Current New Schedule for my RP friends. My goal is 1 reply a day, total. Meaning that of my 4 current ongoing RPs, each partner can expect a reply once every 4 days. Maybe more often if I'm inspired.

I think it's funny how worried I was about catching up on posts. I caught up in a day and am now bored waiting for replies!

So just popping into say I am still here, I am still going to keep participating, just been working on a solo-writing project more recently and this RP slowed down a fair bit, but I'll try to get a post up either tomorrow or Wednesday

Congrats on the kiddo @Haeo
Mergoux wasn't entirely sure why she'd chosen the name Ezra, only that she couldn't afford to give either her old name, or her current one. Thalia Coldstone no doubt was on record somewhere in the North for previous military service, but that had been half a century ago. She'd put that behind her. Right now all she was doing was signing up to kill some Orcs. She wasn't going to be a part of the army again, not properly. This was just out of convenience as opposed to a desire to be a part of something again.

As she was about to depart, a stranger ran up to them, gasping for breath after having seemingly run quite a way. Mergoux regarded him carefully. He had the look of someone used to working hard for their pay, but what kind of work she couldn't immediately tell. Regardless Hark hired him on the spot. Another body for the battlefield. The man had been rather flamboyant about his introduction and continued on to argue Hark's deal, promised to all those who'd signed on.

Mergoux narrowed her eyes under the helm. The man was charming, but it was obvious to her, and hopefully to her commander, that the deal now offered was a bit to sweet. It struck her as the deal a man makes when all he seeks is profit. Fight a battle, stick to the rear and survive, then filch all the best loot while everyone who actually fought is getting patched up. She decided then that she would keep an eye on the man, trusting him less even than she trusted the rest of the louts in her company.

Command, something she hadn't held in over half a century. The Grandmaster had assigned her command of the rest of the recruits without barely more than a cursory glance over her. She wasn't sure if this was a sign he was a fool, or much smarter than the average man. On the one hand giving command so readily was a risky tactic, but then maybe he was wise enough to see that she was probably the best choice to lead the rest of the recruits. The others were simple farmers, laborers or the like. People who'd never fought a day in there lives. Sure there were one or two rough and tumble lads there, a boy craving adventure, a older man who had the slouch of a worn-down guard, but she could tell that many of these men would not return. Not without more training than she could hope to offer.

Taking her role seriously however, she looked over the group and picked the two leaders she thought best. One was the older guardsman, the other a slight man who claimed to have experience living in the wilds. She wasn't entirely happy with her choices, but given what she had they would have to manage.

Later, as pay was being handed out, Mergoux collected hers, but instead of slipping it into her already fairly hefty coin-purse, she took it and handed five coins each to her chosen team leaders with a command. "Do your shopping, buy everyone a round and donate what's left of this to the local orphanage." she said. "And if I find out you didn't follow orders, you'd better hope you can choke down the rations without any teeth." Her voice was a low snarl, and though both men had nursed ideas about betraying her woman's trust, those now vanished entirely.

Turning around, she saw Hark approach her. She folded her arms in a standoffish manner and waited for him to speak. He wanted her name, but she was not going to give it. Better to remain partly anonymous. "Ezra. Ezra Creed" she replied shortly. "Will that be all sir?" she asked, wanting to find a tavern and a good pint before retiring for the night.
@Overlord Thraka oh gotchea sorry bout that and is that what you character looks like or is it the other picture?

It's all good.

Both are commissions I've had done, just by different artists for different reasons. The armored one is what she looks like to y'all currently, the other one I posted before was specifically done to show what she looked like under the helmet.
@Elevation and everyone else in the thread.

I should have clarified Mergoux's helmet situation. It's not a full-face helm.

This is a commission I had done of Mergoux. I'll post it here and add it to the CS too, just so y'all get a good idea of what she looks like in armor without me going into a hugely detailed post about it.
There! CS is up!

I should stress that Mergoux, while renowned to some extent, is much more of a local legend than someone known world-wide. Hopefully this'll all work out with what lore goes on here and we can keep it rolling effectively and enjoyably!

Name: Thalia Coldstone
Current Alias: Mergoux the Butcher
Age: 87

Status: Mergoux is wanted in some parts of the world as a serial killer, after murdering several corrupt politicians and officials of a small town in the North.

Bio: Little is known about the woman known as The Butcher. She has been active for over fifty years now, and has achieved moderate renown among small towns and villages she's passed through. Many masters of the sword claim to have taught her, though none can ever say they've seen her face. What is known is that the woman is a killer, through and through, but not one of evil intent. Though often wanted by the law, she is praised by the townsfolk for her deeds. She is a butcher, a sadistic killer, but her prey is never the innocent. Instead she protects them from those who would harm them, be they outlaw bandits, or corrupt officials. She's been on the prowl for over fifty years now, and still going strong. To this effect she is known not to be human, but then... no Elf is so sturdy, no dwarf so tall. So what could she be?

Equipment: Mergoux wields a greatsword in battle, but is adept with any sword or dagger. To this affect she keeps a pair of long knuckle-daggers by her side as well, for close quarters combat. Her armor is surprisingly light, made heavy enough to protect her well, but also light enough for her to be mobile and agile. Her helmet is arguably her most important item however, for she never takes it off in front of anyone. No-one has seen her face and lived to tell the tale in five decades. Throughout the years she has also acquired a fair amount of money, either taking from the corpses of bandits, or taking a small portion from excess taxes, stolen by officials and returned to the people after the official's head is removed. She is far from rich, but money is rarely a problem for her lifestyle of moving tavern to tavern and town to town.

Skills:
Bladeswoman - Mergoux is an expert with all manner of knives, daggers and swords of all size. Having been practicing the art for over 60 years, as well as finding a natural affinity for the weapons, there are few who can rival her in bladecraft.
Tough - Mergoux's resistance to pain is above normal standards. It's not that she doesn't feel it, but more that she has the physical and mental strength to power through it beyond what most normal people could stand. While your average warrior would fall back after breaking their arm, Mergoux would usually prefer to pull out a shorter weapon and keep fighting.
Crossbow - Though not as adept with this weapon as she is with Swords, Mergoux is still a crack-shot with a crossbow.
Survival - Mergoux lives between towns, never taking residence and not able to keep much on her person at all times. This means she's often found herself in the wilderness with dwindling food, shelter and the like. She's long since overcome that and become an excellent survivalist, able to cook hearty meals from what only nature can offer, as well as survive cold nights with little more than a blanket and the wild's gifts.
Half-breed - As a Half-Elf, Mergoux takes both positives and negatives from either species, but through resolute training she has managed to weed out most weaknesses, and a good set of genetics don't hurt. Her rigorous exercise combined with her father's inherited power has given her strength, while her mother's Elven grace has granted her agility.

@Lucius Cypher

That's the idea actually yeah. She's caught half way. She'll never live anywhere near as long as an Elf, but will live far longer than a human. The idea is that she's currently 87, but physically about 30, aging about 1/3rd of the human rate. If that's all good then I'll post the CS in a bit
@Lucius Cypher there are a few things I'd need to okay with you lot. Biggest of which would be if long-lived half-elves
Yo. I am OT. I'm gonna give this a go.

I've not read all the previous pages, but I intend to in time. Hopefully where I jumped in won't put Mergoux too out of place.
