Current I turned 40 recently. Nothing happened, no crisis or anything. Turns out it's just another year.

I admire your effort despite setbacks, but if you feel forced, you shouldn't continue at this time. You're always welcome to come in at a later point in the storyβ€”It's an extremely long story! So there is about a thousand moments where it will be natural to get in on things. I'm just letting you know, so that you are aware of the option, and that it's totally cool with me if you'd like to focus on other things for now.

@Archangel89
That's a bummer! But also great! We'll find a good entry for your character when you're ready.
@Rockette
Off from here or from work?

@deadpixel101
Giving you a nudge. I hope you're still with us, but if not, that's alright. I won't tag anymore after this one, so that I won't bother you!

Well, yeah...being ridiculously good-looking is one of the major elements of Mary Suedom.

Let's delve into some criticism, shall we?

It must've occurred to you, at some point, that the idea of people roleplaying fantasy stories on an online forum is closely connected to self-insertion. It's quite a significant step from Fan Fiction to Escapism. Knowing that, doesn't it seem counter productive to be frustrated with the concept of 'Mary Sue'? What you are saying is that any character that is attractive is partially a Mary Sue, and therefore illegitimate regardless of its other aspects. There are quite a few other factors that must be met before you can call a character a Mary Sue: lack of flaws, wide range of expertise, dramatic or tragic backstory that hasn't affected the character, natural magnetism that makes the most anti-social characters open up as books. Not to mention that the idea of 'Mary Sue' plays into the current, left-wing political craze whereby a character isn't legitimate unless it's a deformed, LGTBQ+, African-Chinese, Demi-Pansexual unicorn attack helicopter.
@pugbutter
Think about this, though. Would the same group of characters appear more legitimate or interesting if they were ugly? If people are attracted to and obsess about beauty in real life, why wouldn't they in a fantasy? And the people behind the computer screes, who play these characters, are they not teenagers or young themselves? How much depth should you be able to expect from them? I'm not trying to be snarky here, genuinely interested in these questions.

And the version for public threads: when you read through a thousand interest checks until you finally find one which strikes a good balance between player freedom and a tight, focused plot, with an eloquent, engaging OOC thread, a passionate GM ...

but then you check out the Characters tab and realize you'd be roleplaying with a bunch of teenaged supermodels spending all their IC time shooting off "snarky" one-liners and generally being generic boring cunts with no personality, creativity, or vision.

The number of well-written, well-GMed threads ruined through the incompetence of the general public defies reality.

Then the majority of films and series must be painful for you to watch. It's truly annoying, indeed.

I'm not really sure where the idea of it being a hangar comes from. It's a garage, no airplanes anywhere, just cars. Did I write hangar?
@71452K
Good question! It's partially up to your judgement. We're obviously not a single-paragraph, speed posting roleplay. However, when the characters are in the same area, waiting for something to progress things, and when the situation is conversational, then you can post quite frequently. Seeing as the roleplay is inspired by Final Fantasy, character interaction is central. What I will do, basically, is to move us to distinct areas and hubs all the time, in which the characters can interact with each other.

To give an example of the no wait-policy. At the moment, my strongest 'no wait' is with @Mr Rage and @Rizza, as they're directly interacting with Celise at different capacities.
@Panko
Sure. My thought was that they've probably done some projects together, as some projects would've been Guardian-exclusive, and the Guardian population in each division isn't awfully large. And we can totally just leave it at that! They do seem to share an interest for the actual navigation part of the Navigation Division, from what I understood.

Most of the rooms at the dormitories would be single rooms. I imagine that there would be a few rooms designed for two people, but it would be for students that came as a couple, usually siblings. As for different programs and projectsβ€”yes, there can be some of these. You'd have to make them yourself, though, as thinking of all the possible combinations myself would be a daunting task. However, the academy would indeed encourage cross-division interaction outside of regular schooling.

Spirits are not corporeal. In past iterations of this roleplay, I've had creatures similar to summons that are massive congregations of spirits that do become physical entities, but I left that out this time around. Guardians, in a sense, is the physical manifestation of spirits, i.e., their corporeal form.

@Whoami
Hey, hey! β™₯
Looking forward to it! We need more lovely ladies in this.
@71452K
Pretty cool music in the post! Sounds very Final Fantasy. Also, posting images and such is fine, but do run it by the OOC so that I can edit it a bit!

@Rizza
No worries. You post when you can.

@Panko
Never too late to join! Character sheet looks good to me. I think we should need to talk about Abysso and Celise a bit! Please add the sheet to the character tab at your leisure. Don't forget to do some shopping for 1000 Gil!

@71452K
Hah, well, we want to get interaction going right off the bat. Keep things healthy!
