Bio

Hello! Welcome to my little bio.

Not much to say, really. Just a horror game protag that likes writing and playing vidya games when I'm not being chased by the cosmic forces of darkness. (I'm a security guard that works night shifts usually).

Have some dancing medjed.

"Reina!" Before Isolde could react, her ward had been intercepted, knocked out and taken by some unknown person. Isolde's eyes widened with shock, before quickly turning into a determined scowl. Damn it, if only she had been more prepared...faster, or just been a better knight! "Marwood, keep everyone else together and follow!" She shouted quickly, grabbing Kergin's reigns in both hands, dashing off after the fleeing rogue. That narrow passage was not going to be easy for Kergin to traverse, but she had little choice if she wanted to save her friend. She wasn't going to lose Reina. Not now. She wouldn't loose them both on the same day. She refused to let it happen.

Boy, Seleth's getting all the hard questions, ain't she?

@PaulHaynek

Solace? Seleth tilted her head curiously, narrowing her eyes at Varjan. This wasn't like the Varjan she knew at all. What he said next only confused her more. He practically begged her to hear him out. How should she respond? Certainly, Aylama comforted and accepted all who came to her temples, but...Seleth was unsure. This was so far out of character for Varjan it shocked her. Or perhaps this was just like him. Judging a book by its cover, as they say. She never really knew him, after all.

"Are you a fool?!" Seleth blurted out in quite the unpriestly manner, eyes wide with concern as Varjan gripped her shoulders. "Aylama does not wish for death! She'd weep for the loss of life! Asking me if I could kill you..." Seleth's voice trailed off, narrowing her eyes at him. "What happened, Varjan?" Ugh, today was just terrible on all accounts. Her victory was nice, but the events that happened after...first the knight and now Varjan. What was she supposed to do here? One wrong word and Varjan could do something quite ridiculous.

Livia hadn't expected Monita to react so strongly to the suggestion. She could tell she liked the kittens, but she didn't think she'd be so strongly attached to them. Smiling faintly, Livia didn't seem to take any offense to the girls outburst. If anything, she seemed to find it amusing, especially more so when Nicolas told her why she had. It was good she was trying, at least, even if it was something that small. Taking the kitten back from the mayor, she gave the small animal an affectionate nuzzle before letting it climb on her dress.

"Aha, I don't think I can take care of more than one for now," Livia mused, kneeling in front of Monita. "I can tell you've taken quite good care of these kittens." She reached out, petting the feline girl on the head lightly. "Taking care of a living thing is no small responsibility. You've done well, from how well they seem to like you." Standing back up as the kitten had climbed onto one of her shoudlers. "And if you want, you can come play with him any time. Now lets see..." Humming lightly and petting the kittens face. What would be a good name...? "How about Crème, hm?"

Livia would spend the next ten minutes letting the kitten tire itself out, even taking off a shoe and letting it finally make an attempt to sit in it. In the meantime, she'd chat with the mayor and otherwise finish her tea and a few more of the cookies. Overall, this interaction went well. She got permission to explore that crypt and she might be able to get on extremely good terms with Maeda. A win win on all fronts...and she even got herself an adorable little kitten. Such a lively one, too! After he had finally tired himself out though, Livia would slip on her shoes again and politely excuse herself from the main area, saying good bye to both Monita and Nicolas, making sure to keep Crème cradled in her arms.

Once outside, Livia exhaled deeply, expression going from neutral to her usual resting annoyed visage as she walked down the streets to the school where Maeda was teaching.

How utterly annoying. Nicolas was the mayor? He seemed soft. A pathetic old man who was far too soft and indecisive. Ugh, she was getting a mild headache too. Dealing with any nobles - or anyone in power, really - was always headache inducing. They always preferred honeyed words over doing anything, and quite often were too stubborn for their own good. Nicolas was the worst sort of leader - soft. Likely always tried to find a way to get everyone out alive, or reduce casualties to a minimum. Such a naive and pathetic world view always did more harm than good. A power hungry tyrant who always wanted more was preferable than such a ruler. At least they were unafraid of spending just a little more manpower or danger to secure their security or dominance.

She supposed on some level she could admire such idealism, no matter how foolish it was. An ideal world did not exist when humans and people could so rarely agree on things for so long. Without a strong leader or someone to corral them and stop them, they always turned on each other after some time. Oh well, a thought for another time. She got what she wanted out of that meeting. Now that she had secured official permission from the mayor, she had no reason to play overly nice with Maeda. She just needed to tolerate her presence if she had to long enough to hopefully get results.

Exhaling again, Livia stroked the head of her new pet, finally arriving at the schoolhouse where she assumed Maeda was. Opening the door, Livia walked inside and looked for the teacher, making sure to keep Creme from running off.

Well, that hadn't been quite the answer she had been hoping for, but perhaps overall it'd be better. Having an Orc in a crypt would be dangerous any way you try and say it. She'd likely break something and potentially cause something to wake up herself. So the Mayor did have a point. It was dangerous, incredibly so. But that was life - to gain anything one had to risk danger or forever be relegated to a life of mediocrity.

"Aha, I suppose getting an Orc to listen to reason is something beyond me still." Livia laughed softly in reply. Maeda though? That was certainly someone she wanted to speak to about potential employment, so this would be a good use of her time. Killing two birds with one stone and all that. Mulling over the answer briefly with another sip of tea, Livia responded. "Very well then, Mayor Nicolas. With your permission I shall speak with Maeda about the situation in the mines. If there's nothing else you need, then I shall be on my - hm?" Before she could quite finish the sentence, a small mewling noise caught her attention next to her foot, and was pawing at her shoe, trying to get in it?

...

"...ahem," She cleared her throat, setting the teacup down. Leaning over, she picked up the kitten from the barrel, smiling brightly at it. "Mayor, perhaps if its not too forward for me to ask - perhaps I could take this little one with me?"

Deaths: 1

Oh, so he could teach her! Wonderful. Chieko was confident that she had both the aptitude and talent for it. She had to after all, right? She couldn't possibly succeed as a hero otherwise. Ha. Flawless logic. Well, Chieko saw no problems with this arrangement. Fortuitous even. They could keep them safe, or at least show them the ropes of how this place worked and she could well be on her way to being a certified hero in the next month, hah!

Yes, this was wonderful.

Affinity though? Was that like their elemental affinity or something? Defining what sort they could do? Huh, well she hoped she had-

”Irene!”

Vasilis' shout shocked her out of her musings. What was-

She saw the bandits. She saw the arrows. She saw Irene's ankle and arm pierced by an arrow. She saw Vasili's rage as he attacked the bandits. Just what - could she do? Her mind froze, unable to react to what was happening. A sharp crack echoed in her ears, pain filling her skull as her vision faded, her body hitting the ground.

...

...

...

The next instant, she was standing in the alley again like nothing had ever happened. She hit the ground again, legs giving out from under her as the weight of the situation tried to make sense in her brain. Irene and Vasilis...had...died? She had...died? Chieko's shoulders visibly slumped, the bag she was holding falling carelessly to the ground, the box the figurine was in getting mud all over it. She had died. She was certain of that, then how could she be here again? She felt the impact on her skull. She saw Irene and Vasilis likely head to their deaths. Had...the other two also died? But yet, here she was, where she had been just minutes ago completely fine. Physically at least This wasn't some dream or weird last-dying moments vision? Her mind tried to rationalize the situation, but it just couldn't.

Try as she might, Chieko couldn't stop some tears flowing.

Hero? Please, she was weak. She wasn't some legendary hero. She knew that. She was just using it because she had nothing else. That's what she was doing, and she knew it. She wasn't anything special. Just a pathetic, talent less girl who was sort of smart. She rubbed her face with her coat sleeve, sniffling as Aerith said something, rushing off to try and meet the other two. She was scared, wasn't she? That's what this was. She was in an unfamiliar place, without anyone she knew and without a shred of money or anything else to her name...realistically speaking, she should be utterly terrified, right? They all should be.

...

Grinding her teeth together, Chieko slapped the sides of her face with her hands. This was no good. No good at all. She was tougher than this, wasn't she?! Of course she was. She made it through high school. That shit was terrifying. Not as terrifying as death even, she'd say. She could handle this, right? She had to be tough for her little sister all the time.

...haha...

Sniffling again, she stood, pulling her scarf over her face again and dusting off her pants.

"A-aerith wait-!" But the girl was already gone. Damn it! Going that way was a bad idea. It'd be best if they walked in the opposite direction and tried to avoid that problem altogether for now. Maybe meet up with them elsewhere. Silently, she glanced at Hiro, seemingly unsure what they should do. Her confidence seemingly having wilted a bit, at least for the moment.

Chaos.

That's what the people had been reduced too. Katarina moved towards the scene of the supposed spirits attacking people. She grit her teeth as she ran, arriving on the scene, nearly running straight into some sort of dark miasma blanketing the area. What was this? Some sort of - it burned her lungs to even get near it. Whatever this was, it was the obvious work of some horror. Changing course, Katarina headed into one of the buildings nearby.

She ran through the doors, easily locating the stairs and quickly sprinting up the spire of steps towards the roof of the building. She barreled through the door to the roof, just in time to see someone fly out from within the dome. She paused for a moment as her steps momentarily faltered upon seeing the girl. Kat could immediately tell - that thing was not human. Whatever it was caused a primal, unsettling and unreasonable fear to crawl across her skin.

"Blood of Iron, heart of steel," She began the chant, the steel bow of her resolve forming in her let hand, grey metal forming into existence from nowhere. "Unwavering resolve - so as I pray -" Her black leather jacket elongated, becoming red as her clothes disappeared, being replaced by a black skin tight body suit as she hefted the bow in front of her. A large metal object was forming in her other hand. The shapeless grey metal began transforming, forming into an almost comically large javelin that would surely almost kill anyone unlucky enough to be pierced by it. "Fly true, sword of justice!" She knocked the javelin on her bow, quickly taking aim at the girl flying in the distance before she was spotted.

The snap of the bows metal wire was heard, launching the projectile as it whistled through the air. Quickly, she formed several more smaller ones, knocking them and firing more before her opponent could get very far hopefully. If she ran - Katarina would give chase until the hunt was successful.

Fufu, it seemed her spirits caused quite the stir! Judging from the chaos, it had attracted other people as well! Glorious! Chloe smiled as she continued to head down the street. To anyone else, she'd just look like your average happy little girl dressed far too oddly. Of course, to anyone who might even have a modicum of sense they'd probably realize she was, in fact, not. Ah, what to do, what to do....the Mint should come knocking sometime soon so she'd have to deal with them. Not that she cared too much, she wasn't concerned about them. If they wanted to blacklist her, she'd just slaughter every last one of them.

...hoho, but she could also do something else.

"Say, what do you think of me having a bit of fun with someone the Mint sends?"

"Those are limited resources - do not waste them."

"I know, I know! But we could gain a powerful ally if we're successful."

"We might also turn the entire organization against us. Until we accomplish our original task, I forbid it."

"Tsk, no fun...and so demanding." Chloe sighed, shaking her head. "...and if they ask?"

"Figure it out yourself."

With an abrupt silence, Chloe smiled, chuckling to herself. So impatient.

Livia listened quietly as Mayor Nikolas explained the situation, not minding the kittens one bit. Overall it seemed like the town was doing well for itself. The people seemed well fed and taken care of, and if the Mayor was to be believed then it was quite a successful little town. The problem with the orc tribe however, was concerning. The loss of good men, as the mayor put it, was not an ideal situation. She supposed she could understand why Nartur was expecting her to be rude or mistrustful. The sizable Militia presence as well. An expected reaction because of previous events.

Livia took a sip of tea. Hm. Perhaps she could find a way to leverage that situation for her own benefit. Orcs were an unruly lot at best, and difficult to corral with just words alone. A thought for later. The mayors information about Maeda was certainly helpful. Either help with research or an assistant teacher...hm, she could easily do both. She spent enough time around magical instruments in her time learning from various mentors. When the cats tried to bother her, Livia simply returned the playfulness with a smile, petting a few on the head.

Nartur's position was quite the conundrum though. Humans could be so ridiculously fickle, excluding and shunning others for the most ridiculous of reasons. Pathetic, really. They should all strive to be better, but such was not something humans were capable of. Or any sentient being really. No matter.

"I see." Livia began, mulling her thoughts over as she held the teacup in front of her. The mayors fears and position was understandable. However, she also felt it was needless and baseless. The supposed crypt was a potential trove of knowledge or lore waiting to be cracked open and discovered. Simply guarding it wouldn't do anyone any good...if a few people so happened to get injured during the process, then that was simply the way it was. "Nartur seems like the honest sort, and I do understand your concerns, Mayor." She continued. "Potentially waking up some old spirit or something would be quite difficult to handle. Especially with so few skilled wizards and the like around." Her tone shifted from conversational to serious, frowning lightly, setting the teacup back on the tray. "However...leaving it alone also poses danger. Prevention is often the best remedy for a problem. If this crypt does have something that is dormant, waiting for a chance to wake, it would be better to discover what it is and the best method for fighting it before it happens, would it not? Best to face a potential threat under prepared than let it catch you by surprise." She fixed the Mayor with a stern gaze. "As such, I will offer my historical and knowledge of the arcane to help in this endeavor. With your permission I will take Nartur and perhaps a few other guards simply for safety, and discern what this old ruin is and whether it poses a threat. You have my word I will not stir up any trouble and I will report to you immediately should I find something potentially dangerous."

A win win for everyone involved. She gets some potential arcane lore, Nartur gets the potential respect of the people back, and the mine gets busy again and can focus on other things.

~The cavern~

Bah, still nothing! She felt like she was getting better at it, but the skill still escaped her. She would have frowned, had her lizard face been capable of it. Instead she made a low hiss of frustration. Seemed progress on her own was going to be extremely slow going still. she scratched her nose with one of her claws. Tired, but she couldn't rest. Too dangerous, especially with the fighting between the goblins and others still underway.

"Oh, Reoth." Actually...perhaps trying to teach him could help the progress along? "I had Scott make a healing stone for me when we first met." She explained. "He can enchant things with magic for later use, it seems. Quite the useful skill. I can't quite use it yet, I'm trying to learn it myself but it isn't quite so easy when you don't have a pixie showing you." She mused, chuckling lightly. "I can perhaps show you a bit, but I think it'd be better for another lesson from Scott or Naji." She turned to Scott and Naji as Danny came hovering over.

"True, though perhaps the better you get at magic the easier that will become. With the way things seem so far, It seems logical to assume that there are skills that should help with that." But more on that later. "Scott!" She called over to the other pixie. "Do you think you or Naji could give me another lesson in magic?"

@Lucius Cypher

It didn't take long for Livia to get an answer. As soon as she knocked on the door, light footsteps began approaching. Soon the door opened and someone she did not quite expect opened the door. She had to refrain from reaching out and petting the girl on the head.

A small girl with feline features opened it. Ears, and two tails. Livia's eyes widened momentarily. A Tabaxi? Couldn't be, they were far more feline and this girl was more human than feline. Not to mention she had two tails. Something quite rare to begin with. If she had to guess she was some sort of hybrid made between a human and Tabaxi, but she had certainly never heard of something like that before. What was more intriguing though, was her attire. It was foreign, originating from a land called Kogami. If that wasn't odd enough, It was extremely expensive. At least on the upper end of 50GP just for a child.

She made a mental note of these facts. Perhaps might prove enlightening later.

Before she could even respond to the girls question though, the voice of what she could only assume to be the mayor echoed from within. Seemed she had good timing then. Livia followed the girl in, glad to be out of the weather for now as she loosened the cloak to rest around her shoulders. This place certainly was nice, for a place so far out in the country. The paintings were quite well done indeed - she even recognized a few places as locations she passed while traveling here. Perhaps the Mayor has a reserve of money from somewhere, if the slip the girl made was any indication. It'd be difficult to acquire such clothes as hers. Overall, it was quite the cozy little home. Nothing she was quite used too, but it certainly helped remind her of home a little.

As she entered, two other people were there. An old man and...an orc? One who expected hostility or rudeness in return, it seemed. Well - such things Livia considered herself above. Race meant nothing to her, only the merit of ones abilities. She said nothing immediately in reply, she simply gave Nartur a cool glance and focused instead on the room -

"Oh my goodness those kittens are adorable." Her face changed from her usual expression as a smile covered her lips, walking quickly over to a couch where a kitten was rolling around, and had somehow managed to get stuck between the cushions. She let the Orc and the Mayor finish their discussion as she attempted to get the kitten to play with her. Something about the Mayor being a coward? Was trouble brewing somewhere? Curious. She heard about the mines and the thievery, but was there something else they were trying to keep under wraps? When Nartur finally left, Livia was sitting on the couch calmly.

"Aha, don't apologize." She replied calmly, a small smile forming on her lips. "I should be the one apologizing for coming in somewhat unannounced." She eyed the letter he had curiously. Of course her mother sent a letter.

Hag.

"It is a pleasure to meet the both of you, Mayor Nikolas, Monita. Don't worry about the quarters either. I realize I am far from Alenoa where my name holds not as much weight. I shall make do at the Inn for now like everyone else." She poured herself some of the tea that Monita bought, taking a small sip. It wasn't her first choice of lodging, but what had to be done had to be done. The tea was surprisingly good. Not as good as Nynettes, but she could hardly complain. Better than being served cheap wine or beer. Onto more important matters though.

"As for why I am here...well, I originally simply came to inform you of my arrival. It'd be rude to arrive and not at least introduce myself." She continued, setting her teacup back on the tray. "As well as I wanted to ask about the general well being of the town. Perhaps ask if there was anything around town that needed someone with knowledge of the Arcane or scholarly interests that need doing." She needed to secure a source of income first, after all. "From the rumors outside though, I can safely assess most of the situations." She mused, taking one of the cookies. "But perhaps if its not too intrusive - what were you and Miss Nartur discussing?" She took a bite out of the cookie as she expectantly waited for his reply.
