Nora Kingston

Location: the Museum

Nora couldn't help but be surprised by Lady Munn's suggestion. Would she be able to learn such an intricate and difficult language? She doubted that she could do it in a few sessions of study. It was a skill Nora was certain would take her years to acquire, years of rigorous study and inquiry. The confidence displayed on Neema's part was surprising as well. While Nora had studied mathematics and could detect patterns with the aid of references, she felt that languages were an entirely different skill in order to understand them without reference. They required memorization and constant repetition.

"Forgive me, I appear to have been lost in thought for a moment," Nora finally said. It wasn't entirely unusual for her to become intently focused on her own thinking and temporarily forget her surroundings. Nodding at Neema, she then motioned for her and Lauren to follow her, as she headed over towards where the tiles were kept. Nora was hesitant to touch the tiles directly without gloves, instead figuring that for now, they should be fine to remain on the table. She didn't want to ruin a priceless artifact, especially one of this importance.

"These are the tiles that Lady Munn examined the previous evening. I had begun to detect a cryptographic element in them that appeared to be the marking of a cipher, yet I was not able to make much progress beyond that," Nora said softly. She imagined that Vera and William would be exchanging words and that having her voice carry over to them may not be the best course of action. "There was the divine ratio -- phi."

The Port of Tortuga: April 4th, 1719 - 3:56 PM Local Time

Alisanne, or perhaps the figment of her, smirked with satisfaction. She saw the violence and rage dancing in Edgard's eyes. While she may have loved him, or at least, she felt something close to love for him, she enjoyed nothing more than tearing apart someone's mind. It was always a far sweeter method of torture than just spilling blood. Cut a man and he will heal. Break his mind and obliterate each little piece of sanity that remains? That's a lasting wound.

As the outburst came, Alisanne was grinning like a Cheshire cat. "Naze watashinojinsei wa anata ni totte kachi ga arimasu ka? Ai wa kodomo no gēmudesu," Alisanne whispered. "Edgard, why would you need to search for me? You only search for the missing and the dead, silly boy." She then winked at him before turning her attention to the other person there.

The brown skinned woman glanced over towards Edgard. There wasn't any trace of emotion on her face. No shock and confusion at seeing a man talking to a figment. Perhaps she could see Alisanne too, perhaps Alisanne really was there. At either rate, if Edgard couldn't trust his own mind, there was another human soul here to ask. Or to gut. It's hard to tell with the likes of Edgard at the end of the day which one will be more appealing.

The Devil's Triangle: April 4th, 1719 - 3:56 PM Local Time

Septima blinked once. Once factoring in the announcement of Anastasia's newfound power, she then considered their next course of action. Had the flask worked properly, it would have restored Anastasia to her body. Instead, it appeared to have granted her a power through her vessel. Given the deaths associated with the mortals who drank from it, the vessel wouldn't last long. They'd need to take advantage of this while they still were able to.

"It is an ancient magic, child," Septima said sternly, turning to look at Millicent. "I had hoped that we would be able to use it with a vessel. Instead, I think this vessel will expire soon." There had to be some way to take advantage of Anastasia's newfound abilities, but they couldn't leave the island. It'd be a waste of a warm body otherwise and only result in another ghost vying for the flask's power.

"See if you could leave the island in the vessel," Septima suggested. If so, and if she is as fast as she claimed, there should be no trouble in running across the water to Tortuga and retrieving their corpses. Perhaps the flask needed to be applied directly. "If you can, get our bodies. Maybe the flask needs to touch them directly." Sirena will manage to find the others this round.
Hey everyone! I could’ve sworn I posted this but we’ll be following the Lady A break schedule - I have my hardest midterms at the end of this week and start of next so I don’t have a lot of time spent not studying. That being said, I’ll try to get a post up if everyone has posted

(That’s a posting break till the 2nd and resuming counters on the 3rd)

@Gilgex Like a once every two week post. Not the old every day.

Jenna Westbrook

Location: Inside Town Hall

Jenna paused for a moment as she heard the officers entering. A simple text wouldn't be enough to make them go away and while she could come up with a plausible explanation for being inside, she didn't want to try her luck any further. She needed to get to the shop across town and learn more about what exactly Mayor Ryder had gotten himself mixed up with. No helpful ghosts were around to give her hints as to her next move, but she spotted a set of windows. She could probably climb through those and slip away. She'd just need to hope no cops were waiting outside.

It was a toss up as to whether or not it'd be better to get caught inside or outside. Deciding to try her luck, Jenna made a quiet dash for the windows, feeling relieved when she found they were unlocked. Opening up the window slowly, she tried to avoid it creaking, imagining that no one had oiled the hinges in ages. It seemed like the type of cleaning task that would be neglected. Once open, Jenna then carefully hoisted herself up and climbed out of it, hoping that she had been fast enough to avoid the officers finding her.

Guinevere Stark

Location: The X-Van
{"It's an imperfect world but it's the only one we've got."}

Most likely would've blushed at Ayita's comment about their new significant other. Guin however couldn't help but crack a grin, chuckling at Ayita's observation. She wasn't wrong--Guin did have an odd taste in men. She used to somehow explain it off as her father's karma, after everything he had done throughout his life. She tended to be attracted to inappropriate guys--in Pietro's case, he was the son of a terrorist. He fit the bill.

Guin listened with mild interest to Allison's bubbly ramble, but she raised an eyebrow at the tone of disdain from one of the new members, Charlie. People tended to romanticize this sort of operations. Everyone expected the top team to fit a certain image, to have a certain set of skills. And yes, the X-Men were one beautiful mess of a group, but that didn't make them any less effective. They may have lost the battle at the power plant, but that didn't mean they'd lost the war. Ragtag groups of people trying to make a difference, in Guin's opinion, had a better success rate than most people would expect.

"I agree with Ayita. We need to organize based off of powers and capabilities. It'll be the most effective strategy that way," Guin pointed out. "As it stands, the teams are imbalanced. Each team should have someone with chemical training on it--so any S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, as things stand. And of course, you have to consider who can work together. Pietro's great and all, but should I be working with him? Fuck no. And then there's You-Know-Who--again, another bad partnership. Ayita and Damon would make sense to be on the same team, as their abilities compliment each other. New recruits also shouldn't be concentrated in one spot--they need experienced people with them."

~remember, some of you were sent information as to what you know about the Mullo and Hel via PM a while back...~
Outside of Coventry...

"Why are you on the run?" Guin countered, raising an eyebrow at Carolina. Even with the low lighting of the woods, Guin's face was incredibly expressive. Her pale features were illuminated by the bits of light that came in through the trees. It definitely had put her on the defensive however, Carolina's question. Yet given who her mother was, it made sense. Carolina's ask about parent troubles basically tipped Carolina's hand, admitting that she knew who Guin was. People who knew who her parents were tended to try to take advantage of that.

Within Coventry...

As the mullo strangled Lilith, attempting to drain her of her life force, another body hit the ground. Lilith's knife was imbedded in her heart, the blood blossoming out and staining her shirt. Eyes that were once so vibrant, filled with passion and courage, were now dim. A mind that idealized service and justice, protection and kindness, was nothing more than a clump of grey matter. Aloise Zamora, ex-Marine, had survived the apocalypse. She had come back from the dead after being killed in combat, more determined than ever before to be a light in the darkness.

Yet rather than have a hero's death, she died at the hands of an ally.

Like Millicent, Seraphina was not able to get a clean angle of attack on the mullo. Driving her blade forward would easily injure and potentially kill Lilith as well. It'd be a choice between the lesser of two evils, at least for now. Katsumi's knife throw had a similar outcome--it narrowly missed the mullo, but it almost hit Lilith. It ended up clattering to the floor about seven feet behind Katsumi's target, but at least no one had been hurt. As for Eudora, the attack spell had no effect on the mullo. Perhaps it's resistant to the spell, perhaps Eudora's concentration wasn't enough. It could be either of those two at this point. The mullo still is in the process of choking Lilith, but Lilith is staying surprisingly strong for now. Unconsciousness hasn't yet set in.

"Amiyra, it looks like you," Fairfax observed. The mullo paused for a second, its grip on Lilith loosening, before it resumed its murderous attempts a moment later.

"That's my ancestor," Folly said quietly. "The one who burned Coventry to the ground - the one they call curse."
@Gilgex Yes, I would be - but time wise, I couldn't keep up with another RP that has a weekly posting cycle. It'd have to be something super laid back and casual.
