@Old Amsterdam@floodtalon@Spiffy@Leaves@Demon Shinobi It's been 8 days, so let's try to get some posts up. I know a couple of you are making plans still on where to go and with who, but we need to get the show on the road, if you would please.
The Cereal Killer

@Lugubrious@BCTheEntity

Runch suddenly stopped in his tracks, ceasing the pursuit of the young college representative. That icy chill, the sensation that made his hair stand on end, it was back. Not that he needed to rely on gut instinct to realize his critical mistake. The new manifestations of the stand were making their presence quite clear, throwing open doors and windows to enter. He briefly wondered why they bothered, since his experience with stands and the journal indicated that they could pass harmlessly through physical objects. Then the boy spoke to him in such a dramatic manner, and Runch understood. It was showmanship. The kid was making sure Runch knew that he was surrounded again. It was sort of like a friendly gesture in a way, if you thought about it from the right point of view. The kid was making up for his lack of a sixth sense to see these supernatural beings. The words that followed explained to him exactly why he needed Runch to know he was surrounded by the Boys of Summer.

"Omnomnomnom!" the pirate laughed, brimming with confidence. He narrowed his eyes in the direction he assumed one of the shadowy ghosts could possibly be, judging by the doorways. "Not a scumbag indeed! Just a young one concerned for his sister. Be glad that I see through your tough guy ruse, and that I'm easy to let threats slide off. Had you chosen another pirate from my world... Well, the smiles of children are what motivate me more than anything else. Just tell the rest of your splinter faction that I will win, and they have nothing to fear from my wish."

The pirate turned toward the nearest window, seeing it as an easier and quicker exit than the stairs down to the first floor. He took three steps, likely causing one of the Boys of Summer to narrowly avoid touching him, when he turned sharply back around to address the same location he had been speaking to previously. "And please, don't interrupt any of my fights in the tournament. I like the bouts to be fair and square." With that final warning, cap'n K. Runch threw himself out the window, falling back down toward the outside battle scene.

From his palm he projected a pile of cereal to cushion his fall, even if he could have landed without injury, and took a moment to observe his surroundings. Motley Crue had taken up position near the water and had his eyes on the girl. She looked quite worse for wear, covered in cuts, bruises, and bleeding more than a little. Thankfully he could tell that she was alive. Runch could only imagine the retaliation they would face if Motley had killed her, but more importantly that meant one more smile would be extinguished from this world.

"Mister Crue! Break off from your engagement!" he cried out in as authoritative a voice as he could muster. His next action would be a bit of a gamble. There was no reason to doubt that the Boys of Summer had surrounded the girl in order to neutralize any attacks thrown her way, but he just had to trust in the information the journal provided. They should only step in to interfere in the face of misfortune. The captain wound up his hand like a baseball pitcher, then swung her way as hard as he could. " Bori bori cannon: Bloodberry recipe!"

A large blood red cereal pellet shot forth from his hand, the size of a large cannonball. It streaked toward her at great speed, but there was little to no force behind the throw, for the cereal had been made soft and mushy. Even if it struck her square in the face, it should only splatter into a slurry-like consistency. Assuming the stand of her brother didn't intercept, he'd go on to explain. "That's my special bloodberry recipe, delicious as it is nutritious! It'll stimulate your healing process and restore your stamina in record time! Omnomnomnomnom! Your brother retreated, so you should go catch up to him, lassy."

Through it all Runch spoke with a goofy, pleased smile, like he was quite proud of himself.
@Nymeria Ah, I see. So then my idea of a character couldn't work here. I was thinking of a thief that stole a real elite hunter's invitation to the guild who decided to go anyway because, "Hell, I'll make some easy money conning these idiots that think magic monsters exis-OHSHITOHSHITOHSHITTHAT'SAREALWEREWOLF!"

I'll see if I can think of a different sort of character that speaks to me, but don't let me hold up getting the game started if I don't throw out a CS immediately.
@Nymeria Some questions on some of the creatures for better clarification to determine my final interest.

  • Though there is mention of fire, no mention is made of sunlight as a vampiric weakness. Am I correct in assuming this means that these more closely resemble the original vampire myths that didn't care about the time of day?
  • What inspired you to use the wendigo, a myth of the Native Tribes of the Great Lakes, in a European medieval fantasy setting? I also see that these wendigo are greatly inspired by Until Dawn.
  • All your example images of witches are female, in line with modern popular depiction. Are all witches female? Historically, the term used to be gender neutral.
  • How well known is it that these magical creatures exist? Is it common knowledge, or are their people who scoff at the idea of men that become wolves and the living dead? There was a public stampede of ogres at one point, but large strong humanoids could be categorized as natural creatures I think, while the more "outlandish" beasts could be less acceptable, but I don't think it's indicated anywhere how well known they are to be a fact.
I might be interested in this game. When do you expect to start up?
@Leaves Sounds good! And if you're interested, in the Discord channel people are earning hints as to what locations might possibly generate special events for their characters, and all of those hints are also recorded on a side channel for easy reference. Some of those hints do relate to Feya in some way, so you can pop in, see what all is there and if that influences where you want her to go, etc., or you can see if there's anything you can do to earn a new hint. I started this big character event business as a sort of complex random encounter small chance for small reward in character development kind of thing (if that made any sense, that sentence looks like a weird rambling to me and I just wrote it) but it's become a fun kind of "earn clues to find your reward" game.
@Old Amsterdam@Demon Shinobi@Leaves@yoshua171@Spiffy@floodtalon@Gardevoiran@BCTheEntity so right now is some vague downtime for the crew that should really only last 1-3 posts total. Y'all can go to one of the tourist destinations to check things out and maybe you'll find yourself a little secret if you pick the right place to go, eh? But once everyone has had a couple posts just to get out some R&R type RPing it's back to the ship and onto Reverse Mountain!
While Feya, reluctantly, accepted the aid of Krabbe's flotation ring and was pulled back aboard, Wafer D. Kite was in deep contemplation. He hadn't expected the bounty hunter's words to affect him so much, and he hated it. He grit his teeth as he imagined, each in turn, the old members of his crew. The deceased, and the ones that were caught and sent off to be tried and executed. That's when Boone pulled him back to reality. A family. That sounded nice. Families were hard to replace, but he had lost his. What would they have said? Kite didn't have to contemplate it long. They would all want to see him moving on.

"I will join you, captain. I am an able shipwright, so I'll keep your vessel in good shape." With that declaration, Kite began to hobble his way across ships, burdened by a thousand cuts. Individually no threat, but they created a cumulative wound of great potency. As soon as Kite had made it to the deck of the Rum Runner, he collapsed. Partly this was due to his exhaustion, yes, but also this was the first moment of peace, true peace, he had since Krabbe's men had raided his ship. This was nice.

And so the Red Rum Pirates sailed away from the wreck of the King Crab, battered and bruised, but victorious. They were even up a nakama! With Bonesword's ability to create limitless materials, and Kite's skills, the ship would be back in perfect condition in no time flat! Their final battle in the South Blue was now behind them. For now it was time to rest, replenish resources, then head off to Reverse Mountain! The Grand Line beckons, and when adventure calls, the Red Rums follow! What mysteries would await them in that legendary place? They would find out, just as soon as they get to the end of the map!

Chapter 1: A New Dawn - End!

Chapter 2: Onward Toward Adventure!

The Rum Runner made it finally to their last destination before the Grand Line! Clock Town! After sailing another hour and a half once they had left the King Crab behind, the tall clock towers peaked up over the horizon for all to see. A technological marvel of the South Blue, Clock Town had impeccable precision in all their metal work, and the best time pieces throughout the entire world! Plus being so close to Reverse Mountain meant that they had a good trade economy for all the private explorers that stopped by before heading off to the Grand Line, and even gave a decent amount of trade to the nearby marine base, Branch 203. Even though John Krabbe had set sail from Clock Town to intercept the Red Rums, the town didn't seem to be up in arms and ready to defend themselves once the pirates came to port. In fact, they seemed blissfully unaware of the outlaws in their midst. Perhaps the good people of Clock Town had anticipated that there was simply no way The Vice could have failed to protect them? Well, that was no matter. It simply meant that the crew could go about their business however they wanted in order to resupply before heading off.

@Lugubrious Oh snap, I had completely forgotten about the bit the journal mentioned about asking for help! But it works, because Runch definitely wouldn't have remembered at this point. Or rather, he'd have believed the danger was over. So it's a good progression. On a separate note, is there anything you'd like to do with my side character, since Roughdragon has announced his dropping out?
The Cereal Killer

@Lugubrious

Well that was a little anticlimactic, Runch had thought. He sincerely hadn't expected his opponent to take his words at face value and conduct a proper retreat like that. It was... Surprising. All for the better for certain, but surprising none the less. Even though the pirate captain lacked the necessary supernatural senses to see the stand's nigh infinite forms lurking about, nonetheless a wave of ease washed over him as they departed with their master. Still, the entire situation felt highly uncomfortable. Was the College now attacking the other contestants as well? Did that mean the tournament was considered to be over? Not judging by the boy's words, no. He had already put some thought into this before but had been distracted with the fight. Now things had a bit more clarity. If the tournament was still on but they were attacking contestants, did that mean the College wasn't as unified as they portrayed? And if there was such a fracture, what side would Oren be on, if Runch had decided to report the situation to the "referee?"

Yet another thought entered K. Runch's mind. These twins displayed stands, that much was verified by the journal he had carried, but did they come from the same world as Motley? He found it possible, but pretty unlikely. That meant those stands had to come from somewhere, right? An idea hatched in the cap'n's head and he charged toward the last place he had heard the young man speaking from. "Hey! Hey! Wait up!" he cried out, hoping to get the kid's attention. "I have no intention of losing, and you know I won't pose a danger with my wish! But I'm startin' to get real tired of these invisible stand things! How'd you two get them? How can I get one? I just want to be able to see what I'm fighting, and maybe get a little extra firepower in this crazy city! I refuse to lose to the monsters, to the gentlemen, and to the College itself! But as long as I'm aiming to make happiness spread, doesn't it make sense to help me out?"
