As amusing as Maeve found Calum's utter astonishment with the pastries to be, she could not deny that they looked scrumptious. The aroma of butter, almonds, and strawberries hit her nose, and although she wasn't nearly drooling like Calum, she did look fondly at the pastries. Growing up, she had never had treats such as this, and she still treated sweets as a delicacy.

She glanced at Calum for a moment before trying the pastry herself, noticing the way he gripped the counter as he ate. It brought another chuckle to her lips. The man may not have been wed, but she couldn't help but find him all but engaged to Nigel's wife's cooking. The experience looked practically religious to him. She then took a bite herself, her eyes widening slightly in surprise. It tasted even better than it smelled and looked.

"Aye, God is certainly present in de cookin' 'ere," Maeve agreed. As a Catholic, she believed in transubstantiation during Holy communion, and she couldn't help but feel she had found to Protestant equivalent. Calum couldn't have been more right--God had blessed Nigel's wife with an amazing skill. It certainly seemed to be the secret to a happy marriage for Nigel, and Maeve felt a moment of sadness, remembering her departed husband. They may not have been lovers all too long into the marriage, but she still missed him dearly and prayed for his soul.

As for whether or not they needed anything else, Maeve couldn't help but want a smoke and some drunken singing, but she doubted this inn was the place for that. She also was tired and exhausted from the journey, and couldn't help but look forward to the bath being drawn for her.

"Nothin' comes ter mind, t'anks," Maeve replied, and then she took another bite of the pastry.

Hey guys! As you know, Horrors of Coventry is one RP in the Abandoned Hope Universe. There is an upcoming RP that takes place in 1719 in the Caribbean, but it is still under development. However, BlueSky44 is hosting a RP that takes place just a few years after Coventry, around 2019, called X-Men: Darkness Rising. It's in the same universe as Abandoned Hope and has the same lore. Please do check it out!
@Witch Cat: On day 5
@FantasyChic: On day 4
@mnkee I mean, both options are certainly possible. :P Perhaps the disposal of Rutherford in exchange for her hand. We could do both options, one or the other, or neither. Any route is good with me. ^^
@Lady Amalthea Sigil and I are collabing Mary and Virginia.

@mnkee I've actually been considering having her approach the Talinks in regards to Rutherford. But at the same time, I can see her wanting to handle Rutherford by herself. She and Mosi already wanted to murder him, now with Mosi gone, I think she'd see it as her duty to Mosi to see it through.

However, I do think it's likely that when she confides in Alfred, he'd likely contact the Talinks to have them meet with her. But that would likely be something that we'd have to set up for day 2.

As for recognizing each other - didn't Thalken already see Virginia and not recognize her? So I don't really know if we could go that way, without me feeling like it's a near metagame. Ah, misread. It'd depend on how recent the last Crypt family hit was. Since before her parents vanished, Thalken's father would have met with Virginia's father.

I do have another idea, though, that could suffice. I believe @Sigil mentioned earlier either in the chat or in the OOC how marriage would solve a lot of Crypt family problems. And while Virginia isn't considering courtship, the Crypt family is fairly wealthy, has an earldom, connections, and so forth. Assuming her father is dead, the earldom should go to her five year old brother. But with life expectancy and Crypt family habits/hobbies, there's still a good chance that James might die before being able to possess the title, meaning it would go to Virginia - so from an outsider perspective, marrying off a son into the Crypt family could be incredibly beneficial. Especially since the Talink family sees them as more criminal.

We can PM and plot to get them to meet each other if you'd like, of course, but I think there's still a fair chance they'll run into each other before the day closes out. After all, she'll be the pale girl with corpses and axes. Definitely draws attention.

Another idea - if Virginia does send James off to train, she'll likely hold some sort of event to celebrate him leaving. The Talinks may be invited to that. It'd involve a good old mamushka, of course (though the British Crypts tend to use axes instead of knives, since most of them trained in the Colonies).

Sorry, this is getting scatterbrained lol.

Beatrice Decker

Location: The Rec Center (Building 7) ---> Beatrice's Apartment (Franklin Addition Building C3)

Ray had already gotten and grabbed cake for Tiffany and himself, with Beatrice half expecting him to trip and fall over himself once more. It was a bit surprising to her, how much Tiffany let herself be waited on, but she made no comment. She kept her slight judgments to herself. To each their own, after all. She had known people before the outbreak who dated just for the free food. It was perhaps the only kind of romance that she could understand.

Nodding her farewells to Ray and Tiffany, Beatrice went to the slight queue that had formed for cake. Taking a piece of cake when it was her turn, Beatrice figured that she may as well take it home with her. She had no intention of dancing and things were dying down at any rate. Plus, she didn't even enjoy weddings. There was no real reason for her to remain there. The bride and groom, from what she could tell, had already left, so she couldn't go to congratulate them. The pair of strangers over with James was interesting, but she felt tired and cold as well.

Leaving the rec center, Beatrice headed home with her peace of cake, deciding that she could consume it slowly while curled up in bed. Before the outbreak, she might have rented a horror movie to go with her sugary treat, but that was no longer quite possible. Life had turned into a horror movie of sorts, anyways. The walk home wasn't too long in her opinion, but she felt the bitter chill in the air, and she was glad to make it back to her apartment in the Franklin addition. She didn't know if the other apartment dwellers in the building were back from the reception yet, but she hardly cared.

Beatrice set her piece of cake down by her bed and changed into pajamas, her legs still feeling a bit chilled from exposure, but it was nothing curling up with a blanket wouldn't solve. Moving into her bed, she pulled her knees to her chest and took a moment to breathe, before smiling slightly to herself and taking the first bite of her piece of cake.

Her eyelids fluttered and she nearly moaned. "Damn that's good..." Beatrice murmured to herself, her mouth full of sugary goodness. Maybe weddings weren't so bad after all.

Ravi Chakrabarti

Location: The Rec Center (Building 7)

Ravi's stomach growled in appreciation as James handed him over a plate of some of the most delicious food he had ever seen in his life. It wasn't what he usually ate before, but he wasn't going to turn down smoked pig, cornbread, roasted sweet potatoes, and the rest. Even if it was poisoned or something, there was a high chance he'd still eat it. He'd try just about anything once.

"You do realize I lived in 'Merica before, mate?" Ravi asked, a bit incredulous. "I visited Nashville once on holiday. I tried the local cuisine." But he chuckled all the same, shaking his head at Gavin's antics. The man was incredibly passionate and today, the Southern food seemed to bringing out that passion. But to be honest, Ravi imagined Gavin would have been incredibly excited about any kind of food that looked this good and so nicely prepared. It beat trail mix baggies.

When Froggy returned with an elderly woman and Gavin wiped his hands on his pants, Ravi cringed. He didn't know why he expected much else, but he felt like even apocalyptic social etiquette would be to use a napkin or something, especially with everyone all decked out in their finery. Once he heard Miss Sally speak, hearing the accent, Ravi's eyes widened with joy, but he continued to cringe a bit in embarrassment from Gavin.

"I'm terribly sorry, he means well," Ravi said, teasing and excusing his friend simultaneously. He held out his hand to Miss Sally. "I'm Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti, it's a pleasure to meet you." It had been ages since he had heard another British accent and it definitely lifted his spirits even more. He once had had a nightmare, after all, that he started picking up Gavin's accent. It was a horrifying memory.

The mention of a bath and a bed to sleep in brought a smile to Ravi's face, with the cake Mike brought them stunning him beyond belief. These must have been the kindest people to ever walk the Earth, for all they had done for them so far. He didn't even know if he could ever return the favor for these people. "Thank you all so much, this place is bloody brilliant," Ravi said, waiting a moment before taking a bite into his cornbread.

He wasn't sure whether or not to tell Gavin that damn, the food was way better than the pub food he tried in Nashville almost a decade ago.
I think everyone should want to attend a dinner party with the Crypts! *nods*
