WOOOOO! LET'S GOOOO BOIS!

I think I'll wait for one or two other people to post before I go in with Merg. My plans might cause a little... disruption.
I see. I don't really like most Isekai works, as they waste perfectly good story ideas.

I think they work better for comedic purposes than actual drama. Scoobynatural is one example of what I think is great Isekai style works. Taking Sam, Dean and Cass from Supernatural, an already humorous and 4th-wall-breaking show, and then putting them inside a Scooby-Doo cartoon was genuinely hilarious
Updated my character post, inspired by @Aqutanama's character, I added some flaws.
Name: Mergoux
Age: 87
Physical Description: Mergoux stands at six feet tall. She is lithe and lean, her body hard with muscle. Her black hair flows a little past her shoulder and portions of it are usually braided to keep out of her face. Her face would be pretty but for the scar that runs down from just under her left eye to her jaw, along with the fact that Mergoux never, ever, smiles. Her ears are long and pointed like her elven mother's, and are laden heavily with piercings. Studs and rings in gold, silver, and platinum.

Tattoos decorate her body as well, though most are covered by the armor she almost always wears over her thick, leather jerkin. Of the ones ever visible are the dwarven runes on her chin, reading 'Butcher' and the intricate ones on either arm. Starting with manacles tattooed at the wrist, chains wrap halfway up her arm, only to break at the elbow, shattering and morphing into vines that reach up and spill across her upper chest. On either shoulder, the vines wrap around two symbols. One is a circle of eight coins, the other a flower with eight petals. Finally, on the back of her neck, nearly always covered by her hair, there is a slaver's branding mark.

Important items: Mergoux's most treasured possessions are but three.
1. She wields a large, two-handed sword she named 'Talon'. Expertly crafted and enchanted to make it lighter, she strikes with uncanny speed and skill, born of carrying the blade for over half a decade.
2. Her crossbow of dwarven design. Though a bit larger and ungainly, the weapon is surprisingly quick to load and above all, powerful and accurate at long range. What's more, Mergoux is a crack shot.
3. The Safeguard, a spiked helmet of magical origin. Wearing it conceals most of Mergoux's face and head, allowing her to pass for human with ease. What's more, the steel is enchanted with a spell that negates any kinetic energy that impacts it. An arrow would fall lifeless to the ground, a powerful mace blow would merely result in a slight clunk of metal on metal.

Short Bio: Born as Thalia Coldstone to Jared and Elaina Coldstone, an unusual pairing of an Elf and a Human, Thalia did not much enjoy her childhood. Raised in a rather narrow-minded village, she was bullied often and cruelly by the other children for her half-breed nature. Finally it all culminated in several older boys beating on the then 8-year old Half-Elf. It is said perhaps this is where the got her facial scar. Soon after, the Coldstones left down and headed off to live with Elaina's family. They never arrived, for their caravan was attacked by marauding bandits. Thalia was forced to watch her parents die in front of her, and was then taken as a slave by those who had attacked and killed the only family she knew.

The next twelve years were hard for the girl, working under a cruel master, a self-proclaimed Bandit King, hiding deep within the mountains. During that time she worked hard as a labor slave in the cold mountain air, building up her body's strength and resilience until the King himself decided he'd sooner have the unusual young woman as his own 'personal attendant'. She fought back, and it is rumored this is where she received her scar. Two years later, she escaped, mutilating the Bandit King in the process, leaving him cursed to hobble along on one leg for the rest of his life, the other ruined by a blow to the knee by a mace.

She came close to death on the mountainside but was rescued by a group of mercenaries. They nursed her back to health and took her to the local Lord, where with her help they located the Bandit King's stronghold and destroyed it.

After that, Thalia joined the local army. Proving to be a natural with a blade, over the next five years she advanced in rank to that of Sergeant, until one day she and her unit came upon a small encampment of Bandits, many of whom had served under the Bandit king. Against previous orders to scout and observe and wait for backup, Thalia lead her unit into battle against the bandits. She lost half of her twelve men, and when reinforcements arrived to witness the acts of violence and cruelty she was showing the captured bandits, her time in the army was over.

After leaving the army, no-one heard from her for nearly a decade until one day, she turned up again. She claimed a dead or alive bounty on a bandit, and when asked to give her name for the reward, she replied Mergoux. Thalia Coldstone was gone, now there was Mergoux. The next fifty years were marked with blood. Quickly acquiring the moniker of 'The Butcher' for her sadistic, violent tendencies, Mergoux carved her way across the outer lands. She killed not for money, not for fame or glory, not even because she enjoyed doing it, though she did. She killed to prevent what had happened to her from happening to anyone else. She killed to stop cruelty, to protect the weak. She didn't even stop at simple bandits and maruaders. More than a few tyrannical officials of villages and towns wound up losing their head to her blade, the number of legal slavers killed by her numbers in the dozens.

Now, she comes to the city, hearing of a massive slave auction and hoping to put some kind of a stop to it. With her talent for violence, she is confident that she'll be able to at least put a dent in the slavers numbers.

Starting Faction: Independent. Mergoux is an outsider, with no loyalties to any faction inside Vendig upon her arrival. That may change as she learns about them however...

Bumping this
@ALonelyParrot That's fine, though she caved the biggest man's head in with her boot, not her head
The morning was drawing to a close, but the day was still stretched ahead of her. Mergoux left the square, darting nimbly between people in the crowds, swiftly vanishing from sight as she plotted her afternoon. A meal, then perhaps some hunting before she left the next day. She hadn't been in the city long, but she'd found a few dives where she likely wouldn't be recognized, or at the very least not bothered.

Her path took her down a narrow alley, dimly lit and grubby. The tall buildings drenched the cobbles in shadow, even as the sun shone overhead, almost at it's zenith. Mergoux liked this alley, as much as she allowed herself to like anything in this city. The alley attracted all the wrong kinds of attention for most folk, but for the Butcher, it was exactly what she wanted.

As she approached the halfway mark, a dirty-looking figure stepped from a doorway and blocked her path. Moments later, another stepped out behind her, effectively trapping her in. The man in front of her was weedy-looking. Obviously an abuser of some kind of substance, his breath reeking of alcohol and rotting teeth. "Alright, y'know th' drill. 'And over all yer coin, else I'll stick ya wif' ol' betsy." he grunted. 'Old Betsy' appeared to be a rather well-made looking short sword. It was rusty and chipped yes, but the underlying gleam of the metal and the ornateness of the hilt made Mergoux think it was not something the man had come in to by any legal dealing.

She felt the man behind her step closer, then felt the tip of a dagger pressed between her shoulder-blades. "Do 'as 'e said." said a gravelly voice. Judging by where it came from, the man was taller than her, likely more muscular too, but that also would likely make him slower. Mergoux felt that rush that only oncoming violence could give as she opened her mouth to speak. "No."

She jolted forwards, then pivoted suddenly, taking both men by surprise. At first the thinner man had raised his own weapon to defend himself, while the bigger one made a clumsy grab. However as she ducked under his stubby fingers, her boots ground against the cobble. Her arm raised itself, elbow moving to the appropriate height as with a dull thunk she caught the bigger man in the jaw, right where she'd heard his voice emit. The dagger fell from his hand as he staggered back, but it did not reach the ground.

Mergoux ducked, predicting the would-be-mugger's actions perfectly. She tucked and rolled as he brought down the shortsword in an overhead swing that missed entirely. Coming up with the bigger man's dagger in her left hand, now facing the skinny one, she darted forwards as the mugger attempted to recover from his overswing. Too late however as his accomplice's weapon buried itself in his side. He fell with a cry of pain as blood leaked onto his shirt, staining brown cloth red.

The big man was still splayed across the alley, groggily rubbing his possibly broken jaw. The woman had hit him harder than he could remember, stars dancing in his vision as pain throbbed in his skull. That was only the beginning though, as while his friend lay bleeding out, the Butcher loomed over him. He saw her raise her boot, blocking out what he could see of the sky as it came down on his face.

_________

Mergoux walked from the alley, leaving a trail of bloody footprints behind her for a few paces, before the dirt of life in the city coated her soles once more, and she walked off to enjoy good meal at a small tavern that made especially good roasted raccoon.
So just popping into say I am still here, I am still going to keep participating, just been working on a solo-writing project more recently and this RP slowed down a fair bit, but I'll try to get a post up either tomorrow or Wednesday

Congrats on the kiddo @Haeo
