Give me a bit to write up a suitable character. I might pepper you with questions as I hit stumbling blocks.
"You guys remember Small Paul? The code-breaker? Scrawny kid, prematurely grey, real high pitched voice? I know he was doing it, I kept on hearing rumors he was leaving coded messages disguised as battlefield graffiti. Whatever happened to that guy?"
"Well it's made from pure alcohol that I mixed with some fermented onions, garlic, just a tiny bit of ethanol, lime and sugar also just some meat I found from the intestine of an animal. I requested Legion to cook but he's to good for that."
A funny thought came into my head, Thinking of East teaching the others how to be villans ala Robbie Rotten.

Maybe the Ning Hai or the Ping Hai?
I'm perfectly fine with this as long as they are two similar ships. Special bonds between sister ships are encouraged.

I think it might be best to decide on what type you'd prefer to play (e.g. heavy cruiser, destroyer, submarine, etc) before deciding on class. That way you're not looking through hundreds of Clemson-class or Fletcher-class destroyers or some other variation of a ship class that was mass produced before you have any idea of what style of combat you're looking for.
Combinations as in two ships merged into one?
Also, are we applying WW2 tactics here, where battleships (later carriers) were the center force, with everyone else being destroyers, crusiers, submarines, etc.?
