Not to get all psychological, but some people are actually just 'wired' to take things people say literally. I'm like that to an extent, but I've learned that people here are usually just shitposting.

This bio will get reconstructed once I've left the site for good. I'll be collecting my data in the background for now, and sorting some loose ends. I'll be on and off to do it, so don't think I'm back if you see me around. Once I've dealt with everything, I'll log out properly and remove my 'ghost' status, and that'll be the last this site sees of me. This community is in serious need of growing up, and I'm not the least bit surprised that role-plays die here so frequently.

The 'Grim Reaper's Gambit' role-play is likely to reboot elsewhere eventually. The role-play will have some modifications, so contact me if you're curious since the original project won't accurately explain everything. There's no determined date for it to happen yet, since I've got other priorities and I'm not investing a lot of time in it until enough of the people interested have free time to properly commit (lack of dedication on the part of some players practically destroyed the previous version; it's very apparent it would've died even if I hadn't decided to leave). There's a group that're quite interested, but most of them are busy.

Anyway, come back later for an update later -- or don't; it's your life.

Also, I agree with that. My history with role-play is actually more common on messengers than it is on sites, and I can honestly say that having a really good OOC is usually what keeps a role-play alive -- no matter how good the IC is, people don't get the same feeling as they do if the community is on good terms, which is one of a few reasons I make a habit of becoming friends with the people I role-play with.

Most of my best role-playing experiences were with a very close circle of friends who were role-playing with me using my main story project's setting ('Guardian Ascension', or just 'GA'), which - just for the record - this role-play is very loosely connected to by virtue of spin-off/multiverse-type stuff.

Anyway, I've been contemplating a Discord chat, considering I planned to make a Discord channel for discussion about my GA project once I'm in a better state, but as it currently stands my PC is in a very bad condition and I'm trying to get all my important information off of it so I can transfer over to a new one. To put it into perspective, I have regular PC crashes and browser crashers -- like, very regular. Certain activities, such as browsing wikia sites (or other sites that have lots of active adds) are too much for this PC to handle, and so is running (or joining) something like a Discord chat. So it's more likely to be a thing once my new PC's up.

Edit: I've created a placeholder for a spot in the opening post where the Discord chat will be linked to.

Lol, well, this thread certainly got a different atmosphere quickly. I get the feeling I'm gonna be hitting the 'Laugh' button a lot more than I thought I would unless I just start responding to posts with a laugh and only hit the button for the insanely funny ones.

Honestly though, it took a while to settle between 'Millionaire' and 'Billionaire', since I had to work out how common it was for people to potentially be a billionaire in 2012. Given how his existence likely has had a large impact on the economy in certain countries, I wanted to be careful of things like that since I tend to be a stickler for the details. I figured since he's mostly an anonymous benefactor though, he could likely be the fill in for a lot of real life anonymous benefactors in the era.

Just for the record, it's 'Bonaparte', not 'Van Bonaparte'. I can understand why people might make this misconception, since 'van _____' or 'von _____' are surnames in some countries, but 'Van' actually happens to be his middle name. Figured I'd make a point of this here, since like... three people have done this now. Lol.

To answer your question, yes they do -- the world's pretty close to the real world 2012 outside of all the hidden contemporary fantasy stuff, and the fact that certain figures who didn't exist in real life 2012 (such as Bonaparte) exist in this world and subsequently would have an impact on the flow of history and society. Then again, you're joking, so I don't know why I'm answering this. Probably because I can.

Cheers for replacing 'Trivia' with 'Notes', Melo. I'm aware that you only did it for the character tab, while I asked everyone to do it in both versions, but honestly it's not a big deal considering that - unlike the 'Theme Music' change, which was irrelevant to you currently but had to happen in both to speed up the loading of pages on the thread - the character tab is the place people should be looking at if they want to see our information, and the 'Notes' change was also made in the rules for everyone trying to join.

Status updates:

  • Lucifer Van Bonaparte's CS had an additional piece of information added to his 'Also Known As' category, since it took me a while to settle on this. I'm still deciding how similar the character sheets for NPCs will be in comparison to player characters, so things might still change again in general.

  • Another edit was made to the opening IC post, but it's entirely irrelevant for those who've already read the post outside of perhaps the final sentence. I was mostly including a visual description of the character because I usually do this whenever a new character is introduced in my writing and just forgot to because we've got character sheets. Figured it looked better with it there, and also allowed guests who don't read the character sheets to visualize things better. I shouldn't need to edit it again unless I find typos that my perfectionism can't ignore.

  • As stated previously, I'm still open to people asking me to be the murderer and will be until such a time as the first murder happens, but no one is obligated to do this. I just think it's better if a player who'd actually enjoy the role takes it instead of someone being forced to play it. Naturally, say nothing about whether you want the role or not in this thread and ask me strictly over PM.
