I just can't. This is too much. Berserk was so influential on so many things that I love. Goodbye, Miura. You'll be missed by many.

Bio
Hello! Welcome to my little bio.
Not much to say, really. Just a horror game protag that likes writing and playing vidya games when I'm not being chased by the cosmic forces of darkness. (I'm a security guard that works night shifts usually).
Hm. Well, Viola's opinion of the alchemist was going up the more he spoke. Perhaps her other roommates wouldn't be too terribly annoying after all. Maybe she could find some sort of...worth while to stay here. Last year had just been annoying if she was to be honest. A whole lot of nothing and the mages saying she couldn't go into the dangerous area simply because she was a novice. What was she, a child? She liked being spoiled like one, but she didn't like being treated like one in other matters. Hm, well, no matter. If they weren't going to let her grow, then she'd just fix that this year.
"...oh wonderful." The sound of the door being kicked open pulled Viola from her thoughts as she exited Nicks room. "We have a noisy one." She frowned lightly, looking the girl up and down with a decidedly disinterested expression. The person who interested her more however, was the one who came in shortly after her. Meriun. Upon seeing her, a small smirk formed on Viola's lips.
"And I would take dear Meruin's warning to heart." Viola said, walking past the group and up to Meriun. "Take it from someone who's both played with and met one before...they are wonderfully fun but fickle beings. Angering one will not be to your benefit." Once near Meruin, Viola gave a small chuckle, bowing her head lightly as she introduced herself, mostly ignoring La'Tavia. "A pleasure, Meruin. I've heard quite the many tales of you...Viola Rifei. I don't have quite the same reputation as you do." She motioned into the dorm with a hand. "...and if its not too much trouble, I would like to discuss something over a cup of tea."
The spell hit, but Vertti kept running. Mie wasn't slowing down either however, and a noble with almost no athletic ability had no hope of simply outrunning a trained assassin. She would catch her soon enough - she was just delaying the inevitable, and as soon as she tripped her fate was sealed. She fell hard, and Mie took her chance. She slammed into Vertti's back, pining her to the cold, stone floor. Wings bound, its fate was presumably sealed.
"Why?" Mie chuckled, though she wouldn't be able to hear as long as the spell persisted. "You just answered your own question, my little butterfly." Normally, Mie would just slit throats and be done...but there was a bigger issue at hand here. Vertti was currently more valuable alive than dead. There was a hawk roaming the plains, thinking a little fox would be its meal? Or was it a bear laying in wait when the workers were all gone to fell a beehive? Those were questions Mie was going to need answered, whether Vertti wanted them to answer or not.
A subtle twitch of her ears made Mie leap backwards, a spear barely having missed her throat. Ah. The little adventurer that was looking for Vertti. How annoying. Couldn't she just have not done her job? So tiring. Perhaps she should have sabotaged her earlier. Well no matter...she was in quite the predicament, wasn't she?
"...Happy, my pretty little butterfly?" Mie was smiling, but there was no joy in her voice. "I don't think I've felt such a thing since I was a child...and quite frankly my dear, I no longer can bring myself to care about anything." A dry chuckle. Whatever she was speaking of, Vertti wouldn't know. Mie wasn't one to talk of her past so easily. Not because she was trying to make herself seem more tragic or as a victim. She'd be the first to admit she was a pathetic waste of air. Just like everyone else. Every other dishonest soul that claimed otherwise.
But now wasn't the time for a monologue. Mie turned her attention back to Aer, body tense and ready to respond with a shamak should her opponent attack. Concerning. The guard was on their way here.
"When I was given this job, for the first time in a while I hesitated. It's a shame really. I did so love our visits and playing with little Grisaia...and since I doubt you'd be willing to come along peacefully and tell me of the rat trying to fight a fox den," A toothy, predatory grin formed on Mie's face. "I suppose I am going to need to plan how to inform him of your death. Shamak"
Mie fired another spell towards Aer. Her skill with magic was by no means good, but she could at least do this much. She sprinted towards the adventurer, intent on first disarming her. She couldn't spend too much time on this.
~Chieko Okawa~
????? Death count: 1 Reset Count: 4
...?
Chieko turned back to face Aerith. What was she going on about? Aerith certainly did like to talk, didn't she? Chieko was only half listening at this point. She was tired. Exhausted. Emotionally drained. She just wanted to flop down onto a bed and take a nice, long nap, so why was Aerith wasting their time with this - Wait, what? Nothing? She thought she was nothing? Family back home? Chieko blinked, unsure of how to respond to all of this as she finally began listening in full to Aerith's rant. She wasn't taking anyone's side, was she? She just wanted to...not get anyone else involved. She wasn't blaming Aerith for anything! If anything she and Hiro were the only ones she had trusted completely. After what happened the first time...how could she not? She was about to say as much as well.
It was then she noticed the tools in Aerith's hand. Her eyes widened, but she was far too slow.
"AERITH!"
Her legs felt weak. Her hand shakily reached out for the now dead girl as her body fell to the ground.
Why?
Why had it all gone so wrong again?
Why did she fail? All she tried to do was help...why...
Chieko's shoulders slumped. She stared at Aerith's lifeless body, tears quickly forming in her eyes. What could she have done? Her mouth got the better of her again, hand't it? She should have just not said anything. She should have just...faded into the background. Like always. Not be heard or seen. At least then, Aerith wouldn't have...wouldn't have...
Chieko couldn't register what was going on with the others. Her knees gave out, all she could do was cry. She was tired. She wanted to go home. She just wanted her bed. Her little sister. Her games. Her instant ramen and junk food. Were the others fighting? She couldn't tell. Some pathetic hero she was. She couldn't even protect her friends, let alone herself. Was someone talking to her? She couldn't tell.
She just.
Wanted this to all be over.
"A-ah?" She suddenly found herself being picked up, slung over the shoulders of the Elder Sibling. She was too tired to fight or to even do anything. She could hardly even see anything through the watery tears in her eyes, but she could see one thing as she was being carried away by the Elder Sibling.
Ashton stabbing Hiro.
"H-HIRO!"
The next instant, she felt herself fall, slamming into the ground on her stomach. She didn't move, she didn't want too. She just wanted to lay there. For the first few exchanges of conversation, she did just that. What could she have done differently? Why had they all done that? Why? The question Chieko had only one obvious answer too. But she couldn't lay here forever, could she? Chieko slowly pushed herself to her hands and knees, tears still flowing. Sloth? Was that someone's name? The next name dropped was Lust...and it was from a person that Chieko almost couldn't believe existed in the first place.
Chieko gazed up at the various figures from her position on the ground, mildly awestruck by their appearance. Just...who? Gods? Angels? Demons? Those were her first assumptions. There was something unsettling about them, but as the hand was held out by the one who soon introduced herself as Gluttony, Chieko took it weakly as she pulled herself to her feet.
"D-delicious...?" Chieko had no idea how to respond, other than to blush profusely. Inappropriate? Just a bit, but Chieko didn't entirely mind. Not at the moment at any rate. Her mind was still trying to process everything that just happened. Aerith...Hiro...she flashed a dead gaze towards Ashton as Lord Talus showed back up.
That was a wound that was never going to heal.
Chieko turned her attention back what Lord Talus was saying. Sentinels? Authorities? Checkpoints? A ton of valuable information was being dumped here. Gluttony released her hand, but Chieko couldn't help but to wish she didn't...and the Fairy? She 'Loved her'?
...This was a lot to take in at once.
But for the moment, things seemed to calm down. Chieko looked to the beauty in front of her, letting her words sink in more as her mind had a moment to catch up to the events. Game? Lovers? Delicious?
"D-Delicious?!" Chieko quickly used her jacket sleeve to wipe away her tears, trying to make herself look slightly more presentable. Was she being hit on? And she was pretty sure they said that 'wrath' loved her too. What should she do here? Or say? Honestly, she still wasn't feeling her best after all of that...but honestly? This Gluttony was the most welcoming thing she had seen since this whole mess started. And you know what? She just really needed a hug right now. She leaned forwards, silently burying her face right in Gluttony's chest, not thinking much of it. For the next few moments she just stood there, not thinking about anything as she slowly got her mind working back in proper order.
"...sorry. I'm really just...tired. And I don't really get what's going on right now."
She didn't have to wait long for one of her roommates to show up, it seemed. Barely even having started checking the dorm, and one of the others showed up. If she judged a book by its cover, she'd say this one was 'zero actual content'. The pretty boy quickly introduced himself as Nick. At least he seemed friendly. She was slightly concerned she'd get roomed with some neanderthal but he seemed the polite sort if nothing else so far.
"A pleasure to make your acquaintance." Viola greeted with a smirk, closing her parasol and dropping it, only for it to float away into the bedroom she had claimed as her own. She followed Nick into his room as the poltergeists worked to get her room prepared. "Don't mind the ghosts pretty boy, they're harmless...mostly, and make for wonderful housekeepers." She took a quick glance around the room, taking note of his personal affects and quickly determining he was some sort of potion maker. Hm, perhaps the book had some worthwhile content after all.
"An alchemist of some sort, are you? My, I almost thought that pretty face was all you had but if you're setting up all this you might actually have something valuable between that head of yours." Smirking in a friendly manner, Viola curtsied lightly. "Viola Rifei. Charmed. I shall leave you to setting up your room, hm? If you need any help do tell. My friends love keeping themselves busy." As much as she wasn't too keen on sharing a living space with other people, there was no need to be rude to them. Needless friction would only cause trouble later on.
Making her way through the students, Viola spun her parasol lightly in her hands as she walked to the dorms. So lively. It was always amusing watching other students and what they got up too. Someone shouted something about a dead body, making her laugh. If whoever it was thought a dead body was shocking he really needed a lesson in the macabre and shock. Bodies were a dime a dozen and any mage worth their talent would never be scared of one.
But of course, she didn't say anything. She had better things to do at the moment.
Soon enough, the young girl reached her dorm. Room 27-A. She had already had a few of the poltergeists following her around collect some information on it, namely her roommates. The only one that remotely interested her was the one by the name of Meriun Hazy. Someone she could indeed get a bit cozy with. She had heard rumors and talk of course, but for the most part Viola didn't buy them. Humans were scum, after all.
She hated every single one of them.
Walking up to the dorm building, a trail of dozens of suitcases and other items following behind her, Viola shoved through the crowd earning a few annoyed and surprised shouts as she had the poltergeists shove a few people out of the way with her suitcases. From there it wasn't too difficult to find her dorm. Once there, she didn't even bother knocking and simply waltzed in as though she owned the place.
"The decor in the place is drab as usual..." Viola sighed, frowning lightly as she entered. "Alright then...well you all know what to do. Biggest room. Decorate it." Turning to the dorm proper as her suitcases were carried off in the direction of the nearest unoccupied room, Viola observed it quietly before calling out. "Are any of my gracious roommates here already perchance?"

It seemed she was about to lose this battle. Ralia got off her confusion, but it wasn't enough. Bellawesome closed in, speeding through the clones that were left right towards the small Ralts. The small psychic type tossed her hands up in the air, standing up straight as though she were about to be arrested as the leaf blade came right for her neck.
Yet the strike never came?
"E-eh?"
"R-ral?"
Claire was understandably caught off guard by this turn of events, Ralia was too. Claire looked from Bellawesome to Archie, then back to Ralia. The Ralts hadn't moved an inch and was still alive and well, though from the beads of sweat forming on her head she wasn't doing to well as she tried to do her best impression of a pokemon statue. She was so caught off guard by both Archie and the turn of events, she almost missed the Revive being thrown at her. It smacked right into her head, quickly bringing the redhead back to reality as she snatched it before it hit the ground.
"A...revive?"
At first, Claire was a bit angry. Was she being messed with? Patronized? Archie didn't seem the type, but she couldn't help but feel slightly agitated by potentially being given a freebie. On the other hand...she did want to win, and she certainly didn't mind using this to achieve that...so she had a dilemma. Should she take the freebie? Her pride was hurting at the thought. She had lost, that much was certain. Claire looked at the healing item in front of her, then back to the pokemon, then back to Archie.
"...urgh, I feel kind of bad taking this." Claire grunted, smirking in a mildly angry fashion. "I lost fair and square. Taking a freebie just isn't my style." Claire continued, sighing. It might be odd for a trainer to say this. She could imagine other people would take this offer, but... "Thanks, but I'll take the L here."

Just what in the hell was going on here, Vi hadn't a clue. She had been relying on the physical guys to handle any threats so far, since she didn't seem to have a very good grasp of her abilities yet. Yet as soon as shit hit the proverbial fan, they were being utterly useless. Their claws went right through the strange otter creature as though it was made of nothing. Were they similar to her? Some sorta ghost thing?
That said, now that they were back in the cave...Vi let go of Trevor's shiny bald head, moving swiftly as she could back into the cave. Time to play hero, as they say. Perhaps she had been wrong about before. Maybe it had been her that flung that stick. Only one way to find out. Focusing her mind once more, luminescent blue eyes focused on the bidoof as she tried to concentrate on frying it alive with her mind once more.
"Do you have everything you need, Viola?" The large, dark hallways of the Fiore estate were cold in the midnight air. Not even the large fireplaces that usually warmed the ancient halls could keep all areas of the ancient Gothic estate warm entirely. Not that either of them minded. They both rather enjoyed cooler temperatures, after all. If anything, Livia couldn't handle heat well.
"Hm? Of course, mistress." The small girl giggled as she sat the teacup back on the saucer in front of her. The dining room was a large place, definitely built to house more than three people at dinner time. The place didn't seem to have electricity, or if it did it wasn't in use. The only source of light was from the fire place and a set of large chandeliers. "Same as last year, no? And don't worry. Finding a friendly little Sylph or Undine to play with shan't be difficult, hehe. Who knows...maybe I'll find a cute little devil willing to be my playmate." She leaned back in her chair, smirking idly to herself.
"Ah?~" Livia hummed. "I would hope so or you'd be a failure of a student." She chuckled to herself from across the table, bringing her own teacup to her lips. "You played around too much last year, you know. You should already be much further along in your studies...though your carefree attitude is admirable."
"Oh my. Is the ever so great Mistress Fiore complimenting me? You should tell me how great I am more, hehe. Maybe give me a pat on the head~" Viola impishly giggled as she stood from the seat. The silverware and tea set on it, starting to float ever so lightly before seemingly carrying themselves off to the kitchen.
"Giving credit where it's due is only right." She replied, taking a sip of the tea. "Regardless, I expect you to be much further along by the end of the year." She sat the teacup down, giving Viola a cool gaze. "Or we will have problems. Understand, dear?"
"Tsk, so little faith in me, Mistress."
"Faith, is for short lived humans who lack the conviction to do things themselves." She took another sip of the tea. "Transient I am not and Conviction is something I have in droves, lest you forget."
"So serious, as always." Viola giggled. "Ah, but don't worry, Mistress. I shan't disappoint you...I aim to please, after all." Livia simply smiled, passing the tea to a silver-haired servant.
"Dismissed then, dear." She said, waving the small girl away. "Cynthia, show Viola out. Being late would be rude to those insufferable mages." The servant bowed, before walking out of the dining room, her footsteps echoing off of the tiled dining room floor. As she left, Livia simply rest her elbows on the table, folding her hands together as she rest her chin on the back of her hands. "I shall be in the labs when you return."
...how troublesome.
Blue light flashed, the teleportation Glyph lighting up in a pleasing display of arcane energy as new students shuffled in. Viola was no different, though it was her second year here so she wasn't quite so caught up on how it worked. It was beyond her current understanding anyways - though in time she would put effort into figuring it out. Curiosity, or just a lust for knowledge in general was one of the major driving factors of her even attending this school when she could simply learn all she wanted too from the Fiore Estates libraries and dungeons.
Of course, she supposed if she didn't then she'd never be able to get rid of her teacher then, would she? If she only learned from her, then she would know everything she was capable of, fufu. Mistress Fiore was as paranoid as she was powerful.
All in due time.
Viola stepped off the glyph, her suitcases of luggage floating unsteadily behind her. To say she had a lot, was an understatement. It seemed she planned on decorating her dorm entirely to her liking, if the carpets and large number of suit cases she had with her was an indication. It was likely giving a few of the students who didn't know her a bit of a startle, especially if they got near them. No magic seemed to be holding them, and she didn't seem to be commanding them directly. Of course, those in tune with undead and the more spiritual natures of the world would realize quickly she had a small army of small, though mostly harmless spirits following her and doing most of the lifting.
She took note of a few people harassing the first years.
"Haaa, some people have no class." Viola mused, smirking silently. "At least wait until the people get properly settled." As the orientation began for the first years, Viola headed elsewhere - towards the dorms, luggage floating behind her.
"Ahh...another year another waste of time." She dearly wished to get there before her roommates did. Better to ask forgiveness than permission after all, heh!
"Do I know you? No, I don't think so, But do you want to play anyways? No? Waaah? You'll make a little girl cry...That's too bad...I am Viola Rifei, pleasure to make your acquaintance."
Name: Viola Rifei
Age: 17
Gender: female
"Despite my appearance, I am not a child and would appreciate it if you did treat me as one...unless you plan on spoiling me. Then go ahead, hehe~"
Appearance: Standing at rather short five foot even and usually sporting a slightly mischievous, somewhat knowing seeming smirk, Viola is definitely not what one would call physically impressive. Slender, and lacking any sort of definite muscle. Sometimes, she is mistaken for a child because of her appearance. Her skin is free of any blemishes and markings of any kind. Her eyes are a dark grey color and sports black colored hair that falls well past her shoulders.
Clothing wise, she is a fan of rather complicated and somewhat eccentric and expensive dresses, preferring darker colors such as black, purple, and dark blue. Her current dress is a black dress, with white accents and red bows that falls to her waist where it meets a pair of black stockings and dress shoes. Why she chose to wear those instead of something more suiting is anyone guess. Some assume she's simply the child of a wealthy family and takes very good care of herself and is quite the pampered little brat, and doesn't know any better. She comments she simply likes the style.
Year: 2nd.
Rank: Novice
Room No: 27-A
Personality: Viola...definitely does not behave the way her appearance might suggest. At first impression, she'd come off as incredibly formal and polite. Talk with her long enough though, and you'll find a somewhat self-centered, cynical, mischievous, somewhat playfully aggressive little girl who has a rather large seeming ego. However, this is just her attempting to be 'cute' or 'cheeky'. Truthfully, she doesn't take her own words to heart, and would never consider herself better than anyone.
After that, she is fairly friendly and likes meeting people and being around people, and also simply likes watching them for...entertainment purposes.
Another thing to note, would be an insatiable curiosity about anything and everything. Magic, history, technology...everything. While her physical skills are lacking, her academic studies and focus on such things likely make her one of the smarter persons in the school.
However, like with everyone, she does have her own vices and sins. Hers, is curiosity and a lust and love of all knowledge, and her rather cynical and logical outlook on life and people, despite her seeming playfulness. She, would do anything for the sake of knowledge, and her curiosity drives her to meddle in quite a number of affairs, especially ones that offer the most entertainment value. For the most part, they are likely to be harmless...but perhaps, it could get everyone into trouble one day.
She finds direct shows of force boring and pathetic, preferring the more subtle and less direct arts.
Magic Discipline: Existence
Spirit Contractor/Summoner
Simply put, Viola is quite in tune with the spiritual forces of the world. Creatures that initially have no corporeal form, or possibly those creatures such as Naiads, Dryads, or Nymphs, she can usually communicate with on some level. This can offer her quite a bit of versatility when it comes to combat and skills, as each spirit offers her a differing set of abilities, usually. She may even 'Contract' a spirit, as in give it a physical form and have it become a permanent partner until she decides to terminate that contract.
Some things to keep in mind though, is that summoning spirits usually takes quite a while, depending on the skill of the summoner and the rank of the spirit. It is also a one time deal, the duration of their help only usually lasting for a brief moment in time, lasting typically anywhere from fifteen to thirty minutes. This can have quite the downside in a direct conflict, since she would require protection of some sort to be able to summon one. The power of the spirit varies, but typically they can be quite devastating against most foes. They may manifest themselves as a separate entity, or merely lend a fraction of their power to Viola for her to command themselves. Another spirit summoner could possibly force the spirit back to wherever it came as well, should they be skilled enough.
Contracting a spirit is entirely different, however. It requires the contractor to make a deal with the spirit, for whatever reason. Upon completion of the contract, the spirit begins living 'with' the mage, typically they start sharing a body, and their power is easily summoned by the mage. The contents of the contract can be anything the spirit or mage desire. This offers quite an advantage over simply summoning one for a duration of time. However, the downside is they are unable to summon another spirit for as long as this contract is taken, and they can only contract one, possibly two at the same time, and its sometimes quite a difficult process and the mage can sometimes get the bad end of the deal if they're not careful and are dealing with a less...nicely inclined spirit.
To contract one, it varies from spirit to spirit. It could be as simple as a binding, verbal agreement, or as bad as a seal signed in blood.
Currently, as a simple Novice she is capable enough. Summoning a spirit typically requires quite a bit of time, though and she would need to be quite careful when contracting a stronger one, and she currently doesn't have one. It is more difficult to forcibly send back a contracted spirit, as by law of the contract they are forbidden from leaving until they terminate the contract. It is possible to summon a particular 'entity' should one know its true name and whatever else one may need to call it to their side.
Equipment: Carries a journal on her, where she keeps up with various spells, rituals, and names of potentially interesting spirits she learned from her master.
Biography: Viola's life has been rather...mundane, if one counts being raised by a Mage who made it quite clear she wasn't her parent as mundane. That's not to say Livia wasn't a loving guardian figure, but she was incredibly strict and made sure Viola knew the meaning of the word 'Study' and 'Academics'. In fact, the two got along surprisingly well, with Viola's natural curiosity and propensity for things of the academic nature, save for the both of theirs rather...mischievous natures.
When she was ten, she started learning the practical applications of magic, starting with simply 'seeing' the spirits. When she was twelve, she started learning how to communicate with them, which was made difficult by the fact that each spirit sometimes had a different way to communicate. A different dialect, language, or sometimes they didn't communicate at all, depending on their origins. When fourteen, she summoned her first spirit under Livia's supervision.
That was about the extent of their relationship. Livia told her should should pursue her own studies after that. Viola of course, decided to take her up on that offer and has been studying at B.U.M. for the past year or so.
Master: Livia Fiore. A User of spirit herself, who insisted upon being called 'Mistress' when she was apprenticing under her. She taught her the basics and saw her through her first summoning, but after that Viola was on her own. Livia, and likewise Viola, are large believers in independent study and after making sure she knew everything in theory, she let Viola go and study on her own.
It's unlikely she will take another, unless the benefit would be too great for her to say no too.
If [Viola] was forced to sacrifice something important in order to move forward, it would be: Anything is fair game, it would just depend on if the sacrifice was worth it. Nothing is too valuable to lose, if what would be gained was of perceived equal value. Otherwise, she wouldn't take the deal.
If no one else would step up to the plate and this was an important matter, she'd step up to the plate without hesitation though.
If [Viola] was offered to have a single wish fulfilled, it would be: Simply put, Immortality. She would give up everything for the chance for it. A simple, age-old want that quite a few men have had in the past.
