A good leader takes a bigger picture, and break it down into easy to solve problems.
First... There was the obviously charging Usagi, who barreled right at Kurin. The wood shinobi sensed her immediatly, and then... He sensed another entry. Kurin only had enough time with this new distraction to jump to the side, avoiding Usagi's charge. It seemed he'd have to worry about her the most. That speed made her a greater threat than the others, as far as he was concerned. Mind you, being a bit on the bulkier side made it harder for him to even dream of keeping up in a fight without having to rely on pure brute strength. Something he doubted would work out.
Then the explosion. Pausing for a moment, Kurin looked into the distance, catching a plume of smoke in the distance. Well, if this whole thing wasn't going tits up, the explosion in the distance was just the cherry on the cake. And then, the devestation of the forest. Thankfully the massive shin-dig was outside the radius of the attack. Dust poured out, choking the group of shinobi while fighting had begun in pure unbridled earnest.

It took a moment for Kurin to stretch out his focus, covering the forest once more in his senses. And now at least 1/3rd of the forest wasn't there. Torn down, dead. And... WATER! There was another attack coming.
Slamming his hands together, Kurin called upon the roots and trees around him. In the area, the trees began to change, warping and adjusting to his whim. Interweaving, locking, merging together to create a dome. Wood Release: World of Trees Wall! The thick dome formed slowly in the area around the group, but just enough as water slammed against it all sides. The wood's interlocking method holding strong, as the timeless giants of the forest of death formed the base of this defense. The roof closed just in time, though a single sword did manage to hit the ground in the center before it fully closed up. The shinobi paused, knowing that a single burning tree was right outside, though hopefully extinguished by the water around him. If the other ninja had been smart, they may have realized the danger and joined Kurin in his dome.

"Well... It seems we're all going to have to be best friends for a bit." Kurin smiled sheepishly. "After all, the outside is currently all water, and we're obviously dealing with some kind of sword throwing thing." He added, walking over to the sword that sat in the middle of the dome. "For now, we should put aside the exam, and focus on protecting ourselves and others. Who here has a sensory technique? Your job is to look for survivors. Also, for the ones responsible for this. We need to know who we're dealing with." Already he was taking charge, which he should. This was his dome, and at the moment he was the only one without a scroll. It was more for the benefit of the stranger who came in unannounced.

WATER AGAIN!? At least, for Bumu it was obvious he was cursed. His ears picked up the rushing water soon after the devastating explosion,so he was climbing up a tree as fast as he could well before she could see the water. Reaching the top of the nearest tree, the fox sighed softly. Only to realize by looking up that his troubles weren't over. She caught the glint of the sword, and scurried about. Zipping under thick branches, relying mostly on his own small size to avoid the easy target bit of things. A sword skewered the branch above his head, sinking in deep, stopping less than an inch from the fox's skull. Shaking from head to toe, Bumu slowly crawled away from it, thankful at the very least that the assault only lasted a total of ten seconds. Though now he had his pick of swords. Turning back into a human, Bumu began by pulling a katana from the trunk of a tree, looking it over in curiosity. Well, the craftsmanship was impressive.
"Hey!? Anybody out there?" Bumu shouted, knowing well that they where under attack, and any help was desired.

The attack went off without a hitch. Primarily. Turning to look across Konoha, at the plumes of smoke that filled the sky. This was all on him. His heart raced in his chest, drumming out with a new intensity. He hadn't felt this way since the battle of Ameno Bridge. Oh, that was a glorious battle, but he didn't have time to focus on it. At least a hundred of his clones where running around, busy at work causing trouble. Some even dressed up in the traditional garb of Kirigakure. After all, this was a show, better keep the audience guessing.

-------------------------------
Konoha Hospital... @Odin

Ten of his clones landed on the roof across from the Amekage, several of which where cloaked in invisibility. So she could only see four of the ten. She didn't need to know how many she'd be fighting. All wearing the mark of Kirigakure somewhere on their body.
"I recommend you reconsider your actions." One said, taking a step closer. A mask on each of their faces. "This isn't your fight. Leave the village, return to your own homes. You have no stake in this battle. They are not your citizens. You don't need to die for them." As he spoke, two of the cloaked ninja moved in closer, landing on the roof, making sure to keep some distance so they wouldn't be spotted.
Two drew their blades, looking at the hospital, leaping down suddenly at the mass of people below. Swords swiping back and forth, aiming with unmatched cruelty to end some of the desperate injured. Should the Amekage focus an attack on the two ninja focusing on the crowd, the two cloaked shinobi on the roof with her would attack. Their goal was simply to get close, grab her, and drain her chakra. Any kind of hold would be more than enough for now. Their goal wasn't to kill her... Yet. If she struck back though, they where both more than capable of detonating themselves. A dangerous choice was ahead for Yogensha.

-------------------------------
Another Area...

This kind of trick relied on a lot of chakra. Jaakuna had a shocking amount himself, but even he knew he needed more. Any citizen or shinobi his clones managed to catch where fueling the invasion. Each one pinning their target to the ground, sucking chakra out of them to fuel the clone. It was a continuous effort, but it was going well. A majority of the villages more skilled chunnin where all involved in the jounin exams, wasting their time and leaving Konoha nearly defenseless. Those that dropped out where usually too tired to put up a fight as they where drained of their chakra.
"Commander, we have the market district under control." One clone said to another.
"Good, you're commander now, I'm going to make the report." The clone said, vanishing in a poof of smoke as this information returned to the former Jinchuriki of the Nine Tailed Fox.

-------------------------------
Forest of Death... @Syn

"Never expected to see something like that again in my life time." One of the masked shinobi said, landing by Havoc. "The reports are coming in. The plan is going well, just keep them distracted, but a few bodies won't be missed." He said, noticing some ninja who had been killed by Havoc's attack. Well, somebody had to be there to get crushed like a pancake. "Don't drop your guard, these kids are taking this exam for a reason. They're all exceptional." If Havoc could see Jaakuna's face under that mask he'd swear the reborn ninja was excited.

Ready... Deep breaths. You can do this. After all, you'd done this before. Remember Iwagakure? The war was just starting to get into swing. That poor ANBU hadn't it felt it now, just like that guy hadn't all those years ago. There was even a body this time, since he only needed the disguise for a small window. At least the family had something to mourn this time. But he doubted anybody would really care at this point. Things where going to change faster and faster.

Two minutes ago, Jaakuna Aka had sliced the throat of a man from behind. For his uniform of course. He honestly had his pick, so it was more a matter of personal preference when he opted to kill the guy with the fox mask instead of the wolf mask. The body was dumped into a dumpster, the smell would hide it for now. Adjusting the mask on his face, the fox ninja gazed across the streets of konoha. It was all so different, and yet nothing seemed to change. It was... So nostalgic. Looking carefully, he could see the ramen shop he'd eaten at for years. There was the place where he fought Ginsho in public. That building was still abandoned apparently. Oh look, there was the place he proposed to his first wife. Well, no time to get all touchy feelie. Time to get busy. He had his orders. It was time to stop wasting time. Time... Weird. You just want to waste it all at times. STOP THIS! FOCUS WHY CAN'T YOU FOCUS!?

Looking across the way, he saw another clone of his in a turtle mask. Poor sucker couldn't find a fox mask. Guess they all couldn't be that lucky. They'd been clever, avoiding Namine's senses, since she was the only one who actually could track him at this point. The fox sage was on the move, as time was ticking closer and closer to mission start time. All at once, several ANBU could be seen looking out at a single point in the distance. Probably confusing one or two onlookers in the process. But as they watched into the distance, the plume of fire and an explosion could be seen echoing off in the distance.

Two minutes ago... The Kage Booth
Foxes are tricky. Sly creatures. In fact, they where statistically the most tricky things in all the world. So it's a wonder nobody tried checking for bombs. Oh yeah, did we forget to mention the bombs? While he had fidgeted, chatted, and wasted time, the clone of Jaakuna Aka who had snuck in earlier hadn't just been trying to relive the good ol' days. In fact, Namine's arrival was a blessing to Jaakuna. Her arrival succeeded in being the ultimate distraction to the party. So much so that nobody would notice the explosive tags that Jaakuna had placed a bomb. Specifically, one in the sofa. The powder filled tags, tied to a timer... A classic trick if there ever was one.

There was a brief moment where everything was quiet. A single loud ticking, filled the air, the only warning all occupants had. The explosion could be seen a mile or so off, highlighting the moment in a frenzy. Citizens who witnessed the explosion panicked. A cart was overturned, and from Jaakuna's numerous vantage points he could see shinobi running around trying to figure out what was going on. This was just part one... It was up to others to accomplish part two now.

Inside the Kage office, stuff was tossed about. Fire clinging to the ceiling and walls, the glass shattered, and probably a few bones of those caught off guard. Even worse for some who may as well be dead, judging by the piece of metal now sticking out of the head of one of poor chunnin who had been there to help the kages. Blood leaked from the hole in his head, splattering to the ground as the force had pinned his head to a wall. Shrapnel sailed through the air, with the food table having smashed right through the window, glass showering everybody outside. Acrid smoke poured out of the building, pouring up into the air, a hellish landscape for the kages to have stumbled upon. Smoke choking their lungs, burning their eyes, and the panic around them as the guard on the other side struggled to open the door. Only for a bit of the ceiling to collapse, locking him out and the Kages in. They had to act fast to survive this attempt on all their lives.

Below the Kage suite, the observation room was in chaos. The ceiling above the room where others had gathered began to buckle. They'd have enough warning as a bit of the ceiling broke and flattened one of the unwitting shinobi watching the matches. Blood gushed from his body as stone smashed down onto his fragile human body. Bits of brain gushing out and drenching the glass of the observation deck. The ensuing chaos resulted in the loss of sudden life, and the disaster only began to echo through the building as it buckled under it's own weight.

From a distance, Jaakuna and his many clones just watched. Until one, probably the leader looked away. Gesturing to the others, they spread out, either moving towards the distressed kages, or away to different parts of the village. The attack had begun, and as the clones moved around, distress flooded the village. The hospital exploded, reports claiming there was a member of anbu there, just watching before he exploded like a bomb. A town office, a restaurant. Chaos flooded in, and Konoha was officially under attack.

The Medical Wing, where Yogensha was berating her students was one such location. The ceiling began to crack above them as one of the clones detonated from above, and another from below. The supports of the room began to crack, folding and snapping. Debris crashed down, smashing down and pinning one of the medical staff to the floor, blood gushing from her mouth. Stone buckled above the Amekage's head, showering the room in dust, thick and blinding as the building collapsed around them. A large stone fell from its support, making the deadly trip right towards Yogensha and her students.

THE ATTACK ON KONOHA BEGINS NOW!
@Project I think you may want to reread what Kurin said. Because he was saying that Kiku and Shizuka stole their scrolls.

Kurin knew something was coming. Four somethings. Well well before they got close enough to exercise any of their plans. In fact, Kurin already had a plan. It was his usual plan for situations like this. Grabbing his scroll, he passed it off to Jaakuna in a flash, pushing his chest and glaring at his ally. If Jaakuna had any sense, he's get the drift in a second. And if he didn't, Kurin's very next words would make it clear. "Run, enemy coming. Use the radio." By the time Team Assholes United would reach them, Jaakuna would most likely have a 10 second head start. Kurin himself stood his ground, knowing that he was going to be the distraction. If they tried to go right for Jaakuna (assuming they had a sensor to track him) Kurin was more than capable of slowing them down. If they stopped to take him on, then they'd end up wasting more time. Kurin could take it.

Narrowing the focus of his forest scan, to conserve his focus, he brought it down more than enough to encompass the other four, and would expand it when they got close to leaving his focus. More than enough to know where they are at all times. But, they didn't need to know that. Without the other two, this fight was lost. But... A losing fight didn't need to mean a mission was lost. With luck, Jaakuna could radio them for help, though with his two scrolls now he could make a direct run to the exit. Denial of assets, may take Team fire a few seconds to catch on. Could always leave them wondering if the two who ditched didn't take their scrolls. Any kind of distraction was a second earned.

He turned to Sakana as soon as the leaf ninja stood on the edge of the forest. "Oh, hello. I apologize, but my ally and I where robbed of our scrolls. Our own allies, Shizuka and Kiku, betrayed us it seemed." He coughed out, hands close together when he did so. At any moment he was ready to form a handseal, to attack or defend as the fire team moved around him. One of them was invisible. He could tell because when his eyes flicked to her location above Sakana he didn't see her. Stealth? Great, she may get cocky about it. If she made a move towards Jaakuna, he'd be moving first. The other two seemed to be standing aside. Going around Kurin would waste their time, and if they tried going directly through him, they'd find that a much harder obstacle. "My partner is such a nervous goose. He's honestly worried you planned to attack him, so he fled on his own. But we're all reasonable ninja here, right?"

He was ready to waste some time before things go serious. Either way, this was going to involve a fight.

Bumu was gone. First chance the fox saw, and she took it. Dashing off into the overgrowth, thankful that nobody would notice a fox with a scroll tied to his back. On one note, neither of his allies seemed to care about the fox reveal. Which was amazing... Kinda in a weird way. At least it was just those uncaring two and two probably confused medical ninja. Guess it was time to plan something... Oh wait, that fat guy was dead. Shivering from ears to tail, he looked back into the small clearing. The duo of medical ninja from earlier where standing around, thinking and discussing about what to do with the half chewed on corpse. Blood still oozed from the corpse, and Bumu felt... gross. There was a long, silent pause as Bumu sat back. He could still smell that salt water that filled the air, and it was... Disgusting. It made the fox sick, and the smell of iron in the air didn't help. In all honesty, Bumu was ashamed.

Ashamed at not worrying about the resident Akimachi... Worse that this was all her fault. She was the one who told him to join their team. And he was the one who failed to notice the lack of the... That moment flashed into Bumu's eyes again, making him... Sick. It felt meaningless really. This death. And Koma and Kaba, they didn't care. They didn't care about Akimachi, they didn't care about Bumu. They literally left once they decided they had what they wanted. Human... Seemed like out of the whole group, only Bumu took the time to even mourn him. Guess it's ironic how a beast can care more about the lives of others. This... This was wrong, and the fox knew it. Biting into his lip, he began to move away. Until stopping once more. No, everybody deserved a prayer. There, in the bushes, the fox took a deep breath. "May you find peace in the pure land." He whispered softly, claws scrapping along the ground to form a prayer circle. A moment, of peace in this forest of death.

When Bumu was done, he scoffed up the circle. Watching as Akimachi's body was taken away for a proper burial, he watched. Finally, when Bumu was alone, he went back to the forest. Maybe he'd get lucky, find somebody he could con out of a scroll. But his heart was in it anymore. "What a waste this day is."

Nousagi paused, his eyes noticing that his opponent had stopped moving. In all honesty, it was probably for the best. By the time the proctor had approached him, the Hyuuga was more than ready to continue onto round two. "Well, normally I'd be honored, but I feel I should focus on... Other matters." Nousagi said, turning to the proctor with a smile. "Either way, I came here to test myself. The rank of jounin would be offered to me anyway." He nodded as he spoke, and the other ninja from the branch clan nodded as well.
"Lord Nousagi was always a shoe in for the position. A tournament like this is for others who can't prove their skill otherwise." She said, smiling at the proctor. "But it's good to know you care."

But as Nousagi soaked in his victory, he decided he should check in on the lesser of his clan. Branch member Kaijin had entered the tournament as well. A waste of such skill to be honest... The lesser of the hyuuga was clearly the strongest of the branch clan, but as Nousagi watched the fight from above, he couldn't help but notice how pathetic it all seemed. By the time it was all over, he was the first there, hands on his hips to great the branch clan. "Pathetic." Nousagi grinned from ear to ear. "Why, a real Hyuuga would have destroyed those wires easily." He smirked, smug as always. "But, I must admit, for the lesser ninja you actually put up a fight. That at least should be honored." Nousagi said, holding out his good hand, and tapping Kaijin on the cheek.
"Lord Nousagi, please don't tease Kaijin. I th-" The other branch member began. Only to be immediately be silenced by the black haired hyuuga.
"Nobody asked you... Please do yourself a service and be quiet. Kaijin deserves attention from a true Hyuuga for his... Accomplishment." Nousagi snorted. "Now, Kaijin, lets go watch the rest of the fights."

"So uh... You think this is a summon?"
"Look, this thing is wearing a headband, and the other ninja isn't around. If it is a summon, we gotta fix it up anyway."
Ugh... Why did Bumu's head huuurt? Why was everything blurry? The last thing the fox remembered was water filling his lungs, and then... Wait a minute! She passed out! Oh shoot! Coughing and sputtering, Bumu's eyes snapped open, just to see two medical ninja standing over him, confused and clearly trying to figure out what just happened. Checking his body, Bumu took a moment to absorb every detail. One... They where in a forest. That was obvious. Two, they beat the challenge and where being taken care of by medical shinobi. Three... Bumu was a fox. OH! The fox scampered to all fours, snapping his teeth when one of the medical ninja reached out to try and poke him. Apparently he didn't seem real enough.
"Hey, don't poke me!" Bumu growled, looking around and preparing to hop away. Only to freeze, wincing in pain before she could even leap. Oh riiiight, broken rib. The rough patch job of a bandage made it clear they didn't exactly know how to operate on animals. The spike of pain caused the fox to stumble as the two ninja stood up, confused and concerned.
"Hey uh... Is this one of your guys summons?" The first ninja asked, clearly the larger of the two as he turned to Kaba and Koma. Clearly one of them had to be responsible for the fox. "And where did your third partner go?"
Bumu opted to stay quiet, mostly in a mix of panic and fear. Oh shoot, the disguise was over. Each twitch of an ear made the fox shake, slowly taking a step back, eyes on the bushes. If Bumu could get to the woods, she could recast the transformation jutsu.

Kurin rubbed his forehead, feeling a tad dizzy after such a smack. But it seemed the team got along well. So why did Kiku suddenly run off. Shizuka was off after her before he could say a thing, leaving Kurin wondering just how Shizuka knew about his ability to track others. Well, it sounded useful, but considering this was a forest, Kurin have better means. The blindness cost him a few seconds, which alone made this annoying. But as the blindness vanished, he knew he should get the plan going. Rubbing his eyes, he nodded to Jaakuna, still not speaking. His throat was too badly damaged at the moment, but that'd heal. He just had to focus on his other tracking technique, one better suited for such a dense forest. Wood Release: Root Sensing Disturbances.

Placing his hands on the nearest tree, Kurin began to focus. His chakra pushed into the trees, and suddenly, his senses where alive. The roots of the forest mixed together, interwoven like a net. His mind connected to each tree, mapping out the area around him, and somewhat beyond. He could feel each time another ninja tried to jump from branch to branch, and even the ground they walked on as long as roots where buried beneath. But as far as Kurin could be concerned right now, this was the advantage the team needed over the others. If they knew where everybody else was, they could attack and defend better. This connection made his detection skills immeasurable here. In fact, he couldn't detect any wildlife, except for one fox... Weird. Otherwise, all humans. He'd know as soon as anybody approached them. Or tried to attack his allies.

Pulling his hand away, the forest ninja took a step back. The forest of death was a bit of a blessing, as he now only had a few teams of humans to keep track of, rather than a whole mess of wildlife. He turned to Jaakuna, silently miming his success. With the two of them, Jaakuna could easily handle any kind of offensive combat. Kurin though, he was in his element.

The whole forest has been connected to Kurin's senses. All inside are now tracked.
So, things are wrapping up and Yuu is just kind of hanging at the arena and waiting, still. Anyone feel like giving me a nudge or something to do with him? e.e

So not enough wanted to do PVP arena, so you can just skip to stage 2 with a scroll and fight others there. Sorry.
LIGHTNING ROUND

The team did a great job. Honestly, the proctor was just glad they where even moving on, silently cursing under his breath the whole time. Guess next year they'd have to start installing signs telling people what to do. Well, at least he had to admit they did plan it through. Which was better than nothing. That at least was worthy of some kind of acknowledgement. And once they had a target, they did a fairly good job.

The beast snarled, splitting into two. A weasel, formed from that same energy smashed into the protected pathway, sending a surge right through it as Hikaru made his run. He'd make it, mostly out of luck as the barrier broke behind him, finally shattering with one powerful strike from the beast. Even barrier had their limits. They should have considered their stars lucky the beast was only being cranky.

The lightning wolf proper snarled, leaning it's head back as energy began to build inside its chest. A bright glow, a rush of energy, and then... They where gone. The test ending as soon as Hikaru grabbed the scroll. Guess they could move on. A rather decorative scroll rested in Hikaru's grip, shimmering with an emblazoned bolt of lightning in clear sight for them all to oogle.

Now, they just had to catch up to the other teams.

FIGHT OVER!

Nousagi had begun to take a step towards Kaito when a voice rang out. Without turning to face the speaker, he knew who it was. The proctor had raised up a flag, taking a step into the arena to put an end to this battle before it went to far. He'd been watching well enough, more than trained to catch the killing intent in the air. He knew that while Kaito wouldn't win, he knew at this point the two would just end up escalating the violence. If the Hyuuga didn't kill Kaito, then Kaito may just try to kill one of the Hyuuga clan. Either way, no option was preferred at the moment. "You two are both injured. Go see medical, and move on to the next portion of the exams." The proctor declared, making a silent gesture to the two teams of medical ninja who had been watching from the side.

Nousagi used his robes as an improved sling, resting his broken hand inside and turning to walk away from this battle. He had nothing left to say, instead silently cursing the whole matter. Until as he reached the edge of the arena, he did have something to say. "Hey thief. Next time I see you. You better have some greatness of your own. Or I may just kill you." That shinobi filled him with disgust. But, by the time his wounds healed, he doubted he'd even remember him. Nousagi instead looked ahead, to the medical team, and another who stood by them. He passed the medical team, shoo'ing them away.

"You have what I asked for?" Nousagi said, speaking to a member of the branch clan. The Otsutsuki. The lesser branch that never produced the right fruit. But, for what they had to offer, they where quite something.
"Look, I doubted you would need it, but I did bring the medicine." The one who spoke was female, a few years older than Nousagi himself. She seemed rather timid, holding a jar up to him. "That injury to your arm... I mean, it'll help but you need to be tender. The rapid mending of bone can be-"
"I didn't move it much. I doubt the bone will have moved much." Nousagi frowned, pulling the sleeve up. He could see inside his body, making note to know where the bone had gone. The female nodded, using her own chakra to move the bone back into the right place. The Otsutsuki always did have an interesting talent with mending bones. And Nousagi himself was a fast healer. The medical team went to work on healing the broken bone, as his 'servent' was already applying medicine to his bleeding arm. The wounds rapidly closed up, and soon that same medicine was applied to his broken elbow. Letting it soak into the skin, his elbow was healed, micro fractions running through it, but that would heal up perfectly in time. It was a fast fix for now.
"Lord Nousagi... Be careful. You are the pride of our clan."
"Exactly, I will inherit the Hyuuga clan someday. and I shall remember your good work."
"In ways... I think even you don't realize." She whispered softly, watching him walk away. And yet... As Nousagi walked away, his mind was dominated by one repeating phrase..."

'I already stole your future.' No, Kaito hadn't. But for a moment, Nousagi's faith in his own future wavered. A sense of fear as he looked down to his hand. And then he buried it. He buried that little white rabbit of emotion deep into a blizzard, leaving only the black rabbit left.

Well, Bumu was feeling pretty proud of himself. The clones high-fiving each other proudly, mostly for their own great work. And yet, Bumu was struggling now to hold his breath. He didn't have the greatest lung capacity to start with, but when she saw the king rip the queen apart, the fox's heart skipped a beat. A flurry of bubbles escaped Bumu's lips, only to clamp down hard to save what little air was left. They where down to one tank, which Kaba had completely taken. Worst of all, he figured for all her work, Koma must be running out of air soon. The clones didn't have air to offer, as they didn't need to breath. Koma did. The fox made a quick sign to Koma, asking if she needed any air.

That moment could have killed the fox. A force smashed right into Bumu, but it wasn't that vaporizing fist. It was a clone, pushing itself between the King and Bumu. The force hitting the paper bomb copy, causing it to burst apart, showering the king with those bright red tags. Bumu on the other hand was sent flying back. A broken rib forcing a scream for her lips, eyes wide as the last of his air rushed out. Now, Bumu was drowning. It was a struggle not to breath in, despite how much the fox may want to. A deep breath of water, the fox struggling to remain focused. Hands clasped together, the other clones rushed the king, who was probably bound in chains by now. Each clone mixing together, rushing right towards the king's maw. All merging into one form. The biggest most destructive rush of explosive tags Bumu could muster. If there was nothing else Bumu could do, this was the last of it.

"Die." Bumu managed to choke out, making a cruel request.

Nousagi had to admit, his opponent was fast. Clever too. Using every moment that Nousagi paused as a chance to counter attack. But, it was only a fool that allowed something like this to happen without a counter attack. Considering he was rather light on his feet, and the gentle fist style was all for fluid motions this seemed like the perfect chance to counter attack. As Nousagi's elbow met Kaito's shoulder, he did two specific actions. Which would be listed here.

His left hand moved like a bullet, but it wasn't just to touch his opponent. Instead, there was a spark, a flash, and the head of a lion appeared in the palm of his hand. This was the Gentle Step Twin Lion Fists, or fist since he was only using one. The lion fist wasn't just a love tap. Instead it was a force capable of shattering stone, and more importantly the human rib cage. Nousagi's fist collided with Kaito's left side, filling the air with the loud crackle of bone being broken. A few broken ribs wouldn't kill Kaito. Not if he got medical attention. The sooner the better to be honest. But, upon the impact area, it shut down his chakra path, more than enough to make the molding of further jutsu a much harder task. Specifically since it was in such a cluster of important organs. Kaito would lose some chakra too, but that was such a minor thing in the grand scheme of things that it barely needed to be brought up.

The second action came around the time Nousagi was being tossed. His arm broken, but he knew it was coming. Again, a very obvious technique by any stretch of the word. So when he was lifted over Kaito's shoulder, Nousagi managed a kneeing jab to the boy's back. The hit itself wasn't that much to right home about. More like a soft tap. But with full control of his tenketsu points, that made even this love tap a blow worth shutting down more of Kaito's body functions.

After landing, Nousagi was back on his feet, eyes wide and focused on Kaito. Well, only paritally, some attention was given to the broken arm.
"Greatness, huh?" Nousagi spoke, never blinking once. "So you're a thief, and a coward. Let me tell you something. Talk like that? It merely proves how weak you are! You'd rather blame others for your failings, or even your own short comings!" He took a step closer, soaking in the atmosphere. "But the real issue is you. You blame others for your lack of greatness. Claiming you had to steal it and assuming that makes you worthy. But the true fact, the one you're hiding from is that nobody else is to blame for your weakness. Greatness? You might as well be shouting about destiny like a child who thinks he's been denied something. You where never worthy of greatness, because you believed others denied you it! Greatness is free to claim, you just have to earn it!"

Why Bumu? Why Why Why was this happening to the fox? All Bumu wanted out of life was to be really cool. Since you know, it was all better than simply tending to a shrine forever. Instead the fox was now clinging to an oxygen tank, claws digging into the metal as she was being shaken back and forth. The whole motion would have been sickening, if Bumu wasn't already feeling rather sick from all this water. If Bumu didn't become a Jonin for all the shit he had to put up with today then there would be a few angry letters written in fox scratch.

The sea king was fast. Scary fast. It was only thanks to Bumu's incredible s- Okay, that's a lie. Bumu didn't even realize the Sea King had moved until the fish was behind him. The fox felt her spine crawl, and could barely get a response before his valuable air tank was being torn apart. Well, time to resort of plan B. Wait, was this plan be? Maybe it was plan Z? Ah yes, Bumu loved plan Z. As the sea king was biting into the air tank, Bumu took one last deep breath. The eruption of bubbles did an amazing job of hiding the fox from that deadly maw, so guess it was time. Slamming a palm against the tank, explosive tags began to slide down the canister. Crawling if the word was appropriate. Making their way easily into the sea king's maw, folding past his teeth and planting them in the insides of his mouth and throat. Bumu hoped the sea king was too bloodthirsty to realize this, but it didn't really matter. Placing a foot on the sea king's snout, Bumu kicked off, floating just out of reach as her hands clasped together.

If Bumu wasn't holding his breath, he might have made a witty one liner. Maybe something like "Smile you son of a bitch." But that might be too on the nose. After all, what other famous scenario involved a fish monster chewing on a air tank and getting blown up? As Bumu's hands clapped together, the first tag on the roof of the sea king's mouth exploded. Another on the inside of his cheek did as well, exploding inside the sea king. With any luck, the air tank would catch, exploding on its own for extra measure. Depending on how many tags Bumu managed to sneak in before having to escape and detonate, the sea king would hopefully end up with his insides powderized. Though part of Bumu was always that kind of optimist.

As for Bumu's clones, they buzzed through the water, catching Bumu and Koma easily. Thus pulling them away from the king, adding a little more distance in case of a counter. "Don't worry, we'll keep you two mobile!" A clone of Bumu grinned, alongside a clone of Koma. A clone of Kaba would also be in hot pursuit, ready to catch him for an escape as soon as they where done. They just needed the scroll, right? If the king's head blew up, they'd get the scroll! Wow, that's a morbid way of thinking.

Pain, that was the first thing that Kurin realized he was feeling. While his golem broke the flow, he wasn't safe. Lava splattered onto his face, scorching his cheeks and forcing him to lose focus. He staggered back as pain erupted on his chest and shoulders. He couldn't think, didn't want to think, he felt like he was about to shut down. Losing focus, he screamed, his uniform scorched and burnt. He was lucky in a way that he wore so much protection, but in the end this was still lava. The burns that scorched his chest, the terrible searing pain. Had he been a lesser shinobi he may have died from the pain. Guess that just goes to show how great his team was. If anything, his own biology was his saving grace. That unique vitality that made the Senju clan almost immortal saved his life, and yet... He blacked out.

When he awoke, he was on the grass... No... Not the grass, that was just what was nearby. He was on a makeshift bed, medical ninja running around. And yet, he felt stronger, not weaker. One of the medical team was all over him, checking his injuries. Kurin let his eyes roll down to the wounds, and for a moment he could see the damage. Skin was practically melted in some area, and judging from where the medical team was focusing he expected some scarring on his internal organs. And yet, he felt like laughing. He opened his mouth, and let out a winded sigh. Apparently he didn't even have the strength to do that. He'd be fine later though. But looking around, he could see the rest of his team, all of which where being tended to.

He wanted to speak, but he couldn't.
"Careful there. You probably breathed in something bad. You're gonna need to work on your stamina, those gases did a number on your lungs." One of the two medical ninja said. "You'll have some scarring on your chest, and that eye thingy you use? Maybe uh... They'll be some scarring there where the metal seared into your flesh. But we can set up an appointment for that later. Too risky to remove it right now." Well, isn't that just his luck... Guess barking orders at the rest of the team would be out of the question for a while. With a pat on the shoulder, he was told to stand up, stretching slowly as he stood. Kurin looked to his team, and took a step to Shizuka. Holding out a hand, he was making a silent gesture. He knew they did something like this in the land of iron. How you would hold out your hand to somebody you had bonded with. Even if it was a small gesture, he knew it was important. A single sign that said 'you're with me now.'

Hearing Jaakuna speak, Kurin looked to that hot blooded fire starter. It was clear the damage to his arms wasn't going to go away. He smiled, at least they worked well together. They'd have to work on some legit combo moves that didn't involve tossing him around like a toy on a string. Either way, he leaned down, tapping heads and smirking. Guess they were a real team after all. They'd probably have to come up with a new team name, one that wasn't a joke they wrote up. "Thank you." Kurin choked out, a hand on his chest. "Thank you, all of you."

LIGHTNING ROUND

Silently, a proctor was shaking his head as he watched all this unfold. Probably swearing to himself that he had to get stuck with a bunch of overly cautious ones. But, at least there was a smart one amongst them, even if she was literally ignoring one problem entirely to focus on something obvious. Silently he pulled out his hair as the second proctor sipped tea. "Relax dude. It's their own faults."

Back on the actual front of events, it was going... Well just going. Lots of wasting time, reseting barriers, planning to hit the drums. Etc. The proctor honestly just wanted to step in and tell them they only had to hit one drum, but fine. Hit as many as they wanted. Go, have fun. Honestly the sheer number of drums had been designed in intent to distract Raiju. Forcing the beast to jump from one drum to the other long enough for the team to focus on it. Hitting them all at once in such a way was just counter productive. So counter productive that when they hit the drums again, all the lights went out from the sonic force. Leaving the whole team in darkness.

Except for a single light. Raiju, perched in the naval of the buddha statue. Eyes sparking as it leapt out. And in the darkness, illuminated only by Raiju's appearance, the team could see that the statue they had worshipped so kindly was not Buddha. That joyous face, that kind look. Gone. Replaced with a toothy grin, a cruel gaze... The face of the great oni, Raijin.

On one positive, it seemed Ai was somewhat right about Raiju being a beast of chakra. But when one of her tags made contact, it burned up. Sizzling upon touch as volts of electricity tore right through it. Not even the seal could activate in time to stop the pure lightning that made this monster up. Smashing against the barrier again, the wolf was on the prowl, jumping about, leaving its master unguarded as he tried to tear through the barrier to any of the four who disturbed it again and again.

Most of all, the naval was left unguarded, and there, in plain view, shimmering in the darkness, was the scroll of lightning. One of them just had to grab it before Raiju caught them. They only had seconds lift to this, as the whole building began to rumble. The sonic force of the drums succeeding in breaking the structure, forcing their hand. They couldn't wait. They had to move. MOVE!

Seems like he was right. Those eyes of Nousagi's could see the falter, the drop of the knife, guess he was right. That was pretty satisfying. To be honest, he'd been just a little worried, but beyond all doubt, one must be the reality. But he faltered, blinding for a moment moment by the rush of death that filled his veins. His foot trembling, threatening to trip him right over. Was this fear? Death? His enemy had such killing intent! That small breaking of his focus slowed him, enough for Kaito's defense to work. The tight squeeze of Kaito's hands was actually pretty impressive. It was probably best for him actually, since it allowed him to continue for a moment longer.

The way Kaito spoke, it was fairly impressive. Honestly, the idea of just surrendering seemed almost plausible. After all, he'd already shown that he was the superior by almost taking out Kaito in one blow. That knowledge alone should be a source of pride. Nousagi smiled, a rare thing as far as others where concerned. All that rage, cool calculation faded away from a moment. And then, his left hand tightened. And instead of smiling, Nousagi's face contorted into one of pain. His eyes wide not in surprise or anything else but pain. From the sleeve of his left arm, there came the soft plip of blood. A small trickle of blood splattered softly to the ground, pooling beneath them. Then came the clang of metal. A length of ninja wire fell to the ground, blood coating the metal. It became clear exactly what he had done. Nousagi always used a length of ninja wire hidden in his sleeves as a weapon. A tool to attack from a distance if he needed to. But when he tightened his grip, he had pulled on the length of wire. Forcing it to squeeze, to constrict, and cut through the flesh of his non-dominate arm.

"Plan B, just in case I was wrong." The hyuga whispered softly, twisting his hand. His pointer and his pink held out as his hand curled up. Each of the two fingers pointing to Kaito's arms. He didn't hesitate this time. Suddenly, there was flash of chakra from his two fingers. Meter long spears of chakra lanced from each finger, or to those who knew it, this was Nousagi's Gentle Spear. The problem here was that it wasn't gentle. Because it was just like a spear, each more than enough to slice into Kaito's arms. It was far from lethal, and he didn't go any further than the bone. But the way he did it made it clear. He could go further if he wanted. And as his middle finger unfurled, aimed at Kaito's heart, it was clear that his threat could be lethal. "Surrender. I have you beat. If I wanted, right now I could do something terrible. Consider this your chance to forfeit, like how you offered me that same chance."

Had to admit, being called a pet was at least a little flustering. Like seriously? What else was she going to do? Start threatening to put bows into Bumu's hair? He completely expected having to turn down this offer though, since she still planned to be a shinobi at the end of the week. That and Bumu kinda liked his name... Since it kinda made him feel like an explosion, ready to go off and take the world with him. "I am what I am! And I chose what I am, got that?" Bumu said, a grin from ear to ear. Yeah he'd screwed up plenty, but they where still alive! Just goes to show this was another te-

Bumu's attention snapped back to the army of dead that lay floating in their own blood. The scent still nauseating. but at least he won, right? Wrong. And the deafening scream that reverberated though the water made that clear. Bumu's own sensitive senses betrayed her as the sound wailed into his ears. Brain pounding like a drum, vision fading in and out, blood dripping from Bumu's mouth as it felt like his own body would explode. In fact, when it finished, it was still pounding in his head, as if another would burst her ear drums. Guess this made it clear living underwater wasn't for him. By the time Bumu's senses returned, she looked up just in time to see the king of the deep. He was kinda hoping no such thing existed, but apparently that wasn't true. The scenario was slipping even faster out of control. Was diplomacy still an option? Maybe they could barter? Really really doubting that would work. Especially sin-

Wait... Bumu's eyes drifted to the body began torn apart between the sea king's teeth. His heart skipped a beat, and the fox felt nothing but fear. Why was Chojirō here!? Last time Bumu saw that fatty it was just before they took the water challenge. Bumu hadn't spared a single thought on it, just passing of the Akimichi's absence as hitting some limit, or maybe he backed out at the last minute. But now? It was clear for the first time that this test wasn't like the others. In those you would walk away with a bruised ego. Here? Right now? It was clear failure was death. And that shook Bumu to the core.

Reaching out, Bumu grabbed the closest operating air tank, taking a deep breath as he held on. Clearly she was against drowning, as that would put all the current hard work to nothing. His hands pressed together, and there was a loud puff of smoke. Instead of just one Bumu, there was now three. Heck, there was three Kabas and three Komas too! They where clones, thankfully made of explosive tags so they wouldn't have to worry about drowning. But... If the sea monsters attacked, the clones where more than capable of flying about the water, since they didn't have to worry about the whole swimming thing. And if they needed a ride, the clones where kinda like rockets, so that could be a quick escape.

This was working pretty well, at the start anyway. But as things continued to happen it became rapidly clear that things where coming down to the wire. Between the whole team, it seemed the fight was getting more and more exhausting, with only Kurin himself anywhere near full strength. And yet... He felt terrified. His heart racing like a drum. Not because he hadn't had to deal with this stress before, but for something very different. The Golem smashed the ceiling, melting the roots he'd grown there at the very start. And the room was rapidly heating up. Heat, his natural enemy. But that didn't scare him. No... What scared Kurin right now was the knowledge that it really was all up to him. As a leader he'd worked with teams that had struggled, but often times a screw up didn't mean death. Here? Right now? That knowledge was pumping through his head. But this is what a leader did. They had to be the one to make the world right. To protect his squad! When the chips where down this is his moment. He'd allow them to sacrifice for him so he could sacrifice for them!

"KURIN! Catch him!" Snap back to reality, oops there goes gravity. Kurin's arm reached out like a whip, easily snatching the fading Shizuka right out of the air. Pulling him right back, the wood shinobi turned to Jaakuna, holding out the defeated wind ninja. "Keep the Wind Seeker safe." Kurin ordered, turning away from his team. This had gone on to far. The heat that boiled through the room, the way everything seemed to shake... This moment... Kurin had decide this moment would go on no further! He reached into his bag, pulling out a stack of explosive tags. The red paper fluttered in the air, but it wouldn't remain that way for long. No, right now, more so than ever, Kurin had to use every ounce of his power! Hands pressed together, and the ground began to move. The metals, the earth, it all reacted to his desire. Mixing together, growing up and engulfing the fluttering tags. Layering them under the stone, it was time to be extraordinary. His chakra flared, risking to knock Kurin out. But he couldn't. He couldn't risk such a thing! HE COULDN'T LET THE SACRIFICES OF OTHERS BE IN VEIN!

Because that's just who he was. By the time he had finished, there was a golem of stone before them. A monster, a beast with all the force of a Senju behind it. If one could move spirits, moving the earth seemed like a great enough cause. For a moment the team could marvel the creature. Roughly 10 meters tall, not nearly as big as their enemy, but fine enough for what they needed. The golem wasn't alive for more than a second before it was moving. Barreling like a freight train into the lava. The phonzite material had been gathered near the legs, to keep the whole structure from collapsing right off the bat. The size alone would push it through, aiming to tackle the much greater threat in the room. As it got close, Kurin formed another handseal, considering this the ultimate in what he'd be able to get away with now. His golem raised a hand, and thick tree roots began to wrap out, Making the hand larger, aiming more than anything to grab for that lost core on its palm. No matter how the beast would try to pull away, those wrapping roots would be more then enough to grab hold. But Kurin wasn't done. No, he was their leader! He was the best of them all! He had to be! With three souls on his back, he couldn't stop!

Because entwined with those thick roots, was every single paper tag Kurin had. At least a stack of thirty had been used, possibly mixed in with any his allies had offered up. The pressure of his grip on the core, the size of his golem, the tightening plant roots, the bombs? This was it. ALL OR NOTHING!

Kurin stood there, his eyes focused on the golem. His team had done their part. Their part and more. Without Shizuka or Kiku they'd have nothing. All he wanted right now, wasn't to pass the exam. That seemed trivial right now. More than anything, he wanted to live up to the expectations of those who gave their all. He'd never be able to look himself in the mirror if he couldn't do the same.
