Hey everyone, I'm back.

I have some low priority pushes to make like updating the homepage. But I'm also gearing up for a platform upgrade in the Guild's underlying software stack.

I'll have to read the last 100 posts in this thread or so to remember where I was at mentally before my break. I have a dozen work-in-progress features on my computer and I don't remember which one is the closest to being done.

If I recall correctly, the email system was my main priority before I had to leave.

The GM thread management tools was something that you were also working on previously. The ability to remove posts by GMs are one of our highest request and it would give more control and management to the members.

The more a thread details the more it shows that maybe the original topic has been discussed and explored enough. People are trying to see if any other information is relevant, even if they gotta branch into other areas.

You are correct, it does not. But you did not specify that in your post. You simply said "straight men looking to write smut with someone else".

That's more an unfortunate part in word choice and the ability to convey messages on a forum. Some people will still talk in male/female directives, while others will include all gender identities—personal preference and wording habbits. Cast your range too wide and people believe you're over complicating too much, too thin and you get told you're a narrow minded individual.

I think what's more important is the underlying meaning that someone is expressing, not a choice in a single word that apparently breaks down the entire argument when pulled apart and analysed. He's not stating your decisions and choices are wrong, just that there are other views to take into consideration.

I'm a bisexual woman and I Roleplay with all genders equally. When I was younger, I might have been more inclined to Roleplay with females though. My reasons would be entirely comfort based as I was sexually abused by a male as a child and encountered (vastly male) perverts while on the internet which was a little scary for a thirteen-year-old. In my opinion, abuse and bad experiences are entirely valid reasons to request NOT Roleplaying with one gender.

Could it be ignorant? Yes, it can be. We still have to remember that the Guild does cater to a wide range of ages and backgrounds, however, and we should at least attempt to be open-minded. If someone requests to only Roleplay with one gender, then that is entirely their choice. Roleplayers have the right to preferences, after all.

To start off, I'm really sorry to learn that you got abused when younger. So my sympathies go to you.

That said, this is a reason (I never thought of) as to why people may be selective and both sexist. As you said you were wary of makes, and as much as that is a reason there are 100 more that fit this category of thinking and are not necessarily sexist. Yes it may limits one's options but there's no point in placing your personal self in an uncomfortable state just because others say that you must treat all equally.

@Altered TundraAs evidenced by this very thread, some people change their minds and are willing to let go of these kinds of restrictions. It's not like the discussion isn't worth having just because most people aren't going to flip sides.

I do think these discussions are very necessary and it also allows people to vent out frustrations that may be built up over months or years. To be really truthful, I had no idea what gender identity was until maybe 18 months ago, pushing up to two years. I'm thirty and and for up to 28 years male is male, female is female, gays are fags, V8s, beers, burnouts, fucken sick Australia brosky, bla, bla, bla. We had a national survey recently on whether homosexuals should be allowed to marry and the propaganda and confusion was through the roof, not to mentioned it cost billions because the government can't make up their mind. I will say I ended up letting my sister fill out my form cause she's more logical in these situations and her opinion was probably better than mine as I was on the fence about it.

So it is hard for me in some cases to understand what the problem is because we do have a specific culture in Australia and any sexism debates here are actually a newer thing (or completely ignored), and I can say that I'm only half an hour from bogan central which is equivalent to your US rednecks.

So pretty much, my view is something that could change in the future, but it may not be something that will change overnight due to a few people's opinions. Afterall we are constantly learning and have to adjust and understand these views at our own, personal pace.
