It's incredible how if you give someone just the tiniest bit of power over others they'll turn into the most self-righteous, selfish, impatient fuckers you will ever meet.

How are some writers on this site still incapable of knowing how a comma works?! It's like the second easy piece of punctuation you learn about as a kid!!!

It'll always be confusing to me when some people regard two or three sentences in an IC post as putting in effort with the writing, yet they consider themselves at a casual/advanced level.

Alright, I think I've got everyone! Apologies if I missed anyone off. The OOC and Character Sheet is live, so you guys can go on over and start on your characters.

September 1957. A new school year begins at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and as far as the students and faculty are concerned, it'll be a fairly uneventful and standard year. As uneventful as the wizarding world can be, anyway - barring the soporific classes of Professor Binns, and the nearly equally as mind-numbing studying sessions set in place for upcoming exams, life at Hogwarts was not known to be dull. Between the wonders of performing magic in various classes; fighting for the Quidditch and House cup; witnessing Professor Kettleburn fight hand-to-claw with an annoyed Griffin for the third time that year, and students attempting to join the exclusive "Slug Club" to rub shoulders with the exquisite and famous... there is plenty of excitement to be found at any time in the ancient school. However, this year in particular brings with it new adventures for the students. Some of it planned, made to teach and fill with wonder. Other parts of it more sinister, and sure to sow seeds of dissent and paranoia amongst the school.

Welcome all, to another year at Hogwarts! Our plot will start off on the Hogwarts Express, approaching the school as a way for everyone to settle into their character's shoes nice and comfortably. I won't give away too much of the overall plot as of yet, as I'd like to keep some surprises. Below you'll find information about the lore, rules for playing, and the character sheet. I hope you all enjoy this roleplay!

Rules! Please read them all before starting your character sheet.

General Rules:
  • Standard Forum rules apply.
  • What I says goes. If I want you gone, you go. Please do us all a favour and not make a scene when this occurs, otherwise Mods will get involved.
  • If you feel you have been treated unfairly by myself, rejected for no good reason, or would like feedback/reasons for anything, please feel free to PM me. No matter what has occurred in the OOC, I will always answer PMs. Unless it's like, a drunken rant or something. In which case, I'll ignore you. XD
  • Co-GMs are to be respected! While I have final say, they will be permitted to constructively criticise character sheets, call out bad behaviour, and prod people when they become inactive.
  • On that note, respect everyone in the OOC. I don't want bickering clogging up the roleplay. If you have a genuine problem with another roleplayer, please PM all of the GMS and let us sort it.
  • This is an apply roleplay! Do not post your finished character sheet in the character tab unless it has been accepted. Finished characters may be submitted in the OOC, or via PM to myself.

Characters & Posting:
  • No God Modding. Should go without saying, but you never know.
  • No Mary/Gary-Sue characters, self-inserts, or anything along that vein. I want some realistic, balanced and preferably original characters.
  • *sigh* I can't believe I'm having to put this as a rule, but no plagiarism. Doing so will result in an automatic rejection, but pleas will be heard via PM. (Not including something along the lines of putting your wand description from Pottermore in your sheet - something like that is fine.)
  • More rules in regards to character creation can be found in the character sheet.
  • I'll be looking closely at characters related to canon characters. It'll be unavoidable in some cases, considering how much crossover the Pureblood families have. Still, I'll be monitoring them and deciding as they come if I'll allow the relation or not.
  • I'm not allowing Half-Breeds at the moment, due to the likelihood it's only done to make a character more "In-Depth" or "Different". I'd prefer people to write their characters without using lycanthropy or distant relation to a gnome as a plot point or way of explaining why said character is so perfect/angsty/a loner/etc. That said, if you have a particularly good idea involving half-breeds, send me a PM about it with your finished CS. I'm not totally unreasonable.
  • I expect at least two well-written paragraphs per post. This is a Casual roleplay, so I expect correct English spelling, correct grammar, a use of complex/compound sentence structures and realistic character development. To correctly gauge your writing standard, I'd like a writing sample. The writing prompt and where to put the sample is somewhere in the first OOC page.
  • Please read all of the IC posts before you post yourself. You could be missing valid information or interactions with your own character if you skip them.

The Story:
  • Romance will be allowed, but no sex scenes please. Dealing with "Won-Won" and "Lav-Lav" in the books was sickening enough without having to deal with teenage sex.
  • I don't have any qualms about graphic gore scenes or swearing; what I will not allow are slurs (Other than Mudblood, I guess) or other similar discriminatory language. If I see anything like that, even if it comes from a perhaps racist character, both the character and the writer will be punished.
  • This is set in 1957, so for those with Muggle-Born or Half-Blood parentage, don't be mentioning things like iPhones and modern-day pop culture references. If you mention something not invented or created before 1957, you'll be asked to change it. Also, to find out the writing prompt for your sample, view the raw code of this post by clicking "Raw" in the top right corner.
  • While I won't be using rolls to determine the outcome of actions in this roleplay, I would still like to see some realism. Magic won't solve absolutely everything, so don't use it as your ex machina. In action scenes, your character won't be able to duel several opponents simultaneously without receiving so much as a scratch. I suppose this ties in with the Mary-Sue rule, but just keep it in mind.

@valckyriie

I would recommend waiting for the character sheet to be released before submitting anything, but as the good man says above - there's absolutely no reason for your character to be an Animagus. It's hard to achieve, and it seems unlikely that her parents would aid her in becoming one at such a young age.
@TheHangedMan

We're certainly still open!

As for the opening date, I'm working on the OOC as we speak. Character Sheet skeleton is done, if a little unformatted. I'll try and get this done today, but if I do, I'll likely be inactive for a couple of days just to get my work done on time. Look at me, top-notch GM and putting you guys before my deadline!
@valckyriie

As the good Captain said, the OOC hasn't been made as of yet. When it's up, I'll be letting everyone interested in the thread know.
@HushedWhispers

Thanks for the update - I think you should be fine though, as the IC certainly won't be starting for at least another one and a half weeks.
@Furiosa@EldarionI

There's certainly room, and happy for more applicants!
I have a day off work on sunday, so I'll try and get the OOC/Character Sheet up then for you guys instead of waiting until the sixth. At least you can make your characters while you're waiting for things to properly kick off.
Charlie Farrier

Location: The X-Van

Waiting nervously for the sign to go, Charlie glanced at his new partners. Cassandra; no powers, but she seemed very capable. Having a S.H.I.E.L.D agent like her was comforting, regardless of whether or not she was a human. If it came to it, Charlie could always try and protect her from the bad guys with his fire. Would she need protecting? Or was he just the burden to the team, being the new kid? Would his powers even be useful against the people they'd be fighting? "Avalanche" probably had cold-related powers, and fire was always a good protector against that. But Charlie was beginning to have doubts over whether or not he'd be able to actually roast someone alive on purpose without feeling bad about it afterwards.

"Is this a bad time to mention I've never attacked someone before? On purpose, I mean." He whispered to Oshea, wondering if the speedster had ever harmed someone for the good of the world. In terms of morals, it made sense; the many before the few, and all that. But there was still something unsettling about being used as a living flamethrower.

Nina van Essenhout

Location: The X-Van

As she waited for Carolina to finish her job, Nina considered the foes waiting inside. The two unknowns were a problem, seeing as Pietro couldn't recall what they looked like, what their powers were or just how powerful they were. As for the rest, she thought she'd have a fighting chance against most. For Toad and Avalanche, if she could get to them before they could even use their powers, knocking them out and neutralising them would be child's play. Blob would prove to be more problematic... as would sabertooth. From what she could recall, the latter had superstrength like her. The only advantage she'd have over the beast would be her brains, and even without having met him, it would be safe to say she certainly outsmarted him.

"And then there's Scarlet Witch." glancing at Pietro, Nina wondered what he would do if he came up against his sister - or even father. Would he go too easy on them, risking the lives of the team? Or would he defect once again, crawling back to his family using an excuse of "infiltrating the enemy" in answer to his actions? Either way, she couldn't rely on him entirely, and he certainly had a lot to prove. Hopefully if his sister did appear, she'd focus more on him than anyone else. After all, siblings do enjoy fighting each other, no matter the age.
