Overseer

"Not much," the woman said, gesturing at the church, "The Lucias have been keeping the church in order, and there isn't much call for pastoral support in this backwater town. But that's not what you're asking about.

"Four of the Masters have introduced themselves, and two of those might be choosing to keep themselves hidden. As for the last... well, you came just in time," the woman said, knocking back more of the cheap brew, "It seems that the last Servant in this war was only summoned tonight. Exactly on schedule, but it's not surprising if our last Master hasn't made it yet."

"Tonight? Something light, perhaps," the flouncy blonde said, keeping her voice lowered for once to not be overheard over at the other end of the nave--fortunately, this building wasn't quite so echoey as the churches they had visited across Rome. "It is of no concern to me, but if the fighting starts immediately, I would hate to see you forced to run around on something too heavy."

She rubbed her thumb on the back of her Master's hand, more as a distraction to herself--all this waiting and planning was annoying; if another Master and Servant was here then why should she not introduce herself fully and properly? Even this slight skulduggery of hiding her presence was aggravating, this technical violation of neutral ground. Not that she would ever let a Master come to harm here, should they be a worthy opponent, where would the excitement be in that?

But getting to see the Masters now--that would make finding them on a suitable battlefield later easier, somewhere she could show her true brilliance. That would be worth it.
Some Hall

"If anyone wants to come for Gisela, let them," the demon stated, sporting a grin that didn't quite seem friendly. A shocker, that the towering, armoured demon was that hungry for battle. She regained her composure a second later, otherwise barely reacting to the maid comment and... well, at least she hadn't taken offence to being called a babysitter.

"We have an arrangement. She doesn't need any preparation or bargaining to summon me."

Sakura

... right, that was altogether too many people fighting things for her to want to contribute. What if she hit someone? More importantly, what if they needed to leave in a hurry? This place was haunted, who knew if killing the central apparition wouldn't have it bring the entire building down in one big calamity. No, she'd best stay back and be ready to open an exit as soon as they were done.

Or if their medic needed evacuation, that would be another one.

"Oh, I know where we can get spicy!"

Samurai

The ghostly samurai made no more pronouncements, no more statement of intent. As Tera rushed forward, he simply took a single ghostly breath and swung. A more rational, smaller foe would have had good chance to avoid it. But in a headlong charge to crush the samurai, there was no avoiding it--there was a sound like thunder, and the air rippled, a wave of pressure flying out to slam into the anomaly and carry it back across the room. No longer engaged, he was free to dart backwards, showing an annoying but not unusual--at least among anomalies--proclivity to outright dodge bullets when given such freedom.

At least the grasping hands took enough attention for his sword to clear, rather than the stroke getting an immediate followup.

Yet, writhing alongside him--slowed from when the rear team had seen it, yet not stopped like Mae's first exorcisms--was a rising ooze. Row by row, across the breadth of the hall they were in--an entire firing line of ashigaru formed, fingers already closing around the triggers.

"Ah crap, monk!" was Sakura's panicked squeak, diving past Zhao to avoid the naginata that so succinctly cut through her previous space. It seemed that the shugenja from earlier was back--and still the amount of black ooze was growing, some flowing in from the rest of the property... but at the same time, seeming to grow just from the ghost's presence. Even if it was mostly ashigaru for now...

"Perhaps they did not know the exact limits of their gift. Or perhaps this is simply more amusing to them," Erich ventured--obviously, whilst he might be able to discern the origins of this particular magic... it was hardly like he knew Fiadh, although the overall logic of the fey was quite consistent.

The trek took them out of the gardens and back up to the very same building that Fionn had previously visited... and he seemed overall less concerned about the courtyard here being damaged or magicked in some way. The same butler had been sent away to gather wood, flowers--anything that seemed marginally relevant to Fionn's experimentation.

"No, instead it would just be wasted on some violent meathead. It'd be like teaching fine art to a cow," the blonde scowled, but at least she stopped trying to close the door and instead stood there with arms crossed. "But it means you can get information out when you're done. Prove it, get someone to draw up a geas... and fine. I'll waste my time on you."

Mage's College

"If only the risk was death..." Gisela sighed, "I suppose that I can provide some limited instruction that should avoid the worst risks. There's only so much marking I have to do..."

The embroidered designs on the expansive rug surrounding the desk--and, notably, it's two seated chairs--began to shine with that... before briefly depositing the pair of them and the chairs in what looked like an identical circle etched into an entrance hall before being filled with silver. Compared to the transportation that had brought Gertrude to this realm, the teleportation was undoubtedly primitive and power-hungry--but it was fast.

The hundi didn't offer much time to demand an explanation, pulling a staff--one that had no reasonable way to fit there--from inside her robes and tapping it on the ground. That in turn caused the appearance of an armoured demon--red-skinned, obviously female... and absolutely towering over the short mage, even though she had risen to her feet.

"Did you know that from my perspective you'd only been gone a few minutes? I hadn't even left your office." The hundi raised an eyebrow at that, as if asking what sort of summoner the demon took her for. "How long has it been for you?"

"Only about a week so far. It has left a lot of time to catch up on paperwork... could you watch this one? I need to fetch some materials."

With that, she rushed off through a door, leaving Gertrude alone with... well, whoever the demon was.

"Why are you in a maid outfit? You're obviously not."

Fujiwara no Mokou

The white-haired girl let out an annoyed click at the introduction, shoving her hand into her pockets. "We can't just beat this goddess up and go home?"

Not that she needed to hurry. Aside from the minor headache of some food rotting while she was gone... it wasn't like that forest was going to go anywhere in a hurry. There was a small chance that Kaguya might have moved, but with everything else that was happening recently, it didn't seem like that was too likely...

Still, she was willing to tag along while they investigated the boar. Wild boar were something she had quite a bit of experience with, mostly when it came to eating them.

This one was considerably larger than Japan's boars, but--

"You'd probably die if you ate this one. Even if it's not poisoned."

The blonde gave him another cursory look... and then moved to shut the door again. "You're attractive enough, but I'm not that desperate that I need to waste my time teaching a magic ghost."

The hundi seated behind the desk looked up, then went back to... marking? That looked like she was marking something. "Normally, I would say that I have been asked by the Vanishing Witch to not spread any knowledge of summoning within this realm."

She stopped writing, putting the paper down and gesturing for Gertrude to take the seat opposite her. At least it seemed like a comfortable one. "Since you look like an outsider, then you must be with the knights that she brought in. Tell me, why do you seek to learn summoning? If you are a genius as you suggest, then you should know there are far less risky avenues of study."

"Oh, I know," the old man replied, sounding amused--and then, standing firm despite the ground shaking beneath his feet with barely a noticeable adjustment in posture. "In for a long afternoon, then? Well, perhaps we should take this somewhere else. I would hate to reshape the gardens with fairy magic, they should not be that wild."

Outside Talderia

There was a brief discussion between the two on where to go--names and places thrown about, although at least the food was recognisable, and the argument about how long it would take to get there. Not that pricing seemed like it should have been a concern, but Edwin was the one pushing for going somewhere... well, cheap probably wasn't the right word, but simpler. For all the two were famous knights, they were from a lowly background.

"Something like that, this copy of Daybreaker... the effect looks pretty similar, but it feels different. It's a bit weaker, too,' Edwin answered, shrugging. "I don't think this sword is actually magical at all, it just works like it here. Not sure whey she borrowed the real thing today, but it's nice to see it."

Silenna's Place

"For the last time, I'm not taking any orders," was the grumpy response from behind the door, before it opened. It seemed the description was accurate, although not mentioning the various minor scars and burns along her arms from who-knows-what concoction, mirrored by the numerous marks and stains along a thick apron. The goggles of some sort of smoky glass or crystal hanging around her neck were an interesting touch. She took one look at Rolan before continuing, "No matter how hard it is for you to get it up, I don't care. Now shove off."

With that, she went to close the door.
Mokou

Going from a bamboo forest to a church by an ordinary deciduous forest was one of the more unexpected things that happened to Mokou in recent times. Not impossibly unexpected, she had only recently found herself being teleported to the Outside World, but that had been due to actively collecting objects to facilitate it. She didn't think there was some weird incident to be pulled into this time... at least, nobody unusual had been coming through to pick fights, which was probably the only thing to go on.

Or maybe this counted as a weird incident? Something of an annoying one, since it didn't look like it was going to wear off as quickly as her last foray out of Gensokyo, and these trees were not native to Japan. Nor was the architecture of the crumbling building. Still, if she looked around long enough, there would probably be somebody.

If not, it didn't really matter. It wasn't like there was anything she was in a hurry to get back to.

She was saved from having to follow a trail back to a settlement by the sound of voices. And she recognised that one.

"You!" The pointing wasn't necessary, but it gave her time to pick out other people except the vampire. Some green thing, boy, a green-haired girl that seemed vaguely familiar, that ghost's strange gardener... what was she doing with the devil? Had there been a trade in underlings? "You're not going to try have that maid eat me again, right?"

With this strange group, maybe Remilia wasn't the one behind this? Not if she was going to be out in the daytime. Even if she had only moved into Gensokyo recently and was more likely to know a way to get people out again.

Even in the... whatever the hell was going on in ULiL, it was definitely more 'along for the ride and being a weird influence' than control, yeah.
