I started RP before double digit age but you couldn't have gotten an admission I was under 18 under threat of death. Kids just casually admiting it online now is wild.

Renar Hagen

They'd snuck the princesses out of the castle and through the city into Candaeln well enough. At the very least, the party wasn't caught. It'd been late enough at night that the streets were mostly deserted, after all. Still, Renar couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief as they passed through the keep's gates to more relative safety at last. This would give them more than enough time to regroup and prepare their next move as the princesses were kept safe. Of course, this was presuming that the team sent into the Cazt tomb would fail. Considering the presence of both Gerard and Serenity in that squadron, Renar had a decent amount of faith that they would pull through.

That said, it never hurt to plan for all eventualities. It was with this in mind that Renar approached Tyaethe, catching Fionn's eye briefly. As far as he was concerned, the bodyguard squadron's role in this was finished. All that was left was the battle in the crypts, and they had no information as to what was going on at the moment.

"Dame Tyaethe," He made a brief salute. "Requesting permission to take some men to reinforce the Knight-Captain in the mausoleum once we've re-armed ourselves. Unless we're still needed here on the defense?"

Ranbu no Izayoi

The Valheim soldier's words weren't an unexpected response, but they served to stoke Izayoi's ire nonetheless. The expression on her face grew thunderous, and her grip on the hilt of her blade tightened...only for a hand to land on her forearm. Izayoi jerked back in alarm, her blade almost reaching the throat of whoever had approached her before she realized it was merely the the sollan girl she'd been saddled with. Her eyes narrowed in response at the girl's words. What sort of simpleton did she take her for?

"I am aware." Izayoi ground out in response, her eyes returning to the glowering soldier. "However, that makes him useless for any purpose whatsoever. Now I have to keep questioning them until I find their leader." The Emperor's Demon stared down at the man, nothing but venom in her gaze. "Do you know what that means for you?" She asked rhetorically, acting in the very next moment.

Without warning, Izayoi punted the soldier in the jaw, jerking his head upward and exposing his throat. The tip of her sword plunged into the man's windpipe, ending his life in a spray of blood. Despite this, his killer still looked unsatisfied.

"Too quick for the likes of him. But we are short on time." Izayoi spat, flicking blood off her blade as she turned to face the others. "Well? What are we waiting for? There are still men of Valheim to slay tonight. Should we find their leader, leave him alive. For now. His rightful death can wait until we possess more information."
Nakano Nagi

If the situation wasn't so serious, Yuzu's shift from haughty bitch to terrified child would be almost comical. Okay, scratch that, it was still fucking funny right now. The only reason Nagi didn't crack up was because Yuzu latching onto her arm was actually annoying enough to dampen her mood.

"Get off of me, would ya?." Nagi grunted, shaking her arm out of Yuzu's grasp as they trudged along. "I can't make sure we don't die if you're latched on."

Of course, the universe chose just then to screw with her life just that tiny bit more. As the shadowy monster rose up, Nagi shoved Yuzu back with one hand. Damn. She'd fought this sort of thing before, but not with a goddamn civilian in tow!

"Get the fuck back! I got this! BELIAL!" Nagi bellowed her last word as she slammed her Awakening Drive into the side of her wrist, a crimson winged demon emerging into existence behind her with a roar. A mental nudge directed her Echo forward, claws outstretched to rip into the monster. Even as Belial charged forward, Nagi wasn't far behind, quickly reaching into her jacket pockets to slip on the other thing she kept hidden on her person, a pair of brass knuckles. Belial's claws descended upon the creature even as Nagi moved to flank it, aiming to land a haymaker into its side.

Dragan Meszaros

So they were the same people that had been spotted within the city. How curious. Dragan wouldn't quite classify these people as a threat yet, but this was definitely something to watch out for in the future. For now, it seemed the coven of vampire lords and this Society were moving in opposite directions, with one leaving Alavaris and the other entering it. Hopefully, it would stay that way until they had more of an idea what these people wanted. Were they acting of their own free will, or were those humans patsies to some greater power? Questions for later. For now, they still had to maintain their charade with these villagers.

"Is that so? Thank you for the information, then. As well as your generous offer of hospitality." The vampire lord inclined his head towards Giles, resting his hammer upon his shoulder. "Food will not be an issue, as we've our own provisions. But a place to catch our breath before we move on would be most welcome."

Were he acting on his own, the grateful populace of a village would be a modest first step towards reestablishing his domains, and Dragan would have revealed his aspect in true without hesitation. But Ichor's mission superseded all. Unfortunate for his ambitions, but he would return in due time. Not even for his own sake, either. In this dark age, the protection of a higher being was more vital than ever for humanity to do something more than merely subsist and cling on to life. Regardless, there was one last piece of advice he would give.

"Should that alchemist ever return, I would advise that you and yours kill her. You've more than seen that whatever designs she has are for her benefit alone. A person such as that cannot be trusted to remain free to enact their schemes."

With that said, he turned to Aleksiya, raising an eyebrow at her words.

"Oh? By all means, then. Lead on. I'm curious to see as to what exactly that journal we found was speaking of. Shall we gather up the others?"
Kayliss Lambert

Cadmon's words revealed that there wasn't anything of substance for her. Not yet, at least. Disappointing, but not entirely unexpected. It was at least refreshing to hear that someone wanted to make good use of a valuable asset for once. Not to disparage her actual superior here, but the thought still lingered in her brain. Still, she couldn't exactly fault Lady Hraesleg for that. The line of reasoning was obvious enough.

"Perhaps. But I doubt I'll be given the honor of cutting the head off the snake. Our objective here will always be at least partially political until the Lions are foremost in the realm. Sending an assassin to take care of matters quickly and quietly is counterproductive to that regard. At best, I might be used to soften them up somewhat. A lieutenant or two would serve, to say nothing of their supplies."

Kayliss shrugged, seeming unbothered at that. While the lack of opportunity for her personally wasn't very exciting, there was still the big picture to consider for the nation as a whole. As it stood, the Steel Princess had her support given that she was one of the few forces in the realm taking proactive measures against dangers to it as a whole. Not that Kayliss would be fickle or disloyal enough to betray the girl unless she did something treasonous. A Crownsblade had better convictions than that. But she still had a conversation to continue. Or what passed of one with a surly tactician barely into his manhood, at least.

"In any case, where is that massive brute that advises you? I'd have thought he'd be at your side."
Ranbu no Izayoi

Years of training and battlefield experience allowed Izayoi the luxury of keeping an eye on her companions even as she evaded and turned aside the blades of the Valheim soldiers assailing her. The rogue was struggling against even one soldier, but at least he managed to prevail in the end. The raider to her left overcommitted in his strike, and Izayoi took full advantage of his error, narrowly evading to the side before plunging the tip of her blade into his shoulder.

Izayoi frowned as he stumbled back and she was forced to stay on the defense, madly dodging and parrying three more strikes in response. This wasn't so much of a challenge, per se, as it was frustrating. Were she closer to her former speed, these men would be nothing more than rust on her sword by now. But as it stood, she didn't have much of an opening to even cast a Haste spell on herself and approach that level of swiftness. Gods, but her master would be disappointed to see the state Izayoi was in now.

Fortunately, the Faye mage proved his worth in short order and electrified every single soldier in the room, save for the one she'd knocked back but moments prior. That soldier seemed to gape at his compatriots being eliminated so easily, but before he could gather himself, Izayoi rushed forward, knocking the man's blade from his hands with her own sword before raising her sandaled foot to kick into his chestplate, knocking him through the door he came through and stumbling out towards the doorway. She didn't let up, leaping forward and slamming the soldier into the hallway, landing with her mounted on top of his prone form, katana pointed at his throat. A quick glance at the surrounding area revealed no immediate threats, and thus she felt secure enough to conduct an impromptu interrogation.

"Answer well, and you may live to see the morrow." Izayoi snarled, the tip of her sword pricking where she knew it would find purchase and drawing blood. "Where can I find your commanding officer? I would have words with him."
Kayliss Lambert

Strangely enough, life as a Lion had been far less eventful than life as a Crownsblade in her months of service thus far, even with the border tensions. Then again, Kayliss had overheard some of the veterans saying war was at least half waiting. Kayliss could wait, certainly. But even having patience didn't stop the waiting from being monotonous. She'd not been tapped to be a scout this time, so she was simply waiting around camp, taking a seat as she did another check on her weaponry. Her crossbow, knives, shortsword, and dagger all proved themselves to be in good condition, just as they had been the last time she made this check but mere hours ago.

Social activity wasn't much of an option, either. Certainly, Kayliss was familiar with at least a few members of their force. Some even rather high up. But word had gotten around that she was an assassin of some sort, and thus the common soldiery was rather leery of interacting with her. Fortunately, whoever had been responsible for that information leak didn't bring up the Crownsblades at all, or there would be far more cause for concern. Her working theory was that Lady Velvetica, who was one of the very few that knew all the details of her story, mentioned her status as an assassin off-hand at some point, and it had spread. At least she knew not to mention the fact that the throne of Velt had an otherwise secret organization of shadowy killers. An organization that was shattered now. A frown marred her face at the thought, and how she was no closer to an answer after several months.

Just then, she was interrupted by one of the aforementioned acquaintances she knew. Cadmon Demet. A decent sort for a lord, even if he was barely a man. Still, from what Kayliss had gathered on the moody earl, well, she had good reason to believe he had rather poor reasons to be so sullen all the time. Regardless, it wouldn't quite do to antagonize him without reason.

"Earl Demet." Kayliss nodded back, her ponytail waving behind her as a slight breeze kicked up. "Am I to receive orders, then? Is there a target?" At least, she hoped it was a chance to get back out into the field. Goddesses help both her dwindling patience and Cadmon should this turn out to be something especially foolish.
Valerie Durand

What a shitshow. She hadn't found Roche at all, and her roommate just randomly showed back up in the dorms with no recollection of where she'd been or what had happened to her. Just great. Mina and Miles had found Roche before Valerie managed to, it seemed. Although judging by Miles's crap excuse, there was something else going on behind the scenes there. Seriously, tree bark against his face in the moonlight? Who the hell thought that passed for an alibi? Besides her entire dorm, apparently, that was.

Speaking of her dorm, it burning down really didn't help her mood. Most of Valerie's stuff was replaceable, and she'd managed to snag her deck with her upon exiting the burning building. But her autographed Chazz Princeton posters were absolutely priceless. Those were a limited-edition online order, damn it! So she wasn't exactly the happiest of campers at the moment. Literally, considering they were stuck sharing tents outside the Slifer dorm grounds now. Really, the past few days had been an absolute god damn mess. So here she was, hanging out with Roche as they huddled around a small fire pit, grilling some sausages.

"Well, I'm glad you're alright, at least." Valerie murmured to her roommate as she slowly rotated their food over the makeshift grill. "Sorry I didn't get to actually meet your dad, by the way. That just...wasn't really a great day for it. Seriously, you don't remember a single thing about what happened with you disappearing?" She paused. "You talk to that Miles kid at all?"
Dragan Meszaros

Giles's reaction told Dragan all he needed to. The man had no knowledge of what was going on down here. Good. Dragan at least somewhat approved of the man. He was simply trying to keep his own people alive, something that the Death Knight wasn't exactly unfamiliar with. A good man, thrust into a nearly impossible situation. Whatever suspicions the headman had towards him were more than warranted. And likely justified, considering some of the company he traveled in. What he said further was cause for much greater concern, though.

The Society? Elena had spied something related to...whatever that organization was, back in the city. Before she'd most likely passed on. This was the second time they'd come across this group, now. Their status in relation to Ichor's brood was still unknown, but whatever they were, they were at least able to pass as human, if what Giles said was any indication. Dragan paused, trying to remember what exactly Elena had said about them, before the memory ran through his head.

"These 'Society' people. What were their names? Was either a Rykard or Rhea? Of the three, how did they behave while they were within the village? Moreover, what does your village know of this city, exactly?" He added the last one on as an afterthought. It would be good to know exactly what was said of Alavaris in the centuries that had passed. Judging by what little Giles had said of it already, it would seem prudent to not mention they had come from there originally.
