman sitting across the table from Rowan chuckled loudly as he lifted the cup of coffee to his white bearded lips, clearly having the more enjoyable time out of the two, having taken to one of his anecdotes that danced around the line between truth and hyperbole. He is known as Mr. (Isaac) Cullen, an old friend of the former guild master, who had agreed to stick around to show a newly arrived Rowan the ins and outs of managing the hall, that is... when he wasn't strolling down memory lane and generally doing his part to ensure his protégé wound up just as bald as he is.

"Yeah, yeah, very funny. And why did you pick here to spend your morning telling stories and not at the pub again?" Rowan replied, not even bothering to look up from the clipboard of trade documents that an assistant handed to him, many of which needed his sign off. This meeting of theirs wasn't exactly a private one, as to their side were the descending stairs that led to the ground floor of the hall.

"Because my stories are for the ones that need them, and there's no one that needs a good story more than you, hehh heh," the man returned with a wrinkled smile. "Seriously now, you're still the same stick in the mud you were when I first took you under my wing. You know you could have at least invited your dear old teacher to your lovely office so we could reminisce in peace." Cullen leaned forward expectingly with his hand resting on the walking stick at his side, trying to look as innocent as he could.

Rownan did look up from his work at that, though with an annoyed, almost unbelieving look in his eyes. "And have you in the same room as the wine cabinet. Not a chance. Some of us learn from our mistakes, thank you very much."

"You're no fun..." was the old man's dejected retort before taking another sip of his coffee.

As its name would suggest, Frontier Village is one beset by a wide variety of dungeon and other dangerous locations. As Guildmaster, Rowan is in charge of helping facilitate and organize all excursions into such locations, seeing to it that all who intend to take on this line of work are duly equipped, supplied, as well as given access to the latest field intelligence and posted requests from all across the village. His responsibilities keep him busy for most of the day, so nowadays he's devoted a room of the Guild Hall as his living quarters.

Skills

• (Adept) Huntsman - Can track, capture and kill wild animals/monsters within familiar terrain
• (Adept) Survivalist - Knowledgeable and capable of sustaining himself handily in the wilderness of certain regions
• (Veteran) Sword-Wielder - Proficient in handling singular swords as a weapon

Description

The Guild Hall has been in place well before the Battle of the Floating Empire five years ago, yet Rowan is the latest to take the position of Guildmaster, having arrived at the village for that very purpose just three years ago. Since relieving the kindly older proprietor, who left to retire closer to his family in Norad and had been with the village for many years, Rowan hasn't done a great deal to really assimilate as a member of the community, instead devoting nearly all his time to running the guild hall. To this day, he has the reputation among villagers and adventurers as being a stern, uncompromising man, and among the workers that may work under him as being quite the taskmaster.

Point of Interest

Adventurer's Guild Hall - Additions have long been made to the once single room building that had replaced the modest bunch of shaded outdoor counters and board that once sat at the property during the village's earliest days. The large building now sits as a two-story structure, a sizable open space made to accommodate many people, usually villagers waiting to file requests. Furniture is set in rows before a long wooden desk where receptionists speak with waiting clients, while to the side is a spacious standing board on which requests are posted. Overhead is the second story balcony, lead to by a nearby staircase, with additional table and furniture sets. A few rooms can be accessed on the second floor, including Rowan's main office and a room he's adopted as his living quarters.

Every morning, Vivian will depart from her residence and head directly to the post office to begin her routes as a mail delivery girl for the day, a job she takes to diligently and with a vibrant smile on her face, especially when she comes across other people on her route. After she's finished and returns to the post office to turn in her equipment, she'll go to the Golden Hind Inn where a good portion of the afternoon will then be spent waiting tables.

Skills

• (Journeyman) Singer - Has the makings of a skilled, melodic vocalist with a number of various songs in her repertoire
• (Apprentice) Tailor - Can't fabricate entirely new clothing from scratch but can sew and patch existing fabrics relatively easily
• (Novice) Cook - Conceivably able to prepare a few meals slightly more difficult than cooked eggs fairly consistently

Description

Even by human standards, Vivian is usually considered by many to be too young to have spent her early childhood moving from place to place. Yet she herself would look fondly back at the great adventure her life's been prior to a fateful encounter with Rowan some years ago. She saw something in the grumpy old fogy that day and has since accompanied him even as far as Frontier Village. Heeding his advice to get settled, Vivian very quickly decided on the mail delivery service as her main way of supporting herself, but eventually took on extra work as a waitress at the local inn, mostly as her way of thanking the establishment's keeper for giving her a place to stay. She can be quite inquisitive and outgoing when it comes to people, but does appreciate some alone time now and again.

Point of Interest

Post Office - It has always stood near the heart of the village, its growing operations in conjunction with the settlement's expanding borders necessitating a number of key extensions over the years. Most notable is one of it's newest additions, a wood and cobblestone tower that supports a sort of aviary at its head for all the office's resident messenger birds, perfect for express letter delivery to and from many major villages and cities. Employment has likewise grown, from the workers made to sort the mail and run the postal service from the inside, to the mail carriers whose combined routes encompass the entire village.

I'd say that the majority of his secret backstory is complete and has been shown to the GM, give or take some details. I can hold off moving it forward until such specifics are settled.

Thank you for the offer. I've just been thinking up of concepts in my spare time, one that I've fallen in love with, though they're on the younger side, young enough that they'll probably count as a dependent to another villager. From there, I thought about making that villager as well, I suppose as a backup if you would allow multiple characters and no other player is willing to facilitate. I hope that makes sense.

By now I just have names and character portraits. I'm unsure if I'll proceed further than that, and I'm of course content to wait until the work is further along to the point that I'd have more to work with towards a full CS. There is no hurry after all, certainly not if you have other matters to attend to.
