The desire to join an RP instead of run one, but the lack of anything being advertised or open that fits my interests

Why are people posting 1x1 'looking for' threads in the main section, when there's a whole section for 1x1 RP's?

It'd be nice to be able to *play* an RP I'm interested in for once, rather than having to *run* one all the time. Of course, doesn't help that I'm picky about what I enjoy.

Hmmmmm... PM inviting me to an RP on Discord by a user who just joined the site and has no posts? Doesn't sound iffy at all, no sir.

Bio

I've been roleplaying in one form or another since the late '90's. I've played as many tabletop games as I have online ones, and the quality of both has varied wildly.
I have an active imagination, and I love immersive, descriptive roleplaying. My genres of choice are sci-fi, and modern-day (with a sci-fi twist). I like RP's that mix reality with fiction, and throw an unusual and exciting twist into an otherwise normal setting - something like Stargate SG-1 would be an example, or Battle: Los Angeles. An almost recognizable world, but with some sci-fi twists.
I'm a fan of military and action-based RP's that do this especially, and they are easily my favourite - though I rarely see any that appeal to me enough - all the military RP's are too 'plain', and anything else modern day is usually fantasy or fandom. Or *shudder* school RPs...

I have a lot of fandoms; Transformers, Macross, MLP: FiM, Fallout, Battletech, Ace Combat, and others to varying degrees. But I don't often join fandom RPs because the ones I'm into don't come up, or I am very picky about my RPs and their plots and feel.

I don't play in free, as I find the short posts and bad spelling and grammar infuriating. I like a lot of depth, story, setting and character to my RPs, so am usually found in Casual and sometimes Advanced. Though, usually running my own RPs.

I'm 43 years old, and live in the UK, so I may not be on all the time.
I also like playing non-human characters, especially anthro ones, robots or synthetics, or some hybrid of both.

Outside of my RP tastes and hobby; I read a lot of books, play wargames and TTRPGs, make model aircraft and vehicles, and am also a brony and furry. I have been running a large local furmeet group for the last 10 years and have been involved in running a very successful UK MLP convention.

BTW: AV-8B "Plus" model. The British model lacks a cannon... or radar.

Thanks, but I do know quite a bit about aircraft - hence the interest in running this game xD
And you're not quite accurate - the British GR- Harriers - the ones used by the RAF - didn't carry radar, as they were primarily oriented on ground attack (and they were bloody good at it). The Sea Harriers used by the Royal Navy carried radar, as they operated from HMS Invincible and other RN aircraft carriers as their primary fighters, and did a fine job of it during the Falklands War in particular.
Both types could also be equipped with underfuselage 30mm ADEN gun pods, that looked much the same as the 25mm gun pod used by the AV-8B.

I'll be using an AV-8B though, so it's not particularly relevant! xD

Haven't seen you in a while. Was honestly quite surprised when I saw that you had recently taken a look at my profile.

However, I am interested in joining this.

Yeah, I took a break for a while - I got a bit burned out and frustrated with things so I needed some time away. However, I've got the RP itch again, so here I am. I had a look to see what all my friends were up to when I was back though, hence the look at your profile. Good to see you here again, and I'd be happy to have you onboard as well.

I'm working on the OOC, will be up this evening, UK time.
FYI in case I'm slow on responses or people wonder where I am; I work full-time and I run on GMT, so I'm in a different time zone to you US peoples, and I don't have as much time to check and respond to things as I might like, but I do my best.
Also, adult responsibilities, since I live with my partner, so cooking, cleaning, etc also have to come first :P
I also have other hobbies too, and I like to share my time - expect 1 post a week-ish (maybe two!) in the IC from me when we get going, and plenty of OOC chit-chat.

@Silverwind Blade

Oh is that so xD...

Well I guess there's always something to be drawn into... he he... uh... no evil plots.

Ah, too bad, I do love a good evil plot ;)
Silver is probably taking the F-15A/C... just a guess. Making them the super-fighter of the flight.

Actually, no - see my post above. I'm probably going to have an AV-8B, I was hmming and haaing over a Tornado as well; I'm still not quite decided and I'll probably do so once I've thought more about my character(s). Depends on if I want to create a pair or a single character.
I'll probably end up going with the Harrier II since I'd rather just run a single character.

I'll try and get the OOC up this evening. I have a couple of other things I need to do, so it's more likely to be tomorrow than tonight.
Also, glad you're joining us too, Foster; I wasn't sure from your initial post, but from your second one I gather you're along for the ride :)
@KiritoAsuna

So does anyone else going to be doing their post now?. Otherwise I suppose I make my next one to keep it rolling xxD

I don't really know what to post just yet, I'm kind of waiting for a good opportunity to be drawn into whatever's going on and start interacting with the other characters.

Dibs on Mig-31

Good choice! I like the MiG-25 and -31 for their sheer brute power. The angular look has something going for it too.

The F-15 is my favorite jet aircraft. If we ever go get super fighters, you can bet I'd want an F-15 STOL/MTD.

That's definitely a good route to go down. There probably will be upgrades as the game goes on, allowing fighters to use a wider range of weapons and increase some of their abilities etc. Though, it'll be over time and as a significant point of change in the story as things escalate, rather than a 'spend xp = mods' kind of thing.

I'll probably have a player character as well, not sure what aircraft I'll take. I do love the F-15 as well, but I'm tempted to go for something a bit different. I might go for a Tornado, or a Harrier.

I'll also get working on the OOC tomorrow and hopefully have it up by the evening (UK time). At least then we can get working on stuff, and it might attract some more interest too.
Absolutely. It's been a long time since I've been in the cockpit. I think the last time that happened, I had some nice blue accents on my F-15...

I'll be glad to have you aboard then! Definitely pleased to have another player, and especially one who likes F-15's too. They're one of my favourite aircraft as well.

We need one more person - though more would be better - to begin. Hopefully we'll get someone soon, though I could run it with just three and myself.
The sunshine rising over Ponyville poked a shaft of light between drawn curtains in a quiet room of one of the small towns' inns. As the questing beam of warm sunlight crept across the floor, dust motes dancing in its' glow, it slid onto the bed, and the form of a dark-grey coated pegasus, with red accents on his wings. Laid on his back, his legs were splayed upward at awkward angles, one rear leg twitching as he snored quietly with an open muzzle. As the sun crept onto his belly, he murmured and grinned dorkishly in his sleep half-saying words and chuckled softly as his face twitched, before finally he groaned and opened one bright green eye to the cosy glow of the room in Celestia's bright light.
"Urrgghhh..." he rasped and smacked his lips, blinking owlishly. "That Apple family hard cider is good stuff," he muttered as he rolled onto his side and winced. "Though, next time, do not get into a drinking contest with a Mare before you find out she's the expert".
He slid onto his hooves and took a long drink from the cold water faucer above the basin in the corner of the room, remembering over the previous night.
He'd flown into Ponyville late last night, ahead of a mapping mission over the Everfree Forest the next day (today, in other words). With a few bits in his purse he'd decided to enjoy his night after getting a bed, and had enjoyed the hospitality of the local tavern, and it's delicious local cider. Stories had been swapped with the other barflies, many of them talking about Princess Twilight and her friends, or other characters around the town. He'd got chatting with a mare older than him, with berries as her cutie mark, and their enjoying the drinks together had ended in an impromptu contest, which she'd clearly won, judging by his fuzzy memories and the headache in his temples.
He flicked his wings in a shrug - he'd had fun; and she'd been cute enough. It was worth it, in his book.
Feeling his stomach rumble, the pegasus retrieved his customary goggles and scarf from the floor, before making the bed and donning his saddlebags. His duty was waiting out there; the forest was waiting to be explored. But first, breakfast!

He trotted out of the door a few minutes later, having paid the mare at the counter. The smells of baking drifted in the light breeze and he followed his nose, nodding to a few friendly faces on his way, as he headed for an open-air cafe at the other side of the town square. As he took a table, he nodded at a few other ponies with a grin and sparkle of mischief and excitement with his eye, before the waitress came to serve him next. She was polite, and he gave her the same courtesy, ordering with a smile. He wasn't sure what he wanted, but seeing another pegasus stallion enjoying a clover sandwich, he nodded for the same thing, and sat back to wait for his order, glancing up at the cornflower-blue skies and enjoying the bustle of the little town as it started its' day.
Not totally my cup of tea, but i'll nibble. Interested.

-P

Hopefully you'll find something to enjoy about it, and I'll do my best to keep you interested. Thanks for the interest, too.
I also love your avatar!
Appearance:

Name: Silverwind

Species: Pegasus Pony

Age category: Young Adult (i.e. early 20's)

Gender: Male

Cutie Mark: See image above; represents his uncanny sense of direction.

Occupation:
Silverwind currently works as an explorer and scout for the Royal Equestrian Cartography Corps. In short, he flies high, far, and wide, charting the lands of Equestria - and beyond - to scout information, draw sketches and gather information for the Equestrian government in order to establish where resources are, what creatures and people live in different places, dangerous or inhospitable terrain features, and so on. Sometimes his role takes him over already known areas to explore in more detail things already found, or finding new routes after events like earthquakes or other changes to the landscape.
He loves the thrill of exploration and the potential danger it takes him into, although he frequently causes headaches for his superior, the unicorn named Compass Rose, by getting himself in trouble with locals and involved in things that, honestly speaking, should have nothing to do with mapping, exploring, or surveying...

Other:
Silverwind is bold and reckless, but good at heart. He can be cocky and a little arrogant at times, but can keep a level head for the most part, especially when things get serious or people are in danger. He wanted to be a Wonderbolt, but failed the entrance exam after losing his temper and acting recklessly, which lead to putting other ponies in danger.
Spitfire - whom he admired and had something of a crush on - punished him for his bad behaviour, and he was forced to leave the academy. Although, what he frequently fails to remember is that she also told him he had a lot of potential, and his heart was in the right place, even if his head wasn't.
Since then he has used his time in the RECC to learn how to be a better flier and to work on disciplining himself and working on his occasionally volatile temper, and his lack of self-control.
Silverwind was born and grew up in Mareford, a settlement in the Western regions of Equestria, high in the forested hills and mountains. He loved being out in the wild, and soaring between hills and through valleys. He has always had a sense of adventure and wanderlust that persists into his adult years, but even as a young, gangly, and mischevious colt with a twinkle in his eye, he would always find his way home, which resulted in his getting a cutie mark that displayed his innate knack for direction.
As a man who has always loved the air, I would like to show my interest.

Great stuff - glad to have you onboard. Hopefully we can get a few more people as well.
