My Very Brief Bio

Male, 33 years old. (I'm even more dead than before.)

Likes (other than writing and roleplaying): I'm into all genres of music. I love to cook. I love the outdoors, and walking through the park near my house. (Yes, really.) I read a lot of thriller/mystery novels. And I usually watch seasonal anime. (Or cooking shows. Because Western Media provides even fewer things that are worth watching.)

But as for my many other neglected hobbies, I've played basically every sport. (Soccer and Bowling being my favorite of the bunch.) And I'm trying to play more video games. (Going through my never-ending Steam library.) Plus, I've dabbled in making electronic & metal music, and I used to play a number of instruments. (Guitar, French Horn, etc.)

@Meth Quokka (If you've been given the unfortunate task of clean up duty, I think you should take this into context. Though the vulgarity isn't meant toward you or anyone specifically. Nor does any of the following statement relate to you.)

Yeah, there's nothing I could say that would make the cognitive dissonance flowing anymore preposterous than it already is. But...

Let’s try again:

Stick to the purpose of the thread, that’s enough of the sniping and attacks.

Any further violation will result in Mod action and the closing of this thread.

>*literally a few posts later*

Holy shit. There's some people on here that are so delusional that I fear for them if they act anywhere near the same IRL.

Seriously? Why isn't this thread closed yet? How does that even have to do with roleplaying? Doesn't even use words regarding roleplaying. Why even pretend this is acceptable and not categorize this as an "attack". (Also because, I know this will be a comment if I don't reply. I know and don't care if the comment wasn't related to me.)

"tbh talking to this guy there is nothing to do but flame him"

And seriously, I would have just laughed this off and let it slide. But I was literally publicly warned by the exact same moderator telling me "to report forum violations" and then after following said instructions "not to bother them anymore." When I merely (and obviously) sarcastically implied that I may troll people for a reaction. But when someone else, who they clearly like, brazenly just outright state they troll an individual, absolutely nothing is done about it. Yeah, sorry. But gimme a break.

@Heat Ha ha of course. I think you damn possible spiritual messages just a bit much. But hey, it's your taste. But if you read those lyrics "I tune to my ears to the BBC. I can hear them, they can't hear me, I long to forget the horrors I've seen. I live like a ghost and I'll die with the free." yet got "generic love song" out of that, I got absolutely nothing to add. (except that I wish more generic bands had an entire band of good singers that knew how to harmonize like that. XP)

Though if we must talk about lyrics and how a song improves by adding them, or on rare occasion they'd just be better if they were removed. If they're bad lyrics, or if they are meaningless. These lyrics seem to fall in the latter category. (And there's no particular lines that would get stuck in your head either.) They just seem to be a bet on how many bigger words that they could use in a song. You could find lyrics like this in most Deathcore albums. Though a possible saving grace, could be the vocalist, but he sounds the same as most generic weak metal vocalists. Basically musical filler that you're not supposed to pay attention to. (And vocalists often make or break songs for me.) He has absolutely no powerful moments.

So really the song lives or dies on it's instrumental, which technical death metal tends to focus on anyway. I enjoy the talent being displayed, solid drumming and guitar work (and solo) etc. Though I've listened to the track 3 times now and I still can't really fully enjoy the piece. Maybe it's because I woke up this morning with a bit too much wax in my ears. But it just seems too haphazard or disconnected, but not weird/impressive enough for it to suddenly shift into me loving it again. However, I may give the whole album a shot. Because it just seems like it's a band that's far better as a whole than individually. So thanks for the album recommendation. 6/10

Some awesome guitar work, without any clumsy vocals to get in the way.

The first one. XD
Jesus this is like a perfect amalgamation...

...Ignoring like-a thousand other things I could say. (Because frankly I should be in bed, well I mean asleep, already.)

@Odin Just edit one post, then put more in that. Instead of posting three to almost four times in a row in under half an hour...it wouldn't be spam then...

@Raddum I don't think anyone benefits from being hostile about it either...

@KatherinWinter Don't worry he'll be setting her down in the next post likely, because the person will likely question it depending on how you appear in the post. xP Because you'd asked to, if you saw someone carrying another adult in their arms.
I do care for the artists like you said, and I do have a tendency to flip my bitch switch when it’s not needed, and it’s something I’m working on. I’m sorry if I came off rude, but you gotta imagine how painful it is, to work so hard on something, then have someone just take it and use it, without any thought of how you would feel about it, and not even bothering to credit. As an artist that’s all I would ask of people who use my art, so to see someone NOT do that, and seeing people who have done that to me on multiple occasions, it’s become a HUGE pet peeve for me.

I'm sure it's frustrating. I've created my own stuff, it's happened to me. I've also made those mistakes and I've corrected them when asked. I've paid for my own art and usually do give credit so other's may find their work. (Bought far more physical CD's than I believe anyone smart with their money should.) But being aggressive doesn't usually get things done. Attract more fly's with honey than with vinegar, so to speak. You have to be optimistic that everyone who made that mistake, will fix that problem, if politely spoken to. But realistic about how media spreads and is shared among the internet...

Like I said. Unless (and something even if) they're using my images, songs or work without good intentions. I usually don't have a strong negative gut reaction, but I do understand I'm likely in the minority. I just remind you that there's a lot of kids and teenagers online, and adults who type "what is a search engine" into google. Reverse image searching is often something that does not cross people's minds. My point wasn't a defense for me, it was pointing out the artist likely has a much bigger battle to undergo than a single forum user. If it was found on somewhere that wasn't the original site.

However, all I can say if asking politely to the person isn't providing you with results. Then taking it to upper management is the best thing you can do. If it was my decision to make, I'd talk to the people you think uploaded your (or someone you know's) art. But I'm not. All you can do is be patient, persistent and hope your query is resolved.

Now I feel compelled to changing my avatar art to a piece I've commissioned and have someone inevitably use it on this very forum, among other things. The things I do... <.<
I don't think it's a matter of getting permission really. Because obviously it's on the internet and they put it up to get exposure.

I don't want to use the "exposure" card. Because that's what people do to youtuber's when they make 'reaction videos', and I find that practice far more insidious, because money is often being made. I find art usage more often a harmless crime, that everyone who has ever used the internet has committed.

If they prove their work is there's and make a polite request to the person with the copyrighted material. The other person will likely and should replace it. It's just called being a good person at that point. But every person who acts self-righteous about it, doesn't earn my sympathy and is very likely a hypocrite, even if it is a more personal picture. If it's being used on a random roleplaying forum, you bet your behind it's being used elsewhere too.

I'm not saying that's right, but I'm saying it's something you have to be aware will happen submitting your work, especially on an art sharing site. You need to be careful, you can act like your life is private all you want. But in this day and age people are willingly giving all their information the moment they use google, facebook, post a picture anywhere at all. Etc. The rest comes down to being civil and a good person. Least that's my thoughts on the matter.

My faith has dwindled over the hundreds of people, who are in fact RUDE about it and refuse to take it down. I’ve had this problem many times and I’m quite sick of it. As far as your insults go, they mean little to nothing, because you don’t know me and you haven’t been on our side of the spectrum. How would you feel if someone took from your role play posts and didn’t bother to give credit? And for your “problem” on finding the original artists, it’s called a reverse image search. Do enough research and you’ll the artist, if you don’t, then DONT USE IT.

and the image was sent to me by a friend who asked me to use it so she could always find my posts, but I’ll change it just to show that the only hypocrite is you.

I actually have had art before, commissioned and paid for by me. Some random person on the internet started using it and eventually after talking with him, he edited the colors and used it as his own. Until he eventually had money to buy his own art and he thanked me for not giving him a hard time about it. Also someone who was an asshole, who drew comics about murdering me (twice), stole music that I created and used a sarcastic picture of mine on their hate blog of me. (The glory days of being e-famous.) And you know what I lost?

Absolutely nothing. So I'm actually not a hypocrite, if people post art I paid for. I don't mind at all, because I've never felt that deeply connected to art or things like that to be an asshole about it. Not calling you that, although...

That "I'm rubber, your glue" attack doesn't really hold much weight. Because you proved my point already didn't you? You didn't need to change the image, -I wasn't the user- and yet you did anyway right away. (Though likely to Streisand Effect yourself.) You weren't even apologetic or sorry about it, you blamed me for pointing out your hypocrisy, which it wasn't an attack. It was a factual statement.

My simple point is, I wasn't judging that I know you. I'm saying you shouldn't be judging hundreds of people, whom are likely kids that aren't doing anything on purpose to you, or the person you're attacking in defense for. I'm saying, I believe that you care about artists you know and want to support. Like everyone who made a similar comment to yours, however be very well aware how easy it is to make that mistake yourself. Be a little more graceful to people who are trying to be respectful back. (Act like you currently are toward me, and it's not a wonder you were ignored.)

@Grim That literally has already happened so many times and is sort of happening this very moment with you mentioning discord or most of what you said. But the "wah" part certainly sounds a lot like the other people I'm describing alright...I'm teasing, gimme a break here.

Yeah. A bit wall of text-y. But again, no intention of offense, but clear biases stop me from taking you very seriously. The thing I want to make very clear is that I don't do this to anyone else. Not a single person who has been kind to me from the beginning, has received any of my venom. Not a one. And even the worst offenders always have an option to make up, because I don't hold grudges. If anyone wants to talk to me, not -at- me. I'll be perfectly respectful back.

I'd even clarify that my post replying wasn't even directed -at- you personally. If anyone made that argument, I would have likely made the same snarky comment. Still petty? Hell yeah. But half the thread is people being nothing but petty and I'd argue you were a part of that too. I'll admit I don't really have the best filter, so maybe I'm often too bluntly honest. Sure, it's an excuse, but one that I do have better reasons for than most. But I'll leave it at that, because it's not important.

I don't even understand the false presumption of me assuming I'm perfect. Because aside from my very last original post on here, was me criticizing myself, I've never stated that. I've even directly stated otherwise. Which is far more humble than you could get most people to be, but I digress. If you want people being obnoxious to stop, maybe be honest enough to protest more than just one person or other people equally in the wrong. (because it doesn't exactly give your opposing theory credibility.) I could say more, but I'll leave it at that.

Goodnight.
You want to know why artists get pissed off that you use their work without permission? Because we work hard on them and the amount of designing that went into it, and its completely unfair, not to mention RUDE and completely disrespectful to use it without permission. It takes a lack of COMMON DECENCY to do something like this.

The issue is not a simple as you using it, it’s about not getting permission and not giving them credit for doing so. Which a lot of of you do. Personally, when someone does to me, it makes me feel like you are STEALING my work....

Here's my question, do you own that picture you yourself already have on the site? Or have permission by the owner to use it? I have a feeling that's not yours.

If it is, you have about four hundred people (AT LEAST) using that exact same picture right now.

tineye.com/search/07f05aac6a24e18d462…

Because although I do understand and empathize with artists that create work, having others plagiarize or use their work without permission is unfortunate. It's an outright lie that people have never done it themselves before, with the vast amount of pictures on the internet, posted anywhere and everywhere. It's impossible to find the original creator, most times. The intention is so rarely to be used as theft. So when people are so full of ego to assume it will never be done, is quite laughable.

As long as it isn't taking away their profit and they aren't claiming it's their picture, the best thing you can do is directly contact the person using it. They'll likely not be that rude to you, if you're simply kind in return. I don't want to say, purposefully stealing art is okay because you post it on the internet. But have a little more faith in others and don't be a hypocrite and use art that doesn't belong to you.
@KatherinWinter Yes. He assumes if she wants to go down, she'll ask. He's a gentle-erm, wolf person after all? :P

Also, if you happened to be confused on the necklace or especially the question of can she hear the noise of him kicking his feet. You can decide whether or not she heard the rock going down the steps or Bastian kicking the wall with some force. Because I can do either answer and it will possibly effect future posts. I leave it ambiguous for you to decide. :3
