There isn't an awful lot to know. The creature will be Amphibian in nature, so it can be in water and on land. You'll get the hunt from the Headmaster of the academy, so you can begin there, and then travel to Oakridge City for a boat ride to Wolfwater. Some dialog with the Mayor, maybe some locals, and lure the creature into the open. I might have Celise go as well, so you won't be alone.

@Prisk So for the main mission I am definitely interested in accompanying Celise to the Battle for Leddale especially since the objective is holding back the infection of Stigma.

However, I also would like to do the hunt of The Watery Grave, I know you said we can do this via flashback, but I am uncertain as to how this actually works. Do I ask you for permission first and gain details from you or do I make it up as I go with creativity

You make it up as you go, but with my guidance of course. I'll either provide you with details in-character of out-of-character. If Celise isn't there, I can always create a NPC that comes with you, or who is already there, or any kind of person during the way. However, a lot of it is up to those who do the hunt. You get to be a semi-GM of sorts.

It beings at the academy, on the morning of deployment day. Your character will see which mission they've been assigned to through the campus messaging system. That's how you choose yourself and make it work in-character.

I've put up a "0th post" in the IC tab with information about the first season of this game, and the first missions and hunts available. You can freely choose what you want to do right off the bat. For reference, Celise will partake in the "Battle for Leddale" mission, as it's her homestead.

@Prisk That brings me to a question I had about catalysts. Since they are mostly food items and you use the word consume is this something that our characters have to eat before combat? Or is simply having them in your inventory enough to activate its effects and they get used up in the process?

The roleplay aspect of it is optional. You don't have to actually describe the character mixing the ingredients and eating the catalyst. But, if you use a catalyst, you have to mention it somewhere so that I know. In previous games, we've included hiders in combat posts with quick information about what the character did (so that it's easy for me to see/go back and check).

As your characters are in the character tab, please do some pre-game shopping for 1000 Gil! roleplayerguild.com/posts/4378640 At the bottom you've got ingredients for Catalysts, and then some Items. You can't save the 1000 Gil, though, so go crazy and add whatever you get to your 'Property' section.
